JavaScript - Time Calculator For Website
Hello, I'm new here but not new to programming, I do some but only basic stuff. I know I could do this project in other languages but I'm not good with Java yet which seems like it would be the best for this request..
I am trying to implement a time calculator onto my website with preset times to tell how long it would take to make troops. Say you want to make 100 Catapults and each Catapult takes one minute and ten seconds to make, I would like to be able to show the time in days/hours/minutes preferably in the format of 0:00:00. I would like it so someone can type in the amount of troops they want. There are Infantry that take 0:00:22, Cavalry that take 0:00:52, Archers that take 0:00:35 and Catapults that take 0:01:10. I have tried to do this and search for things that could help but I didn't find much.. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me with this. Similar TutorialsI am trying to make a simple calculator to calculate dBm, Vpp, Vrms. It is basically a conversion calculator. I am brand new to JavaScript and tried to follow a tutorial but I'm coming up short. I will post both my .js and .html code below. My issue is that when I hit the "Calculate" button nothing happens. Here is the javascript. It has a main calculate function and a function that gives me a log base 10 method. Code: //Main Calculation function calculate() { if(dBm === null && Vpp === null){ var calc = document.getElementById('ecalc'); var Vpp2 = (4*Vrms)/Math.sqrt(2); var dBm2 = 20 * (log10(Vpp/(Math.sqrt(0.008*Z)))); var Vrms2 = Vrms; return false; } else if(Vpp === null && Vrms === null){ var calc = document.getElementById('ecalc'); var Vpp2 = Math.sqrt(0.008*Z)*Math.pow(10,(dBm/20)); var Vrms2 = (Math.sqrt(2)/2)*(Vpp/2); var dBm2 = dBm; return false; } else if(dBm === null && Vrms === null){ var calc = document.getElementById('ecalc'); var dBm2 = 20 * (log10(Vpp/(Math.sqrt(0.008*Z)))); var Vrms2 = (Math.sqrt(2)/2)*(Vpp/2); var Vpp2 = Vpp; return false; } calc.Vpp2.value = Vpp2; calc.Vrms2.value = Vrms2; calc.dBm2.value = dBm2; return false; } //Log base 10 Function function log10(val) { return Math.log(val) / Math.log(10); } Here is the HTML. It has the form in it. As you can see there are 4 inputs. Z is required and only one of the other values can be entered (hence the if statements in the js. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <title>Untitled 1</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="Calculate.js"> </script> </head> <body> <form id="ecalc" action="#"> <table align="center"border="1"> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"> Enter a Z value and one other value. </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">dBm: </td> <td align="left"><input type="text" name="dBm" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">Vpp: </td> <td align="left"><input type="text" name="Vpp" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">Vrms: </td> <td align="left"><input type="text" name="Vrms" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">Z (Ohms): </td> <td align="left"><input type="text" name="Z" size="20" value="50" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"> <input type="button" value="Calculate" onclick= "calculate();" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">dBm:</td> <td alig="left"><input type="text" name="dBm2" size="20" readonly="readonly" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">Vpp:</td> <td alig="left"> <input type="text" name="Vpp2" size="20" readonly="readonly" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="right">Vrms:</td> <td alig="left"> <input type="text" name="Vrms2" size="20" readonly="readonly" /></td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> There is probably something simple that needs to be fixed but I have spent a whole day trying to figure this out. If anyone has any comments please let me know. Thanks in advance! This website calculates r-score (it's a type of formula that is used with number in Quebec Cegep's): http://rscore.x10.mx/ Anyhow, I looked at the source and saw that he identified each text box a variable and submit puts it all together to give r-score. But where is the formula used to calculate the r-score listed in the source? Like when I look through the source I see it takes the "High school average" variable, the "class average" variable, etc. and then when I click submit, it gives me a number, but what is it doing with all these variables to get these numbers? Has he hidden the calculation formula or am I blind? Thanks! hi im using dhtml xgrid where i need to do validation for time ,(from-time and to-time i.e ind==1 and ind==2 ) to-time must be greater than from-time else i need to alert a message to-time must be greater than from-time. can any one send me the code for it time format is[05:00]. Code: var err_str=""; function validate_grid(value,id,ind) { $("#result").html(" ").show(); if(ind==1 || ind==2) { var patt=/^([0][0-9]|[1][0-9]|[2][0-3])[:]{1}[0-5][0-9]$/; if(!patt.test(value)) { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:yellow;"); if(err_str!="") err_str+="\n"+(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only.."; else err_str=(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only"; return false; } else { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:white;"); return true; } } } Hi Code: var err_str=""; function validate_grid(value,id,ind) { $("#result").html(" ").show(); if(ind==1 || ind==2) { var patt=/^([0][0-9]|[1][0-9]|[2][0-3])[:]{1}[0-5][0-9]$/; if(!patt.test(value)) { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:yellow;"); if(err_str!="") err_str+="\n"+(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only.."; else err_str=(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only"; return false; } else { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:white;"); return true; } } } alert(err-str); here ind==1 is from_time and ind==2 is to_time,i need to validate time as to_time must be always greater than from-time,if condition fails an alert msg should populate.time format is[05:00]as it is in string format im unable to do the validation for it.