HTML - Retrieving Latest Version Of Page...
I am looking for a way to make sure that each time a page is loaded, it retrieves the latest version off of the server without the user having to click Refresh/Reload. The page has news items on it and sometimes it doesn't load the updated page, but the page that is in the browser's cache. I know this option can be changed in the Browser's properties, but I want a way to do this automatically without requiring that users change this preference.
Similar TutorialsHello! I am working on updating a website a bit with some new features and one of the new features is "latest thread". I've seen it before on other sites, but I'm not sure how to do it myself. So, how would I code in an area that lists the 5 latest threads from my phpbb3 forums? Thanks for your time! Hi, I'm looking to create my own version of a printer-friendly page. Any resources I can find on this subject are extremely specific about what they consider "printer-friendly", and they don't address my issue. It seems to be browser specific, but I want to get rid of whatever extra is printed in the top and bottom margins. Printed from IE, the top margin contains the page title and page information, while the bottom margin contains the URL and date. Printed from Firefox, the top margin contains the title and URL, and the bottom margin contains the page info and date. I don't want any of this - how would I disable it? Thanks. Not sure where to start with this one so posting a general question here for direction. My website This a weather site / beach cam. I generate timelapses at the top of each hour and would like the snapshot / play button in the right column to be a direct download link to the *LATEST* timelapse movie. Right now I'm just linking to the timelapse page. I'm guessing there is some math involved. Possibly something other than html. I still have my fortran book from college but not sure there are any compilers left. Where should I look next? Thanks. Hey all, i have a question. What is the main difference between an academic version and a full version of a program such as Dreamweaver? Are you only supposed to use the Academic version for educational purposes only? Meaning if i design a website with an academic version i can't legally put it up as a business website? I was always curious about how this actually works, thanks. I got all my html files set up and file directories correct, however my audio files simply won't play when I sync the actual website in dreamweaver. They play just fine if I double click the html file to open up a local version of the website. EDIT: They play fine in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox, both updated to latest version. =/ Here is my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <style> #container { display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; position: relative; border:none; width: 380px; height: 633px; background-image: url("pictures/kohakuriver1.png"); background-position:center; } #container img { position: absolute; border:none; left: 65px; width: 245px; height: 53px; } #image1 {top: 225px} #image2 {top: 300px} #image3 {top: 375px} </style> <meta charset="utf-8"> <LINK href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> <title>Music_river</title> </head> <body> <audio autoplay="autoplay"> <source src="music/hupochuanClip.mp3"/> <source src="music/hupochuanClip.ogg"/> </audio> <div id="container"> <a href="index.html"><img src="pictures/button-mainplaylist.png" alt="MainPlayList" id="image1"/></a> <a href="music_sorrow.html"><img src="pictures/button-sorrowbeauty.png" alt="SorrowsBeauty" id="image2"/></a> <a href="music_snow.html"><img src="pictures/button-snow.png" alt="SnowSerenade" id="image3"/></a> </div> </body> </html> Does anyone see what's wrong? =/ Hi I have an html page that contains a .swf (index.html). I'd like to make sure that browsers always load the site, and not get it from their cache. I've heard of a thing called cache busting, but there is little info on it when dealing with anything other than a Wordpress site. Does anyone know about it or have info on any other way to make sure the site automatically loads directly? I don't want to have to rely on users manually clearing their cache. Cheers Shaun Hello team, I had some great help here last time so this is my first stop to ask another question What i'm trying to do is make: www.mysite.com/whatever (where 'whatever' is the string i give someone i.e 12345 or bobsmith) ...redirect to: http://www.redirectsite.com/print_de...p?pid=whatever so i can tell people to go to, for example, www.mysite.com/bicycle and it will go to http://www.redirectsite.com/print_de...sp?pid=bicycle note that i have no control over 'redirectsite' other than being able to upload my products. is this possible? i'm thinking that somehow i could make a /redirect directory with some sort of graber file where anything that queries /redirect as in www.mysite.com/redirect/bicycle automatically gets forwarded to the new site with the added string on the end of "id=". how tough it that!? tell me it's not impossible please!! thanks for you help in advance!! How do I make images small but when yoiu click them you go to a fullsize version? I have a fullsize image that takes up too much space on my webpage. What code should I use to shrink it a certain percentage but when I click on it you go to a full size image? thanks I need to create a form with a submit button. When pressed, the form will retrieve data (a list of options) from a remote url then display those options in a Select element. Can anyone provide me with any sample code or point me in the right direction for how I should go about achieving this? Thanks, James Hello - I am using a Selection/Drop Down box in my form. I use a database to populate the drop down box, which is working fine. A sample bit of the result would look like this: <option value="1">California> <option value="2">Nevada> etc. etc. This appears to be working just fine - the drop down box is fully populating and displaying as expected. My form "action" needs to "know" which option was selected, so that it can send the ID value (1,2,3,etc) to the next page and continue executing accordingly. The only area where I am having trouble is in this line: <form method="post" action="details.php?id=[[WhatGoesHere??]] ">... (note that "details.php" is a valid file, works great if I hard code this line with a valid ID #) I am totally unclear as to what code should go after 'id=' This is easy, right? I just don't know the syntax/code. Do I have to go to Javascript to get the <option value> of the selected item? Doesn't the form have a way to give me this value? I am ok with PHP, not as good with Javascript, if I have to go there to do this. thanks, Wtc I need to get some HTML from my old profile on Vampirefreaks, as I kinda deleted it all. So I found the cached page on google, but I want the code for the profile. ut no the whole page like the home link etc. Can anyone help?
