JavaScript - I Change Text Via Javascript And It's Not Reflected When I View Source

Hi,

I'm creating an extension on Firefox that wishes to parse the source of a page that the user is currently viewing for specific information.

I've gotten as far as creating a simple extension with a button and when I click on it, it will show the url of the page I am currently viewing through:
content.location.href

All the examples I've seen so far concerning viewing the source forces you to either use the 'view-source:' convention or the 'xmlhttprequest' method. But these examples seems to be meant to be called within a web page and not an extension.

When I cut and paste with these examples, I only get the source for the actual chrome portion of Firefox. I've tried modifying some of the examples to include 'content.document....etc' to reference what's being displayed in the browser, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone provide sample or reference code so I can extract the page source of my current window from an extension?

I have created and opened a new window using Javascript and written to it with the document.write Command. When I click "View" and then "Page Source" (Firefox) to view the source of it, however, it displays a blank page. How can I get the source of a window I created?

now i need to set the color from a text file server side
so far i can set the contents of the div serverside but the customer needs to be able to change the color of the innerhtml .
now i would like to store the color in a text file color.txt i can make the code to change the txt file myself
inside the color.txt would be "lightgreen" or other color
how would i go about this.
so in basic terms i need to set the color of the text from a color.txt file sat next to the index.html

I am creating a photography website and am almost there with coding a very simple image viewer with clickable thumbnails etc.

I have used the following script to change the images;

Hi guys,
Am creating a web page in which a user searches a customer using customer id. The results are then displayed in a table. This is working fine.

In addition to this, I have created another form in which a user enters a value in a textbox. This value is then compared to the results obtained in the previous table.The values below should be shown in green and those above in red (identical values may be shown in amber). This should be acomplished using javascript.

Currently my javascript code changes the entire row in the table, which is not I desired.
How do I edit this script so that only values in particular CELL in a row e.g CELL 5, is changed and not the entire row?

I try to change script source dynamically.

When I use the following code, it works fine, and the script is executed

However when I use the following code, it doesn't work, the script isn't executed

The only difference between the codes is that in the first code I use constant sting, and in the second code I use variable, in order to make the source dynamic.

Im very new to java scripting so any help would be truly appreciated. I have a single web page that loads several iframes. One of the iframe pages has to be logged in first. I have that taken care of but once the page is loaded I need to change the source to a link with in the page. My guess is I need something to execute the code like a onload or something. This is what Ive been trying to get to work but like I said a newb!

The iframe in question is named "cad"
the initial source once loaded is 'https://urlname.com/mainmenu.asp'

I have a php script that displays database data in a web table. I also have a javascript code which is supposed to compare the value entered in a web form to that hard coded in the script and change the color to green if its below, amber if its equal and red if its greater than.

As you can see from my javascript, i am getting the elements by id (getElementById("color")).
Currently, only the first <td> with id='color' is changing when the value is entered.
How do I make the text in other table cells with id='color' change color when the comparison value is entered?

I need to change the source of an image but I can't seem to figure out how. I believe that I have the correct syntax, but it does not seem to be working. Maybe I am typing it in wrong or something.

I try to test my javascript by typing the script: <strong>javascript:document.getElementById('img1').src='./images/image1.jpg';</strong> into the address bar. Nothing happens.

I also try to test it out by putting this on the page, but once again, nothing happens.

To begin, we need some simple HTML elements:

A basic form;
An Input text that will contain the URLs we want to use;
An iFrame that will display the page we select from the input text.

Is it possible to self source a javascript file?
I have a file with code that opens a javascript window and document.writes
to it. I want to run some code in this file attached to window.onload.

The object is to have a widget all in one file, rather than having a separate html, css file and another javascript code file.

I've a div that is editable (contentEditable = true). The div has a fixed size like a letter page. When the user has written so much text that the text overflows I want add a new div above and let flow the overflown text in the other div. (it's the some behavior like MS Word in page view, but now it is in the web)

It is possible to do something like this in the web?


One way to implement this is to check if the text of the div overflows (I've found java script examples in the web which do that). And than I need the text that overflows to move it to the next div. But I have not found a function that do this. Is there such a function?


Another way is to insert a gap at that position a new page begins and use an background image that looks like a page border. With this solution, the whole text is in one div but it looks like floating to another page. But therefore, I have to add a gap between to lines at a specific position (the page border/margin and the gab between the pages). Does anyone have an idea how to realize this?


Maybe there are other possibilities to find a solution, aren't there?

How does one go about swapping the Javascript Source file for another on when a checkbox is clicked, obviously the sources have to revert to their normal state on reload or unchecking the checkbox:

this would be the original source:
<script type="text/javascript" src="Includes/eng_chars.js"></script>

it would be swapped for this souce file on checkbox checked:

<script type="text/javascript" src="Includes/heb_chars.js"></script>

and then returned to
<script type="text/javascript" src="Includes/eng_chars.js"></script>
when the checkbox is unchecked, page is reloaded or the the reset (clear form) button is pushed
