HTML - Flash Menu With Frames, Trouble Scrolling
I have a Flash menu in a top frame, with a bottom frame that holds the content. Some of the content is large and needs to be scrolled. I would like the site to appear frameless, so the menu scrolls along with the content (so if you scrolled all the way down, you wouldn't see the menu). I initially tried putting it all into another frame, but didn't have much luck with that. I'm open to any suggestions. Let me know if I need to clarify anything. Thanks.
Similar TutorialsHi, I have had to use frames to get an audio loop to run consistently over multiple pages. However the issue i now have is with scrolling. The frame (top bar with just logo and audio script in) remains static when you scroll meaning the main page scrolls seperately. How do i get the whole page to scroll as one!? J hey guys. I don't want the flash text to open a new window when it is clicked. Prefer to have it open in the target mainFrame like i have asked it to. I really have spent hours clicking arond to figure it out. ----(code below from frameset)----

Dragondoo...Simply Positive s

<frameset rows="*" cols="173,*" framespacing="0" frameborder="no" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF"> <frame src="Sidebar.htm" name="leftFrame" frameborder="no" scrolling="NO" noresize marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" title="leftFrame"> <frameset rows="109,*" cols="*" framespacing="0" frameborder="no" border="0"> <frame src="Header.htm" name="topFrame" frameborder="no" scrolling="NO" noresize marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" title="topFrame"> <frame src="nice5.htm" name="mainFrame" frameborder="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" title="mainFrame"> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes>

</noframes>
---------(code below from selecting the top-most flash text information. This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do (with two random sites in the frames for an example)
<frameset cols="800, 800"> <frame src="google.com"> <frame src="yahoo.com"> </frameset>
How that is working right now is that if you reduce the size of the browser then the frames also reduce in size so that they both remain on the page... I don't want this. I want the frames to remain the fixed width (800) and if the browser is not large enough to display them (<1600), I want it to have a scroll bar along the bottom to scroll further right to view them. I don't really ever use frames though, so I'm not quite sure if there's a command to throw in either frameset or frame tags or if there's something else I need to do. Thanks! First timer here. I'm a total noob here that somehow got assigned to design our company's website. My company is very understanding about my lack of experience and is willing to send me to any training I need. So, here's my question: Go to www.whitehouse.gov. I think the pretty scrolling menu at the top is exactly the kind of thing I want on my new website. How do I make something like that? I guess this breaks down into several separate ideas: I look at the source and I see that the menu is all set on a background image file called bg-main-one.jpg. How do you design these kinds of images? I love how you can right-click the submenu and open in a new tab. A lot of these menus I've seen you can't do that. I also love how the hyperlink appears on the status bar. Why isn't it like that everywhere? Hovering the mouse over each menu's title launches a separate menu. Is that just your basic ul li list-item HTML accompaned by extremely complex CSS? So how do I create something like that? What groovy technologies do I need to know? Hi, I am trying to create a scrollable menu for my website and I am looking for either code for what I am trying to do, or the url of any website with a similar type of menu implemented. i have looked around quite a bit and I can't find a site with what I am trying to create. part 1: I want to customize the appearance of my scroll bar so that it uses one small Jpeg for the scroll bar and another one for the scroll handle. part 2: as different titles and sub titles on the menu are clicked the menu expands to reveal new sub categories. I need the scroll handle to only show up once the list has reached the limits of the box. the attached image is a mock up of what i am trying to create to give you a better idea. thank you very much to anyone who can help. ive currently built an html website with a flash menu and would like to use it with iframes so that the menu doesn't have to refresh with page.. unfortunatelly this is my first time working with iframes and i am not sure what code to put into my flash buttons to call the page into the frame. I pretty much understand how to use iframes altogether, just not with flash as well! you can view the website he www.exsystems.co.uk (mind the flash embed, im still working on that too!) if someone would share some knowledge on this i would be very greatful! Hello All. I have been attempting a hover-scrolling menu display for my online art portfolio, however I seem to be unable to 1) put the hover-scrolling menu display into a tab-panel 2) have a second scrolling menu display with different content, underneath the first one, which works separately (at the moment they scroll together when either one of them has the mouse-hovering on) Here are my codes = ---------------------------------------------------------------- Code: body { } div.sc_menu { /* Set it so we could calculate the offsetLeft */ position: relative; height: 280px; width: 500px; overflow: auto; } ul.sc_menu { display: block; height: 230px; /* max width here, for users without javascript */ width: 4915px; padding: 15px 0 0 15px; /* removing default styling */ margin: 0; background: url('navigation.png'); list-style: none; } .sc_menu li { display: block; float: left; padding: 0 4px; } .sc_menu a { display: block; text-decoration: none; } .sc_menu span { display: none; margin-top: 3px; text-align: center; font-size: 12px; color: #fff; } .sc_menu a:hover span { display: block; } .sc_menu img { border: 3px #fff solid; -webkit-border-radius: 3px; -moz-border-radius: 3px; } /* Here are styles for the back button, don't look at them */ #back { display: block; width: 500px; text-align: center; color: #003469; font-size: 16px; }

IMAGE 1

IMAGE 2

IMAGE 3

Code:

Java Popup Window Example

TERM ONE
  <<<attempt to insert scroll-menu 1 >>> <<<attempt to insert scroll-menu 2 >>>

