Similar TutorialsHey there, I'll explain what I'm trying to do. I have a back-to-top button on my website that will only appear after the user is 500px down the page. I'd like to be able to change that 500px value to whatever the users window height is. I have a code that retrieves the users window height and will echo it wherever I place the script on my page: Code: <script> var winW = 800, winH = 600; if (document.body && document.body.offsetWidth) { winW = document.body.offsetWidth; winH = document.body.offsetHeight; } if (document.compatMode=='CSS1Compat' && document.documentElement && document.documentElement.offsetWidth ) { winW = document.documentElement.offsetWidth; winH = document.documentElement.offsetHeight; } if (window.innerWidth && window.innerHeight) { winW = window.innerWidth; winH = window.innerHeight; } document.writeln(+winH); </script> I'll also post the script for the back-to-top button: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src='<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/js/jquery.min.js'></script><script> $(document).ready(function(){ // hide #back-top first $("#back-top").hide(); // fade in #back-top $(function () { $(window).scroll(function () { if ($(this).scrollTop() > 500) { $('#back-top').fadeIn(); } else { $('#back-top').fadeOut(); } }); // scroll body to 0px on click $('#back-top a').click(function () { $('body, html').animate({ scrollTop: 0 }, 800); return false; }); }); }); </script> In that first code, it seems like the value +winH is what I need to use. The line document.writeln(+winH); merely prints the value as text on my page. Now in this second piece of code there's two numeric values. The second, 800, is the speed that the page scrolls back to the top. The first value, 500, is the value I want to replace. Can anyone guide me through how I might combine these two scripts to work together? Can any of you help me to find the soluation please . However, for people without Flash (like iPhone/Safari), I accommodate them by using a JavaScript that offers a list of simple links to the mp3 files. What I would really like, in the case of a page where there are several songs by the same artist, is a script that when activated, will play all the files in order. Possible? Where would I look for such a script?
Hey guys. So right now I'm able to execute javascript code on my website without the use of <script> tags. Example: <body onload=alert("cool");></body> What I want to be able to do is insert an external javascript file located at another website using JavaScript code (not script tags). How can this be done? Thanks hi i need to merge this code in 1 file the files in attach the code for auto popup window withe cookis i need merge it for switch it to vb mood i think the job very easy but am not java script cooder Hello All, I found this awesome upload script and it works perfectly for what I need so far. The one problem is I can't get it to work for multiple (individual files). The script works like a user will click the browse button, select the file, and it auto submits uploading the file. Now the script is setup to handle multiple files selected all at once, but I need separate buttons for each file. So here is the main page Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <title>HTML5 File API</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" /> </head> <body> <div id="main"> <h1>Upload Your Images</h1> <form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="upload.php"> <input type="file" name="images" id="images"/> <input type="file" name="images" id="images"/> <input type="file" name="images" id="images"/> <button type="submit" id="btn">Upload Files!</button> </form> <div id="response"></div> <ul id="image-list"> </ul> </div> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="upload.js"></script> </body> </html> Here is the upload.php file Code: <?php foreach ($_FILES["images"]["error"] as $key => $error) { if ($error == UPLOAD_ERR_OK) { $name = $_FILES["images"]["name"][$key]; move_uploaded_file( $_FILES["images"]["tmp_name"][$key], "uploads/" . $_FILES['images']['name'][$key]); } } echo $_FILES['images']['name'][$key]; ?> And the upload.js file Code: (function () { var input = document.getElementById("images"), formdata = false; if (window.FormData) { formdata = new FormData(); document.getElementById("btn").style.display = "none"; } input.addEventListener("change", function (evt) { document.getElementById("response").innerHTML = "Uploading . . ." var i = 0, len = this.files.length, img, reader, file; for ( ; i < len; i++ ) { file = this.files[i]; if ( window.FileReader ) { reader = new FileReader(); reader.onloadend = function (e) { showUploadedItem(e.target.result, file.fileName); }; reader.readAsDataURL(file); } if (formdata) { formdata.append("images[]", file); } } if (formdata) { $.ajax({ url: "upload.php", type: "POST", data: formdata, processData: false, contentType: false, success: function (res) { document.getElementById("response").innerHTML = res; } }); } }, false); }()); I'm good with php, but don't know much with javascript and jquery so I don't really know how this works. Is there a way to adjust this so the multiple file inputs will upload. Right now it will only upload the first one. Here is it working. http://www.skafreaks.com/new2/upload/ Thanks for any help SkaFreaks Hello, i'm working on a 3 page survey. When hitting next, previous, or submit it passes the values of all the questions to the next page. I've got the whole thing working correcting except for one thing: When the box is "not" checked it passes no value. I'm needing it to have a value of "1" when checked and a value of "0" when not checked, and currently when its not checked and i pass the info it leaves it blank. I'd post the whole code to one of the pages but it's long , so i'll post the snipits of the code. