HTML - Site Page Resolution Question
Edited: Seo Concerns.
Similar TutorialsIf I'm using basic html/css stuff and tables, how do I get it so my graphics and everything on my site scales properly to the viewers screen resolution? Any tutorials on this? thanks! Ok, I'm new to this stuff. But I'm learning. How wide do you want to set your width of your webpage in pixels? 1000px, 1200px, or what? I'm working in dreamweaver and I have a big screen monitor and I have the resoultion at 1920x1080. I'm am guessing based on my experience you should use high screen resolutions, but I'm not sure how much to set the [wrapper] width in the CSS settings. I look at web pages with a 1920x1080 resolution and they strech all the way across the screen, but except the middle part. The middle part I'm guessing is at a smaller px size. I'm guessing it could be at a 1000px width. Am I'm right here? But this part is what i'm trying to figure out here. How do you make a page be viewed on a big resolution page like at 1920x1080 resolution and make it compatible with all of the other screen resolutions. Any Expert Advice or Very Helpful Hints Will Help Me Very Much, Thanks, Chris Clark I'm brand new to the scene of html and tryiing to create a website. I'm currently using a drop-and-drag program that does allow for some html and other scripting to help modify the page. The problem I'm having is this. When the webpage I created with a margin of 1024 x 768 appears on my monitor (1440x900) as well the monitor of a few other people I have asked, it appears fine. When I change my monitor resolution to 1024 x 768 to view the webpage, I have to scroll over to the middle of the page to begin viewing. How do I fix this so that the page is centered regardless of the monitor resolution of whomever is viewing the page? Once again, I am a beginner with the world of html so I will do my best to try to understand whatever it is that I need to input into the html to try to fix the problem. Thank you. I have a to make web page containing 2 columns. This is done. Now what I would like to insert in the code is something like this: The 2 columns should be full screen on any resolutions. Something like the page would adapt to the monitor resolution. The percent would be 80% for the first column 20% for the se cond one. What I don't know - is how to do that. Would a table resolve this problem? What would be the code for this? Suggestion are well appreciated. Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me. I want a border around the entire page. It works fine in IE at all resolutions, but breaks in FF. I explicitly stated html and body heights to be 100% but that doesn't help. I should be able to spot the error, but its escaping me. Can someone please look at my code and tell me if you see anything? I am currently on a resolution of 1280x1024 and I want it work for 1024x768. Well, I want it to work for any resolution, really. In fact, I noticed the problem exists when I go from maximizing the browser window to minimizing it. Here is what it looks like at 1280x1024 with the browser window maximized. Here is what it looks like at 1024x768 or when the browser window is less than maximized. See the problem? The two background images to either side of the banner image are lessening, as the resolution decreases or the browser window is decreases. Yet, the banner image remains unaffected. How can I make sure that the html is proportional to resolution, such that the background image on either side of the banner image remain unaffected in the manner in which they are currently? Thank you. Here is the HTML: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Test</title> </head> <body> <table border="2"> <!-- table 1 --> <tbody> <tr> <td width="10%" style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(pictures\BG.jpg)"><!-- col 1 --> </td> <td width="80%"><!-- col 2 --> <table border="4"> <!-- Table 2 --> <tbody> <tr> <td><img src="pictures/banner.jpg"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>More stuff goes here</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </td> <td width="10%" style="BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(pictures\BG.jpg)"><!-- col 3 --> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <!-- table 1 --> </body> </html> Morning guys, So yeah I'm new, this is my first ever site. After so much trial and error with Dreamweaver (so frustrating but a great way to learn) i have finished the first draft of the site and have uploaded it to the iPower server so my bosses can review. In Dreamweaver the preview in browsers show everything is fine, but live this is not the case (how many times have you heard this?!) Good thing is it's not the positioning thats the issue - it's the images - some load up, some don't, and this seams to change everytime I refresh?!?! Surely this is a case of not me but them?! He's a link so you can have a look yourselves: http://www.friendshiprose.com/cruise_tobago.html If anybody can shed some light it would be much appreciated, as I don't know too much really. I suspect that the subsequent errors displayed in the validator are displayed due to something setting off the first error. 1. I thought the validator only validated HTML, not Javascript. 2. I've used the exact same Javascript function on other sites and they validated just fine - and I literally copy and pasted the function, so I'm a bit confused what is setting off the validator this time... This one has seemed to stumped me, my webpage he Edit: link removed, problem solved and the other links: Order online, testimonials, about us, and contact us all render exactly in firefox, however my products page gets shoved to the left a couple of clicks for some odd reason. I narrowed it down a bit; it seems as if its only letting me to post a few paragraphs until it does it, meaning i can remove the animation and some paragraphs, and it looks the way i want it, but when I add the paragraphs back even without the slideshow the problem persists. Using expression web 3. Thank You a bunch for your help. Hi, How can I link to a directory inside my website so it shows inside my page instead of alike you just link to the directory. So like the directory to my files is httlp:/mysite.com/download/. I can link to it directly just like that but I want it to show inside my website. How can I do that? Thanks. PROBLEM SOLVED Hello, I'm a windows app programmer, but don't know too much about HTML. I use Frontpage to maintain my web site. I need to check the referring page, and if it equals what I want, then I need to redirect to another page. OK, to explain further, I've had a web site for years. Lets call it www.p.com. Yesterday, I registered two new domain names, we'll call them www.a.com and www.b.com. I had my web host simply make them pointers directly to www.p.com. So, when users type in www.a.com or www.b.com, they are automatically taken to www.p.com. This is OK...but, it is causing some issues. What I'd like to do is, when the page (www.p.com) is loaded, I want the page to check the page the user came from, such as www.a.com. If it was www.a.com or www.b.com, then I want to re-load www.p.com, so that the page is refreshed so that it actually was www.p.com and not a re-direct from www.a.com. Can I do this? and how can this be done? Many thanks in advance! domls Hi, I am trying to set up a webpage where the only way someone can access it is if they came from my facebook page.
