JavaScript - Javascript/css Page Jumping Problem
I have a div which toggles visible, ie, it disappears when you click "close"
with Code: <a href='#' onclick="toggle_visibility('div1'); toggle_visibility('div2'); return false;" >Close </a> which calls this: Code: function toggle_visibility(id) { var e = document.getElementById(id); if(e.style.display == 'block') e.style.display = 'none'; else e.style.display = 'block'; } The problem I have is that when I click that button, the page jumps down to center on exactly where I clicked. This is really unwanted, I was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks for your time. I have created an image gallery, which uses a series of thumbnail images, displayed at the bottom of the page, with a space for a larger image in the centre of the page. When you click on the thumbnail images, a larger version of the thumbnail is displayed on the centre of the web page. Only thing is that each time you click the thumbnail, the web page scrolls up to the top, and hence you have to scroll back down again, to be able to click on the next thumbnail image. Is there a reason for this jumping page, and if so, how can I resolve it? The code I have used is as follows; <script> function showImage(imageName){ document.largePicture.src = imageName; } function thumb_description(description){ document.getElementById("thumb_desc").innerHTML=(description) } </script> <body> code for large center image: <div class="large_img"><img name="largePicture" src="lm_1.jpg" height="300" width="273" /></div> <br /> <p id="thumb_desc" class="name_desc"></p></td> code for small thumbnail image <a href="#" onclick="showImage('j_rosseau1.jpg');thumb_description('Jacqueline Rosseau Womenswear')"> <img src="j_rosseau1.jpg" height="100" width="108" /> </a> </body> Any tips, suggestions will be very helpful as the last thing I want is to annoy users with a hop-skip page!! Thanks very much in advance. Nonye Is there anyway to stop the page 'jumping to the top' when using a link like the below? Code: <a href="#" onClick="arrangeCards();">blah</a> .. I just want it to stay in the same position on the page & not jump to the top of the page every time a link like that is clicked. Cheers! Hey all, so im working on a piece of jquery/JS which executes (drops down a new div) when you click a link. I have the links setup as <a href="#" id="d0">Execute 1</a> <a href="#" id="d1">Execute 2</a> <a href="#" id="d2">Execute 3</a> And the jscript detects when d0, d1 or d2 is clicked and executes my script. It all works perfectly, however when you click on a link it will jump to the top of the page as a side effect of the a href="#" I assume? Is there anyway to have my same effect work inline (without jumping the page to the top) ? Thank you very much! I have this script which is set to generate random anagrams of my name in rotation which works fine, but I can't work out how to put multiple instances of it on one page. if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful. thanks the code is var quotations = new Array() quotations[0]= "germaine arnold" quotations[1]= "endearing moral" quotations[2]= "analog reminder" quotations[3]= "regained normal" quotations[4]= "renaming ordeal" quotations[5]= "nominal regrade" quotations[6]= "arraigned lemon" quotations[7]= "ringleader moan" quotations[8]= "mineral groaned" function display() { a=Math.floor(Math.random()*quotations.length) document.getElementById('quotation').innerHTML=quotations[a] setTimeout("display()",5000) } and i'm calling the function using: <div id="quotation"> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript">display()</SCRIPT> </div> I have the following javascript function: [ function addNewWindowEvent(evType, fn) { if (window.addEventListener) { this.addEventListener("load", fn, false); return true; } else if (window.attachEvent) { var onload = "onload" this.attachEvent(onload, fn); return true; } else { return false; } } ] which is giving me a an exception every time a page on our site loads. The actual exception in firefox is this: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT_JS)" location: "JS frame :: https://cms-dev.stchas.edu/global/js/hdvscripts.js :: addNewWindowEvent :: line 5" data: no] and I'm not sure exactly what it's complaining about. I'm relatively new to javascript so diagnosing and fixing this problem has me quite puzzled, and so far I have been unable to find anything helpful when I try and google for information on this. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks. henryv Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. hello guys the idea is to make "offline" bill of lading i used to do php thing and well this time i only need to kinda make bill of lading generator so i want to pass value from page 1 to page 2 and to page . all offline without web server interaction i was never fluent in javascript and i wanted to get a quick start from you guys how do i pass the form ( javascript variable from 1 page to another page ) i am googling this as well right now and hoping answer from codingforums thanks I got an index.php Code: <html> <form action="bacakomik.php" method='post'> <select name="kodekomik"> <option value='../komik1/|23'>Judul Komik1</option> <option value="../komik2/|20">Judul Komik2</option> <option value="../komik3/|10">Juduk Komik3</option> <option value="../komik4/|20">Judul Komik4</option> </select> <input type="submit" /> </form> <?php echo ('<select>'); echo ('<option value= "'.$i.'">'.'Page '.$i.'