JavaScript - Two Slide Shows On One Page - One Not Working
I know this is a common problem, and each slide show script is a bit different and I can't get this to work exactly right:
http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...ifferent.shtml I've got two tables containing mouseover image "slide" shows - numbered sequentially but both are on the same index.html page. One image show comes up with the first navigation link, the second image show comes up with the second navigation link. The first image show works, the second doesn't - could you tell me what is causing that. there is a javascript glider that requires them both to be on the same page. link to the page here . . . http://www.sunupdesignbuild.com/NEW/index.html appreciate your help thank you T Similar TutorialsThe code that I have below has three different buttons: When you click then name of each button the image of the button will appear. What I am trying to do is create a mini slide show. Instead of having 3 buttons, I just want one button called "tools" that you click and every time you click the button a different image of a tool will appear. I have heard you can use just about all my code below but add in the modulus operator somehow to achieve this... Does anybody have any suggestions or know how to do this??? <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <style type="text/css"> img {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } </style> </head> <body> <img id="shown" src="/tools/hoe.jpg" alt="hoe"> <script> function imageView(saw) { document.getElementById("shown").src="/tools/"+saw+".jpg"; } imageView('saw'); </script> <p><input type="button" value="Saw" onclick="imageView('saw')"> </p> <p><input type="button" value="Hoe" onclick="imageView('hoe')"> </p> <p><input type="button" value="Tree Trimmer" onclick="imageView('tree_trimmer')"> </p> </body> </html> The menus are supposed to come out from the side, as an animation. I thought I had the correct code but for some reason it isn't working. Could anyone take a look at my Javascript at let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks... Holmes is famous for his use of deductive reasoning to solve difficult and complex cases. Almost all Holmes stories are told in the first-person narration of Dr. John Watson, Holmes' closest friend and confidant.</p> <p>Doyle wrote four novels and 56 short stories in the Sherlock Holmes canon. The first Holmes tale was the novel, <i>A Study in Scarlet</i> which chronicled the meeting of Holmes and Watson and covered their first case together. As Doyle wrote additional tales, the Sherlock Holmes stories grew in popularity, becoming a regular feature of The Strand magazine. Desiring to explore other literary pursuits, Doyle grew tired of the detective and killed off Holmes in the short story <i>The Final Problem</i>. However public acclaim and a desire for more Holmes stories eventually persuaded Doyle to resurrect the popular detective, bringing him back in <i>The Adventure of the Empty House</i>.</p> <p>Doyle's final Holmes story, <i>His Last Bow</i> appeared in 1914, but that did not end the public's fascination with Holmes and Watson. Basil Rathbone brought the character to the silver screen in 14 movies loosely based on Doyle's original stories. In more recent years, Jeremy Brett played Holmes to great critical acclaim over four seasons of the BBC series, <i>The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes</i>. In all, Holmes has been played by over 70 actors appearing in over 200 films.</p> <p>To enjoy online versions of the Sherlock Holmes short stories and novels, select entries from the menu on the left.</p> </div> </form> </div> </body> </html> Javascript: Code: /* New Perspectives on JavaScript, 2nd Edition Tutorial 4 Review Assignment Author: Date: Filename: slides.js ------------------------------------------------------------- Function List: makeMenus() Initializes the contents of the mystery.htm Web page, locating the sliding menus, setting their initial positions and display styles and defining the onevent handlers. showSlide() Shows a sliding menu while hiding any inactive menus closeSlide() Closes an inactive sliding menu moveSlide() Moves a sliding menu horizontally across the page ------------------------------------------------------------- Global Variable List: currentSlide An object variable pointing to the currently active sliding menu timeID A variable containing the id of a timed command using the setInterval method leftPos The current left position of the sliding menu as it is moved across the page ------------------------------------------------------------- */ window.onload = makeMenus; var currentSlide = null; var timeID = null; var leftPos = 0; function makeMenus() { var slideMenus = new Array(); var allElems = document.getElementsByTagName("*"); for (var i = 0; i < allElems.length; i++) { if (allElems[i].className == "slideMenu") slideMenus.push(allElems[i]); } for (var i = 0; i < slideMenus.length; i++) { slideMenus[i].onclick = showSlide; slideMenus[i].getElementsByTagName("ul")[0].style.left = "0px"; } document.getElementsById("head").onclick = closeSlide; document.getElementsById("main").onclick = closeSlide; } function showSlide() { slideList = this.getElementsByTagName("ul")[0]; if (currentSlide && currentSlide.id == slideList.id) { closeSlide(); } else { closeSlide(); currentSlide = slideList; currentSlide.style.display = "block"; timeID = setInterval("moveSlide()", 1); } } function closeSlide() { if (currentSlide) { clearInterval(timeID); currentSlide.style.left = "0px"; currentSlide.style.display = "none"; currentSlide = null; } } function moveSlide() { leftPos += 5; if (parseInt(currentSlide.style.left) <=220) { currentSlide.style.left = leftPos + "px"; } else { clearInterval(timeID); leftPos = 0; } } CSS Code: /* New Perspectives on JavaScript, 2nd Edition Tutorial 4 Review Assignment Author: Date: Filename: mblog.css This file contains styles used in the sherlock.htm file. */ * {padding: 0px; margin: 0px; line-height: 1.2} body {background-color: white; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px} #page {position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 10px; width: 1000px} a {text-decoration: none; color: black} p {margin: 15px 0px} #head {width: 800px; height: 108px; background-color: white; border-bottom: 1px solid black; margin-bottom: 10px} #head img {float: left} #head label {float: right; margin-top: 15px; margin-right: 10px} #head input {float: right; margin-top: 15px; background-color: ivory} #main {float: left; margin-left: 20px; z-index: 1; width: 600px; background-color: white} #firstp {margin-top: 0px} #firstp:first-line {font-variant: small-caps; font-weight: bold} #firstp:first-letter {float: left; font-size: 400%; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 0.8; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px} #linkList {width: 225px; background: rgb(0, 14, 238); float: left} #linkList ul {list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px} #linkList a {font: bold 11px/16px arial, helvetica, sans-serif; display: block; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; border-color: #ccc #888 #555 #bbb; margin: 0px; padding: 2px 3px} #linkList a {color: black; background-color: rgb(172, 172, 172); text-decoration: none} #linkList a:hover {color: white; background: rgb(0, 0, 255)} #linkList li {position: relative} #linkList ul ul ul {position: absolute; display: none; top: 0px; left: 100%; width: 100%} #linkList .arrow {position: absolute; left: 210px; border-width: 0px} #linkList .newGroup {border-top: 1px solid red; z-index: 2} #linkList .slideMenu > a {z-index: 2; position: relative} I am trying to build a 2-column table with a slidedown effect in each cell: http://www.inroadsracing.com/team5.html Thought I would be clever and copy the first cell into the others and change the content. The javascript is external. There's a link on the homepage that when clicked needs to open the Projects page with the appropriate slide loaded. How do I do that? Here's the code I have for the slideshow: Code: var prev = document.getElementById('prev'); var next = document.getElementById('next'); var current = 0; function prevPic() { clearInterval(interval); if(current > 0) { current--; if(current == 0) { document.getElementById('next').src = "images/right_arrow.jpg"; document.getElementById('prev').src = "images/left_arrow_off.jpg"; } else { document.getElementById('next').src = "images/right_arrow.jpg"; document.getElementById('prev').src = "images/left_arrow.jpg"; } update(); } } function nextPic() { clearInterval(interval); if(current < slides.length - 1) { current++; if(current == slides.length - 1) { document.getElementById('next').src = "images/right_arrow_off.jpg"; document.getElementById('prev').src = "images/left_arrow.jpg"; } else { document.getElementById('next').src = "images/right_arrow.jpg"; document.getElementById('prev').src = "images/left_arrow.jpg"; } update(); } } function update() { var pic = slides[current]; document.getElementById('project_title').innerHTML = pic.title; document.getElementById('project_image').src = "images/slides/" + pic.image; document.getElementById('project_location').innerHTML = "<span>Location:</span> " + pic.location; document.getElementById('project_operation').innerHTML = "<span>Commercial Operation:</span> " + pic.commercial_operation; document.getElementById('counter').innerHTML = (current + 1) + " of " + slides.length; if(pic.link) { document.getElementById('project_link').style.display = "block"; document.getElementById('project_href').href = pic.link; } else { document.getElementById('project_link').style.display = "none"; } } //preload slides var images = []; for(i in slides) { var img = new Image(); img.src = "images/slides/" + slides[i].image; images.push(img); } Knowing just enough about javascript to get myself in trouble, I have put three timed javascripts to appear from 18 December to the 1 January on three pages of my sister's website. The scripts are on the main index for the site; the index page for the bibliography folder /bibliography/ and in the