I have a three textboxes in a form. Using OnBlur, I am attempting to call a function to add one to an input textbox to add 1 to the cost. As the user enters text into textbox01, the number 1 appears in the input box about cost, as the user enters text into textbox02, the input box displays 2 and the user enters text into textbox03, the input box displays 3. My JavaScript is as follows: <script type="text/javascript"> //copies contents of first textbox to second textbox function copyValue() { var textbox1 = document.getElementById("textbox1"); var textbox2 = document.getElementById("textbox2"); var textbox3 = document.getElementById("textbox3"); var txtAttendee = document.getElementById("txtAttendee"); var input_A = document.getElementById("input_A"); textbox2.value = textbox1.value; txtAttendee.value = 1; input_A.value = 1; } </script> In the form I have this: <input type="text" id="textbox3" style="background-color:yellow" onblur="copyValue();" /> I would greatly appreciate ANY help with being able to calculate costs, perhaps using the JavaScript ++/-- operators. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. hi, i am using <input type = "file" id = "upload"> in my html page. i want to disable the textbox of this control so that user cannot type any file location here. user can upload file only through browse button. is there a way to disable this textbox thru javascript? thnx Hi! I am quite new to the world of JavaScript as I have done basic corse for it... and I have learnt that best way to understand it is to play around with it... but now I am stuck with on of the problem!! Problem: How can we assign text box input values by user to a variable and display that variable back on another element of the same HTML document(dynamically)... Conditions: The value has to be stored as a JavaScript variable only. No server-side script is to be used and has to be done locally. Please help! Hi.. I just want to know how does it happen that when I scan the barcode using barcode scanner it will automatically put on the first textbox, then the focus will go to the next textbox and on the last textbox will automatically save the data to database. here is my sample form. I've been teaching myself HTML and CSS for a while, and now I've moved into the world of Javascript (but I'm still very much a beginner). For practice, I've been building a sample sign up form for a mock website, and I'm having problems with the birthdate section. The idea I had was to have MM, DD, and YYYY be the default values of my 3 textboxes (as an example for users), then set the value to nothing when the box gained focus. That all works fine, but I ran into problems when I tried to write an if statement to set the value back to MM, DD, or YYYY if the value was still nothing when the user clicked away. As it is now it just replaces the text inputted into the textbox (which of course is not good). Any ideas for what the problem might be? Code: <form name="signup" action="javascript:void(0);" method="post"> <table> <tr> <td>Date Of Birth:</td> <td> <input name="DOBmonth" type="text" value="MM" size="2" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOBmonth()" onBlur="restoreDOBmonth()" /> <input name="DOBday" type="text" value="DD" size="2" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOBday()" /> <input name="DOByear" type="text" value="YYYY" size="4" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOByear()" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><button name="Submit" type="submit" style="font-size: 1em;">Sign Up</button></td> </tr> </table> </form> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> <!-- document.signup.DOBmonth.value="MM"; document.signup.DOBday.value="DD"; document.signup.DOByear.value="YYYY"; function clearDOBmonth() { document.signup.DOBmonth.value="";} function clearDOBday() { document.signup.DOBday.value="";} function clearDOByear() { document.signup.DOByear.value="";} function restoreDOBmonth() { if ('document.signup.DOBmonth.value = ""') { document.signup.DOBmonth.value = "MM"; // alert(document.signup.DOBmonth.value); } } //--> </script> Another side question, if I set a variable equal to the value of a textbox, then change the value of the variable, does that also change the value of the textbox? or is the variable no longer associated with the textbox. Example: Code: var a = document.form.textbox.value; a = blue; does document.form.textbox.value = blue? or is var a now completely independent of the textbox value? Thanks! This is probably a really simple question. Is it possible to initialize x amount of variables. Like someone enters 10 into an input box and it makes 10 variables called variable1, variable2, variable3, etc. How would you name them? variable + num = 0; ? Thanks! So if I have three dollar amounts like .... a = 1,222.00; b = 1,323.00; c = ; d = 1,222.00; How can I alert the highest variable even though there may be 1 or more of them? Hi, i followed a tutorial online on how to use Javascript to calculate total price. Everything works fine, when all the dropdown select value has it's own value and does not correspond to each other. Eg : Cake Type : Round $4.00 Cake Color : Red $3.00 Cake Filling : Raspberry $4.00 So total is $11.00 The problem comes when you want to add Cake Layers and the price of Cake Color changes based on No of Layers - 1 Layer , 2 Layer and so on. Eg: Cake Layer : Layer 1 $5.00 | Layer 2 $2.50 | Layer 3 $2.50 (for color Orange) Cake Layer : Layer 1 $7.00 | Layer 2 $4.00 | Layer 3 $4.00 (for color Red) Do i have to use if and else conditional statement for every possibility? I am just a beginner. Attached below is the example code i have so far.. Code: var filling_prices= new Array(); filling_prices["None"]=0; filling_prices["Lemon"]=5; filling_prices["Custard"]=5; filling_prices["Fudge"]=7; filling_prices["Mocha"]=8; filling_prices["Raspberry"]=10; function getFillingPrice() { var cakeFillingPrice=0; //Get a reference to the form id="cakeform" var theForm = document.forms["cakeform"]; //Get a reference to the select id="filling" var selectedFilling = theForm.elements["filling"]; //set cakeFilling Price equal to value user chose //For example filling_prices["Lemon".value] would be equal to 5 cakeFillingPrice = filling_prices[selectedFilling.value]; //finally we return