HTML - Multiple Styling Sheets Causing Page Errors
Here is the page I am currently working on. Everything is funtioning and working properly. But there's a problem. I validate my page and I get errors fo the style sheets in the head. It is the cause of like 5 errors on my page. Theres 2 other errors are so, but they are fixable and I will get to them after I fix the style sheet errors.
NOTE: The default style sheet is chose using PHP. I got this trick from alistapart.com. It works great so people that like an individual game system can change the layout, but I just wanted to fix these errors because it is chaining into other errors on the page. Does anyone have a solution for fixing this problem? I have done much research and messed around with it alot, but all things have failed. I also don't understand what hte title and media things mean in the link to the style sheet. If someone could define this for me I would appriciate it. Similar TutorialsI haven't learned this, and I can't really find anything on this. Is it possible to link multiple CSS sheets for different pages on the same website? I have some pages which I want to be abit shorter than they are, but they're going by the index.html and gets pretty annoying when I change the main content area on the index.html and it changes the main content size on every other page. Is this somehow possible? Hi, When I enter submit search terms into the search bar on my site (http://www.projectdisobey.com/disobeyclothing/), and then put the resulting page through a validation test at http://validator.w3.org/check, I get the following validation errors: (See attachment) I know that all these errors are resulting from an unencoded ampersand. My question is, which WordPress file do I need to go into in order to change the '&' to a '&'? Can anybody help me? I'm posting this thread now because I have a couple different errors occuring on pages, and was wondering if anybody could help me to clear them up. I've looked through the code to find the places specified but all looks fine to me (probably looking in the wrong place! ). I need to write a document on error handling in HTML and CSS so any help please? I want to be able to transfer all the code in my menu to an external stylesheet. The menu can be seen at www.brand-newhomes.co.uk/page135.htm Thus far I have: Made a file called "menustyle.css" and uploaded it to the root of my server. I then cut and pasted the rest into a file and called it " stylesheet.js " and uploaded it to the root in my server. I'm new to this forum, a complete newbie, but I was wondering how I can tell my html page to open another html page and read what is in the new page for that specific section. For example: I have google ads on the right side of my website, where I would put the ad, is there a way to link it to another html script without actually putting it in my html page? Kinda like a CSS sheet but the other way around. I don't want to have to go through every page to change the ad code, I just want to change an external sheet where the ad code is. I also want to do this for the body of my website where the content is. Can I link a external sheet that would input content into the body of the website? I want to put several tables in one page with horizontal line in between them. however, after I post it on the website the tables are stuck together with no space. basically the order is messed up. I have tried doing this but have failed several times, does anyone know what the code is that i should be using? Thanks Mini I'm new to forms and am trying to learn how to make a multiple page one. What I've made so far is very basic, but I figure I shouldn't make a pretty and complex one until I master the simple. I've made three separate pages: page a has the first part of the form and when you click 'continue' it should save the information and move you onto page b where you fill in another form. Then you move onto page c where the information you entered is displayed for you to review, then you press send. That's when it's sent to my e-mail. There are two problems with my code: when you click 'continue' on page A it automatically sends the info to my e-mail and I don't want it to. I want it to go to page b. It also displays the information entered on page a, but also shows a bunch of the code that should be hidden. I don't know why. And it's driving me nuts. I'd appreciate any help! We want the following to happen: 1) "next" and "previous" links to appear when the search returns more results than the limit set in the code. 2) the user to be able to click on a link/radio button which would allow them to view complete result data on another page. The code for goal 1 seems to need a "method = get" capability, while the second goal needs "method = post" to pass information on to the next page. We thought that the best way to do this would be to have two separate forms on the one html page. However, we can't seem to get either form to work in its entirety. I am trying to set up a webpage for our school that will allow students to view egg hatchings going on in all their classrooms. Im doing this through the use of webcams. I see this done many times on many websites (especially comic websites) where an image has a forwards and backwards arrow button, and images selected correspondingly. Ideally I want the [img src="images/001.jpg"] file name to increase by one each time. So all I have to do is add more images in ever increasing filenames to the images folder, 002.jpg, 003.jpg etc. How do I add one to a filename and then refresh the page? Can I do this in XHTML ? Many thanks. My page loads correctly, but when I open a new tab in IE7 so the tab bar appears, my page shifts to the left, and the menu overlaps/ obscures parts of the images. I can't find a reason why this happens, can anyone help? The problem arrived recently. The site is at http://www.les-amis-des-chats.com. If you go to it in IE7/8, look at the left hand side; under the navigation bar is an orange blob. It doesn't show up in Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera, but you do also get it in the Windows version of Safari. When I preview the page on my PC hard disc (running XP Pro) using IE7 or Safari, the blob isn't there! But it's there when I view the identical pages on the server. I know the blob is related to the navigation bar, in that first, when you hover the mouse over the blob it shows links to pages on the site, but upside down relative to the links in the navigation bar, and secondly, when I redesigned the navigation bar, the blob changed colour. Orange is the colour of the submenu links in the new design. I tried rebuilding the bar, and the "new" bar is only on the index page, but this made no difference. The blob appears on all the pages using the old and the new bar. Needless to say the problem didn't appear when I first inserted the "old" bar - it has appeared since then. Go to the French-language half of the site (click on the French flag in the top right corner), where there is a similar navigation bar built with the same software, and there is no sign of the problem. Any suggestions as to possible causes and cures will be gratefully received. And a Happy New Year to you all. I am working on the webpage: http://www.ashleylandscaping.com All works well, until you click on the "Contact" button. If you look at the other pages, everything is displayed properly. On the "Contact" page you will see a "Contact Us Form". When i have this form/table on the webpage, the whole bottom of the page disappears. If I remove that form from the page, everything looks fine. It must be just 1 or 2 things i'm missing, but I cant see it for the life of me. Hi everyone. This is my 1st msg on this forum so a BIG HELLO to everyone out there. Here's my problem. In my HTML I have the following DOCTYPE <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> and a bunch of javascript and HTML to implement a rich-text editor (this is actually a pre-written component that I'm using on the page). On Firefox the page views perfectly - no problems. On IE 6, all the buttons etc are displayed but the actual text are where the user can type is not visible so the component doesn't work properly. The strange thing is, if I change the DOCTYPE declaration to : <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> then everything works fine in both IE and FF. My problem is that I need to keep the 1st DOCTYPE and can't use the second. Would appreciate if someone could help me figure out why the page does not work in IE.
