HTML - Why The Table I Have Dont Expand Over Browser Borders When Sum Of Td Widths Is Bigger
why the table i have dont expand over browser borders when sum of td widths is bigger than screen width?
How can i overcome this problem? Similar TutorialsHello I'm new to HTML Now straight to the point : I have a web page that looks too big when screen resolution is 1024x786 , but on the other pc (screen resolution 1280x1024 ) the same page looks too small and I have white spaces around it. I want my whole page with it's elements adapt to the browser window size and fit exactly to it ( I don't want to see that scrolling thing on the right or bottom ). You could just give me the link of the function/code I have to use. Here is my code if that helps. Code: <html> <title>AiiT</title> <body background="b.png" style="background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:center center; width: 1024px;height:768px;"> <div style="background-image: url('1.png'); width:764px; height:557px; position: absolute; top: 12%; left: 50%; margin-left: -382px; text-align:center; "><div style="background-image: url('Tr.png'); background-repeat:no-repeat; position: relative; left:30px; top:30px;"><img src="Her.png" border="0" style="margin-top:10px;"><br><br> <a href="en/"><img src="an.png" border="0"></a> <a href="lt/"><img src="li.png" border="0"></a><br><br><img src="Logo.png" border=0"></div></div> </body> </html> Help appreciated. Why the "R w50" text is not on the right?? And why the widths on the top table are not correct? How can I fix it? As per attached pic, I'm trying to get the three main columns to be exactly 300 however it is putting it as 300 (308) in the design view which means the backgrounds in some of the table cells are repeating as shown in box and the text is spreading across the table cell width of what the figure is in brackets and not the 300 I want it to be. Any one got any ideas - its driving me nuts ! Hi all, thank you in advance to anyone that can help. I'm sure this is probably an issue that has been covered in the past however I have had no luck finding it. I have a 2 column table with an iframe the left column. Firefox shows this correctly, the edge of the cell meets with the iframe etc, but when viewed in IE, the table widths change dramatically. I have inserted two images (firefox v IE) to show what is happening. If anyone can find what I have done wrong, I would greatly appreciated. Please, keep the replies in simple terms, I'm a bit of a n00b... As you can see, the gray table background has overlapped over the iframe. Hi all, thank you in advance to anyone that can help. HTML Code: <table width="100%-100px"> Hi guys, I have a problem with table widths used to arrange content on a website. Why am I not using DIVs? Because it's too time consuming at the moment to convert it over, and my client is not familiar with DIVs and has no time to learn it. So I have to stick to using tables for him to maintain on his own. Here's a quick rundown on my table layout. ----------------------------- |TD1-------------|TD1a****| ------------------ |TD2-------------|********| ------------------ |TD3-------------|********| ------------------ |TD4-------------|********| |Table 2----------|********| ------------------------------ |TD5-------------|********| ------------------------------ That's my attempt to illustrate my layout. I'm using * and - as fillers, the editor removes all the empty spaces... My problem is, TD1 to TD3 and TD5 aligns nicely vertically - they all have the same / correct width. However, TD4 with a table inside is slight shorter in width than it should. About 1 or 2 px. The following shows the screenshots. zoomed in.... I need to get that TD4 with the table inside to have the same width as the others. I have tried removing all BORDER and BORDERCOLOR codes from all the table tags, no use. I tried using both CSS and the table tag WIDTH to control it, still doesn't work. Need suggestions!! Please click here to see my code. It's a little messy... http://www.thienkaiwei.com/index7.html Perhaps it's just me, but I recently noticed this and I'm curious as to how it works. I don't even know if this is the right forum for this though. Take a look at these two pictures and websites. http://www.slidedeck.com/examples/reddal http://www.friendgiftr.com/ If you notice in the picture and the actual website, the first example does not show a tiny dotted border around the link that you click. But on the second site, clicking on a link will have that link surrounded by the thin dotted border. At least that's how it is for me on the latest version of Firefox and Internet Explorer. Is this something browser based? Or what? Why the inconsistency? Can someone help me ? I have a table on a site and I want, by clicking a button, to expand the table down then, by pushing the button again, or other button, to return to its initial size. I was wondering if anyone has a solution that would allow the content area to stretch without showing the grey background behind the surrounding images, as shown in the screenshot. The bottom row can be extended without issue, but by default when content is added to the content area its the middle row that is extending. How can i stop this? Also i need to centre both the tables, but one is an absolute div. Is there someway i can centre these but ensure that both tables are always aligned on top of each other? Ive tried several different approaches but i never get the result i am looking for. Can anyone help me out with this? Kudos for the site, looks like a helpful and fun place. Liking all the crazy colors, too My issue is the following. Don't know what I did in my code to cause this, but although it is properly defined when inserted and I can see it in Dreamweaver, the border to my tables does not appear in browsers. Can't think of what might be wrong. Thanks. |