</option>'); echo ('</select>'); ?> </html> As you can see, each of the option brings specific value "../komik1/|23" komik1 is a directory | is a delimiter 23 is the pages in one chapter and can be considered also as how many images are there on a specific directory This is my bacakomik.php Code: <?php $dirkomik = $_POST['kodekomik']; $exploded = explode("|", $dirkomik); echo ($exploded[0]); //picture directory echo ("<br>"); echo ($exploded[1]); //total page in the comic $pagecount = (int)$exploded[1]; //Take last posted value, process it right away echo ('<FORM name="guideform"> '); echo ('<select name="guidelinks">'); $i=1; do { echo ('<option value= "'.$i.'">'.'Page '.$i.'</option>'); $i= $i+1; }while($i <= $pagecount); //Printing option and select echo ("</select>"); ?> <input type="button" name="go" value="Go!" onClick="document.getElementById('im').src=document.guideform.guidelinks.options[document.guideform.guidelinks.selectedIndex].value+'.png';"> </FORM> <img src="img0.jpg" id="im"> With the current code on bacakomik.php, I only can change the img src of id "im" in the same directory only. What I want is that the Javascript could "add" the "$exploded[0]" variable so that the picture can be loaded from different directory. Anyone can do this? I believe that the fix should be somewhere on input tag inside OnClick, or do you know where? Anyway, I found this on the net http://p2p.wrox.com/php-faqs/11606-q...avascript.html Please help me to those who can... http://www.ebay.com/ctg/NorthPoint-N...1&_rptype=4295 At the above URL if you scroll down the page a little bit on the left bottom of the site you will see a image appear with an up arrow. If you click it it takes you to the top of the page. Could someone give directions on installing this script on a website. I would like to add this feature to my website. Thanks in advance for the help Hi guys, i have a code where if you press on a word some words disappear and new ones appear and then when you press on the word again everything goes back to normal. I am trying to get it so that after the first click if i press back it should go back to normal instead of having to press the word again but all i am getting at the moment when i press back is the the page with the changed text. I have a very simple problem, but I can't find the answer. How do I run an html page?? <script type="text/javascript" > var curdate=new Date(); if (curdate.getMonth()+1 ==1){ document.write("<img src='Images/Menu Pictures/05/homepage.gif'>"); the above line works document.write("<href src='menu05.htm'>"); The above line doesn't work } else if (curdate.getMonth()+1==2){ Quote: Originally Posted by mlseim hmmm .... sort of stumped. It's using the same code that I had above (in post #2). how would you put <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.catpin.com/bumper_sticker3.php"></script> into a function for javascript to call this php file? I have a tab that scrolls through images in a frame through javascript. It works in one page, but not the other. I'm trying to get the page not working to work, obviously. I also have checked and temporarily fixed validation errors, and that doesn't help. Working page: www.happydogwebproductions.com Same images in different page: http://www.happydogwebproductions.co...--css-websites I've been trying the "BDirect lists" on both pages. Java: "new SimpleSlide". Just when I think I am close, I can't get it to work. Going mental. Thanks for any help All, Does anyone have any examples or links of some free Javascript code that will turn the pages of your website when you click the mouse and drag the "page"? Thanks in advance for any ideas! The latest version of Opera for some reason will open popup windows using the same magnification as the parent window. For example, if you've zoomed a page to 150%, popups from the page also open in 150% magnification. This may not seem like a problem but it is, because the javascript for popups must specify the size of the popup window. Therefore, if any magnification occurs the window that opens will be too small for the enclosed text or image. The simplest solution would be if I can install a javascript onto a page that will require it to open up in 100% (non-magnified) mode. Any idea if this is possible? If not, is there any other solution? Much thanks. The website I'm updating is peachbasketonline.com. I am not the original web designer. I'm trying to reach an install page that is located in the directory, but anytime I go to a page outside of the site navigation (i.e. part of site navigation: About Us works fine, versus a page outside of site navigation: peachbasketonline.com/anythingelse) it automatically takes you back to the home page. Is there enough info here for someone to tell me if javascript is doing this? I just don't know what I'm looking for. Hi, I am very new to Javascript and am having some difficulties with implementing two forms on the same page. The page in question is http://www.devoteddomains.com/contac...ed-domains.asp. The form at the top appears on every page and works on all of the other pages except this one. When you try to complete the form it validates the second form on the page. The code for the top form can be found he http://www.devoteddomains.com/web-de...vices-cta.html (it is an include file). The two scripts that I am using are as follows: Top Form: http://www.devoteddomains.com/scripts/scripts.js Contact Page Form: http://www.devoteddomains.com/scripts2/scripts.js Can someone please help!