(ex:from-time=08:00 to-time=07:59 condition fails) thank you. Hello im using dhtmlx grid in this cells i have from time and to time (i.e ind==1 and ind==2) i need to validate time where to-time must be greater than from-time else it should alert an message,i have writeen a normal Regular expression for the time validation.as the time is i string format i.e[05:00],please can any one send me code for that. Code: var err_str=""; function validate_grid(value,id,ind) { if(ind==1 || ind==2) { var patt=/^([0][0-9]|[1][0-9]|[2][0-3])[:]{1}[0-5][0-9]$/; if(!patt.test(value)) { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:yellow;"); if(err_str!="") err_str+="\n"+(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only.."; else err_str=(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only"; return false; } else { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:white;"); return true; } } } 1 down vote favorite I do have the countdown script (see link below) to display the time between current time and the date given in real-time. However, I want to achieve to display the time difference between a given start and end time. Right now, it calculates from the current server time to the end time. I want to be able to set up my own start time and end time. Here is what I have: http://jsfiddle.net/BgEtE/ thank you for help hi, can some one help me how to get the time and date difference? given two time and date with the following format like in textbox A: 2011-05-03 17:35:47.0 and textbox B: 2011-05-03 16:35:47.0 then the output would be: 0 days, 1 hour, 0 minutes, 0 seconds regards, verve I'm not really a Java writer, so I don't know how to do this myself, though I imagine it would be pretty simple. I am looking to add a script to a webpage that allows users to input a time manually, and have it converted to GMT/Zulu time and display the converted time. I have seen a lot of time zone conversion scripts online, but they all just convert whatever the current system time is to another time zone. I am looking for a script that allows users to convert a time and show the zulu time, for times other than the current time. The time zone the inputed local time would be in is +4:30 (Kabul). I don't really care about style or aestehtics, just a simple script I can insert into a web page to have a time input field. The converted output time can appear in another field, a popup bubble, etc, again style isn't really an issue. It's really just to help people in my job who need to know what the GMT/Zulu time was for certain local times after the fact. One would think it shouldn't be that hard to just subtract 4:30 in your head, but apparently it is. Sorry if just asking for code outright like this is frowned upon. Hi all. I'm having a bit of a problem returning a different value each time a different button is pressed for calculator. What am I doing wrong? Code: <script> function calc(btname){ for(var x=0;x<=11;x++){ if(x==0){ btname="zero"; }else if(x==1){ btname="one"; }else if(x==2){ btname="two"; }else if(x==3){ btname="three"; }else if(x==4){ btname="four"; }else if(x==5){ btname="five"; }else if(x==6){ btname="six"; }else if(x==7){ btname="seven"; }else if(x==8){ btname="eight"; }else if(x==9){ btname="nine"; }else if(x==10){ btname="multiply"; }else if(x==11){ btname="divide"; } if('document.forms.test.'+btname+'.onClick'){ alert(btname); } } } function scalc(){ var sign=""; var btname=""; document.write('<form name="test">'); for(var x=0;x<=11;x++){ if(x==0){ btname="zero"; }else if(x==1){ btname="one"; }else if(x==2){ btname="two"; }else if(x==3){ btname="three"; }else if(x==4){ btname="four"; }else if(x==5){ btname="five"; }else if(x==6){ btname="six"; }else if(x==7){ btname="seven"; }else if(x==8){ btname="eight"; }else if(x==9){ btname="nine"; }else if(x==10){ btname="multiply"; sign = "*"; }else if(x==11){ btname="divide"; sign = "/"; } if(x<10){ document.write('<input type="button" size="30" name="'+btname+'" value="'+x+'" onClick="calc(this);"> '); }else if(x>9 && x<12){ document.write('<input type="button" size="30" name="'+btname+'" value="'+sign+'" onClick="calc(this);"> '); } if(x==2 || x == 5 || x == 8){ document.write('<br>'); } } document.write('</form>'); } scalc(); </script> ANY help is GREATLY appreciated! This is what I have so far, but now I am stuck. My instructor wants the output value (Number Set C) to include Number Set A and Number Set B. For instance, if Number Set A is "10" and you want to add Number Set B whose value is also "10", my instructor wants Number Set C to say "10 + 10 = 20". Where am I going wrong, and what is the easiest way I can make this work while making as little changes as possible? Most of the code is what my instructor requires us to use. The assignment is to create a grade averages calculator as seen in this pictu Along with this starter code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Assignments score calculator</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .score { width: 30px; } --> </style> </head> <body> <h1>Assignments score calculator</h1> <form id="calculator" name="calculator" method="post" action=""> <p>Enter your Name: <label for="firstname"></label> <br /> <input type="text" name="firstname" id="firstname" /> <p> <label for="A1">Assignment #1 sco </label> <input name="A1" type="text" class="score" id="A1" maxlength="3" /><br /> <label for="A2">Assignment #2 sco </label> <input name="A2" type="text" class="score" id="A2" maxlength="3" /><br /> <label for="A3">Assignment #3 sco </label> <input name="A3" type="text" class="score" id="A3" maxlength="3" /> <p> <label for="button"></label> <input type="submit" name="Submit" id="Submit" value="Submit" xx="doCalculation(this.form.firstname.value,this.form.A1.value,this.form.A2.value,this.form.A3.value)" /> </form> </body> </html> I understand what I need to do, just not the syntax to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for newbiness. So after some studying I have a pretty decent method using objects. I built it so that you hit the first number, then you would hit a plus or minus then the second number. The problem is just getting the buttons to define variables and run functions. Quote: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" > x=10; h=1; var numbs = new Const(x) function Const(one){ this.x=one; ADD(this.x) if(h=1){ function ADD(a){ y=5; b=y+a; alert(b); }}} </script> </head> <body> <input type="button" value="1" onclick="needs to run all that AND set x=1 and h=1"> </body> </html> Also I plan on going back and making y, which is the second number you're adding, an object. For now I'm just setting it equal to something so I don't have to mess with it. |
