JavaScript - Holding A List Item
Hi, I have a list setup with links. The list scrolls with the css setting of overflow:auto.
However, when a link in the list that is scrolled down to (that is hidden unless scrolled down to) is clicked, I'd like to hold the list at that list item so that the viewer can return to the same line in the list and click the next li. Right now, the list resets to the top after a li link is clicked... I have a feeling this is something simple, but I'm guessing it would be javascript...?? The site to view - click here and then see the left side scrolling list. Thanks!! Similar TutorialsI'm trying to delete a item in a list. I'm getting a method not allowed error in IE8. Code: var selectOptions = document.getElementById('id_employees_cbo'); for (var i=0; i<selectOptions.options.length; i++) { if (selectOptions.options[i].selected == true) { selectOptions.options[i].remove(); break; } } Is there another way to do this? Thanks This is the code that I have:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option("A List Item", "listitem1"); ListItem[1].style.display = "none"; The first line creates a new entry in the list, I am wanting the second line to remove the same item but it doesn't work. I have tried this:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option(""); But that leaves a blank line entry in the list Cheers Daniel. This is the code that I have, on selecting the first item in the first list it populates the second list with users. What I need to do is create a "value" for each of the items in the second list. The first item is called "All Products", so instead of actually selecting every product in the starting list and moving them to the destination list, I would like the code to see that if the "All Products" list item is moved to the destination list, move all the other list items in the destination list back to the starting list. Here's an example of what the code for each list box looks like: Starting List Box: Code: <select name="lstAvailProd" id="lstAvailProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> <option value="-1">{All Products}</option> <option value="1">Product 1</option> <option value="2">Product 2</option> <option value="3">Product 3</option> <option value="4">Product 4</option> <option value="5">Product 5</option> </select> Destination List Box: Code: <select name="lstSelectProd" id="lstSelectProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> </select> Any help would be appreciated, thanks!! Hi Peers, i have a Drop down list with 10 choices (skillset). users must choose one skillset and the corresponding level (beginer/intermediate/master). ( they have to do this 10 times for all the sillsets) what i want is : 1 - i need to show up only one record (dropdowanlist) with level then have a button to add new skill and level if required 2- then when they choose the 1st skill from the dropdown , this one will not show up on the 2nd choice dropdown. is it possible any help ? thanks guys Hello again, I seem to be having trouble with my string variable in innerHTML.. here's my code: Code: function header() { // Navigation Bar 110 var o = document.getElementById("header"); 111 var s = '<h3 style="float:left;">' 112 + ' ' 113 + '<a href="http://mattondo.com" class="link">MattOndo.Com</a></h3>' 114 + '<div style="float:right;">' 115 + '<div class="navbar">' 116 + '<a href="index.htm" class="nav" id="home">home</a>' //to homepage 117 + '<a href="about.htm" class="nav" id="about">about</a>' // to about page 118 + '<a href="construction.htm" class="nav" id="blog">blog</a>' // to blog page 119 + '<a href="contact.htm" class="nav" id="contact">contact</a>' // to contact page 120 + '</div>' 121 + '</div>'; 122 o.innerHTML = s; every time I run this using firebug, it says I have one error. That on line 122 variable o is null. And when I go through the code using firebug line by line, it gets to thevar o = document.getElementById("header"); and stores nothing in o, making it null. What could be my issue here?? I'm currently trying to hide my navigation button when it hides the end of the list, right now I currently have: Previous / Next (they are about the same anyways) Code: function previousEvent(i) { var k = new Number(i); if (index == 0) { $('#previous').hide(); } else { $('#next').show(); index = index - 1; eventSelected(rawDates[index], rawTime[index]); } } And in my html...the div properties: Code: <div style="text-align:right;"> <div id="next" style="float:right;"><a onclick="javascript:nextEvent();"> <input type="image" name="next" src="images/SiteCollectionImages/MiniEvents/btn_Next.gif" alt="Next Event" title="Next Event"/></a> </div> <div id="previous" style="float:right; padding-right:2px;"><a onclick="javascript:previousEvent();"> <input type="image" name="previous" src="images/SiteCollectionImages/MiniEvents/btn_Previous.gif" alt="Previous Event" title="Previous Event"/></a> </div> edit: Sorry forgot to explain, I'm trying to make it so when they click on next, and keep clicking until the end of the dataset, it will hold the previous button where it usually is. Instead right now it moves it over to where the "Next" button is. I figured there has to be a way to hide the button, but yet hold the position still. Thanks in advance! Matt hi everyone, firstly to call myself a noob would be inflating my ego. I have done one project in javascript so far and have had no schooling on the topic, however I have learned quite a lot in the last few months from this thing called the 'internet'. So far I managed to make an html image map that has various tooltips which will appear onmouseover, and the tooltip disappears onmouseout. Each point of coords that i have defined has a hyperlink to a different page on the internet. It works