JavaScript - Javascript Auto-adjust - Question, No Code Involved
Hey I was wondering, I have a box with tabs at the bottom. As you click the tabs, different stories appear in the box. However, I have the box in a fixed length. So if stories are longer, then they disappear beneath the visible line of the box. When I had it auto-adjusting though, the box would change based on the story I was clicking on. It gets weird.
Is there a way to have the box auto-adjust based on the largest amount of text and have it stay that height regardless on what story you pick? I hope this makes sense. Thanks! KZ Similar TutorialsHi people, I'm new to this and I was wondering how to adjust the iframe height by itself if my html height increases. My html code includes a facebook comment at the bottom of my page and the comment will show making it expand the height once users post comments. On the other hand, I'm using a CMS that have its own iframe. I've tried many solutions that can be found on the web but none works. It only can work if I don't put in CMS. Is it possible to adjust the iframe height using CMS or there is no way? I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks alot. Hello, I'd like to make an iframe that will automatically get the height of the webpage it is on (not the source url) - I'm not talking the browser viewport but the entire document - so basically the height in pixels minus a certain value to prevent the iframe from sliding out - example: Code: <iframe src="http://google.com/" height="CURRENT DOCUMENT'S HEIGHT MINUS 50" width="FIXED"></iframe> Maybe it is better to achieve this function in php - or any other way? And perhaps there is some better way than an iframe - like a container of some sort that can automatically expand to the webpage's length... Thanks in advance! I'm wondering if anyone out there has a jquery solution to using an iframe that automatically adjusts it's height of the child and also works cross domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello! Please take a look at my site: Test Flyout Lists As I hover over Item 15, I want it to be like, "Okay, this list I'm about to display is going to be too long, so let's disregard the 'top: 10px' line in the CSS and instead have the submenu sit with its last item right at the bottom aligned with the bottom of the gradient." That way, we know for sure that the submenu will not reach past the height of the body, and the last item will be visible. The bottom of the last item's cell should "hug" the bottom of the page/gradient. Can I do this in JavaScript? I'm looking to do the following in javascript. Either on image_load OR on mouseover of an image, I would like to transition the exposure (or gamma, or brightness) of the image from over-exposed, down to the regular image. If that doesn't make sense, please see an example at: http://www.entheosweb.com/Flash/Phot...20/default.asp The coding for the example in Flash (Actionscript 3.0) is as follows: Code: function changeColor() { var colorComponent = 400; onEnterFrame = function () { myColor = new Color(big_mc_image); myColTr = new Object(); colorComponent = colorComponent + (100 - colorComponent) / 6; myColTr = {ra: colorComponent, ga: colorComponent, ba: colorComponent}; myColor.setTransform(myColTr); big_mc_image._visible = true; if (Math.round(colorComponent) == 100) { delete this.onEnterFrame; colorComponent = 400; } } ; } But as you can see, they use a built-in "TRANSFORM" function. In JAVASCRIPT, is it possible to affect the brightness/exposure of an image??? I know that alpha/opacity can be manipulated and would love to have this effect in my html/javascript code. I've attached the following code (simple fade in/fade out of an image). But would basically like to replace "OPACITY" with "EXPOSURE". Code: function fade(eid) { var element = document.getElementById(eid); if(element == null) return; if(element.FadeState == null) { if(element.style.opacity == null || element.style.opacity == '' || element.style.opacity == '1') { element.FadeState = 2; } else { element.FadeState = -2; } } if(element.FadeState == 1 || element.FadeState == -1) { element.FadeState = element.FadeState == 1 ? -1 : 1; element.FadeTimeLeft = TimeToFade - element.FadeTimeLeft; } else { element.FadeState = element.FadeState == 2 ? -1 : 1; element.FadeTimeLeft = TimeToFade; setTimeout("animateFade(" + new Date().getTime() + ",'" + eid + "')", 33); } } I haven't come across any .js files that I can download. Know of any? Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. Hi every one Following is the situation I want a solution for, -I have a form whose contents are forwarded to a mailer program hosted on a server which sends out emails. So basically the form data is submitted to one Mailer page (I have no control over the mailer program). -After the form has been submitted the mailer program redirects to a default page or the "return " page specified by me..again redirects no matter what I have no control over it... -Now instead of being redirected to a page I want the form contents to be submitted to another php page which will appear after the form has been submitted to the mailer page and display the contents of the form originally submitted. Basically I want to submit to 2 different pages I know thats possible but I do not know how to get around the redirection from mailer page. I thought