HTML - Help With Tables And Firefox
Hello all,
I am working on a site and having 2 problems. 1. How do you center a whole table? I try table align="center" but it centers all the elements 2. I try to do table width=80% and in IE it works but it doesnt work in firefox Anyone have any ideas? Similar TutorialsThis page looks fine in IE but tables are too wide in Firefox. Can anyone tell me what I need to change? http://tinyurl.com/2crnbe Thanks! There's something wrong with the tables on the site I'm currently working on.. There's no errors of any kind, but they're acting kind of odd.. I tried to make the code as clean as possible, but since this is a dynamic page, that isn't always easy. In Firefox i get a gap from time to time in the cell background of the page. But if i try to update it gets fixed. In Opera it stays like this all the time Here's a link to the page http://svolvar-jff.net/new/index.php?side=aktiviteter&id=12 I got a prob: the site i'm designing looks great in IE, but in Firefox, all the tables collapse and it looks crap. i've taken care to sort the opacity of my transparent divs with the "-moz-opacity" tag, but is there a tag that does the same for tables? check it out he http://www.creativetruth.co.za/divercity/index.html Hi I need help in tables with 100%. Actually i am keeping a table with 100% fihed width in a <td>, but when i am minimising the IE or Firefox browser the columns are reducing , how to solve the problem I have run into a problem when using tables in Firefox. I code for IE 6.0 and I like my browser to determine when to put text on a new line once the table width has been reached. Rather than put breaks <br> in my text I just let the browser decide. When I open a page in Firefox it does not wrap the text within the table it just allows the text to flow to the right until the end of the text occurs. To fix this I now have to use <br> whenever I want a new line to begin but this creates other problems when others view my pages in IE 6 or IE 7 as the line breaks are now choppy sometimes consisting of one word on a line. My screen resolution is 1280x1024 but if someone does not have this resolution the page is a mess. I am using Dreamweaver as my editor and Firefox 2.0.0.15. Works just fine with IE 6 or IE 7. Can anyone help me with this? Here is an example of a page that I been forced to put <br> at the end of each line: http://www.outdoorphotographycanada.com/dwilson.html Thanks, Dave I hand coded my website myself, but whilst working perfectly in IE, there are some problems when viewing it using Firefox. Specifically, the table rows have double-spacings (scroll down to the 'Education' section he www.lombrozo.co.uk/resume.html), and also table borders have a 3D look (a black border to emphasise the shadow), again, this shadow is not visible in IE... Any ideas anyone? Any help would be most appreciated! http://www.yandina.com/JIndex.htm Open in Firefox, Chrome or Safari - - - that is what it is supposed to look like. Open in IE and the last table get overlaid on top of the previous table. What sort of things can cause that? Additional (unrelated I think) problem, IE is not accessing cookies but others are fine. What can cause that? Hi Normally, when you have more than one table in your code, the tables will be placed one under each other. Example: <table> ... </table> <table> ... </table> When you want the tables to be placed next to each other, you need to set the align attribute. Example: <table align="left"> ... </table> <table align="left"> ... </table> BUT: When you do it like in the 2nd example (tables next to each other), in Firefox, the tables will wrap to a new line if there is no more space. In Internet Explorer, the tables will not wrap. The result is a horizontal scrollbar or "hidden tables". Why this? How can I make the tables wrap also in Internet Explorer as it does in Firefox? Is it possible with a special CSS definition or with a special DIV/SPAN tag? Thanks for your help praiser Hey everyone, I'm new to these boards. Somewhat a newbie at web design, but I know basics. I'm looking to put 2 tables adjacent to each other inside another table. My problem is I can't get the tables to line up the way I want them to. I'll post a picture of how I want it to look, how it looks now and my code. How I want it to look: How it looks now: I want the tables to line up at the top and re-size according to each other so they're always aligned at the top. Code: coming in next 2 posts Hello, I am pretty new to the whole html world so forgive me if this is a simple problem. I have look all over for a post explaing this problem but i haven't found anything. I am making a site for a friend using Dreamweaver. I know i know, i regret not coding it from scratch but its too late now. Anyways I have a pretty good page layout going now but I have ran into a problem with loading my images. On my home page an image in a table nested inside another table will load when viewing in safari but seems to disappear in firefox. What is going on? Its a pretty simple piece of code. I place; <img src="Pictures/RDV couplepalm.jpg" width="200" height="" style="float:right; padding: 8px; margin-left:10px; margin-bottom: 10px" / inside of a paragraph in a row of a table. I have rewritten the code for this image, copied it from a working image and screwed around with the table heights (although I wasn't too sure what i was doing). What else should I try? I have attached screen shots of the site in both browsers a copy of the problem jpeg aswell as a copy of the html. Any information anyone could givee me would be REALLY appreciated! Thank you. Ok so you can see from my attachment what I want. I want the bottom row to be all-in-one, so I can centre (center..) the text. But not sure how to do this. Code: <tr> <td>username</td> <td>password</td> </tr> <tr> <td>forms....</td> <td>..........