JavaScript - Calculate Age Based On Dob Field.
I am trying to calculate age based on the date of birth input into a text field.
the date field should allow users to enter a one or two digit month, one or two digit date and a two or four digit year. Users should be able to enter any of the following date formats: 11-2-10, 1-25-2010, or 01/25/2010. On some days it works and others it wont, like 11-1-91 returns that the user is under 18. Code: function checkAge(){ var stDate = document.getElementById("birth").value; var dayPartToDate = parseInt(stDate.substring(0,2),10); var monPartToDate = parseInt(stDate.substring(3,5),10); var yearPartToDate = parseInt(stDate.substring(6,10),10); var dtTo = new Date(yearPartToDate, monPartToDate-1, dayPartToDate); var mydate = new Date(); mydate.setDate(mydate.getDate()); var bday = dtTo - mydate if (bday < 18){ window.alert("You must be 18 to rent equipment."); document.getElementById("birth").value = ""; } } Similar TutorialsHi Experts, I have designed an online registration system for a non profit in ASP/SQL. After the members register for classes they are automatically redirected to an invoice page with class fees. At the bottom of the page I have a Total Fees field of all the classes. The member is supposed to pay this amount to our organization. Question: We decided to do an online payment this year and would like to calculate a 2% additional amount on the Total Fees. This amount is paid to the Payment Merchant site. We cannot afford to lose the 2% since we are a non profit. Would really appreciate if someone can tell me how to 1) Add a new field under the Total field 2) And calculate the 2% additional fees and do a Grand Total. Thanks in advance. I have a text field, call it income, that when the input is > 0 I need to dynamically show the next text box, and if it is blank hide the next text box. I would like to use onBlur but can't seem to get it to work. Can I do this? Help I have two drop down fields. When I select any value in the first drop down i want the second dropdown to automatically populate the value related to the first one. For e.g i have the first field as name and the second field as measured in. If I select 'Potato' in the first dropdown then the second drop down should populate 'kg'. Please help.
Here is what I'm envisioning: The user selects a state, then in the 'Cities' box, he starts typing the name of his city. However, it autocompletes the name for him based on the state he chose. So if he chose California and started typing in "Los Angeles", it would autocomplete "Los Angeles" for him. Does that make sense? Is there a script out there that can do this? Hi, Is there anyone who could help me figure out how to Change a Hidden Fields Name based on selected option. The hidden fields name is sent off and I need to change the name depending on what option they select. For if they select MyList the hidden field name needs to be SelectLists[40] or if they select testlist the hidden field name needs to be SelectLists[41]. This is probably way, way off but I've done this and it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. <script language="JavaScript"> function changelist() { //here we assign the value of the hidden input to x x=eval(document.getElementByName("SelectLists[40]"); if(document.getElementById("SelectLists[40]").selected=true x=SelectLists[40] else(document.getElementById("SelectLists[41]").selected=true x=SelectLists[41] else(document.getElementById("SelectLists[42]").selected=true x=SelectLists[42] //now we assign the new value to the input document.getElementById("theHiddenInput").name=x; //and now we test alert(document.getElementById("theHiddenInput").name) } </script> <input type="hidden" id="theHiddenInput" name="SelectLists[40]" value="Yes"> <select class="inpBox" style="width: 287px" name='mailinglist' id="lists" onchange="changelist()"> <option value="SelectLists[40]" name="SelectLists[40]" id="SelectLists[40]">MyList</option> <option value="SelectLists[41]" name="SelectLists[41]" id="SelectLists[41]">testlist</option> <option value="SelectLists[42]" name="SelectLists[42]" id="SelectLists[42]">testlist2</option> Hi All, I have a form that captures member registration details. In the admin section .. I would like to change the Status field of a record/s from NEW to PAYMENT DUE after 14 days from the data of submission. Thanks in advance. Vinny Hi Guys, i am wondering if there is a way to have an auto Complete form field from a db table data ? thanks I have a form that has a pretty complicated combo box - a user starts typing text, it queries a database for matches, and displays the results to the user. The user can then select the match they desire and it has a value id, which I am currently sending to a hidden field in the form. So, for example: user starts typing in a movie name, Seven - it returns Seven and user selects it. The form submits