of having the second php page to be the redirect page with all form data sent in query string however data fields are too many to send over get. Is there anyway around this in javascript? Its very complex to explain..I hope some one can help I hope following crude visualisation helps currently submit form to------------->Mailer page (It redirects to any page specified) form to | | |------->Page2.php (Want this to appear after form has been submitted to mailer page but mailer page redirects..) Regards, Aditya Hi, I have a body onload doing multiple things, changing a select option value, changing the form submit action and then auto submitting. Everything works fine until the auto submit part of it. Code: function run() { document.myform.myselect.selectedIndex = 1; document.myform.action = 'page.php?x=1&y=2'; document.myform.submit(); } <body onload="run()"> Thanks for any help with this Hi all, I am newbie to JS. Thanks in advance Hi, i need a javascript for my website. what i wanna do is that when smone loads my website, the script initiate the left mouse click automatically. that is on page load mouse click is stimulated. dnt know if its possible or not. need help. Thanx in advance Hi, I have the below code (in a smarty .tpl file), but would like to automate it with data from MySQL DB and PHP So for example if I was to add another gift_id radio box etc.. in MySQL it would add on to the end extending the if statement to make sure a radio box has been picked. if ((form.gift_id[0].checked == false) && (form.gift_id[1].checked == false) && (form.gift_id[2].checked == false)) { ErrorCount++; But the problem is I am not sure how to do this, any ideas? Thanks. ps. sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where to put it Hey guys. I need a Javascript that clicks on particular co-ordinates on page load. I'll even make do with a script that clicks on a random co-ordinate on page load. Just a simple click has to be made automatically on page load on the page. I tried using and editing this code: Code: <html> <head> <script> window.onload = function(){ document.getElementById("autoid").click(); } </script> </head> <body> <a href="http://google.com" id="autoid">Search Engine</a> </body> </html> but its of no use because I want it to click on another javascript, thats another Code: <script type="text/javascript"> [Script data goes here that takes about 700 x 700 pixels on the screen] </script> I want a click to be made on this script somehow. I can add Code: window.setTimeout('clickit()',5000); function clickit(){ location.href = document.getElementById("autoid"); myself which will delay it so the click occurs after page load but I just want a click to happen on top of that javascript. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers! hey all- i have been thinking about how i wanted to tackle this for a while now, and it is now "down to the wire"... so in my page i have two nav bars, one for js enabled and one for js disabled... they are styled accordingly (the js disabled is display:inherit; and the js enabled is display:none now i may need to tweak those styles after i get the script working, but that i can toy with after i get this working... anyways- my pages get the navbar inherited from a master page- so my thought was (to prevent loops) make a nav bar that had all js disabled links and a navbar that had all js enabled... then in my code i put in this script Code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById("Nav_Menu_JS_Content").style.display = "inherit"; document.getElementById("Nav_Menu_Content").style.display = "none"; </script> now i am not amazing with js but i figured this would work... i get an error thrown every time though Quote: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Unable to get value of the property 'style': object is null or undefined now i assume (i am watching in debug) that this is because it is hitting the script before the rest of the page writes... but if i move the script below then the script never fires... ? here are the two nav bar ID's Note: i encapsulated the menus in <div>s and targeted the divs to ensure that there were no conflictions with my asp Code: <div id="Nav_Bar_Menu_Content" class="Nav_Menu"> ......... <div id="Nav_Menu_JS_Content" class="Nav_Menu_JS"> My html form code is <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="2.js"></script> </head> <body> <h1 id="remain"></h1> <form action="3.php" method="post" id="form1" name="form1"> <input type="text" name="id"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> </form> </body> </html> I need to submit the form after coundown. Here is my countdown script file window.onload=counter; function counter() { var seconds = 5; countDown(); function countDown() { document.getElementById("remain").innerHTML=seconds; if(seconds>0) { seconds=seconds - 1; setTimeout(countDown,1000); } if(seconds == 0) { document.form1.submit(); } } } Countdown is working but form does not submit after countdown. Please help me regarding this. Thanks in advance Hi All I have this basic auto complete JavaScript that works well, but you need to hard code the web page. Thanks in advance for any help!!! =) Hi, I'm pretty new in Javascript. I searched alot but didn't find any answer to my problem I have. What I want to do: - I have a cell A1 - I want the script to make a new cell B1 - After that I want