JavaScript - Delaying A Page Change So Gif Animation Can Play
Hi all,
On my website I've got a simple animated .gif I want to play each time someone clicks a link on the menu bar. The problem is that while the image changes successfully, the webpage changes too quickly so the animated.gif won't play. I'm assuming this has something to do with setTimeout though I'm too much of a noob at Java to get this right. Here is one of the buttons: Code: <a href="facts.html" onmouseover='facts.src="images/thefactsbutton2.jpg"' onmouseout='facts.src="images/thefactsbutton.jpg"' onclick='top.src="images/chimneytopsm.jpg"'> <img name="facts" src="images/thefactsbutton.jpg" /> </a> Similar TutorialsI'm trying to make a website where when certain keys are pressed, (in this example the key can be "a") it triggers an image change and plays a sound that loops at the same time. Is this possible? I also wanted to have a function where if you click a certain area it changes the sounds for each key to a different one. Should the whole script be nested within an if else statement where if that function is clicked, it causes the sounds to be the second set and if it isn't, they play as the normal set? I'd also prefer to not use HTML5 audio tags if possible.
HI,what is wrong here? I am trying to write code to print a message 5 seconds after document has loaded. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <script> var i; function printMsg(){ document.write("delayed string"); //tried adding to this line: clearTimeout(i); } function timedfunc(){ i=setTimeout(printMsg,5000); } </script> </head> <body onload="timedfunc()"> </body> </html> The message appears ok but the page loading bar in the browser + hourglass wont go away (in firefox). Hi gents, I am trying to figure out, how to play a video file saved on the server, displayed as a hyperlink from the file manager created in JavaScript? The outcome should be following: When a file name (video.avi) clicked in JavaScript file manager, the server will open a page with the embed Windows Media Player (player.php) and it will start playing the clicked video file? Any suggestions? Code of the JavaScript file manager Code: <? /* Start Directory - To list the files contained within the current directory enter '.', otherwise enter the path to the directory you wish to list. The path must be relative to the current directory. */ $startdir = '.'; /* Show Thumbnails? - Set to true if you wish to use the scripts auto-thumbnail generation capabilities. Many thanks for help. ZizaX. I have looked all over for an answer to this, but haven't found a definite way to do it yet. I am updating my audio page (a demo track list for getting composing work) and getting rid of my flash audio player in favor of embedding .mp3 files, or adding them with the HTML5 audio tag. What I would like to be able to do is link into the page, and have that link autoplay a specific track out of the 10-20 that I will have on the same page. The problem is I am extremely new to scripting and have no idea where to even start with this. The reason I want it to be able to autoplay specific tracks is so I can market a specific track, and have that person (who is already expecting to hear the music on page load) not have to then look through the track list for that one track I was promoting and click play. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! http://everythingsyoga.netau.net/Ang...ite2/Eat.html# The second link to the right "Eat our Famous" is the link in question, you'll notice the div on the left has about a 3 second delay. Hi All, I came across various codes that is used to delay the banner from not loading while the document is loading but i got struck with this one, this one sounds interesting but confusing, Which page in this code is delaying the banner & how to adjust that (to delay further or to speedup)- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Script?...AFS020fader_US heya, ^.^ sorry if this is in the wrong section, im new here so i wasn't sure as it concerns both java and php, so basically i've made a website that pings a server address when someone views the site, but currently it will ping every time you f5 or refresh ect, what i need it to do is only ping once every 2mins, store the value for when its not being pinged to be displayed, now i got told this could be done in javascript?, but my knowledge of javascript is very minimal, i also got told that "var m_pingDomain_timer = setInterval(dopingDomain, 120);" may have something to do with it?, and help /code or pointers in the right direction would be a great help , il leave you with the PHP code so you can look over below Code: <tr> <td class="SEBody1"> <?php // Function to check response time error_reporting(0); function pingDomain($domain) { $starttime = microtime(true); $file = fsockopen ($domain, 80, $errno, $errstr, 10); $stoptime = microtime(true); $status = 0; if (!$file) $status = -1; // Site is down else { fclose($file); $status = ($stoptime - $starttime) * 1000; $status = floor($status); } return $status; } echo '<table>'; $domainbase ="google.com"; $status = pingDomain($domainbase); if ($status != -1) echo "<img src='img/shard_status_online.png' width='18' height='18' alt='Online' />Online"; else echo "<img src='img/shard_status_offline.png' width='18' height='18' alt='Offline' />Offline"; echo '</table>'; ?> </td> <td class="SEBody1">로그인</td> <td class="SEBody1">Login</td> <td class="SEBody1"> <?php if ($status !=-1) echo "$status ms"; else echo "0 ms"; ?> </td> </tr> Hello to all, new to this forum so pardon any mistakes in my question. Currently the flash piece just calls on javascript functions. I want the buttons in the flash piece to be able to change the src of the iframe. PHP Code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('video').setAttribute('src',address2); function closeVideo() { document.getElementById('video').style.height='0px'; return false; document.getElementById('video').setAttribute('src', address2); } function openVideo() { document.getElementById('video').style.height='391px'; return false; document.getElementById('video').setAttribute('src', address); } </script> So the way the code works now is when the page loads it sets the iframe with the id of 'video' to the variable address2 which it pulls from an XML file. In the flash piece when a button is hit, it calls openVideo() which "opens" the iframe and I want it to change the contents to address. This does not work though. It opens the frame but will not change the src. I've tried a bunch of different things now such as make the flash target the iframe using navigateToURL(request1, 'video'); but in Firefox and IE is opens it stills as if I had _blank in there. It does strangely work in Safari. Any ideas how to get this to work? The part that will change is the results section (bottom part of the calc) based on a few different variations or setups, so I want to be able have them click on a few different options. Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Depending on which one they click I want the javascript that is run for the results section to correspond to the option chosen. I also, want to be able to have a default option displayed the first time the page is loaded and then have it change if a different option is chosen. I don't think reloading the page is necessary, but I'm new to this and could use a little direction. I hope what I'd like to do makes a little sense. I'm not asking for any code written that will do this, but naturally something hints or tips that could get me going. I don't know how to "monitor" a link and return a value to a variable, so that it can be put into a an if statement in the results section. After that, it would be continually monitored or somehow restarted if the variable does change. Again, I don't know if this is the best way to go at it, but I'm not sure at all. Any help would be awesome. I have looked at "onclick", but I'm not completely sure how I can tie it all together of if I should use another method. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas/help. |