the id of the movie seven (say 12) to a hidden field. Where I am stumped: Once a user selects a movie title, I have another drop down select box that is to display the available formats of the movie by querying my database based on the product id (12) and returning the available formats in the list: DVD BLUERAY VHS I am pretty good at programming, but I cannot figure this out - how to make the select box fire and return results once the value for the textbox has been captured. Can anyone help me? For various reasons, I need the value of my drop down box options to contain size information rather than price. However I would like to be able to calculate a price for the items based on what size the user selects as well as the quantity. Below is the code I came up with (which doesn't work obviously) What can I do to get this to work for me? Thanks in advance for any help! Code: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function calc(A,B,SUM) { var price = document.getElementById(A).extrainfo; var quantity = document.getElementById(B).value; document.getElementById(SUM).value = price * quantity; } //--> </script> </head> <body> <label>T-Shirt: <select name="T_SHIRT" id="T_SHIRT" onchange="calc('T_SHIRT','Tshirt_QTY','total');"> <option selected="selected">CHOOSE A SIZE </option> <option value="SIZE: SMALL" extrainfo="10.99">Small, 34/36 (S) </option> <option value="SIZE: MEDIUM" extrainfo="11.99">Medium, 38/40 (M) </option> <option value="SIZE LARGE" extrainfo="12.99">Large, 42/44 (L) </option> </select> </label> <label>QTY: <input type="text" id="Tshirt_QTY" name="Tshirt_QTY" onchange="calc('T_SHIRT','Tshirt_QTY','total')" /> </label> <label>Price: <input type="text" readonly="readonly" name="total" id="total"/> </label> </body> Hi Guys, Im in need of some help with regards to forms. I am looking to build as basic as possible, a form that has 3 select dropdowns that have predetermined options. The user will select the first option and based on that option the second will populate and based on that, the third one will give the last option. Now, when the last one is selected, i need a div or a paragraph displaying information to be displayed. So here's the framework. Option 1 = fruit or vegitables of which fruit is selected is selected by the user Option 2 = Apples, Grapes, and pears of which apples is then selected Option 3 = Red, Green and Yellow of which Green is selected. Once green is selected, I need a description about the green aple to be displayed. Can anyone help me out on this? I am not sure where to begin and my boss is adament it must be done like yesterday. Ay help will be appreciated. Thanks. I am having trouble writing this javascript for my work, normally I would do this in ASP or PHP, but the environment I am working with will only allow javascript for dynamic function. The form has two different select boxes and based on your options selected for select box #1 and select box #2, the hidden input field "redirect" (which is currently empty) would then populate dynamically with the URL associated with that combination mentioned below. The hidden redirect input field (now containing dyanmically generated data) would then pass the new value via HTTP_POST to .net script that will handle the redirect processing step fed to it. I am working on a convention registration form. What I'm trying to do is have the text "50.00" pop into the COST field when any text (even if it's only one character) is entered into the NAME field. If the text in the NAME field is deleted, the "50.00" should also be deleted. Does anyone have a script that does this? Thanks! hiiii, im new to javascripts . Can anyone help me to know that a javascript which is validating a phone number accepts only digits but if the text field is left empty it should accept the entry as an empty entry.... plz share knowledge u will be more knowledgeable Hi folks. Looking to see if anyone could tell me where I'm going wrong with this script... I'm trying to have a field automatically filled with the day of the week ("Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday" and so on), upon the user selecting a date from the datepicker jQuery. If this isn't clear, I'll clarify further down the page. Here is the script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($){ $('input[name="item_meta[428]"]').change(function(){ var d = $('input[name="item_meta[428]"]').val(); var n = new Date(d).getDay(); if(n == 0) val v = 'Sunday'; else if(n == 1) val v = 'Monday'; else if(n == 2) val v = 'Tuesday'; else if(n == 3) val v = 'Wednesday'; else if(n == 4) val v = 'Thursday'; else if(n == 5) val v = 'Friday'; else if(n == 6) val v = 'Saturday'; $('input[name="item_meta[429]"]').val(v).change(); }); }); </script> I'm basically trying to say, if the user selected today (15/05/2012) in the field 428 it would fill the field 429 with "Tuesday". Again, if the user