the script to make a new cell C1 - After that I want the script to make a new cell D1 - After that I wa .... etc .... till I got 20 cells in total. This has to go automatic so not by use of a client sided button. I also need every cell to get his own IDnumber like A1 ID=1, B1 ID=2, C1 ID=3, etc to communicate with database and mysql. But maybe I have to use php for that. Thanx for any help! Best regards, Thoaren I am using this script to automatically set the current date on a form... However, when I post the form, it is actually putting the Day +1 into the database (the year and month are correct). So for example if I set the date to June 8, 2011 on the form, it will post into the db as 2011-06-09. I am not sure whats going on... Also, if the form has a missing input field (and the form reloads), the date resets back to the current date, instead of retaining the php-printed date values. In the head, I have: Code: <script> var monthtext=['January','February','March','April','May','June','July','August','September','October','November','December']; function populatedropdown(dayfield, monthfield, yearfield){ var today=new Date() var dayfield=document.getElementById(dayfield) var monthfield=document.getElementById(monthfield) var yearfield=document.getElementById(yearfield) for (var d=1; d<32; d++) dayfield.options[d]=new Option(d, d+1) dayfield.options[today.getDate()]=new Option(today.getDate(), today.getDate(), true, true) //select today's day for (var m=0; m<12; m++) monthfield.options[m]=new Option(monthtext[m], monthtext[m]) monthfield.options[today.getMonth()]=new Option(monthtext[today.getMonth()], monthtext[today.getMonth()], true, true) //select today's month var thisyear=today.getFullYear() for (var y=0; y<4; y++){ yearfield.options[y]=new Option(thisyear, thisyear) thisyear-=1 } yearfield.options[0]=new Option(today.getFullYear(), today.getFullYear(), true, true) //select today's year } </script> In the form I have: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> //populatedropdown(id_of_day_select, id_of_month_select, id_of_year_select) window.onload=function(){ populatedropdown("daydropdown", "monthdropdown", "yeardropdown") } </script> <tr> <td> <select name="Month" id="monthdropdown"> <option value="<?php print "$Month"; ?>"><?php print "$Month"; ?></option> </select> <select name="Day" id="daydropdown"> <option value="<?php print "$Day"; ?>"><?php print "$Day"; ?></option> </select> <select name="Year" id="yeardropdown"> <option value="<?php print "$Year"; ?>"><?php print "$Year"; ?></option> </select> </td> </tr> Hello. I open a new forum thread as adviced by jmrker. Old forum thread related to this topic: http://www.codingforums.com/showthre...8#post12243889 Here is my code, based on the latest Philip M's work : Code: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> var cday; var timeInSecs; var ticker; function getSeconds() { var now = new Date(); var nowtime= now.getTime(); // time now in milliseconds var countdowntime = new Date(now.getFullYear(),now.getMonth(),now.getDate(),20,0,0); // 16 hrs = 4 pm // countdowntime - change time hh,mm,ss to whatever time required, e.g. 7,50,0 (0750) var dy = 5 ; // Friday (day 5) - change for other days 0-6 var atime = countdowntime.getTime(); var diff = parseInt((atime - nowtime)/1000); // positive if date is in future if (diff >0) { cday = dy - now.getDay(); } else { cday = dy - now.getDay() -1; } if (cday < 0) { cday += 7; } // aleady passed countdown time, so go for next week if (diff <= 0) { diff += (86400 * 7) } startTimer (diff); } function startTimer(secs) { timeInSecs = parseInt(secs); ticker = setInterval("tick()",1000); tick(); // to start counter display right away } function tick() { var secs = timeInSecs; if (secs>0) { timeInSecs--; } else { clearInterval(ticker); // stop counting at zero getSeconds(); // and start all over again! } var days = Math.floor(secs/86400); secs %= 86400; var hours= Math.floor(secs/3600); secs %= 3600; var mins = Math.floor(secs/60); secs %= 60; var result = days +':'; result += ((hours < 10 ) ? To see if this script works in all conditions, I change my system date and time (to see if the script displays the good remaining duration). TESTS: Friday - So I set my system date on friday but at different times. When I do that, everything seems to work fine. - If I chose an earlier time (11am for example), it's fine too. - If I chose 7:59:45 pm (and wait a few seconds) I can see the countdown resetting and displaying 6 days 23 hours 59 min 59 sec. So it's fine too. Saturday - But if I chose saturday 00:00:01 am it doesn't work. It displays 0:19:59:59 (as if the event occured the same day, saturday). - And if I chose saturday 7:59:45 pm, the counter resets and displays 6 days 23 hours 59 min 59 sec.. Which is also wrong because it would mean that the even occurs on saturdays 8pm. Sunday - Same for sunday (the same errors like saturdays) Btw, could it be possible to display on the HTML page, all variable values ? This could help me understand how the script is done. (I am a poor coder). Thank you very much. Hi all, I use a javascript to generate a checkbox list. It works well but all the <input type="checkbox"> generated have the same id. I would like to find a way to auto-implement the id (with a unique id). So if my javascript generates 10 checkboxes, I will get id from 1 to 10 or something similar.
