JavaScript - How To Display 'loading Pls Wait Message' Using Javascript
Hi,
I have php script that uploads a file. once i click upload it should display a animated GIF image or "Loading please wait" message with the backround transparent screen covering the whole page so that the user is not able to click anything during file upload. How can i do this? Could someone help me on this. Thanks in advance. Similar TutorialsWatching firebug on facebook, I noticed I'm able to receive chat messages and notifications without constantly polling the server. How is this achieved? Google gives me mixed (seemingly irrelevant) results. I read 3 different methods related to "reverse AJAX" but it doesn't seem to be exactly what I'm looking for - i.e., no constant polling and no "piggy-backing" (waiting for user to do something then send extra data).
ok. so i have all these big images and i need to let the whole page load before the viewer sees it what i would like is for a separate url (or something to completely cover the html page so you cant see it loading) to say please wait or something like that. Help! Hi, I am using a slideshow and want to basically have an 'image loading' whilst all the images load before the slideshow. Is there a way to do this? So far I have figured the best way around this is to have a GIF as a background image that says the loading message, and then once the slideshow loads over the top its fine, however im guessing this is'nt the right way to do this. I am using this slideshow set to just loop: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...lslideshow.htm I am open to using other similar slideshows if there is one more suited. Thanks javascript2.js Code: function displayMessage(msg) { // Open a new window var msgWindow = window.open('', 'Message'); // Write message in the new Window msgWindow.document.write(msg); // Raise this window, in case it's not visible msgWindow.focus(); } //Enter total number of questions: var totalquestions=13 var correctchoices=new Array("a","a","b","c","b","c","a","a","b","c","a","b","b"); var correctanswers=new Array("memory locations","_ underscore","x=5+5;","20","Else","lose win","ticker = ticker + 1;","Ticker = ticker + 1;","300.000","Jonathon \b","var","var counter;","var mark = 50, 70"); function gradeit(){ var actualchoices=new Array() var msg1=new Array() var correctanswersno=0 var t=0 var displaycorrectanswers="" for (q=1;q<=totalquestions;q++){ var thequestion=eval("document.Questionform.q"+q) for (c=0;c<thequestion.length;c++){ if (thequestion[c].checked==true) actualchoices[q]=thequestion[c].value } if (actualchoices[q]==correctchoices[q]){ msg1[t]=q+")"+" Correct"; correctanswersno = correctanswersno + 1; t = t + 1; } else { msg1[t]=q+")"+" Incorrect: <br>Correct Answer: "+correctchoices[q]+") "+correctanswers[q]; t = t + 1; } } for (p=0;p<=12;p++){ displaycorrectanswers+="<br>"+msg1[p]; } var msg="Sco "+correctanswersno+"/"+totalquestions+" <br><br>Marks: "+displaycorrectanswers; displayMessage(msg); } Basically on my index page it has a button which when clicked makes use of gradeit(). Currently this then used displayMessage(msg) which opens a new window and displays the message. However, what I want it to do is to open another created html page e.g. answer.html and then for this page to display the message. How do i do this? Hi, I'm having some issues turning this "Please Wait"/Disabled button into a function. Code: <input type="submit" value="Submit Form" onClick="this.disabled = 'true'; this.value='Please wait...';" /> Code: function pleasewait() { this.disabled = 'true'; this.value='Please wait..' } <input type="submit" value="Submit Form" onClick="pleasewait();" /> Thanks much Hi, I am a newbie in JS, and have already been stuck with this problem for the whole day. Basically I want to display a var returned from a function with <fmt:message/> tag. It sounds easy, but somehow I just can't get it to be display correctly (Tried with alert() and it worked). Here is my code: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <script> function ReturnTime() { var dateobj=new Date(); if (dateobj.getSeconds()%30==0) { return dateobj.getSeconds(); } else { return dateobj.getSeconds(); } } time1 = ShowTime(); alert(time1); </script> <fmt:message key='content.currentTime'/>: <cut value="${time1}"/> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I might have done some stupid things here. But I am very new to JS (2 days of experience so far). So please be patient. Your kind help will be very much appreciated. Regards, Robert Hi guys im trying to give users a warning message with javascript when the submit my login form without inserting any new data. But I can't seem to find out how to stop the form from going to the login.php here is my code. Code: <form name="te" onsubmit='login();' action='login.php' method='post'> <input name='username' maxlength='14' value='Username' type='text' /> <input name='password' maxlength='20' value='Password' type='password' /> <input type="submit" name="login" value="Login" /> </form> javascript: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function login() { var username = document.te.username.value; var password = document.te.password.value; if (username == 'Username' || username == '') { alert('empty username!'); return false; } else { if (password == 'Password' || password == '') { alert('empty pass'); return false; } } return true; } </script> Hello. I've recently implemented this really cool jQuery preloader called queryLoader. When a visitor comes to my site they are fed all the important images for the entire site (it's a very small site). During that time queryLoader shows a percentage loading animation, and once all the images are