JavaScript - Submit Only What Shown
Hi!
I have a page with 8 different <input type="select"> fields. All the time only one out from this 8 is shown. the rest of them are hidden with css: display:none; How can I submit with POST only the select that's showing, and not the rest? All of them have differnt names. Like dropdown1, dropdown2, and so on... I dont know how can I get the value out from the one that's shown, and not the rest. Please Help my brain is about to explode... Similar TutorialsAnyone know of a script that shows a different page based upon a users IP address? Thanks I want to limit the number of characters shown in a select box when its 'dormant' ie. I want the drop down to have the full word but when something is selected, I want it to show only the first 3 characters of the word. I can limit the width to a fixed px width but the right width is different depending on the word. (its a drop down of month names, I want them to have the full 'grown up' name in the drop down but that's too long and cumbersome for the space I have, I've trimmed it down by setting the width in CSS but it looks so much neater when the first 3 characters just show in the box rather than 4 or 3.5) I am using javascript that will show/hide a DIV if a link is clicked. In the DIV is a form. When the user input's form info, and the form is processed, if there is an error the page reloads displaying the error. However, the user must click the link again to see the form and correct their mistake. Is there a way to keep the div shown on reload? Thanks! Code: <script language="javascript"> function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("show"); var text = document.getElementById("add"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { ele.style.display = "none"; text.innerHTML = "show"; } else { ele.style.display = "block"; text.innerHTML = "Hide"; } } </script> Hi guys, so far any values recorded in my database are shown on the map: http://www.vfrflight.co.uk/new2/phpsqlajax_map_v3.html Code: <!DOCTYPE html > <head> <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" /> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/> <title>PHP/MySQL & Google Maps Example</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ var customIcons = { restaurant: { icon: 'http://labs.google.com/ridefinder/images/mm_20_blue.png', shadow: 'http://labs.google.com/ridefinder/images/mm_20_shadow.png' }, bar: { icon: 'http://labs.google.com/ridefinder/images/mm_20_red.png', shadow: 'http://labs.google.com/ridefinder/images/mm_20_shadow.png' } }; function load() { var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"), { center: new google.maps.LatLng(47.6145, -122.3418), zoom: 13, mapTypeId: 'roadmap' }); var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow; // Change this depending on the name of your PHP file downloadUrl("phpsqlajax_genxml.php", function(data) { var xml = data.responseXML; var markers = xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker"); for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) { var name = markers[i].getAttribute("name"); var address = markers[i].getAttribute("address"); var type = markers[i].getAttribute("type"); var point = new google.maps.LatLng( parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat")), parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"))); var html = "<b>" + name + "</b> <br/>" + address; var icon = customIcons[type] || {}; var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: point, icon: icon.icon, shadow: icon.shadow }); bindInfoWindow(marker, map, infoWindow, html); } }); } function bindInfoWindow(marker, map, infoWindow, html) { google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infoWindow.setContent(html); infoWindow.open(map, marker); }); } function downloadUrl(url, callback) { var request = window.ActiveXObject ? new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLHTTP') : new XMLHttpRequest; request.onreadystatechange = function() { if (request.readyState == 4) { request.onreadystatechange = doNothing; callback(request, request.status); } }; request.open('GET', url, true); request.send(null); } function doNothing() {} //]]> </script> </head> <body onload="load()"> <div id="map" style="width: 500px; height: 300px"></div> </body> </html> However, how do i let people place markers when a button is pressed. I cannot combine the codes to save my life... Hello everyone, well i have asked for alot of issues earlier but none completely got resolved i hope that i get answer for this one. I want something a script or anything that shows loading as we have seen .gif images, before the game loads. I went through google and tried alot of scripts but failed maybe i don't know the exact method how to implement it as i am weak in jquery or scripting. I would like some one to help me out as i don't know what to do thank you in advance. Hi @ all! I've a div that is editable (contentEditable = true). The div has a fixed size like a letter page. When the user has written so much text that the text overflows I want add a new div above and let flow the overflown text in the other div. (it's the some behavior like MS Word in page view, but now it is in the web) It is possible to do something like this in the web? One way to implement this is to check if the text of the div overflows (I've found java script examples in the web which do that). And than I need the text that overflows to move it to the next div. But I have not found a function that do this. Is there such a function? Another way is to insert a gap at that position a new page begins and use an background image that looks like a page border. With this solution, the whole text is in one div but it looks like floating to another page. But therefore, I have to add a gap between to lines at a specific position (the page border/margin and the gab between the pages). Does anyone have an idea how to realize this? Maybe