JavaScript - Can I Use Js To Re-size Browser Window?

I have dealt with window open before and i know how to adjust the size of the window in the parameters assigned but i have never dealt with window.opener before and have had several failed attempts and adjusting the window size here..

any help would be appreciated..


there is some inline css that i can change the background and stuff but i tried using height and width in the css to no avail, so i thought i would ask do i need to assign a new var inside the script ? how do i change the size. ?

it needs to be 300x300 thanks

Im coding an internet browser and when I put it in full screen the web browser part is staying the same size as it was on small screen.


How do I make it so when its on small screen it is the size of the window but when its on big screen its the size of the whole screen?

I hope someone can help me with this or point towards a published code.

I have a PHP page which displays a list summarising database records. When users click on an icon, another window pops up with further information from the record. They can keep clicking through the list, showing each new record in the SAME popup window.

Obviously when the popup first appears, the window must be sized to fit within the user's screen and also to one side so that people can still see the main list. But if they resize the window (maybe because they have a very large screen), I want each new display of the window to retain the user's new size.

To summarise, the first time the window opens, its dimensions are set to a default size (based on screen size), but from then on it retains the user-defined size.

Hi. Sort of new to Javascript.

I am implementing a zoom in feature, but actually tricking the user as a full screen image is simply being stretched.

I plan to apply it to several pages, and don't really fancy working out the pixels for each.

I believe that if you simply put width: 150% height 150% it will change the image size relative to the browser. I don't want that, I want it relative to the original image size. Could I do sort of height*1.5 or something? How would I write that if so? Thanks!

i have been trying all sorts of things, but falling short... i'm trying to set up a way to detect a user's browser size and then call a specific background image accordingly...

say (for example) that BKGD1.jpg is for users who have browsers that are 1280x1024 and higher; BKGD2.jpg is for users who have browsers that are smaller than 1280x1024...

i'm even open to an option that only displays a background image if the browser is (as in the example above) 1280x1024, and just a background color if the browser is smaller than that...

i don't know... i am totally lost on this one... any help would be amazing!!! thank you...

I'm still struggling for a solution here. I have a background image that auto-resizes based on browser window / screen resolution. I want my top header menu, which requires links, to act in the same way and be in roughly the same position/size based on browser window. Is this possible? In the sample below, the image is just part of the background image to give you an idea of the look I am trying to duplicate.

Is there a Javascript out there that will help me or will I be stuck having to rework my design?

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to prevent the browser window from scrolling when you are scrolling inside an overflow auto div and reach the end of the div's scroll? Right now I have a few people complaining about a div that loads scrolling info on the screen and when they scroll down using the mouse wheel and get to the bottom of the div then the rolling of the mouse wheel starts scrolling the browser window. It would be nice if the browser could see that your cursor is over the div and even though it reaches the end, not scroll the window unless you move the cursor outside of the div that you are currently scrolling.

Any ideas or is this just something we have to deal with?

im just building a portfolio website for my self and i wanted to create something that could work well across a number of devices and screen sizes.
i recently came across this website http://tillwiedeck.com/ and noticed that the menu positions itself according to the size of the browser window. This works really well when viewing it on devices such as ipads and iphones. My question is that does anybody know if there is any way i could make an object always position itself at say 25% of the windows width and another object always position itself at 75% of the windows width. really hope i'm making myself clear.

When redirecting a new window, the window should not contain a address bar or the url input text bar.

This is probably stupid on my part so, I apologize in advance.

I created a simple script/function that generates a popup window when you click on a link. The function writes the html code for a media player (the URL for which is passed to the function) depending on what link is clicked, and then creates a text link "Close" below the player. I've put the code below...

BUT! Here's what's happening. I tested it on both Firefox and Google Chrome. (I could swear it was working on both once upon a time...but now just isn't...) In Chrome, the player is visible but the close link is not. In Firefox, the player is not visible(but you can find where it's at and pause/resume and etc.) The close link is visible. The audio file plays on both browsers. The window is supposed to have a black background, which is does in Firefox but for some reason it's blue in Chrome? (Minor issue..I know...)

I've got a chat program which relies on a column in a MySQL database to see if he/she has logged out or not. But if you close the browser window, the computer still thinks you're online. I wrote this in the JavaScript section cos I think it would definitely need Javascript. So any help for updating the database in any way? Thanks!!

Approach 1:

Approach 2:

I have found this Alarm Clock from JavaScript Kit and when the alarm time is reached it redirects to the URL entered. I would like to keep the alarm clock running, have it open a new window for the entered URL such as (Target="Blank") in HTML. Can someone help?