loaded it wipes the screen & displays the website. I've placed another custom animation in the "page loading" div, and i want to make sure it loads first so that it is displayed while the rest of the images get downloaded. I've tried pre-loading with javascript as the very first script in my header, before jQuery or queryLoader get loaded, like this: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> pic1= new Image(250,300); pic1.src="images/page_loading.gif"; </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/jQuery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/queryLoader.js"></script> However, this doesn't seem to be that effective. When i clear browser cache and reload the page, the page_loading.gif sometimes doesn't appear until the site is almost completely loaded. Is there a more effective way to assure the page_loading.gif gets loaded before any other images? My site is jugtones.com if that helps in any way. Thanks for your time, -Scott http://tinyurl.com/bw2y3sr This is my site and I want to create a Yes and No dialogue box when user closes a browser so this popup confirm dialogue should appear. Can anyone help me? Hi I'm using an ActiveX control in my html page.. Each time i load the page ie pops a message box to allow the activex to run or not . Is there any way to handle that message box using javascript. Or is there any other way to avoid that message box because each time the page loads i have to give yes and then proceed. By default i've to give yes is there any way to handle that using javascript. help me out please... Firebug is giving me no error messages, but alert() message is never triggered. Hi guys, I am new here and am looking for a bit of help! I am building a website for a friend and am using Javascript. When I preview the site from my computer in Chrome/Firefox then all the JS elements render correctly. I am using jCarouselLite by the way and have used HTML Boilerplate too. However, when I upload the site the Carousel does not work... Also, I seem to have a lot of scripts kicking around inside the html so I will give you a list of those, but here are my external JS files so my question before posting up all the code are 1.) what is the problem with rendering the JS elements live on t'internet, and 2.) can I reduce the amount of JS files/scripts to help page loading times? css_browser_select.js modernizr-1.7.min.js jquery-1.6.1.min.js jcarousellite.js functions.js Code: $(document).ready(function(){ // Activate the main slider $("#mainSlider").jcarousellite({ btnNext: "#sliderBtnNext", btnPrev: "#sliderBtnPrev", visible: 1 }); }); plugins.js script.js jquery.placeholder.min.js and this is the code inside my HTML: Head: Code: <!-- CSS: implied media="all" --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" media="screen"> <link rel="stylesheet" media="handheld" href="css/handheld.css"> <!-- CSS Browser Compatibility --> <script src="js/css_browser_select.js"></script> <!-- Mobile viewport optimized: j.mp/bplateviewport --> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"> <!-- All JavaScript at the bottom, except for Modernizr which enables HTML5 elements & feature detects --> <script src="js/libs/modernizr-1.7.min.js"></script> /Head and this is at the bottom of the Body: Code: <script src="js/libs/jquery-1.6.1.min.js"></script> <script src="js/libs/jcarousellite.js"></script> <script src="js/libs/functions.js"></script> <!-- Grab Google CDN's jQuery, with a protocol relative URL; fall back to local if necessary --> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script>window.jQuery || document.write("<script src='js/libs/jquery-1.6.1.min.js'>\x3C/script>")</script> <!-- scripts concatenated and minified via ant build script--> <script src="js/plugins.js"></script> <script src="js/script.js"></script> <!-- THIS MAY NEED TO BE REDONE! Hello everyone, I am just beginning to learn javascript, and I am trying to create a little game where when a user hovers over a picture it changes, and things like that. At the moment I have been trying to make it so that the pictures tile so they fill the whole page area, dynamically so that it changes depending on the users browser size (px). The images have many attributes so I can't just tile them with css as they need to be actual elements. The problem is the code doesn't run, and I can't work out why. I think all the lines that require it have semi colons and its all correct. Forgive me if the answer is clear but as I said I only just started learning. Anyway, on with the code: Code: <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>Hi, I'm a button.</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css"> <script type="javascript"> function mainDo() { if (document.body && document.body.offsetWidth) { winW = document.body.offsetWidth; winH = document.body.offsetHeight; } if (document.compatMode=='CSS1Compat' && document.documentElement && document.documentElement.offsetWidth ) { winW = document.documentElement.offsetWidth; winH = document.documentElement.offsetHeight; } if (window.innerWidth && window.innerHeight) { winW = window.innerWidth; winH = window.innerHeight; } document.write('Width = ' + winW + 'Height = ' + winH); winW=winW/127; winH=winH/128; winW=Math.round(winW); winWs=winW; winH=Math.round(winH); winHs=winH; document.write('Width = ' + winW + 'Height = ' + winH); while (winH>0) { while (winW>0) { document.write('<img onMouseover="this.src=\'img/hibutton_orange.png\'" onClick="this.src=\'img/hibutton_green.png\'" ondblClick="this.src=\'img/hibutton_blue.png\'" src="img/hibutton_blue.png">'); winW=winW-1; } document.write('\n' + '<br>'); winW=winWs; winH=winH-1; } } </script> </head> <body onload="maindo()"> </body> </html> |
