HTML - Spacing Between Body Text And Scroll Bar
I am designing a site that uses a size-specific template, therefore, the size cannot change vertically so I have utilized a scroll bar in my body text.
<table height="340" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:400px;"> <tr> <td><div style="overflow:auto; height:340px; cellpadding:0; width:519px"> body text goes here The scrollbar works fine, but the text butts up right against it. Changing the cellpadding does not give me space between the text and scrollbar, just between the table edge and the scrollbar. [the scrollbar fits inside the table size]. Is there a way to insert extra space between the right side of the text and scrollbar? Thank you for your help! Staci Similar TutorialsHello, I have a table text spacing problem. I'm trying to have two text elements (p's, spans's, whatever) stacked vertically or as close as possible underneath one of other. I cannot for the life of me remove the gap in between. I've tried margins, padding, cellpadding/cellspacing, border-collapse, and still, nothing works. I've attached an example using primitive HTML. Anyone have any ideas? The code: Code: <table width="650" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td>TEXT</td> </tr> <tr> <td>TEXT2</td> </tr> </table> Thanks! Edit: Line-height did the trick. Hi there, I need some help with this page: I can't get the "In this section:" link list to go to the right of the body text of the page and have the body text wrap around it. I'm also having trouble getting all the different headings and paragraphs to work right -- even if I set the CSS to display:block; the different headings display as inline elements. To get around this I've had to assign them all a width of 860 px -- which I think might be contributing to the problem getting the link list to go to the right of the body text, but horizontally aligned with the top heading. Thanks for any help you can give! Hi, I have a site that goes over about 3 pages in length and in the IE the page is longer than in firefox. This is really annoying when you have next to the page a sidebar that is supposed to have the same length as the page but in the IE the sidebar does not reach the end of the page (because the page is longer due to larger spacing). To me it seems that IE makes more spaces between the text lines like h1, h2, p, etc. Is this a common problem and is there any solution to this? Having a problem with divisions, as far as i am aware the contents of a division portrays the length of any division. Correct? Is there any way i can make the division wider to enable me to have space either side of my text? Thanks CW Excuse the typo in the subject line...I can't use text coding in a DIV placed Scroll Box. Hey folks, I'm creating a DIV layout on myspace and it seems as though I can't use the center code or line break codes in my scroll box? Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've never had this trouble before.... hello all, I found a simple effect that make the text scroll vertical which it's prefect for my website. Code: <div align="center"> <marquee scrollamount="2" direction="up" loop="true" width="35%"> <center> THIS IS COOL </center> </marquee> </div> the thing is, how can I make it stop on RollOver / hover How I can set the scrool bar so that the vertical bar will show? When the typed text exceeds the horizontal space area, cursor will be moved into next line without hitting the Enter key. Can anyone help me out? I've set up a test site for a project where I have a scrollable table within an iFrame. Techincally, its an iFrame within an iFrame which gets you to a scrollable table I also added an auto-scroll with anchor-links. Everything finally works, but I really want to remove the horizontal-scroll bar that shows up, while keeping the vertical-scroll bar. (Upon testing, I found without the vertical-scroll bar, the anchor-links and auto-scroll don't work correctly.) here's the link to the test site: http://www.thegrandamerican.com/ here's the line of code I think is the correct place to make corrections: <iframe id="myiframe" name="myiframe" src="oprah june 09_news.htm" width="900" height="475" scrolling="yes" overflow-y: scroll></iframe> The hierarchy works as follows: index.htm > spotlight_news.htm > oprah june 09_news.htm The reason for all the iframes is to have elements on the higher pages that will stay in place, such as a music player and dynamic menu bar. other notes and associated files (for the auto scroll) a smooth-src-comments.js smooth.pack.js Thanks. - J Im trying to create a simple thing for my business. Hey, This has been bugging me for some time and I'm rubbish when it comes to borders and margins etc. Could someone tell me how modify the margin (presuming it's a margin) around the edge of the page? If you look at the attached image, you can see that the table isn't touching the edge of the page, and It does the same with images, text etc. Thanks Hi, I noticed that if you insert meta tags into html somewhere in the body tags, the browser still recognizes them. I know its bad practice, but do search engines frown on putting meta tags in the body INSTEAD of the head? Cheers, Doug Hello Everyone: I am a novice HTML user - I use it to create a Help file (for an MS/Access database), using HTML Help Workshop. My question concerns line spacing, using the following code: <b><u>Server:</u></b> <ul> <li>First List item...</li> </ul> Using this code, there will be a blank line between "Server" and "First List item...". Is it possible to eliminate this line and have the list start in the next line after "Server"? Thanks. . . Tony N. Hey folks... I've searched and searched for an answer for this, but with no luck. Probably because I don't know how to exactly describe my problem. Anyway, the issue is my page is displaying differently in IE and Firefox (surprise!). The spacing between the top image and the body divs are different. I'm not sure if it's an HTML issue or a CSS one. The page in question is: http://www.project-43.com/ The CSS file is he http://project-43.com/images/style.css It displays the way I want it too in Firefox. If you look at it in IE, you'll see the top image looks short, but that is because the spacing between the left menu area and the body on the right is too big. I appreciate any pointers that you might be able to offer. Thanks! Ok so I'm learning along the way by playing around with what my web designer started. I'm having trouble working out what part of the html does the spacing between my text and the input box. Here's what I'm stuck at: You can see how where it says 'click for more fonts' the box isn't in line with the others. Any help would be much appreciated.... I'm starting to go cross-eyed lol. |