education folder on just one page: /education/educationlinks.html. Part one of the script inserts the css file; part two of the script inserts a "snowing" script and part three inserts a "make it stop snowing/let it snow" script. Everything is working perfectly for the main index page and the bibliography page. But I cannot figure out why the 3rd "make it stop snowing/let it snow" refuses to show up on the page in the education folder (the snowing javascript IS working on all three pages). There are no errors being thrown and the education page validates. This is the coding for the 3rd script: Code: // snowscript part 3: Show the script between 19-31 Dec and 1 Jan var date = new Date(); var d = date.getDate(); var m = date.getMonth() + 1; dm = d + m; if (m = 12) { if (d > 18) { document.write('<script src="/scripts/snowlinkswitch.js" type="text/javascript" id="snow"></script>'); } else { document.write(''); } } else if (dm == 1,1) { document.write('<script src="/scripts/snowlinkswitch.js" type="text/javascript"></script>'); } else { document.write(''); } This is the coding for snowlinkswitch.js Code: function myhref(){ document.getElementById('myAnchor').innerHTML="please let it snow!"; document.getElementById('myAnchor').href=location.href; document.getElementById('myAnchor').title="let it snow! let it snow!"; document.getElementById('myAnchor').onclick="location.reload(); startstop('spanstyle'); return false;"; } // document.write ('<div id="snowlinks"><img src="/images/snow3aa.gif" width="11" height="11" border="0" alt="*"> <a id="myAnchor" href="" onclick="myhref();hidesnow(); return false;" title="please make it stop snowing!">please make it stop snowing!<\/a> <img src="/images/snow3aa.gif" width="11" height="11" border="0" alt="*"></div> '); I would search for a similar occurrence but have no clue about what search words to use. Does anyone here have an idea about what I have done incorrectly that is causing this to happen? Many thanks. E Morris Toronto, Canada I've got a client using JQuery pageslide function on a wordpress site - http://srobbin.com/blog/jquery-pageslide/ There is a sidebar menu on the left and about 5 pages in the right hand side. So you click one of the links on the sidebar menu and it slides to one of the 5 corresponding pages. I guess the 5 pages are all really one page though within the slider app? I'm wondering if it's possible to link directly to a page within the slider... because right now it always goes to the first page of the 5. And is there a way to program it so the back button in the browser makes the page slide go back to the previous page, rather than going to the last actual page in the browser? Hi everyone, I was wondering if jQuery or mootools has a set of scripts that creates a page slide effect with a stationary menu? What I mean is instead of loading a page when you click a link, all pages of the website are loaded at first, and then when a link is clicked, the corresponding page slides onto the screen. The navigation menu remains unchanged (except for dropdown menus) throughout everything. This is a perfect example of what I'm looking for: www.mimeartist.com Can anyone point me to the right direction? I tried to search for this but didn't come up with too many great results, and I searched the jQuery documentation and wasn't able to find a slider feature. Thanks. I am using the following code from this site... http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...selector.shtml but for some reason if the page is long the whole page scrolls up so the top of the calendar is at the top of the browser, which actually hides the box that the date will end up in. can anyone see how I can alter the code so that the page does not scroll up, but have the calendar show just below the box that the date will go in and the page does not scroll? here is the full code that I am using to test this out with. I'm trying to get a mootools plugin to work with a slide in/slide out javascript using multiple divs. Here's the page: http://pawsdogs.com/test/Site/work2.htm The mootools code (Noobslide) slides a main image on the right when you click thumbnails on the left, which are wrapped in a thumb mask using CSS. The first row of thumbnails works perfectly, but when it's passed on to the next div the mask isn't passed on and the effect breaks down. Thanks so much if anyone can help! Here's the html: Code: <li><a href="#" id="slidecontrol_2" class="slidecontrol">Click Here</a> <div id="slidedisplay_2" style="display:none;"> <div id="thumbs7"> <div class="thumbs"> <div><img src="images2/img4.jpg" alt="Photo Thumb" /></div> <div><img src="images2/img5.jpg" alt="Photo Thumb" /></div> <div><img src="images2/img6.jpg" alt="Photo Thumb" /></div> </div> <div id="thumbs_mask7"></div> <p id="thumbs_handles7"> <span></span> <span></span> <span></span> </p> </div> </div></li> <li><a href="#" id="slidecontrol_3" class="slidecontrol">asdf</a> <div id="slidedisplay_3" style="display:none;"> <div id="thumbs7"> <div class="thumbs"> <div><img src="images2/img2.jpg" alt="Photo Thumb" /></div> <div><img