JavaScript - Onclick Showing On The Same Page
Hey,
I've got a question regarding javascript. I'm a total novice at this and I would love to hear any advice which could help me resolve this problem. I've got a html document with something like this: <form> <input type="button" value="Sum up" name="A" onClick="calculate()"> </form> The thing is onClick="calculate()" transfers me to a new page and I need this function (calculate) shown below this button on the same page. I'm out of ideas of how should I do this. Thanks in advance Similar TutorialsHi, I just installed a javascript library (Walter Zorn drag and drop: http://www.walterzorn.com/dragdrop/dragdrop_e.htm) and one of the properties included is the ability to hide or show divs and images that have been made draggable, using the the following methods: if (window.dd && dd.elements)dd.elements.divID.show() and if(window.dd && dd.elements) dd.elements.divID.hide() I'm wondering if I wanted to make a single button that toggled between hiding and showing a DIV....how would I combine the two methods in a single onclick event? They both work perfectly as separate events on different buttons but I cannot figure out how to combine them. Any help would really be appreciated. I'm hope there's some way to do this w/ the "else" statement but I don't know the proper syntax. Thanks!!! this is my html page.. Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"> function general_formats() { window.open('http://www.test.com/general_formats.php'); } </script> </head> <body> <a href="general_formats.php"><onclick="general_formats(); return false">General Formats</a> </body> </html> When i click ' general Formats ' , a window is opened , i dont need that . What i need is , when i click the link , it should direct to general_fomats.php.. please help me to solve it . .any help will be appreciated . I am a javascript newbie. I have a radio website that runs a live stream 24/7. The live stream is loaded in to an iframe named "stream". I only ever have 2 files that show in that iframe. 1 for when the user has the stream on and another for when they turn it off. stream_on.php and stream_off.php I also have podcasts on the site and my goal is when the user clicks the .swf object to play the podcast, the live stream in the iframe changes to stream_off.php so that the 2 audios don't overlap each other. Here's the code I have so far for the .swf object. PHP Code: <object type='application/x-shockwave-flash' data='player_mp3_maxi.swf' width='50' height='20' class='blur' onclick="window.open('stream_off.php','stream')\"> <param name='movie' value='player_mp3_maxi.swf' /> <param name='bgcolor' value='#666666'>"; if ($row['location'] == "") { echo "<param name='FlashVars' value='mp3=". $site ."podcasts/". $filename ."&showslider=0&showstop=1&autoload=0&bgcolor1=330066&width=50' />"; } else { echo "<param name='FlashVars' value='mp3=http://". $row['location'] . $filename ."&showslider=0&showstop=1&autoload=0&bgcolor1=330066&width=50' />"; } </object> And the code for the iframe. It's default state is stream_on.php since on load I want the stream to start right away. I only need it to change upon clicking of any .swf object on the page. PHP Code: <iframe src='stream_on.php' id='stream' marginheight='0' width='195' height='110' frameborder='0' scrolling='no'></iframe> As you can see, I put the onclick in the object tag. Is this correct ? Is there a piece of javascript code I am missing ? Please Help. So I'm trying to get one particular number from a game's grand exchange database. Say I wanted to know the 'Market price' of this item and the item results would change on click of a drop down box. I don't know how I'd go about getting that one section of the entire page though. Any help is appreciated. Code: <html> <head> <title></title> function doit() { var potion = calculate.potion.options[calculate.potion.selectedIndex].text; if (potion=="Sara brew") { var potion = "Saradomin_brew_(3)"; } if (potion=="Zammy brew") { var potion = "Zamorak_brew_(3)"; } calculate.results.value=potion; } </head> <body> Item: <select name="potion" onChange="doit()" /> <option selected>--Potion--</option> <option>Sara brew</option> <option>Zammy brew</option> <br /> <input type="text" name="results" /> </body> </html> Hello, So I have two pieces of Javascript attached to my open/close text boxes. One for the visibility function: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle_visibility(id) { var e = document.getElementById(id); if(e.style.display == 'block') e.style.display = 'none'; else e.style.display = 'block'; } </script> The other for changinging the image to reflect the text box's status (open of closed): Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var ImgPath='../images/portfolio/'; function changeImage (id) { var tab = document.getElementById(id); if (tab.src.match('open.png')) { tab.src = ImgPath + 'close.png'; } else { tab.src = ImgPath + 'open.png'; } } </script> The problem only shows further down the page, when I click to open a box it automatically goes back to the top of the page instead of staying at the user's current page position I would like it to stop changing the page position onclick. Any help would be much appreciated! Alright, so I'm working on a script, and I'm simply using the following code: document.getElementById("element").onclick = alert("hello"); When I load the page, the alert fires instantaneously. I'm completely stumped. I've checked everything in my not too extensive Javascript file, and it looks fine. What common errors could cause this? I have 1 html page and 1 flash object on it when i click on that flash object than a image should b appear and flash object will hide when i click on that image than flash object should b appear and image will hide the page should b same no other pages can i do this using javascript? if yes than please send the code Dear friends, I was looking for some help on getting all the ten digits mobile numbers in the current webpage and assign an onclick event to it just by a click of a button. Likewise, Suppose there are mobile numbers Code: <p>9876543210 Blah....Blah...Any other content.9654321000</p> <input type="button" value="Get 10 digit mobile numbers" onclick="getnumbers();" /> in the current webpage. and the user clicks on a button. Then all the ten digit mobile numbers(in this case two numbers 9876543210 and 9654321000) gets the html as Code: <p><span onclick="openpopup('9876543210')">9876543210</span> Blah....Blah...Any other content.<span onclick="openpopup('9654321000')">9654321000</span></p> I am a PHP guy and probably suck at JS. Tried experimenting with the following code but didn't got it to work. Code: var html = document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].innerHTML; and match = new RegExp("/\d{10}/"); replaceWith = "<span style='text-decoration:underline;' onclick=\"openpopup('--NUMBER--')\" >--NUMBER--</span>", replaced = html.replace(pattern, replaceWith); Please get me out of this glitch as it is getting harder for me to do it. I have a html page with a lot of thumbnails. The idea is that when the user clicks on an image the onClick event is to display another detailed form and deliver to that form the name of the image in a variable. In the detailed php-form there is a query to MySQL to retrieve a record. The record will be retrieved by a Query based on the name of the picture. Apparently the PHP cannot do the job. I had an idea to make the thumbnail page as a form and to use use a hidden field with the thummnail name which should be carried on with the $_POST array through the submit button but i do not want to have a submit button. The more elegant way is just by clicking the picture the detailed page is opened and the variable is transferred where my php code can make use of the variable for the query. I have never used java before so you have to excuse for the lack of knowledge. Can anyone gie me an idea how i should implemnt this Best regards MSP I have a minor problem with opening multiple pages with onclick. The code work perfectly (I run it with some PHP features). So far so good. Here are the problems: Left mouse button will open 4 new tabs, and the view will jump to 'http://www.domain1.com Middle mouse button will only open http://www.domain1.com What I want: Open all 4 pages in new tabs in the background and stay at the current page. PHP Code: <a href='http://www.domain1.com' onclick="window.open('http://www.domain2.com'); window.open('http://www.domain3.com'); window.open('http://www.domain4.com')\" rel="nofollow" target='new'>Open 4</a> I have a html page with a lot of thumbnails. It works fine, the field gets created and filled in with whatever the user types in the prompt popup. But even though I have specified type="hidden" it is still displaying the field contents at the bottom of my form. Code: var newvar = document.createElement('input'); newvar.setAttribute('name',varname); newvar.setAttribute('type','hidden'); newvar.setAttribute('value',Prompt.show("Enter notes")); document.mainform.appendChild(newvar); Thanks for any help On my site's shopping cart, when clicking the "buy" button, it merely animates a little item that shows that something is now in the customer's cart. I'd like it to do this, and then redirect to "/cart", cutting down the work of what the user actually has to do (we only have one product). Here's what I'm working with: <!