JavaScript - Auto Submit Form Outside Of Frame
Hi i have a form inside a frame, for example:
<html> PHP Code: <body> <div><h1>Header</h1><hr /></div> <iframe height="75%" width="75%" src="iframe.php" frameborder="0"> Iframe should be enabled. </iframe> <div><hr /><h1>Footer</h1></div> </body></html> in iframe.php PHP Code: <form action="http://some-url" id="my_form" name="my_form" method="POST"> <!-- hidden fields goes here ---> <input id="<?php echo $key; ?>" name="<?php echo $key; ?>" value="<?php echo $value; ?>" type="hidden"/> <!-- //hidden fields goes here ---> </form> <script type="text/javascript">document.getElementById("my_form").submit();</script> I would like to know how to submit the iframe.php form so that it goes out of frame. I think we need to tweak this code: PHP Code: <script type="text/javascript">document.getElementById("my_form").submit();</script> Thanks in advance. Similar TutorialsOk - I'm using an 'off the peg' shopping cart (Mal's e-commerce) that posts items to the cart using a standard form with a submit button. What I want to do is send an item to the cart 'automatically', that is without the user actually filling a form or pressing a 'submit' button. What I send to the cart will be dependant upon the value of a cookie that will have been set at some earlier point in the session. My plan was to use document.write statements to build the 'form' and send it to the shopping cart... Here is the kind of form i will be creating: <form method="post" /> <input type="hidden" name="product" value="XXXXXXXX" /> <input type="hidden" name="price" value="0.00" /> <input type="hidden" name="qty" value="1" /> <input type="submit" value="add to basket" /> </form> 1) 1st problem the product value "XXXXXXXX" actually needs to be 'constructed' out of text plus the value held in the cookie eg... 'here is your COOKIEVALUE product' what i was going to try here was "here is your" + COOKIEVALUE + "product" which doesn't work - but that's what I'm trying to achieve. 2) 2nd problem is the submit 'button' needs to be an automatic 'invisible' action - i don't actually want to give them a button to click i just want to submit it from the coding. Hope that makes some kind of sense! I am trying to write a javascript page where the primary form of user input is an HTML form (shown below) Code: <form id=UI> State: <input type="text" name="state" > Postal abriviation: <input type="text" name="ab"> Capital: <input type="text" name="cap"> <input type="button" name="answer" value="Answer" onClick="check()"> <br> <input type="button" name="show_name" value="Show State" onClick="hint=1;select_state();"> <br> <input type="button" name="show_ab" value="Show Abriviation" onClick="hint=2;select_state();"> <br> <input type="button" name="show_cap" value="Show Capitol" onClick="hint=3;select_state();"> </form> the button named 'answer' does what i want, but when the user pushes enter, if he is in one of the form fields it automatically sends him to the url with all of the form date (www.url.com?state=maryland&ab=md&cap=annapolis) i modified my body tag to run the 'check()' function when enter is pushed, which it does but immideatly sends me to the following url Code: <body onload="first_run()" onkeydown="if (event.keyCode == 13){check()}"> is their any way to disable to the submit built into the form tag either through HTML or javascript? My html form code is <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="2.js"></script> </head> <body> <h1 id="remain"></h1> <form action="3.php" method="post" id="form1" name="form1"> <input type="text" name="id"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> </form> </body> </html> I need to submit the form after coundown.Here is my countdown script file window.onload=counter; function counter() { var seconds = 5; countDown(); function countDown() { document.getElementById("remain").innerHTML=seconds; if(seconds>0) { seconds=seconds - 1; setTimeout(countDown,1000); } if(seconds == 0) { document.form1.submit(); } } } Countdown is working but form does not submit after countdown.Please help me regarding this.Thanks in advance Hi, I have a body onload doing multiple things, changing a select option value, changing the form submit action and then auto submitting. Everything works fine until the auto submit part of it. Code: function run() { document.myform.myselect.selectedIndex = 1; document.myform.action = 'page.php?x=1&y=2'; document.myform.submit(); } <body onload="run()"> Thanks for any help with this he everyone please i want to know how to submit a form using ajax every 5 minutes without reloading page i have a huge form for exams and i need to submit the form without the need to wait until pressing submit because the user may wait to think about the answer a very long time.. so i want to submit the form and at the same time i cant reload the page as it is in normal submit form.. so how i can submit form in the background without letting the user knows that the form is submitted??? Hey helpful people. I'm looking for a better solution to refreshing a page of mine, which currently single page (no frames) using meta refresh. To convert it something where it (using frames) would either: a. keep trying to refresh untill a var is recieved from the content, or b. present the browser with a button to refresh and a message that loading failed. But honestly i am a noob at javascript, to an extend i dont have much idea where to start on such a project. but learned this is not possible with regular html that is widely supported anyways. i suspect the:.. window.xx.location='url' ..is useful in this regard, but other than that i am blank on where to start. Any help is appresiated. Thanks in advance Jilli i need a function that count down until zero. how could i make it auto submit which is very important for me and accepts the choices which are as radio buttons instead of waiting for users to push submit button.