src="images2/img3.jpg" alt="Photo Thumb" /></div> </div> <div id="thumbs_mask7"></div> <p id="thumbs_handles7"> <span></span> <span></span> </p> </div> </div> The javascript: Code: $(document).ready(function () { $('a.slidecontrol').click(function(){ var $this = $(this); var divID = $this.attr("id").replace("slidecontrol_", "slidedisplay_"); var $div = $('#'+divID); if ($div.is(':visible')) { $div.slideUp(500); } else { $div.slideDown(500); } return false; }); }); The CSS: Code: #thumbs7{ position:relative; width:200px; clear:both; height:41px; overflow:hidden; } #thumbs7 .thumbs, #thumbs_handles7, #thumbs_mask7{ position:absolute; top:0; width:100%; height:41px; } #thumbs7 .thumbs div, #thumbs_handles7 span{ display:block; width:60px; height:41px; margin:0; float:left; cursor:pointer; } #thumbs7 .thumbs div img{ width:54px; float:right; } #thumbs_handles7 span{ background:url(../images2/thumb_invisible.gif) no-repeat; } #thumbs_mask7{ width:1200px; background:url(../images2/thumbs_mask.gif) no-repeat center top; } Hi, I have a page here http://95.131.66.39/~pestcont/autosearch/form_new.html As you will see in the product model number once you start typing the page looks up the info from the database. The problem was the page was very long so i have taken the javascript and placed it in a seperate file, however now the auto look up doesn't work and i can not work out why. The second page is he http://95.131.66.39/~pestcont/autosearch/new_form.html Any help would be appreciated. thanks Hi .. I should start off saying I dont know the first thing about java script programming. I have 3 scripts on one of my pages, the first script is for a slide animation, the second is a hover intent script and the third is a headline animation script. I know if I comment out the hover intent script, the first and third script work. So my question is how to get the hover intent script to work correctly and behave with the other 2 scripts on the page. I read your post on "on body load" or "runscripts" calls with 2 scripts but I could not find such calls in these 3 javascripts. The hover intent script does not do what I want it to do on any of the pages that I have installed it on. When you first load the page the menu items are sitting above the slideshow and when you hover your mouse over the navigation from left to right they sort of jump and its not until you get to the contact image at the end that the slideshow moves into the correct position and then if you go back and hover over the home image the slideshow jumps up and down. The three script page is http://www.kimberleywebdesign.com.au/test/reviews.html Thanks in advance for your valuable time. I have a tab that scrolls through images in a frame through javascript. It works in one page, but not the other. I'm trying to get the page not working to work, obviously. I also have checked and temporarily fixed validation errors, and that doesn't help. Working page: www.happydogwebproductions.com Same images in different page: http://www.happydogwebproductions.co...--css-websites I've been trying the "BDirect lists" on both pages. Java: "new SimpleSlide". Just when I think I am close, I can't get it to work. Going mental. Thanks for any help When i click on an image, it just opens in a new tab, lightbox doesn't work?! Thank you, Mitka Hey guys, On my personal website, I just created a rollover image gallery using Javascript. Each time you roll over a thumbnail, the image above changes to the corresponding thumbnail image. http://www.thelittlelizzard.com/Bahamas.html After spending hours getting that to work properly, my footer is now showing as one huge blue link. I believe I'm forgetting to close a tag somewhere? Being new to Javascript, I don't have a clue what I am forgetting to close to cause my footer to become a huge blue link like that. Does anyone have any ideas? Here is a copy of the code of my body section where I believe the problem may be... Code: <p>Where we stayed: <a href="http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3067" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">Radisson Cable Beach Resort</a> (Now called Sheraton Nassau Cable Beach): </p> <p>Dates we travelled: March 2004, 2005 and 2006</p> <p>Flight Time from New York: 2.5 hours</p> <br /><br /> <div id="divcenter"> <p><img align="center" border="0" src="Bahamas/bahamas.jpg" style="border-right: 1 solid #006666" name="altimg" width="548" height="316" /> </p> <p> <a onmouseover="on('image1');" onmouseout="off('image1')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image2');" onmouseout="off('image2')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-1.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image3');" onmouseout="off('image3')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-2.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image4');" onmouseout="off('image4')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-3.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image5');" onmouseout="off('image5')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-4.