selected 18/05/2012 in the field 428 then it would automatically fill field 429 with "Friday". It's being done to work in conjunction with a wordpress plugin called Formidable Pro hence the item_meta[428] etc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I've tested onChange, and it will work only when I have changed to a new field or clicked off that field. How do I make this calculate live? So if the current value is 5 and I change it to 6, it will automatically recalculate the new value. You can see what I'm working on he http://sheetmusichaven.com/admin/mys...calculator.php Note: The one I'm testing is the 1st Level field. For now i'm just having it display the date. I want to do a calculation between selectbox values. The problem with my code is that the first part of the calculation only gives me 0, which Motherboard value*quantity. the second part works fine which Chassis*quantity. My formulas is motherbord*Quanity+chassis*quantity. Code: function calculate() { var parsedMotherboard = parseFloat(document.calcform.Motherboard.value || 0); var parsedQuantity = parseFloat(document.calcform.Quantity.value || 0); var parsedChassis = parseFloat(document.calcform.Chassis.value || 0); var parsedQuantity1 = parseFloat(document.calcform.Quantity1.value ||0); document.calcform.total.value = (parsedMotherboard * parsedQuantity + parsedChassis * parsedQuantity1); } PHP Code: echo "<tr><td align='left' width='90%'>"; $result = mysql_query("SELECT Motherboard_Part_Number, Motherboard_Name, Motherboard_Price FROM Motherboard ") or die(mysql_error()); echo '<select id="Motherboard" class="SelectClass" name="Motherboard" ONCHANGE="calculate()">'; // keeps getting the next row until there are no more to get while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result )) { // Print out the contents of each row into a table echo '<option Name="Motherboard" value= ',$row['Motherboard_Price'],'>',$row['Motherboard_Part_Number'],' ',$row['Motherboard_Name'],' $',$row['Motherboard_Price'],' ','</option>'; } echo '</select>'; echo "</td>"; echo "<td align='right' width='10%'>"; $result= mysql_query("SELECT Number FROM Quantity") or die(mysql_error()); echo '<select id="Quantity" class="SelectClass" name="Quantity" Value="Quantity" ONCHANGE="calculate()" >'; // keeps getting the next row until there are no more to get while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result)) { // Print out the contents of each row into a table echo '<option value=',$row['Number'],'>',$row['Number'],'</option>'; } echo '</select>'; echo "</td></tr>"; echo "<tr><td align='left' width='90%'>"; $result = mysql_query("SELECT Chassis_Part_Number, Chassis_Name, Chassis_Price FROM Chassis where Chassis_Form_Factor='ATX'") or die(mysql_error()); echo '<select id="Chassis" class="SelectClass" name="Chassis" ONCHANGE="calculate()">'; // keeps getting the next row until there are no more to get while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result )) { // Print out the contents of each row into a table echo '<option Name="Chassis" value= ',$row['Chassis_Price'],'>',$row['Chassis_Part_Number'],' ',$row['Chassis_Name'],' $',$row['Chassis_Price'],' ','</option>'; } echo '</select>'; echo "</td>"; echo "<td align='right' width='10%'>"; $result= mysql_query("SELECT Number FROM Quantity") or die(mysql_error()); echo '<select id="Quantity" class="SelectClass" name="Quantity1" Value="Quantity" ONCHANGE="calculate()" >'; // keeps getting the next row until there are no more to get while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result)) { // Print out the contents of each row into a table echo '<option value=',$row['Number'],'>',$row['Number'],'</option>'; } echo '</select>'; echo "</td></tr>"; Hi there, I'm new here in this forum and I've registered to ask a question about JavaScript or Jquery. I don't know which to use. I have my code php like that: <?php //Get the data from system and return in EU format function ShowDate() { $Date = date("d"."/"."m"."/"."Y"); return $Date; } //Get the time from system function ShowTime() { $Time = date("H".":"."i"); return $Time; } ?> Now I have two input box <html> <head> </head> <body> Type the date:<input name="txtdate" type="text" class="input" id="txtdate" title="e.g dd/mm/yyyy" value="<?php echo ShowDate(); ?>" size="9" maxlength="10"> <br> Type the time:<input name="txttime" type="text" id="txttime" value="<?php echo ShowTime(); ?>" size="5" maxlength="5"> <br> London: Friday May 21 2010 05:12:00 <br> New York: Friday May 21 2010 00:12:00<br> Hong Kong: Friday May 21 2010 12:12:00<br> Tokyo: Friday May 21 2010 13:12:00<br> </body> </html> So.... the important is the user can interactive with the date. If I change the date or time all this values will be change as well. Someone knows how can I do this? The field txtdate I will get from a calendar plugin (javascript) that I already put in my code.
