JavaScript - Quick Easy Question - Change Source Of An Image.
I need to change the source of an image but I can't seem to figure out how. I believe that I have the correct syntax, but it does not seem to be working. Maybe I am typing it in wrong or something.
I try to test my javascript by typing the script: <strong>javascript:document.getElementById('img1').src='./images/image1.jpg';</strong> into the address bar. Nothing happens. I also try to test it out by putting this on the page, but once again, nothing happens. Code: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- document.getElementById('im1').src="./scripts/'.$upload_image.'"; //--></script> This is what my HTML code looks like: Code: <img src="./images/temp_wizard_picture.gif" alt="" style="padding:4px; background:#fff; border:1px #bbb solid;" id="img1" /> Can somebody please fill me in on what I am doing wrong. Thank you. Similar TutorialsI can not figure out why my function is not working or why my alert does not pop up.. can anyone help? When you enter a total in the box, all I need to do is have a total with shipping show up in an alert box. (Minimum shipping is $1.50, if the total is over $25 shipping is 10%) <code> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>CalcShipping</title> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ function calcShipping() { var priceInput; var total; priceInput = document.form1.subtotal.value; if (priceInput <= 25) total = 1.5 + number(priceInput); } else { total = number(priceInput) + (number(priceInput) * .1); } window.alert("Your total is $" + total + ); /* ]]> */ </script> </head> <body> <h1>To find out your shipping costs, please enter your purchase price:</h1> <form action ="" name ="form" method = "post" onsubmit="calcShipping();"> <div style="text-align: center"> <input type="text" name="subtotal" value= ""/> <input type="submit" value ="submit"/> </div> </form> </body> </html> </code> I need someone to make a small modification to this javascript code: <script type = "text/javascript"> function hyperlink() { var url = (location.href) url = url.replace(/\.(html)/i, "_2.html") window.location.href = url; } </script> Here is the situation: On this webpage: http://tehcake.com/video/30rock/2x14%20-%20Copyx.html where it says "Backup Links 1 2", if you click on the "1" in "Backup Links 1 2" it goes to this webpage, which is what it is supposed to do: http://tehcake.com/video/30rock/2x14%20-%20Copyx_2.html However, on this webpage, where it says "Backup Links 1 2", if you click on the "1" in "Backup Links 1 2" it leads to a non existing page by adding an extra "_2" to the end of the file name. Anyways, I need a way to modify this code (same one as above): <script type = "text/javascript"> function hyperlink() { var url = (location.href) url = url.replace(/\.(html)/i, "_2.html") window.location.href = url; } </script> This script subtracts ".html" and adds "_2.html" to the URL. Anyways, i need to change it so that if the filename has an _2.html in the file name, like in this URL: http://tehcake.com/video/30rock/2x14%20-%20Copyx_2.html the script would not add an extra _2 to the URL, instead it would just link to the same page. I dont know much about javascript so I need help to make this change. Very new to Javascript (been a HTML/CSS guy for a while, but never really got into more than tinkering with other other people's Javascript coding), but I came across a situation I can't find canned coding for, and trying to create it from bits and pieces I Googled has led me to a dead-end. In summary, I have a website that I frequently visit (FWIW, Firefox 3.x is my browser of choice) with many image sources referring to URLs that end with "-thumbnail.jpg". However, for better image quality, I am trying to use Greasemonkey to replace all instances of "-thumbnail.jpg" in the source of images on this site with "-bigthumbnail.jpg". The closest I could think of was to somehow use getElementsByTagName and innerHTML.replace, but realized that innerHTML does not do HTML, only content. Below is as far as I tried to get on my own, I appreciate any assistance from the folks here to help a JS novice like myself, thanks! Code: (function() { var as,ae; as = document.getElementsByTagName("img"); for (var i = 0; i < as.length; i++) { ae = as[i]; ae.innerHTML = ae.innerHTML.replace(/-thumbnail/gi, "-bigthumbnail"); } })(); Hi, I try to change script source dynamically. When I use the following code, it works fine, and the script is executed Code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('<script src="http://gamestoenjoy.com/site/test.php"'); </script> However when I use the following code, it doesn't work, the script isn't executed Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var url = "http://gamestoenjoy.com/site/test.php"; document.write('<script src=url>'); </script> The only difference between the codes is that in the first code I use constant sting, and in the second code I use variable, in order to make the source dynamic. Please help me to solve this problem. Hi! I want to insert flash player on my page, that user can change flv source. But I dont know how to make input field that change flv source. I have a single web page that loads several iframes. One of the iframe pages has to be logged in first. I have that taken care of but once the page is loaded I need to change the source to a link with in the page. My guess is I need something to execute the code like a onload or something. This is what Ive been trying