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ function processQueryString() { var formData = location.search; formData = formData.substring(1, formData.length); while (formData.indexOf("+") != -1) { formData = formData.replace("+", " "); } formData = unescape(formData); var formArray = formData.split("&"); for (var i=0; i < formArray.length; ++i) { //document.writeln(formArray[i] + "<br />"); var sDataName = formArray[i].split("=") switch (sDataName[0]) { case ".lib_use": for (var j=0; j < document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").length; ++j) { if (document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").item(j).value == sDataName[1]) { document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").item(j).checked = true; //alert("lib_use set"); } } break; case ".lib_comp": if (sDataName[1] == 1) { document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").checked = true; document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").value= 1; } else { document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").checked = false; document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").value= 0; } break; default: alert("not caught = " + sDataName[0]); continue; } } } /* ]]> */ </script> <input type="checkbox" name=".lib_comp" id="lib_comp" value="1" /> The first case that i showed in my code is a radio button, and it passes correctly, i just wanted to show the "format" i was using in a working sense. The 2nd case is an example of the check boxes. Thanks for looking at this, and giving any suggestions you might have! Hi, I have what I assume started as a simple error and then trying to fix it I think I have made things so complicated I've become confused. I have two fields, a drop down list and a text field, when someone clicks on a value in a drop down list (I will show the results eventually but at the moment) I just want the result to echo in my getCategory.php and the same for the text field. Both php pages are currently being called. And at the moment contain $_REQUEST['category'] and $_REQUEST['ProductName'] respectively. Nothing is being echoed. I know the below code is wrong, but the more I try to correct it the worse it gets so I thought I would just leave it as is before I made it worse. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc1(File,ID,Msg){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try{ xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } var params=Msg; xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Pragma", "Cache-Control:no-cache"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); } </script> </head> <body> <label>Search by Category: </label> <select name="category" id="category" onchange='loadXMLDoc1("getCategory.php","txtHint","category")' class="input"> <option value="please select" selected"selected">Please Select</option> <option value="Clothes" name="Clothes" id="Clothes">Clothes</option> <option value="Bags" name="Bags" id="Bags">Bags</option> <option value="Hats" name="Hats" id="Hats">Hats</option> </select> <br /> <br /> <label>Search by name: </label> <input type="text" class="input" name="ProductName" id="ProductName" value="Search" size="30"/> <input type="button" value="Search" onclick="loadXMLDoc1('getProductName.php','txtHint', ProductName='(this.value)')" /> <br /> <br /> <div id="txtHint"></div> Dear all, I'm passing the variables myTitle and myLink to form.php using javascript. This is the way I'm doing it: Code: <a href='form.php?title=" + myTitle +"&link="+myLink+">Click me</a> It's working great but sometimes myTitle and myLink contain the plus character (+). When this happens it's not passed. In the case of the title, it's just a problem of looks but in the case of the link, well, the link won't work without the character. As an example if the title is: Laptop + Accessories What is passed is: Laptop Accessories What can I do to pass also the plus character?? Thanks a lot!! Hi, I've had problems in the past understanding this, however, after reading this tutorial, I understand. In some languages, like VB6, I notice the "byVal" and the "byRef" is specifically used. In javascript, I don't notice those specifics typed in functions. Is the "default" by value when using in a function to change a parameter? If it is, what is the syntax for using by reference, or is that ever used? My question arises from this notation taken from here: Quote: Note that it is the value that a has at the time that it is passed into the function that gets substituted into the argument and not the value that the original variable has at that point in the processing. It is the values in the parameters that the function uses and not the variables. This is called pass by value . In those languages where you can pass the actual variable into the function instead of just passing its value the method used to do so is called pass by reference . Had we been able to pass the variables into the function by reference rather than by value then the final value in b would have been -16 instead of -14. Here is the example (passing by value): Code: function myfunction(y, z) { a += y; b -= z; } var a = 0; var b = 10; var c = 3; var d = 4; var e = 2; myfunction(c, d); myfunction(d, e); myfunction(9, 2); myfunction(b, a); Results: myFunction(c, d); output: 0 + 3 = 3(y), 10 - 4 = 6(z) myFunction(d, e); output: 3 + 4 = 7(y), 6 - 2 = 4(z) myFunction(9, 2); output: 7 + 9 = 16(y), 4 - 2 = 2(z) myFunction(b, a); output: 2 + 16 = 18(y), 2 -16 = -14(z) Thanks! Hi All, I have two scripts which I want to try and integrate. I am using a nice gallery script to show thumbnails which are appended to a an image wrapper which on click of the thumbnail shows the larger image in the image wrapper, I am trying to implement cloud zoom which is a plugin which uses image srcs to then point to an anchor href to show another larger zoom image either in the same place.. which is what I am trying to do or in another div beside. I have had to set me img srcs up in a certain way to easily enter some product details. and I need to try an manipulate the code to make it work to suit my file layout. I am using a var= images [ with a series of file locations and info such as below { src: 'romanticabride/thumbs/tn_Shauna.jpg', srcBig: 'romanticabride/images/Shauna.jpg', title: 'Shauna', longDescription: '<b><H1>Shauna</H1></b><br><b>Romantica Of Devon <br><br><h2>Sizes Available:</h2><br> 6 - 32.<b><br><b><br><b><b><b><H2>Colours Available:</h2><b><br>Various<br>Please Enquire Below<br><br><br><br><a href="mailto:tracy@cherishbridal.co.uk?subject=Web Enquiry Regarding Romantica Shauna Bridal Gown"class="enquiry rose glow" >Click To Enquire About This Item </a>' }, what I need is for cloud zoom to work when the main image wrapper is hovered over which means it will need to add a class or when the whichever srcBig: is hovered over it gets wrapped by href to make the script work . one of my pages is http://www.cherishbridal.co.uk/romaticabride.html the cloud zoom script is at http://www.professorcloud.com/mainsite/cloud-zoom.htm.. I am happy to share a jsfiddle with someone or explain further or post some code. Thank you in advance I've had some help figuring out how to pass a variable through a pop-up window: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function expo(o) { var et = document.getElementById(o); if(et) { window.open( "exp.php?exportthis="+et.value, "myWindow", "status = 1, height = 300, width = 300, resizable = 0"); } } </script> <form action="" method="post"><input type=hidden value="$file" name="exportthis" ><input type=submit value=Export name= "Exp"onclick="expo('exportthis');" /> </form> However, my issue is that I have multiple forms. The forms are the same - the variables are different. The code above only works with the first variable returned. Here's an example of the problem. Code: <?PHP //for example purposes the filename will be labeled as numbers $i = 1; while ($i < 5) { echo "<form action=\"\" method=\"post\"><input type=hidden value=\"$i\" name=\"exportthis\" ><input type=submit value=\"Export\" name= \"Exp\"onclick=\"expo('exportthis');\" /></form>"; } ?> The above simple PHP script produces 5 simple forms. All of them are identical with the exception of the 'exportthis' or variable that I'm trying to pass through. They are numbered '1' to '5'. If I press the submit button for any of them only the first variable (in this case '1') is passed through. Can someone help me modify the javascript so that the right variable is passed through and not just the first one? I have a script that works in seamonkey(my html editor) but when I use it in IE8 it says errors happen. Here's the code (the first line is on line 7 of the html file): Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function enlarge(imageNum) { var numToString = ""; if(parseInt(imageNum) < 10){ numToString = "0" + imageNum; } else { numToString = imageNum + ""; } window.open("images/LgScreenshot"+numToString+".jpg","Screenshot "+imageNum,"status=0,height=675,width=900,resizable=0"); } </script> And the errors: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB0.