JavaScript - A List Of Variables And Any Outcome
Sorry this is my first post and I know what I want to do but I'm not certain of what it's called!
Example of the code I have now: Code: var1 = on; var2 = off; var3 = on; if (var1 == "on") { document.write("var1 text when on"); } else if (var1 == "off") { document.write("var 1 text when off"); } else { document.write("var 1 text for warning"); } ETC ETC I basically want to be able to do something along the lines of "if var 1-3 = off or warn then display x, else display y". My real variables are words not numbers, dont think that makes a difference though. I've already tryed "if var1, var2 etc" and also "if var1 var2" but these dont work. I assume I need some kind of array but I may be wrong? I hope this makes a bit of sense, thank you in advance! Similar TutorialsI am creating a quote calculator as a mobile app using the JQuery Mobile plugin in Dreamweaver CS5.5. This supports HTML5 & Javascript. I have included a drop down list in which the user selects a specific Annual Volume. I have 2 different calculations that need to be done based on the users selection. Different calculations meaning that I need 2 different number values assigned to the option. For Example: Calculation #1 (I'm calculating what the Run Quantity is based on what the user selects as the Annual Volume. If user selects an Annual Volume of 150,000 then the calculated result for Run Quantity needs to be 3500) HTML for this scenario: Code: <li data-role="fieldcontain"> <p><span class="ui-listview-inset">Annual Volume:</label> <select name="annualvolume" id="annualvolume"> onChange="Calculate();"> <option value="1000">10,000</option> <option value="2000">30,000</option> <option value="3500">150,000</option> <option value="6000">300,000</option> <option value="10000">500,000</option> <option value="20000">1,000,000</option> </select> </p> </li> Calculation #2 (within the same form as the above calculation, I also need to calculate what the Annual Sales will be. The math to calculate the Annual Sales is to multiply the Final Piece Price (which is another calculation within this form) with Annual Volume. However with this Calculation # 2 I need the value to be 150,000 when user selects 150,000 and NOT 3500 as it was before. I've tried tweaking the HTML in following manner to assign 2 values within the same drop down, but it didn't work correctly. Code: <option value="3500" amount="150000">150,000</option> My javascript is as follows (please note that I deleted all the result fields except for the 3 that reference my described calculations above. My actual calculator has over 20 results all based on the user's inputs. This is why there are so many variables listed in my javascript - they are for the other results) Code: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function CalculateSum(Atext, Btext, materialtype, presstype, Etext, Ftext, annualvolume, annualvolume2,Htext, Itext, form) { //INPUTS var A = parseFloat (Atext); var B = parseFloat (Btext); var C = document.getElementById('materialtype').value; var D = document.getElementById('presstype').value; var E = parseFloat (Etext); var F = parseFloat (Ftext); var G = document.getElementById('annualvolume').value; var GA = document.getElementById('annualvolume').amount; var H = parseFloat (Htext); var I = parseFloat (Itext); //RESULTS form.RunQuantity.value = G form.FinalPiecePrice.value = (((C*A) + F) + ((D/G) + E) + (((C*A) + F) + ((D/G) + E )) * (H *.01) + (((C*A) + F) + ((D/G) + E ) + (((C*A) + F) + ((D/G) + E )) * (H *.01)) * (I *.01)) form.AnnualSales.value = (form.FinalPiecePrice.value * GA) } </script> Currently I am simply having the user enter the annual volume twice so I can do the 2 calculations, but this is really clunky and not ideal. I'm fairly new to Javascript but have learned a lot from reading other posts by people like you. This is the first thing I haven't been able to figure out on my own and any help would be greatly appreciated. i need to disable a button if a table cell has a certain value inside of it. Code: if (document.getElementById('ba' + roid.value + 'r' + roid2.value + 'c1').innerHTML = " ") { document.getElementsByName('open')[0].disabled=true; } else { document.getElementsByName('open')[0].disabled=false; } That is what i have got. The problem is that the button is constantly disabled no matter what the value and also when it executes it gives that cell the value of . i really dont know what is going on. any help apreciated Hi all, I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County). I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database. This piece of code is working well . . . . Code: <?php $link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database'); if(isset($_GET["County"]) && is_numeric($_GET["County"])) { $County = $_GET["County"]; } if(isset($_GET["Region"]) && is_numeric($_GET["Region"])) { $Region = $_GET["Region"]; } ?