to get to work but like I said a newb! The iframe in question is named "cad" the initial source once loaded is 'https://urlname.com/mainmenu.asp' the source I need to change to is 'https://urlname.com/UnitStatusF.asp?agency_id=28' [CODE] function ChangesSrc() { var iframeid = document.getElementById(cad); var unitstatus = 'https://urlname.com/UnitStatusF.asp?agency_id=28' if (iframeid.src = 'https://urlname.com/mainmenu.asp') iframeid.src = unitstaus; return false; } [[CODE] Hi - I'm working in ASP.Net 2.0. My page has a GridView control, which is populated by a SQLDataSource. The GridView has one Button control per row. The button has a client-side javascript function (ShowDelete) attached to its OnClientClick event on DataBinding of the GridView. This event fires some javascript. The javascript does 3 things: - It changes the text of the button from "Hide" to "Create" - It changes the background color of the button from red to green - It assigns a new onClientClick event to the button: "ShowAvailable" The text and the color of the button change with no problem. After I change the OnClientClick event, I send an alert with the button's OnClientClick event and it reports it to be "ShowAvailable". However, when I click on the button, it doesn't fire ShowAvailable, it fires the original onClientClick event (ShowDelete). Also, when I do View Source, it shows the button's text, color and OnClientClick event as their original settings, i.e., "Hidden", "Red" and "ShowDelete", even though I'm looking at a green button that says "Create." What's going on here? Here's the code I use to attach the OnClientClick event on DataBinding of the GridView: Code: foreach (GridViewRow row in this.gvLocation.Rows) { if (row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow || row.RowType == DataControlRowType.EmptyDataRow) { int rowindex = row.RowIndex + 1; //to exclude the header which is counted as a row when we get to javascript btnAction.OnClientClick = "ShowDelete(" + rowindex.ToString() + "); return false"; } } Here's the javascript for ShowDelete: Code: function ShowDelete(rowindex) { var locationgridID = '<%= gvLocation.ClientID %>'; locationgrid = document.getElementById(locationgridID); if (locationgrid != null) { action_cell = locationgrid.rows[rowindex].cells[3]; for (k = 0; k < action_cell.childNodes.length; k++) { if (typeof(action_cell.childNodes[k].id) == 'string') { action_cell.childNodes[k].value = "Create"; action_cell.childNodes[k].style.backgroundColor = "Green"; action_cell.childNodes[k].onclientclick = "ShowAvailable(" + rowindex + "); return false"; alert(action_cell.childNodes[k].onclientclick); // reports the OnClientClick event is ShowAvailable } } } } Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! I am just learning javascript. I am playing around with different html elements and document.write. I have a HTML page with elements h1, h2, h3, and h4. I want to write something (in this example "found it") next to the elements. <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var headerList = getElementsByTagNames('h1,h2,h3,h4'); if (headerList) { document.write("Found it!"); } </script> </head> <body> <h1> </h1> <h2> </h2> <h3> </h3> <h4> </h4> </body> Why doesnt this work? I am assuming my logic is flawed? Hey! Sorry if this is a very remedial question, but I'm trying to make a table, of even and odd numbers organized in two columns (with as many rows as it takes to get through the sequence) and I'm having an issue with my code, obviously - haha. I'm still slightly new.. here is my code Code: document.write('<table>'); for (i=1; i < 50; i++) { document.write("<tr>"); for (j = 0; j < 50; j++) { if (j % 2==0) { document.write('<td>' + j + '</td>'); } else { document.write('<td>' + i + '</td>'); } } } document.write("</tr>); document.write("</table>"); Any help would be greatly appreciated! hi guys, l am trying to learn javascript, although certain things seem to be easy to understand, l still have plenty of questions. so l was reading some articles on w3schools and l was an interesting table about operations. http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/...kesnosense.png if you check above's table you will see at the increment section as well decrement , you will see that in some cases the x and y dont have the same value, now l was just wondering, what is the difference between x=++y and x=y++ ? I'm very very new to javasctipt/html programming and have come upon a stump.Let me explain Code: <form name="for1"> <input type="radio" name="fr1"value="1" > 5 <br> <input type="radio" name="fr1"value="2" > Όσα τα pixels<br> <input type="radio" name="fr1"value="3" > Δεν υπάρχει όριο<br> </form> <input type="button" value="Εκχώρηση Απάντησης" onClick="temp=document.for1.fr1.value"> What i was hoping with this is to store the value of the selected radio in a variable. The variable is declared at the beginning (not shown here).I would appreciate greatly if i'm on the right track to please tell me how to make this work and if possible not create functions and other complicated procedures as it will take me out of my "learning curve".Thanks in advance hey i just started javascript, i have a little syntax question: <HTML> <HEAD> <script type="text/javascript"> function ifPrime(input) { thesqrt = Math.sqrt(input) for(a = 2; a <= thesqrt; a++) { if(input % a == 0) return false; } return true; } function nthPrime(input) { for(i = 2; i <= input; i++) { if( ifPrime(i) ) { document.write(i); document.write("<br />"); } } } </script> </HEAD> <BODY> Enter how many primes <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="userInput" SIZE=6> <INPUT TYPE=BUTTON VALUE="Do it" ONCLICK="value = userInput"> <br /> <br /> <script type="text/javascript"> nthPrime(value) </script> </BODY> </HTML> i would like it post 2 3 5 7 when i type in 10 and press the button. how do I do that? any other programing tips would be appreciated This is javascript that turns your current url into a tinyurl. How would I go about getting this to open into a new tab instead of the same tab? Code: javascript:void(location.href='http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)) I don't know much about programming but I can't figure out how this works and I want to implement it on my site. I want to copy the code from this page sdapc.com/billing/pay-online.html and implement something similar. I understand that the form uses post and then goes to form-action.php and the information is verified using the script.js, but how is the information sent anywhere. I mean, I don't see any reference to any script that compiles the data and sends it to the billing department. How do they get the info??? Thanks in advance. P.S. If anyone knows of similar scripts or methods out there of doing this I'm all ears (or eyes) This would just be temporary until full automation is developed. For now, I don't mind entering their info into PayPal myself. I know it's possible to do this in php, but what would the javascript equivalent be? Code: var scripts = new Array(); scripts[] = "PHP"; scripts[] = "ASP"; scripts[] = "JavaScript"; scripts[] = "HTML"; But this obviously doesn't work. And just to clarify, I mean the ability to add an array whenever I want to in my page instead of having to name the array like... Code: var scripts = new Array(); scripts[0] = "PHP"; scripts[1] = "ASP"; scripts[2] = "JavaScript"; scripts[3] = "HTML"; I'm using it for such as in a form: Code: <input type="text" name="formarray[]"> <input type="text" name="formarray[]"> Thank you in advance. Urghh I've always done it this way but it's nagging me. Is there a better way of checking if a value is equal to 1 or 2 or 3 than doing it this way. Code: if(var === Cat || var === Dog || var === Chicken || var === Frog) Not working code ^ lol Cheers guys Hey guys, this should be a very easy fix for someone who knows Javascript (which I don't). The following code allows the class "ul.slideshow-nav li" to control the navigation of the slideshow, I want to adjust this script to allow "ul.slideshow-nav li" AND "ul.slideshow-nav2 li" to do this, possible? Code: $slideshow = { context: false, tabs: false, timeout: 8000, fx: 'scrollLeft', slideSpeed: 900, tabSpeed: 900, init: function() { this.context = $('#content-slideshow'); this.tabs = $('ul.slideshow-nav li', this.context); this.tabs.remove(); this.startSlideshow(); }, startSlideshow: function() { $('div.slideshow > ul', $slideshow.context).cycle({ fx: $slideshow.fx, pager: $('ul.slideshow-nav', $slideshow.context), pagerAnchorBuilder: $slideshow.startTabs, befo $slideshow.Tabactive, timeout: $slideshow.timeout, speed: $slideshow.slideSpeed, fastOnEvent: $slideshow.tabSpeed, pauseOnPagerHover: true, pause: true }); }, startTabs: function(i, slide) { return $slideshow.tabs.eq(i); }, Tabactive: function(currentSlide, nextSlide) { var activeTab = $('a[href="#' + nextSlide.id + '"]', $slideshow.context); if(activeTab.length) { $slideshow.tabs.removeClass('on'); activeTab.parent().addClass('on'); } } }; $(function() { $slideshow.init(); }); using jquery and cookie plugin. i made a popup window. when the user clicks on a check box the window closes, forwards them to a new page, and then sets a cookie. i need it so that when they go back to the original page (where the popup came from) if the browser detects the cookie then the popup does not occur. I do not know why this does not work because when I alert the value of the cookie out, it gives me the correct number. something must be wrong in my logic ? code on the base page. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var test123 = $.cookie('FBCheck'); if ( test123 != 1212){ function popup(Site) { window.open(Site,'PopupName','toolbar=no,statusbar=no, location=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,width=350,height=500') } } </script> code on popup (both files are in same directory) Code: $(document).ready(function() { $("#Cbox").click(function() { window.open ("http://www.google.com", "Google"); window.close(); $.cookie('FBCheck', '1212', {expires: 365, path: '/'}); }); }); The jquery source is installed as is the plugin. Thanks so much for your help in advance! Was wondering if someone could help me quickly, i'm have a strange issue with a slideshow i have built in javascript. The slideshow works fine until you add any other image onto the page like a banner or anything. As soon as you do that when you click next on the slideshow that image or banner with change to the next picture instead of the desired image if that makes any sense... Would appreciate any help, thank you! here is the link to my practice website, so you can see what is going on pretty new to all of this.. http://dpetersen.net46.net/advancedw...l.html?agree=0 can I have a function and a variable be the same name in an object for instance Code: function someObject(){ this.canDoSomething;//a boolean variable function canDoSomething(){ //set this.canDoSomething; return this.canDoSomething; } } or will this be a naming conflict? thanks |
