HTML - Index File Of Downloads??
Hi all
I have a download page on my site, but whilst my site is currently undergoing a facelift, I want to place all my downloads onto an index page that will simply show a list of all the downloadable files within a certain folder I've seen it on a few sites before. He operates a World of Warcraft guild website through DKPSystem.com. While DKPsystem.com does normally use a subdomain for the registered guild, you can implement your own domain through the backend. He has done this. So, here is my problem. What I want to do is create the flash intro and connect it up with a index.html file. Considering that DKPsystem.com uses a structure in which the user cannot upload files via FTP, I have no idea how to implement this flash intro. Any ideas how this would be done? I have completed the web pages, but when I uploaded them to The web site and then go to that web site, I get Index of / With a list of the files, including the index.html file. This is very strange as the old Index.html is recognized. I have googled and found nothing. My question is can I open the file, edit what I need and save it all within filezilla? Or do I need to drag the index.html file to my desktop, edit, save and the drag it back to filezilla? Is there any way I can do that? (and yes I know Mobile Safari can't download most files, but it's for jailbroken iPhones so it's okay). I have created a website for my Dungeons & Dragons gaming group and part of the website has a section where they can download various documents that I have created over the years for the group. Is there any simple and easy (and free!) way that I can require them to put in a password in order to download these files? I am not looking for any fancy encryptions or something that would stump a hacker, but just something that would stump your casual viewer who is not a member of my D&D group. Thanks in advance So I'm working on some "bulk" format emails for my work, and they're just basic HTML designed pages with a few images included in the coding (<img src="www.google.com/image.jpg"></img> ...for example). My problem is, not necessarily the format or design of the email itself, but rather that every time I send the email out, whether it be gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc, it prompts the recipient to download the images, either in full, or individually - as if they were attachments to the email itself. For example (this is what our recipients see when they recieve the email...aside from this, the email looks fine): The email displays correctly, but why does it prompt the recipient to download the images that are encoded in the message? Or better yet, why do other newsletter/bulk emails that I recieve from other companies NOT prompt me to download the individual images? What am I missing here? Thanks for the help! I have been searching on this subject but I can't seem to find the right answers. I would say you would want your page title and navigation to be indexed by search engines. Or in what cases you wouldn't want it to be indexed? The web site is public and serves mainly an informative purpose. Here's my problem: I'm a subsciber with GeoCities/Yahoo, and had my html files stored. When I try upload my stuff to a certain forum I get a "File Not Found" msg. By looking around I learned that the problem might be the "index.htm" file, which needs to for each subdirectory separately. The file uploader.php does nothing, it is blank, I'm merely trying to establish communication. Once again, the code functions in IE and Safari so I dont think this is PHP related. I have my main website called index.html, but since i've added php into the code, i've renamed it to index.php. But I also have a forum, which includes another index.php. I'm wanting to have my index.php page to be the page that people see when they come to my website. Is there anyway that it could happen? Do possible somehow open folder/archive were is a index.html. I wan't to run auto index.html or any default .html .php... I want open folder and browse from files. ??? |
