JavaScript - Help Adding Check Boxes To Equal Total Sum
Similar TutorialsHello, let me try to explain better what I'm trying to do. I'm a real newbie I don't know much javascript but I understand more or less the logic behind it... tell me if this solution should work and if you know how to do it please show me. I have this page. http://felixdeportu.com/5/ The images are inside a div#content div#photo. I need to make div#photo's width to match the total width measurement of all the images it contains. If you load the page and you don't touch the size, it will work fine... but that's not realistic. If I resize the page, which will happen often on this kind of page (I'm assuming), the whole thing goes haywire (try it, scroll to the last image and resize the page you'll see what I mean). What can I do? Is my idea the right solution? Am I not explaining this clearly enough? Let me know please, I'm desperate. I've been trying to get CSS to do this for me for 3 hours now. Nothing works... Hi All, I need help on how to subtract totalgift if my condition of donateamount is lesser than the totalgift trigger. When the field is selected and the DonateAmount is trigger, I need to subtract the entered amount on the field selected to the TotalGift and put the field selected to zero "0" and TotalGift to original amount which is less than the amount entered on the field selected. I have some code that I created but it doesn't work. My initial javascript to calculate all the total is below assuming that DonateAmount is already selected = 25: Code: /* this function works fine with the set of code*/ function CalculateTotal(donate_amount_other) { var tota = document.getElementById('a').value; var totb = document.getElementById('b').value; var totc = document.getElementById('c').value; var totd = document.getElementById('d').value; var tote = document.getElementById('e').value; var totf = document.getElementById('f').value; var totg = document.getElementById('g').value; var toth = document.getElementById('h').value; var toti = document.getElementById('i').value; var totj = document.getElementById('j').value; var totk = document.getElementById('k').value; var totl = document.getElementById('l').value; var totm = document.getElementById('m').value; var totn = document.getElementById('n').value; var toto = document.getElementById('o').value; var totp = document.getElementById('p').value; var totq = document.getElementById('q').value; var totr = document.getElementById('r').value; var TotC = document.getElementById('TotalC').value; TotC = Number(tota) + Number(totb) + Number(totc) + Number(totd) + Number(tote) + Number(totf) + Number(totg) + Number(toth) + Number(toti) + Number(totj) + Number(totk) + Number(totl) + Number(totm) + Number(totn) + Number(toto) + Number(totp) + Number(totq) + Number(totr); document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC.toFixed(2); if (isNaN(TotC)) { // if grandTotal is not a number alert ("You must enter numbers 0-9 only in the boxes"); document.getElementById('TotalC').value = "ERROR"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } /* the condition below triggers only when the toti - totr fields are entered less than 48 but still need to subtract the total if TotalGift is greater than DonateAmount given */ if (toti >0 && toti <48 ) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('i').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totj >0 && totj <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('j').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totk >0 && totk <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('k').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totl >0 && totl <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('l').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totm >0 && totm <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('m').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totn >0 && totn <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('n').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (toto >0 && toto <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('o').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totp >0 && totp <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('p').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totq >0 && totq <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('q').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } if (totr >0 && totr <48) { alert ("All donations in this section must be $48 minimum (processing fee may apply) - please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors"); document.getElementById('r').value = "0"; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" return false; } /* The code below works if I only check the TotalGift is greater than DonateAmount but will cannot do subtraction to the TotalGift and the entered amount. */ if ((DonateText < TotC)) { alert('Your total designated amount of $' + TotC + ' is more than your donation amount of $' + DonateText + '. Please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors.'); //add if here for all fields focus document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" document.getElementById('TotalC').focus(); return false; } } Below is what I am trying to do but it doesn't work. If the first input field is selected and user enter amount