cakeFillingPrice return cakeFillingPrice; } This is for the calculation Code: function calculateTotal() { //Here we get the total price by calling our function //Each function returns a number so by calling them we add the values they return together var cakePrice = getCakeSizePrice() + getFillingPrice() + candlesPrice(); //display the result var divobj = document.getElementById('totalPrice'); divobj.style.display='block'; divobj.innerHTML = "Total Price For the Cake $"+cakePrice; } Some sample of the HTML Code: <select id="filling" name='filling' onchange="calculateTotal()"> <option value="None">Select Filling</option> <option value="Lemon">Lemon($5)</option> <option value="Custard">Custard($5)</option> <option value="Fudge">Fudge($7)</option> <option value="Mocha">Mocha($8)</option> <option value="Raspberry">Raspberry($10)</option> Is there a better way of simplifying this calculation method ? How do i change the price of form values based on selected values on previous dropdown. Thanks in advance. Hey guys. So I've been learning PHP and MySQLi for the past few weeks and it's going brilliantly! I intend to start learning JS over the Xmas holidays, but right now I only have a very basic knowledge of it. I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to do this, as I think i should be pretty easy. After someone changes something in the admin area [e.g. the position of an item] I want to be able to have a small div display at the top of the screen saying something like "Position Updated!" and then have it fade away after 2-3 seconds. Just wondering if there's a fairly easy way to do this, or would I have to go get something like MooTools, etc.? Thanks a lot! I have a text field. I want the text field to change / be calculated on the action made on the dropdown menu... So if I select Debit card.. it should leave the amount as is.. If I selected Credit Card it should add a percentage to the Amount. Please dont just provide a solutoin.. but please explain as i would love to understand why Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function doMath() { if (CardType = "cc") { var one = eval(document.myForm.Amount.value) var prod = one * 1.03 document.myForm.Amount.value=custRound(prod,2);} } else document.myForm.Amount.value; function custRound(x,places) { return (Math.round(x*Math.pow(10,places)))/Math.pow(10,places) } </script> </head> <body> <form id="myForm" name="myForm" method="post" action=""> <input name="Amount" type="text" id="Amount" v alue="100" /> <select id="CardType" name="CardType" onchange="doMath();" > <option value="" selected="selected">Please Select</option> <option value="dc">Debit Card</option> <option value="cc">Credit Card</option> </select> </form> </body> </html> Hi, I am thinking of how to write the code for this: There are 4 textboxes, 3 of which allow you to enter any number (e.g. 1000, 2500, 12345, 100.10, etc.). So whenever I entered a number in one of them (or two or all of them), the 4th read-only textbox will automatically shows the total of the values in the 3 textboxes. So...can anyone give me any references to this? Thanks. hi i have following code Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <!--<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="51;url=quiz2action.php" />--> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div id = "time"></div> <script type = "text/javascript"> } function display(secs) { if (secs <= 0) { alert("Your time is up!"); return; } secs--; document.getElementById("time").innerHTML = "You have " + Math.floor(secs/60) + ":" + (secs % 60 < 10 ? Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> /* Converts given centigrade in one text box to farenheit in another */ function convert1 () { document.getElementById("output").value = document.getElementById("input").value*1.8+32; } </script> </head> <body> <p>Then enter the input and view the output</p> <input type="text" size="15" id="input"> <input type="button" value=" ==> " onclick="convert1()"> <input type="text" size="15" id="output"> </body> </html> I don't know how to approach this so I tried different things.... Code: tml> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> /* Converts given centigrade in one text box to farenheit in another */ function convert1 () { document.getElementById("output").value = document.getElementById("input").value*1.8+32; } function counter() { if (function convert1().onclick==true) {count++;} } </script> </head> <body> <p>Then enter the input and view the output</p> <input type="text" size="15" id="input"> <input type="button" value=" ==> " onclick="convert1()"> <input type="text" size="15" id="output"> </body> </html> but then I did some research and it said I couldn't do that.... so I tried this: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> /* Converts given centigrade in one text box to farenheit in another */ var count=0; function documentClick() { document.getElementById('clicked').value = ++clickCount } document.onclick = documentClick; function convert1 () { document.getElementById("output").value = document.getElementById("input").value*1.8+32; } </script> </head> <body> <p>Then enter the input and view the output</p> <input type="text" size="15" id="input"> <input type="button" value=" ==> " onclick="convert1()"> <input type="text" size="15" id="output"> </body> </html> I think this last code is correct, the problem I have now is that I don't know how to call it to just display as text under the buttons and conversions. I'm looking for some way to display it like ("you have made"+ count+ "conversions");. No boxes or buttons, just text and I don't know how to call for this after the </script>, inside the body. I am new at all this and would appreciate any help. Thanks. It should look like this. Beginner JavaScripter here. I'm wanting to run a piece of code (add rows) a specified amount of times based upon the number selected. Also, rows can be added after initial number has been specified. Example: User1 selects 2 -> 2 rows are added User1 goes back and selects 3 -> 1 row is added, making 3 rows total I've tried the following, but it seems to not take into account the number of rows already added. Any help is appreciated. Code: if (numSelected > 0) { var counter = 0; while (rowsAdded < numSelected ) { function.addRow(); counter++; } } |