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image6');" onmouseout="off('image6')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-5.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image7');" onmouseout="off('image7')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-6.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image8');" onmouseout="off('image8')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-7.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image9');" onmouseout="off('image9')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-8.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image10');" onmouseout="off('image10')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-9.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image11');" onmouseout="off('image11')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-10.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image12');" onmouseout="off('image12')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-11.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image13');" onmouseout="off('image13')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-12.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image14');" onmouseout="off('image14')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-13.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image15');" onmouseout="off('image15')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-14.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image16');" onmouseout="off('image16')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-15.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image17');" onmouseout="off('image17')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-16.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image18');" onmouseout="off('image18')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-17.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image19');" onmouseout="off('image19')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-18.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image20');" onmouseout="off('image20')"> <img src="Bahamas/bahamas-19.jpg" width="45" height="45"></a> <a onmouseover="on('image21');" onmouseout="off('image21')"> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> <p>© 2009 TheLittleLizzard.com<br> All images and content on this website are owned by The Little Lizzard.</br> </p> <p>All rights reserved. </p> <p><a href="http://www.TheLittleLizzard.com">Home</a> <a href="http://www.ScreamingLizzardProductions.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">Site Design</a></p> </div> </div> </body> Thanks again for any help. This is one of the only places I get real answers that solve my problems! Hi All I have page peel on my site www.lightuplondon.com which works in firefox but not in internet explorer, but can't work out why? If any one can help me with this it would be much appreciated. Thanks Stewart I am trying to use these two js codes in one page: http://acrisdesign.com/2010/03/jquer...on-hoverclick/ http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/ They both work perfectly fine except when both linked up at the same time. Only the last one will work. I've tried to find how the codes are working when the page loads in order to fix that problem but I cant figure it out for these two specific codes. Thanks. Hi all, I have a script that checks and unchecks all boxes depending on the current state of the box. I have used it on one page and it works perfectly fine... copied it over to a new page where I wanted to reuse and can't get it to work. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function check_all(form, input_name, self){ if(!input_name){ return; } var input = form.getElementsByTagName('input'); for(var i = 0; i < input.length; i++){ if(input[i].name.indexOf(input_name)!=-1){ input[i].checked = self.checked; } } } </script> Code: <input type="checkbox" name="notimportant" onclick="check_all(document.form1, 'check', this)" value="test" /><b>All</b> Code: <input type="checkbox" name="check_list[]" value="<?php echo $row2['email'];?>"> Code: <form name="form1" action="emailspecificcandidates.php" method="post"> As I say this script works perfectly on another page, and as far as i can see i have copied everything over correctly. Can anyone spot anything wrong? Many thanks, Greens85 EDIT: I think this may be broken because of the way I presenting it with php on my page... i copied a seperate entity of the script onto the page and it worked first time. Hello guys! :-) So, this is my first post so bare with me I'm currently under education as a webdesigner/developer, and for my exams i need this slide-in function, of a <div> i made. It has to be javascript, and as simple as possible :-) I've found alot of working scripts, but with all sorts of useless junk I can't have in my final result. So: Does any of you know a simple method of making an object slide-in from the side on MO, and slide back out when mouse is removed? Ty in advance! :-) |