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.3; .NET CLR 3.0.30729) Timestamp: Wed, 10 Feb 2010 14:58:16 UTC Message: Object expected Line: 150 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://samssc2site.co.cc/Features.html Message: Invalid argument. I need to display dynamic title for the image. It wont display because the page is not reloading.. How do you pass the name so it will show up without reloading? Here is the JS for switching dynamically loading the large image PHP Code: <script language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('.thumbnail').live("click", function() { $('#mainImage').hide(); $('#atitle').hide(); $('#imageWrap').css('background-image', "url('/images/ajax-loader.gif')"); var i = $('<img />').attr('src',this.href).load(function() { $('#mainImage').attr('src', i.attr('src')); $('#imageWrap').css('background-image', 'none'); $('#mainImage').fadeIn(); $('#atitle').fadeIn(); }); return false; }); }); </script> Here is the link for the thumb PHP Code: // Thumbnail Display echo '<a href="artists/'.$artist.'/'.$imgname.'.jpg" class="thumbnail"><img src="artists/'.$artist.'/previews/'.$imgname.'.jpg" border="0" /></a>'; [/PHP] Link to the large image PHP Code: // Large image display echo '<img src="artists/'.$artist.'/'.$first_image.'.jpg" alt="Main Image" id="mainImage"/>'; Here is the php echo for the title PHP Code: <? echo str_replace('"', '`', $iname); ?> I need to some how pass a php var from the thumb link to the js and have it display dynamically(without reloading) Hope I explained this correctly.. Please advise.. Thanks, Dan I think this is what I am trying to do, I am pretty new to javascript so I'm not sure... but here is my question... I got this function below. Code: function getProductInfo(id) { var sku = window.document.InvoiceForm.Item0Sku.value; alert(sku); } when I use the 0 I get the right value back, however whenever I try to pass it the id variable with a value of '0' I can't seem to compose the concatenation correct in order to recieve the correct value. I either recieve errors or the whole window.document.InvoiceForm.Item0Sku.value string back in the alert, what am I doing wrong? I'm trying to pass the following variables.
Code: var hours; var mins; in the below code, however I can't get the value but keep getting values don;t exist. here is all the code Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Classic Example</title> <script type = "text/javascript"> var totalhrs = (2* 3600); var totalmin = (180* 60); var totaltime = (totalhrs + totalmin); var timeInSecs; var ticker; var p = true; function pauseTimer() { if (p) {p=false} else { p = true; tick(); } } function startTimer(secs){ timeInSecs = parseInt(secs); ticker = setInterval("tick()",1000); } function tick() { var secs = timeInSecs; if (p) { if (secs>0) { timeInSecs--; } else { document.getElementById("but1").disabled = false; clearInterval(ticker); // stop counting at zero } } var hours= Math.floor(secs/3600); secs %= 3600; var mins = Math.floor(secs/60); secs %= 60; var result = ((hours < 10 ) ? Or is this even possible. Code: <html> <head> <title> JavaScript array passing example </title> <script type="text/javascript"> function init(){ display(addText1); display(addText2); display(addText3); display(addText4); } function display(var myText){ var newText = '<h2>' + "Will this change anything..." + '</h2>'; document.getElementById('myText').innerHTML = newText; } </script> </head> <body onload="init()"> <div id="addText1"></div> <div id="addText2"></div> <div id="addText3"></div> <div id="addText4"></div> </body> </html> Hi, I want to pass a javascript function's return value, to an anchor tag's href parameter i.e. <a href> Suppose I have a function called getTrackingCode( ) that contains a value "testSite" Code: <script language = "JavaScript"> function getTrackingCode( ) { return "testSite"; } </script> Now I want to pass this function's value to anchor's href, I have attempted these: Code: 1. <a href="http://www.helloworld.com/?id=" + getTrackingCode( )> 2. <a href="javascript: document.location= 'http://www.helloworld.com/?id=' + getTrackingCode( );"> So that the resulting URL becomes http://www.helloworld.com/?id=testSite But none of the procedures work. Please help me do it. NOTE: Please note that I can't use the function with document.write to write the whole tag because that would be very hard to manage as I will have to use it in case of text links, image links, hotspots etc. and for each I would have to write a separate function. Furthermore, I don't want the Status bar of the browsers to show something like javascript:location.href (); etc. I want the actual href link to be seen in the Status bar, as if no javascript manupulation is done. In a nutshell, the code should be reusable for the href paramater in anchor tag's href of any element, be it a text link, image link, script link, hotspot or link area and doesn't show javascript function calling in the Status bar of the browser. I've heard that I can do such a thing using ElementbyID etc. but have no idea. Please help me with this, Thanks much! Is it possible to pass the id onChange like in this example instead of the value This is part of a large complex script, and I need the id as seperate function Code: <select name='color' onChange='this.form.F1.value=this.form.color.id' > <option value='Green' id='c1'>Green <option value='Red' id='c2'>Red <option value='Blue' id='c3'>Blue </select> <input type="text" name="F1" size="15" value="" onChange="this.value=this.form.color.id"> |
