JavaScript - Javascript Not Working In Some Browsers?
Hey, everyone:
I've been having some trouble with javascript in different browsers. I developed my website using Safari and Chrome on a Mac, only to now realize that some of my javascript will NOT function in FireFox and IE (for both Mac and Windows). I understand that each browser has its quirks, but I'm not aware of anything that would cause my code to act so strangely. The biggest problem seems to be my onload() call in the body tag. Actually, I used Javascript a lot in that website and I am developing it in Internet Explorer Environment but I want to display it on the Firefox or Google Chrome but the problem is some of javascript codes do not work in these browsers. So what Should I do? I think I need to define the javascript for the different browsers, so how can I do that? I' am trying to do a frame by frame animation, lik an animated gif. I am using svg (vector graphics) and IE9 has native support for svg. The code functions in every other browser but IE9 plays the animation once then nothing. I have a feature on my website that allows users to choose the website background (using alternate css sheets) and then uses an externally linked javascript file to store the background choice as a cookie so it is consistent throughout the website. This works perfectly locally (i.e. when previewing my website on my computer) but now it is uploaded to my host it doesn't appear to be working. Nice It works on every browser ie7 ie8 ie9 FF safari chrome but not on opera. On Opera the regular file input appears. I've had a good hoke round the 'net and I know there's loads of scripts which do similar things. But either they are too complicated for me to figure out how to use them eg uploadify (bit of a newbie) or they do similar things but just not as well - like making the custom image the same size as the file input would be (there's issues with that too). here's the script I'm using - there's not much to it How come it doesn't work in Opera grrrr... Is there anyway to fix it? This is perfect for what I want apart from not working in Opera I have a jumpmenu that opens a shadowbox to show an image. It works fine in IE9, but in IE7 the shadowbox does not open and in the developer tools the error says "The value of the property 'MM_jumpMenu' is null or undefined, not a Function object". I am working on a site and used this script http://livepipe.net/ It works in ie fine on their site, but not on mine. On my site it runs on every browser except IE and generates the errors below.
