HTML - Caps Lock And The Internet
I'm trying to decide if concerning myself with users who might type a URL all caps, or some other case combination is important.
Basically for 1, how many people ever type a url with uppercase letters unless it is obviously apparent that you are supposed to. ex. 'http://www.website.com/big_T' And #2, how many people, if they typed a URL with capital letters and were taken to a 404 page, would go back and type the address again in lowercase, instead of just assuming it was a bad address. ex. Someone posts 'HTTP://WWW.WEBSITE.COM/HOME' you type it as you see it... as so as you hit go/enter the browser is automatically going to put the domain in lowercase and retrieve the address: 'http://www.website.com/HOME' but still return an error page because the directory 'HOME' is actually 'home' Now , while there are ways to fix this, what I am really wanting to know, is how many people, would not go back and try the URL with 'home' typed in lowercase. Similar TutorialsCan I have some help. I'm creating a website and I created the template in photoshop, sliced it and imported into dreamweaver but when I put the slicked images to tables and enter content, the whole table messes up and nothing is in line anymore. Is there a way to stop this or to lock the tables so they don't expand and everything stays in line?? Thanks. suppose i have a form in which all the information are asked about a person. if person is male then the fields which are meant for female should be locked.. and same with vice versa... so please tell me how i can do that in html????? Now the problem is the news ticker is pushing the html text down and of course the table moves before the news ticker refreshes how do i lock the table to prevent the text and table moving down..?? Please help... Thanks hey everyone, on my website (like most websites) the text when you push CTRL and the scrolling button on your mouse the text changes size. I don't like this feature but understand some people need the help for them to read the text. Is there a code i could insert on my site where it will (after each time you come back) return to its original text size. the size i put on it well i was making it. so it lets people change it but when you leave then come back after a visit it'll turn the text back to its original form and size. thank you, Micheal Hey, I've just put my website back online, but I've got a lil' problem. My website shows everything perfectly when using Internet Explorer, but when openend with Firefox and others, most of the site doesn't appear as it should, pictures missing etc, is there anything I can do about this?, If so pretty please tell me! Hi, It seems that a lot of threads of this board are geared towards people having CSS issues in IE, I'm learning how to make websites at the moment and have also noticed this issue. Why have Microsoft not done something about this? I don't understand, it seems like Firefox and other browsers have always been a few years in front of IE over the years, so why won't Microsoft just make a browser compatible with all the latest CSS features, if Firefox can do it I don't understand why Microsoft can't? Is making the browser more update really that difficult? My site looks perfect in all other browsers, but in Internet Explorer (possibly only earlier versions) the alignment of everything is completely off...My blog content appears to the right of the header instead of under it... I am having a few problems in IE only....Please visit http://www.firstpresgreenville.org/ At the top of the page please notice the search form...In IE, a box extends down and covers part of the text below....this doesnt happen in Firefox or Chrome... Also, at the bottom of the page there is a content slider...In IE, the numbering shows as solid white boxes....In Firefox and Chrome the boxes are white with blue numbering... Somehow I am getting a weird white space between the header and the rendered Iframe (Chart in the snap shot). An expert here on EE told me about box model bug and that it can be be fixed by DOCTYPE declaration. Luckily It got fixed but only on IE7, I want it to work on IE6. I have a bit of a problem with my site. I'm using CSS for my td backgrounds and in some places it works and in some places it doesn't. I am looking at it using the lastest Internet Explorer. If I view the page in Firefox and IE, Firefox looks correct, but in IE the page looks some extra spaces. Is there any tag (or) code is available to fix this issue.. Worked out the design in Photoshop, cut all the images correctly and put them in tables. For text input I used the textbox form. Sounds like it should work.... However when I load the page in Internet Explorer the textbox and other image form are not level with the rest of the page. Additionally when I load the page with Firefox it looks correct but I cannot use the search (by hitting enter or the spy glass). You can see what I'm talking about at www.masconline.info/test/titlebar.html I managed to get the page to display correctly using layers. However I want to use this page as a sever-side include so that may not be a good idea. After working with the code for over three hours I have to find a solution. HELP ME! Thanks. Hey guys, My company is building this website and it seems like we're having quite a bit of trouble with the rollovers and their alignment in Internet Explorer versions before 7. It would be awesome if any of you could give us some insight as to why (other than asking customers to upgrade their explorer or switching to firefox). Another thing is the portfolio section is falling a little too far below the title for a designer's comfort (we're a graphic design studio... not web experts).... how might I be able to fix it?
