HTML - Validation Problem With Embed Tag For Mozilla
Hi,
I'm trying to validate one of my HTML pages using HTML 4.0 Transitional. I have cleared all errors listed apart from one. The error is: Code: The tag name: "embed" Not found in currently active versions.[HTML 4.0] I have added a flash annimation and used the embed tag for it to work in mozilla. If i remove the embed tag it works in IE but not in mozilla. Error Page Page Hi, I've run into a problem between the rendering of tables in Mozilla and IE, and was hoping you might be able to help me out. The page in question is this one. In Mozilla, the right side of the coin is correctly aligned with the logo, and, using the align="left" tag, I can put content at the top of the page. In IE, however, the coin is separated. If I simply align the image to the left, it lines up with the rest of the logo properly, however, it then doesn't allow for content in all of the blank space to the right of the logo, for 138 pixels of height. Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this rendering problem? I've tried putting the site together where all parts of the background graphics are, instead of images, backgrounds to table cells, but I still ran into problems there, such as duplication of parts of the logo if the content is too large (which can change if different browsers have different text size). I have a main page in which I have a named div(workplace) where I call a html form page. Once the form page is called in the "workplace" div, the form is working, I can submit the entries to the database but the javascript validation doesn't work. But if I open the form in a decicated browser window then the javascript form validation works. I want to use div because everywhere I'm reading that "frames" is the devil and I should use div tag instead. Where could be my trouble? Your help is appreciated. I am having problem in validation of http://www.outsourcingi.com/articles.php Following three things are creating problems: Line 16, column 6: end tag for element "HEAD" which is not open . Line 17, column 5: document type does not allow element "BODY" here . Line 83, column 76: cannot generate system identifier for general entity "cat" . You see when i leave the telephone field blank the code error message comes up telling me that i cant leave that field blank. When i then put in illegal characters it says that i used illegal characters but instead of clearing the feild,allowing me to type the correct phone number and then moving onto the getradio if statement it goes to receipt page when the submit button is clicked instead of doing the validate checks first and then moving onto the receipt.html page. Hi, I'm trying to debug some code and, in spite of running it cleanly through the W3C validator, still have some big issues. The site runs fine in Chrome but displays incorrectly in IE and FireFox. They only appear in Firefox's View Source (not IE, OP, SA). Validation complains: Byte-Order Mark found in UTF-8 File. The Unicode Byte-Order Mark (BOM) in UTF-8 encoded files is known to cause problems for some text editors and older browsers. You may want to consider avoiding its use until it is better supported. My other pages, with the same DOCTYPE do not show this error. Copy and paste from a good page does not make the problem go away. I'm stumped. Assistance solving this baffling problem is appreciated. I understand maybe CDATA islands can help with this? or making it external? but I have no idea how to do that with it having html code in there too.. I don't know if you can surround it in CDATA tags. There are other lines of code too, exactly the same except have different languages. Any help would be awesome! I hope this is the correct forum. I have a large swf file that until some of this loads all the user sees is a blank box on the page. What I would like to do is show a gif or jpg there that is small enough to show the control bars of the swf file so the user can see something is going on and then when enough loads they can push play and see the video not the gif. I wanted to use preloaders but my client says no they want a static gif above the player controls. I have seen this done on other sites but I cannot figure this out. I code in the image with a div tag above the swf embed code using transparent in the embed code and all I see is a blank screen until the movie has downloaded and my controls are gone when it loads. So I am wondering do I need a transparent title page in the swf so it will show the image or what?