-- START ADD TO CART --> {% if featuredproduct.available %} <span class="featured-product price"><span>{{ featuredproduct.price | money }}</span>{% if featuredproduct.compare_at_price_max > featuredproduct.price %} <del>{{ featuredproduct.compare_at_price | money }}</del>{% endif %}</span> <input type="submit" value="{{ settings.text_addtocart }}" class=" add-to-cart addtocart button primary"> {% else %} <h3 class="featured-product price sold-out"><span>Sold Out</span></h3> <input type="submit" value="{{ settings.text_addtocart }}" class="featured-product add-to-cart button primary disabled" disabled="disabled "> {% endif %} <!-- END ADD TO CART --> Adding an "onclick="location.href='/cart';" after the input classes does not fire the actual act of adding the item to the cart, so it shows an empty cart on the redirect. JS newbie, sorry for the rough explanation. Any help greatly appreciated! I'm currently working on a project and I am doing a bunch of image switching. I'm having a problem with the following... I have seven medium image objects and one small one. One is at the top and the other 7 are below. When one of the 7 is clicked, it then becomes the one up top and the one up top then takes the place of the image clicked. This needs to be able to happen no matter which of the seven i click. Also when you click one of the seven it runs a script to change 9 other images in the center of the page. this isnt too important because i have it working already. What i have is, each of the seven images run their function that changes the 9 center images and then it runs another function. What i need is for that function to determine which company for example(shaws, lowes, target) the top image belongs to and replace the image that was clicked with the top one. But i also need to replace the NAME="" and ONCLICK="function()" with the proper ones for the original company up top. Please if you can understand what im trying to do let me know, if you need further clarification i can do so. i can draw a picture of what im trying to do or the layout if needed but i cant necessarily show anyone the project due to a non-disclosure. When i press button it display output on the next page .How do i get output on the same page. Please help me. Here is my code <input type = "textbox" id = "box1"> <script type ="text/javascript"> function show() { var abc = document.getElementById("box1").value; document.write(abc); } </script> <input type = "button" value ="display on the same page" onclick ="show()"> Is it possible disable an onclick after clicking it and then enable it from another onclick by id Code: <img id="one" href="images/homepage/sliders/bonus_button.jpg" style="position:relative; top:30px; left:50px; height:30px; width:70px; float:left;"> This code runs when it is clicked: Code: $("#one").click(function() { runEffectB(); return false; }); What I would like to happen is for either runEffectB() to not run if it was just run or to disable the #one.click once it has run. I am assuming I will be able to re-enable it from another onclick running a similar function. This is jquery and jquery ui if that helps. Any ideas much appreciated. Hi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. Hey guys, OK, so I have two buttons (code below) that when a user clicks on it, it will place text in a textarea. You can view all the code below: Buttons: Code: <div id="newButton"> <a href="#"><img src="http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/17/29/94/19/graphi10.png" alt="Request a Graphic"></a> <a href="#"><img src="http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/17/29/94/19/review11.png" alt="Request a Review"</a> </div> The textarea ID is: Code: text_editor_textarea and this is the code that I would like to be placed inside the textarea: Code: Nature of Request: Creation Size: Primary Colors: Text To Insert: Donation: Extra Information: URL: I tried this, but the BBCode would not keep it's structure and would all end up on one line. EDIT: Oh...The BBCode is parsing inside the code box >.< <a href="#" onClick="showClubs(<% Response.Write x_ID_Nanny %>);" > Now this showclubs function shows a hidden div and at the end I have a return:false; but when you click on the link - it still seems to reload to the page and take you to the top how can I get it to just show the div without seeming to reload the page? Hey. When a checkbox is checked, I want it to add the id number of what I've got in a PHP variable, to appear in a <input type="text" />. For example: The id is 1, 2, and 3. So 3 checkbox's. I click on the first, and it adds to another input field, '1'. I hit the second, and the same thing happens, except the id is 2. Of course, I know how to do the ID and all with PHP. All I need to do now, is where when you click a check box, it adds to another field, and adds & after every check. Here is my code: Code: <input type="checkbox" name="delete" onclick="this.checkedbox.style.display=(this.value=='checked' ? 'inline' : '2' )" /> <input type="text" name="checkedbox" /> Thanks. |