there are other possibilities to find a solution, aren't there? I hope, you have understand what I want to realize. If not, please feel free to ask me! Thank you for answers and hint in advanced! Konstantin Hi I have a problem with a form in my site he http://www.21centuryanswers.com/submit.php if no field is filled and you click submit, an alert will be shown, yet the next page will still load! How do I fix it? the code for the form is: <form action="privacy.php" method="post" onsubmit="return checkform(this);"> <fieldset> <center> E-mail: <input type="textfield" name="email" size="60" value="" /><br/></br> Question: <input type="textfield" name="question" size="70" value="" /><br/><br/> <input type="submit" value = "Submit"/> </center> </fieldset> </form> and here is the validation script: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- function checkform ( form ) { // ** START ** if (form.email.value == "") { alert( "Please enter your email." ); form.author.focus(); return false ; } if (form.question.value == "") { alert( "Please enter the question." ); form.title.focus(); return false ; } // ** END ** return true ; } //--> </script> Please help! Hi, I have a form that when you click submit gives a warning box asking if to continue code below Now when I type in the text field and press enter it doesn't submit nor does it pop up the warning box, how would I do this Code for submit button Code: <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- function submitMyForm() { var agree=confirm("ARE YOU SURE ?"); if (agree) return true ; else return false ; } // --> </script> Code: <form action="admin-delete.php" method="post" name="cp_delete" id="cp_delete"> <input type="text" name="cp_delete_bg" id="cp_delete_bg"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit" onclick="return submitMyForm()"/> </form> I've got the following 2 fields in my form: <input type="file" name="filename" id="filename" value="filename"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Upload Image" /> Now I want to hide both of them as soon as the submit button is pressed. Problem is that I'm a javascript noob and I can't find it with google :S Can someone help me? I have created some online software which uses form data to submit to another page. The problem is that I have other submit buttons in the same form which submit to different pages (depending on which button is pressed). The first submit button works fine but all the others only work once. Code: <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button1' onclick="wbform.action='page1.php'; target='mainFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button2' onclick="wbform.action='page2.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button3' onclick="wbform.action='page3.php'; target='topFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button4' onclick="wbform.action='page4.php'; target='topFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button5' onclick="wbform.action='page5.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button6' onclick="wbform.action='page6.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> Any ideas my friends? Hi all Is using the real form submit button a problem in any way? Can it actaully send a form when a person uses 'enter' in a text field. When I use this submit, it triggers my validation which is great. Code: <input type="submit" value="OnSubmit validate" /> However this way doesn't seem to trigger my validation although It may solve the above form send problem (if that realy exists). How do I get it to act the same as real submit so it will trigger validation like onsubmit above? Code: <input type="button" value="Send Feedback" onclick="this.form.submit()" /> LT does any of that make sense? all ideas helpful and appreciated I am trying to auto submit a login form remotely using .submit() . It's submitting, but for some reason if I use submit() the login isn't processing. However, if I turn off the auto submit and use an actual submit button it logs in just fine. Now, in the form tag there is a call onsubmit for some validation, does .submit() trigger that form onsubmit="" function? Is there something that happens differently when a user clicks a button verses the .submit(). Thanks! Paul Hi all, I'm designing something to addon to an existing product. I'm struggling with some javascript problems. I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage. Is this possible? Thanks Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript. Code: <noscript><img src="no_script_quote.gif" width="406" height="94"/></noscript><script language="javascript"> var delay=6000 var curindex=0 var images=new Array() images[0]="quote1.gif" images[1]="quote2.gif" images[2]="quote3.gif" images[3]="quote4.gif" images[4]="quote5.gif" var preload=new Array() for (n=0;n<images.length;n++) { preload[n]=new Image() preload[n].src=images[n] } document.write('<img name="defaultimage" src="'+images[Math.floor(Math.random()*(images.length))]+'">') function rotateimage() { if (curindex==(tempindex=Math.floor(Math.random()*(images.length)))){ curindex=curindex==0? 1 : curindex-1 } else curindex=tempindex document.images.defaultimage.src=images[curindex] } setInterval("rotateimage()",delay) </script> But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics. Is there anyway to modify the code that I'm using to accomplish this? Or... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dell I have a page with a GoogleMap with a GoogleBar and I would like the GoogleBar to appear with something written in it already and to have that search executed. In other words, I would like to "write something to the GoogleBar and press Enter" automatically as soon as the map loads. How can I do this? btw: By GoogleBar, I mean the search bar that appears on the map after using the enableGoogleBar() function. I have a basic understanding of Javascript, and I have posted here before. And my question is rather simple. I work for a company that moderates a virtual world. We have a mod tool but its kind of goofy. We have to edit a URL and then send the URL in a browser. It's a long and boring process. I am looking to have a basic form that puts all the required information together and submits it. What I can't figure out is how to submit a URL in javascript but not load it in a new window. This is a sample of what I currently use in another javascript used by the company: Code: theReport = replace(theReport,'\n','<br>'); var disp_setting="toolbar=no,location=no,directories=yes,menubar=yes,scrollbars=yes,width=480, height=640, left=400, top=0"; var docprint=window.open("","",disp_setting); docprint.document.open(); docprint.document.write('<html><head><title>Report Generator</title>'); docprint.document.write('</head><body>'); docprint.document.write(theReport); docprint.document.write('</body></html>'); docprint.document.close(); docprint.focus(); Hi, I want submit a form when highlight options select value = true. I did the following code, but it not works. Could someone help me to fix it? Quote: <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"> if onfocus="url.select()" Return true; { document.form1.submit(); } </script> stickers I have a userscript that helps me move things around on a vB based forum that I moderate. I am using the following to quickly select and submit my selection, however, when it hits the document.vbform.submit(); part of the code the pages just sits there. It does work if the forum ID's I have in place don't line up with any of the forum ID's on the forums but it just will ooad the page and say no such forum exists. So I know submit(); can work..... Code: // INJECT FUNCTION TO PAGE FOR LATER USE window.InjectFunction = function(reg) { if (reg == "na") { var theScr = "" + "function des(id) {" + "\nvar destination = document.getElementsByName('destforumid')[0];" + "\nvar radio = document.getElementsByName('redirect');" + "\nif (id == '39') {" + "\nradio[0].checked = true;" + "\n}" + "\nelse {" + "\nradio[2].checked = true;" + "\n}" + "\nfor ( var i = 0; i < destination.options.length; i++ ) {" + "\nif ( destination.options[i].value == id ) {" + "\ndestination.options[i].selected = true;" + "\nreturn;" + "\n}" + "\n}" + "\ndocument.vbform.submit();" + "\n}" } var scrTag = document.createElement("script") var scrHead = document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0]; scrTag.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); scrTag.appendChild(document.createTextNode(theScr)); scrHead.appendChild(scrTag); } // ADD MENU THAT WILL PASS FORUM IDs AND CALL INJECTED FORUMS window.NewMenu = function(reg) { var divTag = document.createElement("div"); divTag.id = "div1"; divTag.setAttribute("align","left"); divTag.style.margin = "0px auto"; divTag.style.backgroundColor = "#f5edc3"; divTag.style.position = "fixed"; divTag.style.bottom = "0px"; divTag.style.left = "50%"; divTag.style.width = "196px"; divTag.style.marginLeft = "-98px"; divTag.style.height = "auto"; divTag.className ="dynamicDiv"; divTag.zIndex = "1000"; document.body.appendChild(divTag); if (reg == "na") { var dBody = '<div class="newmenu" onClick="des(\'2\');">SELECTION 2 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu2" onClick="des(\'43\');">SELECTION 2 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu" onClick="des(\'41\');">SELECTION 3 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu2" onClick="des(\'15\');">SELECTION 4 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu" onClick="des(\'4\');">SELECTION 5 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu2" onClick="des(\'3\');">SELECTION 6 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu" onClick="des(\'19\');">SELECTION 7 </div>' + '\n<div class="newmenu2" onClick="des(\'39\');">TRASH </div>' ; } divTag.innerHTML = dBody; } var location = window.location.toString(); var region = location.substring((location.indexOf("//") + 2), location.indexOf(".")); var view = location.substring((location.indexOf("board/") + 6), location.indexOf(".php")); if (view == "forumdisplay") { HideMoveClose(); ColorThreads(); } else if (view == "postings") { var destination = document.getElementsByName('destforumid')[0]; if ( destination != null) { ChangeRedirect(); InjectFunction(region); NewMenu(region); ApplyCSS(); window.scrollTo(0,document.body.scrollHeight); } } else if (view == "search") { ColorThreads(); } else { //alert(); } Please note I have edited out a large portion of this code to make the search for the problem a little easier and the code that remains is relevant to the issue. As you can see there are other functions and blah blah but those all work correctly. On the if statements I removed the else if's and else since they are basically just the same thing as the if portion just with a different region code. I have wrapped this whole deal in try {} catch() {} but no errors get thrown. Please any thoughts? Hi basically i have this invite code which when a member copy and pastes the javascript code into browser it auto selects all friends and send an invite. The problem is that the user has to do this manually, is there a way i can create a clickable button which when they click it automatically pastes the code i want into browser and submits? Thanks. Hi, Normally when i try to put a form in a html page i use the Code: <form action="http://www.site.com/test.php" method="post"> and so on with the respective input (Something i learn over here) Today i was trying to create a html box whith the purpose of submiting to a external site but the problem i got is that the external site doesn't use the Code: <form> tag to submit and uses javascript in an onclick event. Is there any way i can still submit? Note: I tried an iframe 0 to load up the site and the respective scripts and emulate the submition in the top page but didn't work out.