greater than the TotalGift, alert will pop-up then and the amount entered by the user automatically added to the TotalGift. So what I wanted to do is to subtract the amount entered to the TotalGift so it will go back to the original amount before the addition occurs. I know it is possible but I just can't get the right code. Can you please help? I need to make this done as soon as possible, please!!!!! Code: if ((DonateText < TotC) && (document.getElementById('a').value)) { alert('Your total designated amount of $' + TotC + ' is more than your donation amount of $' + DonateText + '. Please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors.'); //add if here for all fields focus if (TotC = "0.00") { document.getElementById('a').value=0; document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" } else { TotC = TotC - document.getElementById('a').value; document.getElementById('tota').value = "0"; document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" document.getElementById('TotalC').focus(); return false; } } if ((DonateText < TotC) && (document.getElementById('b').value)) { alert('Your total designated amount of $' + TotC + ' is more than your donation amount of $' + DonateText + '. Please revise your entry to avoid any processing errors.'); if (TotC = "0.00") { document.getElementById('b').value=0; document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" } else { TotC = TotC - document.getElementById('b').value; document.getElementById('totb').value = "0"; document.getElementById('TotalC').value = TotC; // or perhaps value = "ERROR!" document.getElementById('TotalC').focus(); return false; } } /* so on My html code below which I have 18 input fields but all of them only optional wherever the user wants to input number. I will only include some here. Code below works, please ignore any missing code. I just need the calculation code to work. Hello, I am extremely new to JS so please bear with me. Any help is very much appreciated. Currently I am trying to take the values of 2 or more select boxes, add them together and then update a text field each time a selection in one of the select boxes is made. Basically, I am trying to keep a running total. Currently I have it set up so that onchange it grabs the selected value. The problem is that it is being processed as a string I believe. For instance, if there are two variables, a=111 and b=222, the output in the text field reads 111222. I tried using parseInt, but that just returns NaN (not a number?...just a guess). I have seen this solved with if statements, grabbing the selected index # and then assigning an integer, but I am hoping there is an easier way. Again, your help is appreciated. Depending upon the changed text in that textbox, there is a javascript function which creates a list of checkboxes and by using the innerHTML, the above div is filled up with the check boxes like shown in the code below: Code: var chkboxes = ''; for(var r = 0; r < related.length; r++) { chkboxes = chkboxes + '<div class ="versionswidth">'+ '<input type="checkbox" name="version" value = related[r] />'+ related[r] + '</div>'; } var div = document.getElementById("cbContainer"); div.innerHTML = chkboxes; div display is then set as "block" which makes the div visible. The problem is that on form submission, the input of selected checkboxes is not submitting. I will be grateful for any help. Thank you. Good day! I am new in javascript function. I have Javascript code for auto calculate here is the code: Code: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function autocalearn(oText) { if (isNaN(oText.value)) //filter input { alert('Numbers only!'); oText.value = ''; } var field, val, oForm = oText.form, TotEarn = a = 0; for (a; a < arguments.length; ++a) //loop through text elements { field = arguments[a]; val = parseFloat(field.value); //get value if (!isNaN(val)) //number? { TotEarn += val; //accumulate } } var tot=Number(TotEarn) + Number(document.getElementById('Amount').value); oForm.TotEarn.value = tot.toFixed(2); //oForm.TotEarn.value = TotEarn.toFixed(2); //out } </script> <!--Total Deduction AutoCompute--> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function autocalded(oText) { if (isNaN(oText.value)) //filter input { alert('Numbers only!'); oText.value = ''; } var field, val, oForm = oText.form, TotalDed = a = 0; for (a; a < arguments.length; ++a) //loop through text elements { field = arguments[a]; val = parseFloat(field.value); //get value if (!isNaN(val)) //number? { TotalDed += val; //accumulate } } //oForm.TotalDed.value = TotalDed.toFixed(2); //out var totded=Number(TotalDed) + Number(document.getElementById('Deductions').value); oForm.TotalDed.value = totded.toFixed(2); } </script> and now my problem is...I have a textbox for the overall total, and i want it automatic subtract the total earn and total deduction.. I will attach my codes for further understanding. Thank you in advance Hi all, I'll get it out their early, I am somewhat of a javascript novice. Here is the code I am working with: Code: <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numitems = $("#foo6 > li").length; var secondstartpoint = numitems -3; }); </script> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(function() { $("#foo6").carouFredSel({ width : 136, height: 822, scroll : { items:1 }, items : { visible: 6, start: secondstartpoint }, easing:"swing", auto : false, prev : "#next3", next : "#prev4", direction:"down", align:"left" }); }); </script> As you can probably see I am trying to set the start point of a jquery carousel to equal a variable that I have created. You can see I have tried " start: secondstartpoint", but this isn't working. I think possibly because the way the plugin is formatted so that the "start" option can only equal a number. Can anyone shed some light on this issue and perhaps even suggest a solution? Thanks in advance guys Dan Hi, I'd like to set the div width equal to the image width. Here's what I can think of: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function () { document.getElementById('foo').style.width = document.getElementById('bar').width + 'px'; } </script> <div id="foo" style="background:red;"><img id="bar" src="image.jpg"></div> It seems to be working, but I'm not sure if it's correct coding. Thanks in advance for checking the code or any improvement you suggest! Rain lover Could anyone tell me (or link me to some place that can) why the following if-statement will execute? if (5!=6 || 7!=8) { alert("Why does this work?"); } Thanks This is the program.and here is the script. I have tried all I know without success. This Sources program is on another css/html forum for another issue. How would I clean up this code? it looks so ugly, would I put it in a for loop and make it loop through and set the rand2, rand3, rand4 = place... there so there is a lot less lines of code(which is what I want) I need a cleaner way to do this, so it isn't so much space. Can someone help? there needs to be different variables because I need the random to be different for each, so rand2 = different random value than rand3. var place = [74,111,148,185,222,259,296,333,370]; var random = [rand,rand2,rand3,rand4,rand5,rand6,rand7,rand8,rand9]; var rand = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand2 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand3 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand4 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand5 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand6 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand7 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand8 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var rand9 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand1 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand2 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand3 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand4 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand5 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand6 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand7 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand8 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var newrand9 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old1 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old2 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old3 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old4 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old5 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old6 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old7 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old8 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; var old9 = place[Math.floor(Math.random()*place.length)]; On this webpage http://www.corkdiscos.com/testimonials.html i have a like button. when a user clicks like a comment box appears. when i unlike the button the comment box disappears this is ok but when a user has already liked the facebook page and comes to my webpage the comment box does not show. so im looking for a piece of javascript to check if a user has like the button on my page and if so to show the comment box. please check my source code of the website http://www.corkdiscos.com/testimonials.html to see what i have so far. any help would be greatly appreciated Hi guys. I'm working a bunch of pre existing code on a CMS. Just after a quick fix. Doing a show/hide thing on a particular div somewhere on the page depending if a checkbox is ticked or not. Currently there is 3 checkboxes that are dynamically added through the CMS. Here's simplified version of the form: Code: <form id="simplesearch" name="simplesearch"> <input type="checkbox" onclick='showhidefield(this.value)' name="meta_data_array_search_criteria[custom_profile_type][]" value="5" class="input-checkboxes" /> <input type="checkbox" onclick='showhidefield(this.value)' name="meta_data_array_search_criteria[custom_profile_type][]" value="4" class="input-checkboxes" /> </form> And here's the javascript I was playing with. Code: function showhidefield(id) { if(document.simplesearch.meta_data_array_search_criteria[custom_profile_type][''].checked) { document.getElementById("profile_fields_wrapper_" + id).style.visibility = "visible"; } else { document.getElementById("profile_fields_wrapper_" + id).style.visibility = "hidden"; } } Problem I'm having is how do i do a check to see if those checkboxes are checked in the javascript with those name arrays? How do i separate them? 'm guessing I have to loop through them or something?Hopefully that make senses - it's late here and I'm losing the plot Any pointers would be gratefully welcomed |
