JavaScript - Round Number 2 Decimal Points
Hello:
I have this js function: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function updatesum() { document.PaymentForm.newbalance.value = (document.PaymentForm.balance.value -0) - (document.PaymentForm.paymentamount.value -0); } </script> I want to round the value of Code: document.PaymentForm.newbalance.value to two decimal points. May I request some assistance! Similar TutorialsHello, I am in the process of using the split function for splitting strings into an array. The problem I am dealing with is how to do this with local language. Not all languages us the space " " delimiter between words to write a phrase or sentence. I have a list of all of delimiters for english, japanese, chinese, korean in Decimal Code Point format. For example, the decimal code point equivalent for " " is 32. Is it possible to use the javascript split function with decimal code points? If not, how can I reformat them into a format that js would understand? Many thanks. Hello, Could someone help me with this problem? I'd like the posted result to be a number with two decimals. I know how to make this normally but not with this kind of script. Thanks very much in advance! Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function calcResult(){ document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = ''; var num1 = newNumber(document.getElementById('txt1').value); var num2 = 0.429; var num3 = 1; if(isNaN(num1) || isNaN(num2)){ alert('Please enter a number'); } else { document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = num1 * num2; document.getElementById('entry').innerHTML = num1 * num3; } } window.onload=function(){ document.getElementById('btnCalc').onclick = calcResult; document.getElementById('btnCalc').onclick = calcEntry; } </script> </head> <body> <p> <input type="text" id="txt1" size="5" value="" maxlength="5" /> <button id="btnCalc">Calculate</button> </p> <p> <span id="entry"></span> × 0.429 = <span id="result"></span> </p> </body> </html> I'm fairly new to programming, I just started JavaScript and I did read the rules. I am a student and will not post my code asking someone to do my homework. I just need a little guidance. For my assignment, when a webpage is loaded, it prompts the user to enter hours worked, their pay rate and tax rate, then use a function to calculate the net weekly pay, then display all numbers on the screen. Now I have this working and it appears on the screen, but I need to limit the hours worked to a whole number and the pay and tax rates need to only show 2 digits on either side of the decimal. From searching I found a lot of information about ParceInt, ParceFloat and toFixed, but cannot get these to work. Either these are not correct or I'm not using them correctly. Below are samples of 2 of the prompts. Can someone help me with this problem? Also is it better the handle this problem at the prompt or in the function or where it writes to the screen? Code: var hours_worked = prompt ("How many hours did you work?", ""); parseInt(hours_worked); var pay_rate = prompt ("What is your pay rate?", ""); parseFloat(pay_rate); Hopefully the subject was good enough and the content descriptive to understand when I'm trying to accomplish. Brian Please could anyone offer any advice, in simple terms on how to add anchor points to a page in order to create a smooth scroll element such as this one: http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser/smoothscroll/#top Any help would be much appreciated. input: takes n coordinating points as inut and reflects them according to x,y axis depending of our wish and counts number of points in each quadrant. sample input: enter number of points 4 1 1 1 -1 -1 -1 -1 1 enter number of opperations 4 x 1 3(means reflects first, second, third points according to x-axis) count 1 3 y 1 2 count 1 3 sample output: q1 q2 q3 q4 1 1 0 2 0 0 1 3 Hi all, I have a boss who wants to show 5000 points on a Google map. So far, only a fraction of this being displayed freezes the browser. I've been challenged to make this possible while still in the realm of the browser. Would the flash version of Google maps api be a better bet? Does flash provide a better framework for this kind of heavy usage? Hi all, I am trying to wrap a text selection with BBCode. I have it working, but there is one final part I need help with. First, here's the code I'm using: Code: var range = ed.selection.getRng(true); var s = ed.dom.create('span', {}, ''); range.surroundContents(s); s.innerHTML = open + s.innerHTML + close; ed.selection.select(s); This is an explanation of each line: get the user's selection as a W3C compatible range create an empty <span> element surround the selection range with the span convert the selection from "selection" to "[bbcode]selection[/bbcode]" by using innerHTML select the new <span> element Of course, selecting the span ALSO selects the BBCode open and close tag... like in this pictu So, the last thing I need to do (the whole point of this post)... how do I MOVE the range start and end points so that only the selection is selected and NOT the whole thing? I will greatly appreciate if someone can tell me how to move those selection start and end points... Thanks! -- Roger Hi, I need a help with a project I am working on. I am not a developer so not so familiar with javascript. Suppose I have a map with ten junctions and based on that map, I need to calculate all the possible routes between one junction to another. How do I represent the map in javascript and how do I code the function to calculate all the possible routes?? :-( many thanks if someone can help me hey. ok so i have a page with an input field where a user can input a name. when they do so it will bring back the postcode for that name and then display a marker on a google map in the correct place. unfortunately some of the names have more than 1 result which means it needs to plot more than 