TERM TWO
  <<<attempt to insert scroll-menu here>>>

------------------------------------------------------------ Any suggestions or tips would be very much appreciated Hello guys ! Ok, i have this website: www.global-publicity.com and, how you see, i have two jump menus there . Well i wonder how can i do to click on Choose continent and when i click on Europe automatically open in left and right frames two html pages in there BUT open my second menu also (ROMANIA) Hope you understand and sorry for my bad english... I'm very new to HTML/CSS/Javascript. In the website I'm trying to build, I want to display a relatively simple navigation menu on the left side of the webpage, similar in look to the one here (example): http://build-website.com/design/opportunity.html Is there some way to put the initialization text for the navigation menu in a separate .html file (or, just some other file), so that every time I want to add a section/link to the nav menu, I won't have to go through each of my web pages individually and add the code for the link? (I am not going to use frames because, among other things, that would make it more difficult to bookmark and copy addresses of individual pages) I have been teaching myself through the w3schools tutorials, but despite looking through them and googling for answers I haven't been able to find a solution. Is this possible in HTML? Something that would allow something like like
would be ideal but I haven't been able to find anything. (At the moment I'm just using notepad and typing in code manually) I have a youtube video on front of the school website and a horizontal dropdown menu just slightly above it. What is happening is when i hover over a menu item the drop down menu is going under the youtube video. But this is only happening on IE but not firefox http://www.rosebridge.wigan.sch.uk Does anyone have a idea? Hi All, I have one problem in HTML, I have a HTML file with drop down menu and a flash banner in bottom , while mouse over the menu the drop down is not visible in the top of the flash banner its going back side, can any one help me out how to bring the drop down menu top of the flash banner. And i have frames HTML. I know this question as be asked 10000 Times. How do i get the flash menu to go to my main frame page. It keeps opening in its own window a new window or taken up the hole window with out the frames. I tryed eveything including (release) { getURL ("main.html", "main"); } But it still doesnt work but i have no idear how to get this to work Hello, I would like to get the website menu to appear above the flash object. http://www.greekconcierge.com/weddings.php Currently when you click on "Our Services" this is hidden below the flash image object. many thanks, andy Hello, this is my first message here and I hope it will be for all you experts a serious one. This is my page I am developing right now: http://www.travelevros.gr/main.htm The page has one IFrame that loads its subpage of the flash menu. Please dont tell me to get rid of it, I need that IFrame. The flash menu it is placed outside of that IFrame of course, its container is the main page main.htm. In IE, everything works ok and the menu (as transparent) drops down nicely and the user can click the submenus alright, even if they are above the IFrame area. But with Firefox Mozilla, even though the menu drops down nicely too, the user cannot click the submenus, not even the links inside the IFrame page (that covered from the swf rectangular region). So there is a confusion in the Mozilla browser, where to send the click events: to the flash menu or the html page located in the IFrame. What should I do to make this work with Firefox Mozilla? I've tried some solutions i've found in Google, like entering the "z-index" property, placing the flash menu and/or IFrame inside a DIV layer, but I couldnt make it to work. The submenus still cannot be clicked when they drop over the IFrame content. As I said, in IE works fine. I've found somewhere else that the tip for this problem is to place the menu in a DIV and make that DIV load AFTER the IFrame is displayed, at the end of the page, thing that I dont have the knowledge to do. If this is right solution, can somebody help me doing this? On the other hand, if there is some other solution then I am ready to listen. Thank you very much for your time. p/s Check the first menu on the left, it works in Mozilla too, but thats because this region its outside the IFrame. The other menu choices falls down to the IFrame region, so the problem is with the layer placement. Where I have a flash drop down nav bar on top of html it is disabling the links that are underneath the flash nav bar. In firefox even the links in the nav bar do not work where they overlap. Hi I'm trying to make a menu that has sub-menus within it. It will be a vertical menu and right now I'm still working it out so it's not as graphically pleasing as I intend it to be. But before I go any further in the menu I'm trying to figure out how to get the submenu to have links in it. I was just wondering if someone could lend their input on how to get the sub-menus to have links. Here's the Code(I included the style in the page)- Code:

Item 1 Description of link 1

Item 2 Description of link 2

Item 3 dhsf dshsdg Description of link 3

Item 4 Description of link 4

Item 5 Description of link 5

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately I haven't quite solved this horizontal menu that I'm trying to get displayed correctly, just yet. This is my latest code: CSS Code: #headerNavMenuContainer { background: url('images/main_nav_bar2.gif') no-repeat center; float: left; height: 42px; width: 100%; margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; } #headerNavMenu ul { height: 42px; /* the height of the menu bar */ border: 1px solid #000; /* to make sure DIV displays at desired dimensions */ margin: 0 auto; /* i'm not entirely sure what 'auto' does */ text-align: center; /* i don't know how to center vertically in DIV */ } #headerNavMenu li { height: 42px; margin: 0 auto; display: inline; height: 100%; text-align: center; border-right: 1px solid #f00; list-style-type: none; } #headerNavMenu li a { height: 42px; margin: 0 auto; color: #000; text-decoration: none; } HTML Code:

Home

Products

Encyclopedia

Forum

The Truth

About Us

Contact

Publications

The pics below show what I currently have and what I'm trying to get to. I thought for sure that after all the helped I've received so far (many thanks, btw) that I'd be able to setup a horizontal menu using UL/LIs with some CSS. I've studied many other sites that use horizontal menues this way and have tried to figure 'em out but no luck so far Here's my attempted code so far: CSS Code: #headerNavMenuContainer { background: url('images/main_nav_bar2.gif'); float: left; border: 1px solid #000; height: 42px; width: 100%; } #headerNavMenu ul { font-weight: 800; text-align: center; } #headerNavMenu ul a { border-right: 1px solid #dadada; color: #000; text-decoration: none; } HTML Code:

Home

Products

Encyclopedia

Forum

The Truth

About Us

Contact

Publications

|