> <script language="JavaScript"> function autoSubmit() { var formObject = document.forms['theForm']; formObject.submit(); } </script> <form name="theForm" method="get"> <!-- County SELECTION BASED ON city VALUE --> <?php ?> <select name="County" onChange="autoSubmit();"> <option value=''</option> <?php //POPULATE DROP DOWN MENU WITH COUNTRIES FROM A GIVEN city $sql = "SELECT * FROM county_regions"; $counties = mysql_query($sql,$link); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($counties)) { echo ("<option value=\"$row[CountyID]\" " . Thanks in advance for your help. I would like to make an ordered list, for example: 1. Airplane 2. Boat 3. Car I'd like one of the words to be displayed on my webpage, for example: Boat Then I'd want an up button, and a down button. The up button would display Airplane instead of Boat, and the down button would display Car instead of Boat. Once it got to Car, the same up button would change it back to boat. How do I do this? Thanks. 09-01-10 Not sure exactly where to post this thread as it involves HTML, Javascript and embedded media players. It probably would be more appropriate here as there is much Javascript involved.... Hello, I am trying to construct a Jukebox for my website. I have spent considerable time all over the WEB and at this forum which addressed the issue in a 50 page thread. Please see: http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=50666 I got a lot of ideas from this thread but still cannot figure a way to do the following within the Jukebox. These are my main two questions for everything below: 1. How can I have the Jukebox cycle through all tunes and then start over from the beginning? 2. How can I allow the user to select a tune from a list but not a drop down list, have the Jukebox start from the user’s selection and then play all songs to the end. Then as in #1, start over from the beginning? Per this thread I came away with basically two ways to assemble the jukebox. One uses links in a drop down list which the user can choose from. The other is to use an .m3u playlist. The user can only select a “playlist” from the drop down. Below, I have included the code for each Jukebox. To see the Jukeboxes in action please go to my website where I have posted some test pages exhibiting the jukeboxes that I am referring to. The following is the Jukebox which utilizes an .m3u playlist. If I end up using this idea I would like the tunes in the .m3u playlist to be displayed and allow the user to be able to choose a tune in the list. Then have the list play to the end of all tunes in the list. Then start over from the beginning of the list. After this code is the .m3u playlist. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using an .M3U Playlist” Jukebox utilizing an .m3u playlist: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> <br> <br> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="JukeboxList.m3u">Jukebox List</option> </select><br> </html> Here is the .m3u playlist for the above code: Code: #EXTM3U #EXTINF:Bill Evans - G Waltz media/G Waltz.mp3 #EXTINF:Dan Pincus - In Your Time media/In Your Time.mp3 The following code is for the Jukebox that has a list of links in a dropdown list. If I go with this idea, I would like for the list not to be a dropdown list but just a list of tunes. The user should be able to click on any tune in the list and the player should start from that point, play all the remaining tunes in the list and then start from the beginning. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using Links” Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="media/GWaltz.mp3">G Waltz</option> <option value="media/InYourTime.mp3">In Your Time</option> <option value="http://urltosong3.mp3">Song 3</option> <option value="http://urltosong4.mp3">Song 4</option> <option value="http://urltosong5.mp3">Song 5</option> </select><br> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> </html> Another idea I found on the WEB also uses an .m3u playlist. Options in list 1: 1,3 or 4 List two should be enabled when 3 or 4 is selected in list 1. So far so good, managed to get it to work with only one set of lists, but I actually have 18 of those sets in this form: Code: <select name="fw[$i]" id="fw[$i]"> <option value="1">FWH</option> <option value="3">links</option> <option value="4">rechts</option> <option value="0" selected></option> </select><br /> <select name="lie[$i]" id="lie[$i]" disabled="disabled" onchange="showBox($i,xxx);"> <option value="0" selected>---</option> <option value="1">gut</option> <option value="2">schlecht</option> <option value="3">Strafschlag</option> <option value="4">OB</option> </select> $i is my index generated by my PHP script and runs from 1 to 18. Everything works just fine as long as the index is not in play. With the index my function breaks, most probably due to my inability to extract the second parameter (xxx above) from the selection field. Here's my function, there could be something wrong there too with how exactly to specify the proper dropdown list to enable. Code: function showBox(field, val) { if (val > 1) { var box = 'lie[' + field + ']'; document.form1.box.disabled == false; } else { document.form1.box.disabled == true; } } Finally, I'm not that adept in javascript programming, more like a trial and error guy, how has hit the wall with this problem. Any help will be apreciated. I hope someone can help me! I have a website that sells a product through a third party merchant - ie a customer clicks my "buy now" button and they are transfered to the merchants payment processing page. once the transaction is complete the customer is sent back to my thank you page where I give them some extra stuff for free. All pretty normal I guess. The problem is this - The merchant sends back some url parameters when they transfer the customer to the thank you page and I would now like to use the "customer name" parameter to personalise the thank you page to test if this makes any difference to my return rate. Now, whilst I am not a complete newbie I haven't got a clue how to achieve this. What I want to do is have the page display: "Hello [customer] .....etc..." The customer name parameter is passed as "cname" and is one of about a dozen passed seperated, presumably, by "&" Thanks for any help! Paul I wrote a script: when the same button is clicked for the first time, it should give a message "Hello World", for the second time "hello Earth". The script is not working. I don't want anybody to re-write the script, but to look at how i define variables and tell me where I am wrong. I think, this is where the main error is. my current script just outputs the message "hello world". my assumption is that functions can alter the value of a global variable. Thank you very much. Hi there, Greetings, I have limited knowledge on Javascript. I wish someone could help me out. Thanks. I have actually found a free script named "Image Flow" (http://finnrudolph.de/ImageFlow/Examples) on the website. Then, I have uploaded it to my web server. Everything was fine and functioning well. I would like to add in new Var (to make new window appears after clicking) according to the codes given but failed to do so. The codes given are A) Code: var target_1 = new ImageFlow(); target_1.init({ ImageFlowID: 'target_1,' onClick: function() {window.open(this.url, '_blank');} }); Then, I just added the above code into imageflow.JS and imageflow.packed.JS. (I have attached the file below) Original: Code: domReady(function() { var instanceOne = new ImageFlow(); instanceOne.init({ ImageFlowID:'myImageFlow' }); }); After amendment: Code: domReady(function() { var instanceOne = new ImageFlow(); instanceOne.init({ ImageFlowID:'myImageFlow' }); var target_1 = new ImageFlow(); target_1.init({ ImageFlowID: 'target_1,' onClick: function() {window.open(this.url, '_blank');} }); }); However, no pictures were loaded after that. Does it involve more than just "copy and paste"? Or what have I done incorrectly? Sorry to disturb you. Hi, I'm trying to get variables out of an iFrame for my JavaScript function. Is it possible to use an onload parameter to call the JavaScript function to run after it has loaded? If there is a better method to get remotely created variables into a JavaScript function, besides using the url, please let me know. Thanks Hello to all! Can I have 2 variables upon one select? The code below is created dinamicly with php from a database, and displays a dropdown select box, the only thing is that the values: Oliver Franchis, Pedro pastor, Maria China... have unique ID's and when the name is selected I would like the ID allso to be. Code: <!