1 marker on the map...ive spent a lot of time on this but cant figure it out. can someone help me please? here is the code for my page so far. <head> <title> New Document </title> <meta name="Generator" content="EditPlus"> <meta name="Author" content=""> <meta name="Keywords" content=""> <meta name="Description" content=""> <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" /> <style type="text/css"> html { height: 100% } body { height: 100%; What I intended is that every subsequent radio button in each <td> garners incremental points by 1. Eg: Q1, 1st radio button gets 0pt, 2nd radio button gets 1pt, 3rd radio button gets 2pt. Does anyone have any idea how to implement that, all help are greatly appreciated! Hey Guys, I'm working on a site and it needed borders with opacity, and since you can do it with CSS I done it With jQuery. But now I would like to round the corners of it, I did try border-radius, but it's only effecting the containing div not the borders(see below). Is there a solution to this? Here's the small snippet of JS: PHP Code: $('.mainContent').border({ width: 6, color: 'white', alpha: .4 }); Just started to learn java & came up with the following, but can't get the math.round to work. Anyone able to tell me where I'm going wrong please ??? <p> <script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[ var metrics = { "mm" : 1, "cm" : 10, "m" : 1000, "inch" : 25.4, "foot" : 304.8 }; function roundNumber(rnum, rlength) { // Arguments: number to round, number of decimal places var newnumber = Math.round(rnum*Math.pow(10,rlength))/Math.pow(10,rlength); document.roundform.numberfield.value = parseFloat(newnumber); // Output the result to the form field (change for your purposes) } function roundme(len, wid, sq){ math.round.len; wid = math.round(wid); sq = math.round(sq); alert(len); }; function roundNumber(rnum, rlength) { // Arguments: number to round, number of decimal places var newnumber = Math.round(rnum*Math.pow(10,rlength))/Math.pow(10,rlength); document.roundform.numberfield.value = parseFloat(newnumber); // Output the result to the form field (change for your purposes) }; function changeme(id, action) { var val = document.getElementById("sizegroup"); if (val.style.display == 'none') { val.style.display = 'block' } else { val.style.display = 'none' } }; function convert(num, dec){ var val = document.getElementById("boxa").value; var val2 = document.getElementById("boxb").value; if(isNaN(val)){return val}; if(isNaN(val2)){return val2}; document.getElementById("boxc").value = val * metrics[document.getElementById("choice1").value]/ metrics[document.getElementById("choice3").value]; metrics[document.getElementById("choice1").value]/ metrics[document.getElementById("choice3").value]; document.getElementById("boxd").value = val2 * metrics[document.getElementById("choice2").value]/ metrics[document.getElementById("choice4").value]; document.getElementById("sqmtrs").value = document.getElementById("boxc").value * document.getElementById("boxd").value ; document.getElementById("boxc").value = math.round(document.getElementById("boxc").value); }; var interval = null; function watchChanges(){ interval == null ? setInterval("convert()", 500) : clearInterval(interval); } // ]]></script> </p> <p>Length in imperial-metric / Width in imperial-metric</p> <div><input id="boxa" style="width: 40px;" onfocus="watchChanges()" onblur="watchChanges()" type="text" /><select id="choice1" onchange="convert();"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option value="cm">centimeters</option> <option value="m">metres</option> <option selected="selected" value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select> <input id="boxb" style="width: 40px;" onfocus="watchChanges()" onblur="watchChanges()" type="text" /><select id="choice2" onchange="convert()"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option value="cm">centimeters</option> <option value="m">metres</option> <option selected="selected" value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select></div> <div><input id="boxc" style="width: 40px;" type="text" disabled="disabled" /><select id="choice3" onchange="convert()"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option value="cm">centimeters</option> <option selected="selected" value="m">metres</option> <option value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select> <input id="boxd" style="width: 40px;" type="text" disabled="disabled" /><select id="choice4" onchange="convert()"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option value="cm">centimeters</option> <option selected="selected" value="m">metres</option> <option value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select></div> <p> </p> <div>Total sq metres : <input id="sqmtrs" style="width: 40px;" type="text" value="" disabled="disabled" /></div> <p> </p> <div class="label">Please round up to half a metre when choosing</div> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5"> <tbody> <tr> <td>Round:</td> <td><input type="text" name="numberfield" value="" /> to <input type="text" name="decimalfield" value="2" size="3" /> decimal places</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Result:</td> <td><input type="text" name="roundedfield" value="" /> <input onclick="roundNumber(numberfield.value, decimalfield.value);" type="button" value="Calculate" /></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> I have a function below where every time a question is submitted, it will add a new row in the table with a textbox which allows numbers entry only. Addins like firebug and chromes console show you this round trip time but i was hoping there was a way to extract it from the response itself. I would also like to know the response time from when the server sent the request and the client received it. I do not think this is possible since the server and client have different timing systems but it would be very useful. |