Hi all, I'm designing something to addon to an existing product. I'm struggling with some javascript problems. I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage. Is this possible? Thanks I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes. I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return. html form: Code: <form id="f1" name="form1" onsubmit="validate_form(this); return false;" action="register" method="post"> <table cellspacing="5" style="border: 2px solid black;"> <tr> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td>*First name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_one"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="fn" name="fn" onBlur="validate_one();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Last name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_two"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ln" name="ln" onBlur="validate_two();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Email address</td> <td align="right"><span id="result"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="mailfield" name="email" onBlur="startRequest();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Phone number</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_three"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="pn" name="pn" onBlur="validate_three();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*City/Town</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_four"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="c" name="c" onBlur="validate_four();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td> <select name="s"> <option value="AL">Alabama <option value="AK">Alaska <option value="AZ">Arizona <option value="AR">Arkansas <option value="CA">California <option value="CO">Colorado <option value="CT">Connecticut <option value="DE">Delaware <option value="FL">Florida <option value="GA">Georgia <option value="HI">Hawaii <option value="ID">Idaho <option value="IL">Illinois <option value="IN">Indiana <option value="IA">Iowa <option value="KS">Kansas <option value="KY">Kentucky <option value="LA">Louisiana <option value="ME">Maine <option value="MD">Maryland <option value="MA">Massachusetts <option value="MI">Michigan <option value="MN">Minnesota <option value="MS">Mississippi <option value="MO">Missouri <option value="MT">Montana <option value="NE">Nebraska <option value="NV">Nevada <option value="NH">New Hampshire <option value="NJ">New Jersey <option value="NM">New Mexico <option value="NY">New York <option value="MC">North Carolina <option value="ND">North Dakota <option value="OH">Ohio <option value="OK">Oklahoma <option value="OR">Oregon <option value="PA">Pennsylvania <option value="RI">Rhode Island <option value="SC">South Carolina <option value="SD">South Dakota <option value="TN">Tennessee <option value="TX">Texas <option value="UT">Utah <option value="VT">Vermont <option value="VA">Virginia <option value="WA">Washington <option value="WV">West Virginia <option value="WI">Wisconsin <option value="WY">Wyoming </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br> </td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><span id="error"></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top">*Anti-Spam Verification</td> <td></td> <td id="reCaptcha"></td> </tr> </table> </td> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td align="left">*Affiliation</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_five"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="affl" name="affl" onBlur="validate_five();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Research Area:</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_six"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ra" name="ra" onBlur="validate_six();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" align="left">*Research Overview</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_seven"></span></td> <td><textarea cols="38" rows="6" id="ro" name="ro" onKeyDown="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onKeyUp="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onBlur="validate_seven();"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><font size="1">You have <input readonly type="text" name="countdown" size="1" value="500"> characters remaining.</font></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Talk Availability</td> <td></td> <td> <input type="radio" name="ta" value="In person">In person <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Online">Online <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Both" checked>Both </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top">Links</td> <td></td> <td> <table id="linkTable" border="0"> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" name="link"></td> <td><div id="result"></div></td> </table> </td> <td align="left" valign="top"><input type="button" value="Add Link" onclick="addLink('linkTable')"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><span style="color: red;"></span></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> <br /> <input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Form"> </form> Javascript file: Code: /* * script.js - ajax and table functions */ var xmlHttp; I was trying to experiment with the archived "jQuery Contact form for your website" tutorial from web devlopment blog . com. (I didnt want to post a link to it as I dont want to possibly flag the moderators) Any Ideas? Go to http://whitetailfantasies.com to