just like i wanted it to and i couldn't be happier, that is, when i'm using a mouse... When i am using a touchscreen device it is a different story. specifically i'm trying to port my html page to android as i figured it would be easy with the android sdk and webview (it was, but read on). What i found when i used the 'app' on my phone was that onmouseover works when you touch the screen, however it also registers as a click, so pop goes the tooltip, and i'm whisked away to my webpage. not the desired result. Ideally I would like to hold down the screen for 3 seconds and then the hyperlink would activate, but i decided that just getting the thing functional would suffice for the time beaing so i tried to include some 'ondblclick' that would trigger a document.location. This worked fine on a web browser again, but had no result on the touchscreen. I decided to abandon this half step because I have read that ondblclick doesn't work in an image map and it isn't my intended result anyway. I have found a lot of javascript and jquery samples that emulate the onHold event that i'm trying to achieve, both on this forum and all over the internet, however these samples are overly complex and are focused on looping an action, such as incrementally increasing a value or zooming or whatever. I just want to redirect the user to another page if they trigger 'onmousedown' for 3 seconds. anybody want to trade some help for a thankyou? Hi, I am doing a Validation for Form "Text input". If the user leaves the input empty, a function is starting to run. If the field is bigger than 1 - so it doesn't get into the function. The problem is: The first time, the user left the input empty, function ran, and I got the alert - that's OK. Second time, The user added 10 in the AGE input - And again he gets the Alert - But he should not. Note: Age input value, returns from a different function (calc) to a var called: result. this is the code: Code: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#btn_send').click(function(){ //var result gets the value from another function of input "Age" value. -> return thisform.Age.value var result = calc(document.getElementById("campaignform")); if (result<1) { $("#campaignform").submit(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); alert ("prevent default"); }); } else{ return true; }; }); }); so if you try the second time to click on Submit, then you get into $('#btn_send').click(function() and eventhough you added for example 67 in the AGE (return as result) input, you get into the IF statement which is: if (result<1) I'm pretty new to developing, so I hop you will understand me. Sorry if I have mistakes. Can you advice what could be a better TITLE for this question? thanks in advance, Shai Hi all, I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County). I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database. This piece of code is working well . . . . Code: <?php $link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database'); if(isset($_GET["County"]) && is_numeric($_GET["County"])) { $County = $_GET["County"]; } if(isset($_GET["Region"]) && is_numeric($_GET["Region"])) { $Region = $_GET["Region"]; } ?> <script language="JavaScript"> function autoSubmit() { var formObject = document.forms['theForm']; formObject.submit(); } </script> <form name="theForm" method="get"> <!-- County SELECTION BASED ON city VALUE --> <?php ?> <select name="County" onChange="autoSubmit();"> <option value=''</option> <?php //POPULATE DROP DOWN MENU WITH COUNTRIES FROM A GIVEN city $sql = "SELECT * FROM county_regions"; $counties = mysql_query($sql,$link); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($counties)) { echo ("<option value=\"$row[CountyID]\" " . Thanks in advance for your help. I would like to make an ordered list, for example: 1. Airplane 2. Boat 3. Car I'd like one of the words to be displayed on my webpage, for example: Boat Then I'd want an up button, and a down button. The up button would display Airplane instead of Boat, and the down button would display Car instead of Boat. Once it got to Car, the same up button would change it back to boat. How do I do this? Thanks. 09-01-10 Not sure exactly where to post this thread as it involves HTML, Javascript and embedded media players. It probably would be more appropriate here as there is much Javascript involved.... Hello, I am trying to construct a Jukebox for my website. I have spent considerable time all over the WEB and at this forum which addressed the issue in a 50 page thread. Please see: http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=50666 I got a lot of ideas from this thread but still cannot figure a way to do the following within the Jukebox. These are my main two questions for everything below: 1. How can I have the Jukebox cycle through all tunes and then start over from the beginning? 2. How can I allow the user to select a tune from a list but not a drop down list, have the Jukebox start from the user’s selection and then play all songs to the end. Then as in #1, start over from the beginning? Per this thread I came away with basically two ways to assemble the jukebox. One uses links in a drop down list which the user can choose from. The other is to use an .m3u playlist. The user can only select a “playlist” from the drop down. Below, I have included the code for each Jukebox. To see the Jukeboxes in action please go to my website where I have posted some test pages exhibiting the jukeboxes that I am referring to. The following is the Jukebox which utilizes an .m3u playlist. If I end up using this idea I would like the tunes in the .m3u playlist to be displayed and allow the user to be able to choose a tune in the list. Then have the list play to the end of all tunes in the list. Then start over from the beginning of the list. After this code is the .m3u playlist. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using an .M3U Playlist” Jukebox utilizing an .m3u playlist: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> <br> <br> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="JukeboxList.m3u">Jukebox List</option> </select><br> </html> Here is the .m3u playlist for the above code: Code: #EXTM3U #EXTINF:Bill Evans - G Waltz media/G Waltz.mp3 #EXTINF:Dan Pincus - In Your Time media/In Your Time.mp3 The following code is for the Jukebox that has a list of links in a dropdown list. If I go with this idea, I would like for the list not to be a dropdown list but just a list of tunes. The issue I am having is that I want the hover image (red part) to be displayed only when hovering the root li, and not all subsequent li items in the menu.. because as you may see now, even when hovering the li in the submenu the red gets displayed. The code I am using is the following Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#smoothmenu1 li').append('<div class="hover"></div>'); $('#smoothmenu1 li').hover( function() { $(this).children('div').fadeIn('500'); }, function() { $(this).children('div').fadeOut('500'); }).click (function () { $(this).addClass('selected'); }); }); </script> and Code: <div id="smoothmenu1" class="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">2.1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">2.1.1</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">2.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">2.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 3</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">3.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">3.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">3.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 4</a></li> </ul> </div> Is there a way to specify in the javascript functionality where to append the div to only the root li item? Thanks This function is part of a page that will delete a product that a customer has selected. The question I have is what is the line line that actually removes the item from the list of products chosen? From my understanding, in order to establish an array, new array = elements[i] has to be added but Im thinking that elements[i] is the array that holds the product. Does the "0" in this line actually delete the item? document.template.elements[i].value = 0 ; Code: function del_item(X,msg) { // var msg = "Are you sure you want to delete this line item?" resp = confirm("Are you sure you want to " + msg + "?") ; if (resp) { var len = document.template.elements.length //loop to put into arrays for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) { var lname = document.template.elements[i].name ; if(lname == X) { document.template.elements[i].value = 0 ; process_order(0) ; document.template.loginpath.value = "CO" ; document.template.submit() ; } } } else { return ; } } Hello everyone. This a css code in <head>: Code: .pagination{ width: 530px; /*Width of pagination DIV. Total width should equal slider's outer width (400+10+10=420)*/ text-align: right; background-color: white; padding: 5px 10px; } .pagination a{ padding: 0px 5px; text-decoration: none; color: #410B38; font-weight:bold; font-family:Arial; background: white; } .pagination a:hover, .pagination a.selected{ color: white; text-decoration: none; font-weight:bold; font-family:Arial; background-color: #410B38; } for a div with class=pagination (below) which contains the pagination of mysql data display: Code: <div class="pagination"> <?php $sql = "SELECT COUNT(id) FROM tablename"; $rs_result = mysql_query($sql,$mysql_connection); $row = mysql_fetch_row($rs_result); $total_records = $row[0]; $total_pages = ceil($total_records / 5); for ($i=1; $i<=$total_pages; $i++) { echo "<a href='mysqldatadisplay.php?page=".$i."'>".$i."</a>"; }; ?> </div> I want everytime someone clicks on another number in order to change page, that clicked number to have different style than the other numbers as long as one stays on that page and when one clicks on a different number I want that number to behave in the same way. Someting like highlighting the navigational item that you're on. Thank you very much in advance! i have tried searching the forums for help but really am getting no where. i am trying to call an array item from an input box. the input is all numbers. the arrays are v + numbers. i cannot seem to figure out how to get the item from the array. eg Code: var v00501 = ["HOLTSVILLE,I R S SERVICE CENTER","NY","631","-5","Y"] var v00544 = ["HOLTSVILLE,IRS SERVICE CENTER","NY","631","-5","Y"] var v00601 = ["ADJUNTAS,JARD DE ADJUNTAS,URB SAN JOAQUIN","PR","787/939","-4","N"] function pop() { var zipv = "v" + myform.Zip.value +"[0]"; alert(zipv); } or Code: function pop() { alert(pop1()); } function pop1() { return "v" + myform.Zip.value +"[0]"; } so for this if the user typed in 00501 i get v00501[0] no matter what i try. i want HOLTSVILLE,I R S SERVICE CENTER to be returned or whatever item i am calling for. this all has to be on client side as i dont have server access so the zip codes are all set up as arrays in a seperate file. i really dont know alot about javascript but i am learning. any help on how i can accomplish this would be appreciated. Hi Guys, i have two different arrays with the same number of element. The 1st array holds the ID's and the 2nd one holds the Items.. i want to use both of them in a Jquery autocomplete plugin.. showing the the 2nd one values but getting the value of the 1st arr. I was wondering if there is a way to combine both in one in Javascript like Arr3 =[arr1, arr2] where i display arr2 elemnt and pass arr1 elements? thanks |