</td> </tr> <tr> ......how to get it to display all of this one? </tr> <td> Ok I'm trying to get a page to look like this I did it with images, so theres no text. So there's 4 images basically I tried to do a table like this Quote: <table border="0"> <tr> <td><a href="http://milkshakekicks.com/kicks/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=10&zenid=c1961df3cad20f9854cb47801f 85ee4d"><img src="http://milkshakekicks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/picture-1.png" alt="" /></a></td> <td><img src="http://milkshakekicks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/picture-2.png" alt="" />, <img src="http://milkshakekicks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/picture-3.png" alt="" />, <a href="http://milkshakekicks.com/kicks/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=10 amp;zenid=c1961df3cad20f9854cb47801f85ee4d"><img style="border: 1px solid grey;" src="http://milkshakekicks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/battle_homepage.png" alt="" width="209" height="179" /></a></td> </tr> </table> but got this Should I not do this with tables? I have a table I created and I want to have a page that allows you to fill in text boxes to answer questions and then when submitted it will put the answers in the correct cell of the table. I have no idea how to do this and am limited in my html skill. If some one could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it greatly. http://www.roleplayingmaps.net/sheet.htm This is the table I have already created. Thanks for taking the time to read. Hey, i'm trying to make a simple site, and right now i have one page with a table centered. That all works good, and when you change the size of your webpage, the table always stays centered. My problem is i would like to do this with DIV, because CSS allows more positing control. Yet, when i put a DIV table somewhere when i change the size of my webbrowser the table just disapears off to the site instead of staying centered (even thou its not set to stay centered) I geuss a better question would be how can i control where the table is, but keep it relitive to the size of the window? With CSS or with HTML. Thanks. Hi everybody, I am kind of a newbie and i have a "big" problem which i can't solve. I created some menu tables on the left side of my site, but I cannot seem to align them to the top of the table and they keep moving to the middle. On one version of this site i "pushed" them upwards with another 100% height invisible table from the bottom but it doesnt seem to work on an other version. Please help me! How could I align the tables to the top inside of another table? Thanks a lot for your help! If I was hardly understandable I'm sorry, I created a little example table: <table height=400 width=600 border=3 bordercolor=#000000><tr> <td width=20% border=3 bordercolor=#000000><table> <td border=3 bordercolor=#000000 align=center><table><tr><td><table border=1 bordercolor=#000000><tr><td><table align=center><tr><td> Menu 1</td></tr></table></td></tr><tr><td><table><tr><td></td><td> <a href="">Button 1</a></td></tr></table></td></tr><tr><td><table> <tr><td></td><td><a href="">Button 2</a></td></tr></table></td></tr> </table></td></tr></table><table><tr><td><table border=1 bordercolor=#000000><tr><td><table align=center><tr><td>Menu 2</td> </tr></table></td></tr><tr><td><table><tr><td> </td><td><a href="">Button 1</a></td></tr></table></td> </tr><tr><td><table><tr><td></td><td> <a href="">Button 2</a></td></tr></table></td></tr></table></td></tr> </table></td> </table></td> <td width=80% border=3 bordercolor=#000000 valign=top align=center>How could I "stick" the menu tables on the left side to the top, like this text on the right side with valign=top? </td></tr><table> EDIT: Title is supposed to be "Tables or CSS" I know, I know - HTML Tables are the spawn of Satan - however, I have a tabbed content box made from html/css/js - when you click on a tab, the content (underneath) changes accordingly. My questions is, I will be having a static list, with the corresponding answers (to the data in the list) targetting from an Excel Driven database - don't ask me why, just what my boss wants... Here is what I have so far: Quote: <TABLE CELLPADDING="2" CELLSPACING="2"> <TR><TD>Sponsor ID:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Client Number:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Sponsor Name:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Brand Name:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Status:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Support Tier:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Sponsor Phone:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Support Phone Number:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Support Email Address:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Parent Name:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Misdirect Scripting:</TD><TD>FILLER TEXT</TD></TR> </TABLE> He wants the content separated in a "ruled" look, like Excel - however, I didn't know if it would be cool to just use HTML - or if there is another way to do this - It's not going out on the internet (it's going on our Intranet via SharePoint) so I'm not worried about conjunctions and standards (not using HTML tables), etc. Just need to know if there is another way to separate the info with a solid black line - horizontal/vertical between the cells - that looks better than an HTML table border. Thanks! I'm starting a forum here, and I really want to get it up soon. But I can't because I'm having trouble w/ the header. On the header there's supposed to be text on top of it, but it's not. It's on the side. Can anyone help? Thank you. Here's the code:
Code: <a name="top"></a> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" width="696px" align="center"> <tr> <td bgcolor="#ddeef7"> <table border="0" cellspacing="1px" cellpadding="6" width="100%"> <tr> <td width="74%" bgcolor="#ffffff"> <table border="0" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td valign="top" rowspan="2"><a href="index.php"><img src="./images/oxygen/logo.png" alt="Ne-YoFan.com Online Community" border="0" /></a></td></tr> <tr> <td align="right" valign="top"><font class="smalltxt">Last active: 14-6-2008 at 08:10 PM<br /></font></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right" valign="bottom"><font class="smalltxt">Logged in as <a href="member.php?action=viewpro&member=Erika">Erika</a><br />[<a href="misc.php?action=logout">Logout</a> - <a href="u2u.php" onclick="Popup(this.href, 'Window', 700, 450); return false;">U2U</a> - <a href="memcp.php">User Control Panel</a> - <a href="cp.php">Administration Panel</a>]</font></td> </tr> </table> Back in 2004, i created a site, with tables. Have no idea how I did it, someone must have helped me. I want to update that site and make the center section wider than the sides (the sides can be of equial width). The URL is http://www.ilovejesus.com/lot/awesomebks/news.shtml Can someonehelp me with this? I need the code from the beginning of the table to the end of that column, that is Column 1, (left side) back to top for Column 2 (center), back to top for Column 3 (right side) and to the bottom of that column. I would like the center column to be at least 2x as wide as the side columns. Tell me how to end the tables and begin the text which will be straight across page. Thanks. Id like to put multiple tables on one of my web pages. Each would contain an RSS feed, but how do i get the tables in the same row ? id like it to look kinda like this in my page. <table1> <table2> <table3> <table4> <table5> <table6> <table7> <table8> <table9> Can anyone tell me how to achieve this? Thanks Jake |