see the layout and what I am going for. Thanks Hi. I have a question about java script code. I'm creating a website with frames. Within the main page frame, there are tables in the main content page. When I created the website, it fit perfectly in the browser window of my smaller laptop. I just checked it out on my old G5 and the images/pages are too big and either cut off or scroll bars appear (which is not what I want) So I wanted to know what code I put in my files and where to put it? Also, what pages does it need to be in? the main frame index page? the specific pages that fit within the frames? some are images that load in the frames? would i need to create an .html for those and then have the .jpg load so that it can be resized? I need the main page to be resized to fit the browser as well as the pages in the frames to fit. Can you help? Thanks I' am trying to do a frame by frame animation, lik an animated gif. I am using svg (vector graphics) and IE9 has native support for svg. The code functions in every other browser but IE9 plays the animation once then nothing. If you would like to try and not have svg files you can use whatever gif,jpg or png just put an img-tag where i have embed. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Animation</title> <style type="text/css"> /*One div per image all uses this class*/ .eyesPos { position:absolute; width:80px; height:50px; z-index:1; left: 0px; top: 0px; } #eye_wrapper{/*This is a master div for easy placement of the others*/ position:absolute; width:80px; height:50px; z-index:2; left: 275px; top: 200px; } </style> <script> var eyes=["a","b","c","d"];//Image id in this array var startAnim=setInterval(visaOga,100);//Animation speed function visaOga(){ document.getElementById(eyes.splice(0,1)).style.display="block"; if(eyes.length==0){ document.getElementById("a").style.display="none"; document.getElementById("b").style.display="none"; document.getElementById("c").style.display="none"; dBort = function(){ document.getElementById("d").style.display="none"; eyes=["a","b","c","d"]; } setTimeout(dBort,1500);//So last image is shown 1.5 sec return;//Aborts - dBort -. Sequence can start over if(document.getElementById("d").style.display=="none"){ startAnim;//Strts sequence if last image invisible } } } </script> </head> <body> <!--Images in own div invisible at start--> <div id="eye_wrapper"> <div class="eyesPos" id="a" style= display:none;> <embed src="0.svg" width="80" height="50" /> </div> <div class="eyesPos" id="b" style= display:none;> <embed src="1.svg" width="80" height="50" /> </div> <div class="eyesPos" id="c" style= display:none;> <embed src="2.svg" width="80" height="50" /> </div> <div class="eyesPos" id="d" style= display:none;> <embed src="3.svg" width="80" height="50" /> </div> </div> </body> </html> I have two slightly different forms on the same page, but I want the values in form1 to auto populate the same form fields in form2. 1 field is a text field, the rest are drop down menus. How would I accomplish this? Link to tutorial would be much appreciated. Thanks
guys help pls.. i need to pass the data in the textfields from the left frame to the textfields in the right frame of my frameset. (ex: dslnum of frame1 will be pass to txtDSLTN of frame2) frame1: http://www.mediafire.com/?hge1ws29mdhmu7e frame2: http://www.mediafire.com/?k83cb64wbpskw97 thanks in advance! What I am looking to do is auto-populate a number of forms based on what a user chooses as a starting date. For example: If a user enters 12/12/2009 I want the other fields to automatically populate with the next 2 weeks (12/13/2009, 12/14/2009, 12/15/2009 etc.) Anyone have a useful script that I can use given that these fields are formatted as dates? The idea is to save time by only having to fill in the first date in the timesheet. Hello guys (and girls) I am messing with this whole day, 'cos I wanted to try and figure this out by myself instead of going on forums. I failed, as you may see. So, to cut it short: I needed to calculate my prices on-the-fly and display it in textbox with javascript. Well I did succeed with values of radio button an checbox, but as i know very little javascript, I don't know how to expand the code i got from he http://javascript.internet.com/forms...e-refresh.html So what I would LOVE to know, is how can I make this happen: I have a textbox: Code: <input type="text" name="podstranice" size="19" class="podstr" onkeyup="this.form.total.value=calculateTotal(this);"> and when a user inputs a number in it, javascript multiplies it with some other number, say 10 (its a price*quantity thing) and adds it to the total price along with data from checkboxes and radio buttons. And so, this is my javascript. It is basically identical to one on the link, but you can view it better this way I think. Code: // Calculate the total for items in the form which are selected. function calculateTotal(inputItem) { with (inputItem.form) { // Process each of the different input types in the form. if (inputItem.type == "radio") { // Process radio buttons. // Subtract the previously selected radio button value from the total. calculatedTotal.value = eval(calculatedTotal.value) - eval(previouslySelectedRadioButton.value); // Save the current radio selection value. previouslySelectedRadioButton.value = eval(inputItem.value); // Add the current radio button selection value to the total. calculatedTotal.value = eval(calculatedTotal.value) + eval(inputItem.value); } else { // Process check boxes. if (inputItem.checked == false) { // Item was uncheck. Subtract item value from total. calculatedTotal.value = eval(calculatedTotal.value) - eval(inputItem.value); } else { // Item was checked. Add the item value to the total. calculatedTotal.value = eval(calculatedTotal.value) + eval(inputItem.value); } } elseif // Total value should never be less than 0. if (calculatedTotal.value < 0) { InitForm(); } // Return total value. return(formatCurrency(calculatedTotal.value)); } } // Format a value as currency. function formatCurrency(num) { num = num.toString().replace(/\$|\,/g,''); if(isNaN(num)) num = "0"; sign = (num == (num = Math.abs(num))); num = Math.floor(num*100+0.50000000001); cents = num%100; num = Math.floor(num/100).toString(); if(cents<10) cents = "0" + cents; for (var i = 0; i < Math.floor((num.length-(1+i))/3); i++) num = num.substring(0,num.length-(4*i+3)) + ',' + num.substring(num.length-(4*i+3)); return (((sign)?'':'-') + num + '.' + cents + ' kn'); } // This function initialzes all the form elements to default values. function InitForm() { // Reset values on form. document.selectionForm.total.value='$0'; document.selectionForm.calculatedTotal.value=0; document.selectionForm.previouslySelectedRadioButton.value=0; // Set all checkboxes and radio buttons on form to unchecked. for (i=0; i < document.selectionForm.elements.length; i++) { if (document.selectionForm.elements[i].type == 'checkbox' | document.selectionForm.elements[i].type == 'radio') { document.selectionForm.elements[i].checked = false; } } } I don't want to overspam my post with more code, so I hope this is all you need, at least for now. THANK YOU very much in advance. Hello All, I have a form where the number of input fields (lets call them B through N) is determined by the length of a php array. Above those input fields is another field (lets call this field input A) that I would like to be auto populated based on what the user enters in fields B through N. Here is my code. The first table (with all of the "totals" fields) holds all of the input fields that I would like to auto update. These fields should auto update so that every input in EACH of the "fy" fields in the second table is added together. Example: every input in the id="fy_{$fy.fy}_high_impact_cost" field should be added together as the user enters them, and the id="totals_high_impact_cost" field should be auto updated with that total. What we are trying to do is have a form where customers can use a conditional logic based form that upon submission will redirect to checkout with an appropriate product bundle being populated in the shopping cart. I have some experience with creating forms, in fact I have made a decent form that I have modified from an online form builder... the problem is I have no idea how to auto-fill the shopping cart... period. From what I have read in my research this should be a function of Javascript. I have a decent working knowledge of php, and html, but I am pretty clueless when it comes to Javascript, if anyone could point me in the right direction for this project I would really appreciate it. I have a page called answersheet.html which I am popping up using a function called NewWindow; Code: <a href="javascript:myVoid()" onclick="NewWindow('/images/101online/practicetest1/listensubtest1/answersheet.html','PopUp','625','400','no',''); return true;"> It works fine. answersheet.html consists of two frames, the top frame containing a button with onclick="myprint()" to print out the bottom frame: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function myprint() { window.parent.bottom.focus(); window.print(); } </script> It does the job in Internet Explorer, but Firefox and Chrome only print the top frame with the print button! Is the function myprint() IE only coding? If so, what should I use? Hi there, Our development team created a page using JS to submit a form. It works fine in IE6... but not in IE8 nor FF3. They can't seem to detect why, so I'm posting this in the hopes that someone will be able to let me know... so that I can tell them. Man! Here is the code that they use: Code: function doSubmit() { var form = document.RegistrationForm; form.actionType.value = "userInfo"; form.action = "/fdl/benefitsmanager/registration/UserInfoSubmit.do"; var prefix = document.getElementById('userInfo.prefix')[document.getElementById('userInfo.prefix').selectedIndex].text; var suffix = document.getElementById('userInfo.suffix')[document.getElementById('userInfo.suffix').selectedIndex].text; document.getElementById('userInfo.prefixString').value = prefix; document.getElementById('userInfo.suffixString').value = suffix; form.submit(); } It's called by clicking the below image: Code: <a href="javascript:doSubmit();"><img src="../images/buttons/submit.gif" alt="Submit" width="108" height="23" border="0"></a> The above code works fine in IE6 and lets the user submit the form. However, in FF3 nothing happens when the image is clicked and I get the following error using Firebug: document.getElementById("userInfo.prefix") is null var prefix = document.getElementById(...rInfo.prefix').selectedIndex].text; And in IE8 nothing happens when the image is clicked and it just tells me that there is an error. I don't have access to the code, so I can't play around with manipulating the JS. Darn! However, can anyone see what might be causing the error in modern browsers? I'm a bit surprised it's IE8 and FF3 that are having issues... as IE6 is normally the least forgiving browser. Thanks so much, CO |