-- Populate list with friends START--> var newTextbox = document.createElement('select'); newTextbox.className = 'fn-select'; newTextbox.name = "opcion"; //First user in the populated select menu is the person Loged in var op1 = new Option("", "Oliver Franchis"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Me | Oliver Franchis'); op1.appendChild(txt1); //Next users are my friends in the database var op1 = new Option("", "Pedro pastor"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Pedro pastor'); op1.appendChild(txt1); var op1 = new Option("", "Maria China"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Maria China'); op1.appendChild(txt1); var op1 = new Option("", "Juan Testing"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Juan Testing'); op1.appendChild(txt1); var op1 = new Option("", "Carmen Hernandez"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Carmen Hernandez'); op1.appendChild(txt1); var op1 = new Option("", "Eduardo Palote"); newTextbox.appendChild(op1); var txt1 = document.createTextNode('Eduardo Pajote'); op1.appendChild(txt1); editAreaText.appendChild(newTextbox); editArea.appendChild(editAreaText); <!-- Populate list with friends END--> This is the function on the index.php page: Code: function saveNote (note) { resetAjax(); var photoId = note.container.element.id; ajax.setVar('action', 'save'); ajax.setVar('photo_id', photoId); ajax.setVar('note_id', note.id); ajax.setVar('left', note.rect.left); ajax.setVar('top', note.rect.top); ajax.setVar('width', note.rect.width); ajax.setVar('height', note.rect.height); ajax.encVar('text', note.gui.TextBox.value); ajax.runAJAX(); var statusDiv = document.getElementById('PhotoNoteStatus'); ajax.onCompletion = function () {statusDiv.innerHTML = "<p>Note saved.</p>"; } return 1; } I have this code: Code: var player = 100; var part1 = ('ctl00_cphRoblox_TabbedInfo_GamesTab_RunningGamesList_RunningGamesListView_ctrl0_ctl00_PlayersRepeater_ct'); var part2 = ('_PlayerImage1'); var final = part1 + player + part2; var name = document.getElementById(final) The variable (name) turns up null when I try to see what it is. But, it is, infact, an element on the page, and when I do it manually it works. Help? Lately I've been doing some modding for a game called Minecraft which requires some programming in Java. I've been doing a lot of research but because I can't think of a simplified version of my questions it's hard to get any results from Google. So I'm hoping someone could answer these for me. If you can't, I would even appreciate being pointed in the right direction or led to some reading material that would answer these questions for me. 1) How can I add the value of a variable onto the name of another variable. For instance, I have this line of code Code: EntityItem entityitem = new EntityItem(world, (float)i + f2, (float)j + f3, (float)k + f4, new ItemStack(Item.ingotIron)); and this variable that will always be a number Code: private int numberA; I would like to add the value of numberA onto entityitem. So if numberA was 1 entityitem would become entityitem1. 2) What is the best variable type to store values such as Item.coal, which is an object within the game? Would a String type suffice? 3) Using the same code above: Code: EntityItem entityitem = new EntityItem(world, (float)i + f2, (float)j + f3, (float)k + f4, new ItemStack(Item.ingotIron)); How could I use a variable's value where Item.ingotIron is? I tried some different things but the compiler threw "ItemStack doesn't exist" or some error along those lines at me. For instance if variableA's value is Item.coal, how could I use that variables value where Item.ingotIron is. Code: EntityItem entityitem = new EntityItem(world, (float)i + f2, (float)j + f3, (float)k + f4, new ItemStack(variableA)); I appreciate your time and help on this issue and anything you can provide will be greatly appreciated. hello all I am working on a keyword filter and am stuck on something that I am hoping someone has more experience with my problem is that I am trying to pass a regular expression as a variable to the RegExp() function in javascript but it does not seem to be working example below Code: var X = '^(?=.*?('; var Y = 'dog))(?=.*?(cat))(?=.*?(mouse'; // this gets created dynamically var Z = ')).*$'; var A = X + Y + Z; // result is ^(?=.*?(dog))(?=.*?(cat))(?=.*?(mouse)).*$ and is a valid and tested expression var B = new RegExp(A, 'i'); I want to pass B to a search() function but it does not seem to be accepted as a valid expression anymore thanks for any help |
