JavaScript - Dynamically Tick Checkbox?
I need help, please. How would you write javascript code to check (add tick mark) the checkbox in the below code snippet based on a condition? I have tried using the structu if(x) {document.form.name.checked=true;} but it did not work. I think the checkbox name format below, is a problem. This is all done client-side. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks for any help.

TIA Hi, Have searched the forum and found a soloution that probably only needs some modification. I have a number of question with related alternatives in a db that I display on a webpage. I wan't to force the user to select an alternative. I use checkboxes because sometimes more then one answer is correct. I have found a bit of code that lets me do this. The problem is that sometimes the alterative to the question is 3 and sometimes 5 (I don't know beforehand how many alterantives a question has). So is there a way to modify the code to work if there are 3 checkboxes or 5 checkboxes and so on...? The code below only works with a fixed number of alternatives. So here's what i want to do: i have 2 checkboxes, when Checkbox A is checked, i want to automatically check the checkbox B. When A is unchecked, then uncheck B how can i do that? thanks a lot ! I figured the reason this isn't working is the difference between appendChild and appendTo and the fact that things are jquery objects. So again the top code block renders the ads and the lower code block just shows the javascript code from the ad provider. Any help to get this to work in jquery would be grateful. What I'm actually doing is inserting the current time into an existing DIV and updating it every second. THAT all works. What I want to do is also set an event for that div.... something like this: e.event.onclick = 'runThisCode()'; Of course, the above doesn't work... and I'm not even sure what to ask for doing a Google search... because I get no hits (or maybe it's not possible). which works fine in IE8 and IE9, but in IE7 it refuses to pick up the style 'button'. I've even tried putting in btn.class='button' but JS throws up an error. If I specify the style by btn.style.position='Absolute' it picks this up OK. However, it won't respond to the onclick event either. I have heard that setAttribute is buggy with IE7, which is why I tried to specify each attribute directly. The style sheet for class button is: Code: .button

I have been over this code several times and through as many tutorials as I can fine and I still can not figure out why it does not work. Is anyone here able to point out my error? The objective of the code is to get the size in pixels of the viewport when the browser loads page, and when the browser window is resized. After obtaining that number I want to use it to set the size of my DIV to 770px if the viewport has gotten shorter than than 770, and to auto if my viewport is larger than 770. Switching between these movies is to be done through a list of links down the left-hand-side of the current movie. I would like to be able to keep the Quicktime movie player 'open' throughout this presentation, and clicking on the various links updates the current movie without the need to reload the whole webpage. Can these movies be updated dynamically somehow using perhaps javascript to change the object's "src" value and then the movie automatically loads and plays? Thanks, Awbrys. Hellooo. So I'm having trouble figuring out how to dynamically add another set of rows to a table when a button is clicked. The code below shows what goes into one set. When the button is clicked, it needs to create another three rows with the same format as the code below, but the variable names need to show what row they're on so I can easily call the values that have been inputed in another function that saves the information. Sooo for example the first variable, bhrs1-1 needs to become bhrs4-1 in the next set (because there's already a bhrs2-1 and bhrs3-1 in this set, which would become bhrs5-1 and bhrs6-1 in the new set). I have a javascript function that changes the src and href of an image within a repeating function. If i call document.getelementbyid("image").src, i can change the image and by calling document.getelementbyid("image").Href, i am able to change the link. The problem i have now is that when the cursor goes over the image it gets the link location as a snapshot. If i leave my cursor and the image and link location changes, it does not update the snapshot and if i click on the new image it uses the previous link rather than the new one. The only way to get the new link is to move off the image and back on to get a new snapshot of the new link. Is there a way i can tell the javascript to change the image, link location and update the browser to the new link without moving the cursor.

Hello, I am just going through my javascript book and looking/learning at examples. I've copied this code and i'm thinking i could really use this in my site, it's something i've been looking for on the internet for a while. I have a few questions regarding certain things and I would like to slightly change the code so it performs an additional task. I have uploaded a live example of the page as it is a lot easier for you guys to help and also easier for myself to explain properly. The file is located he JS test page. As you can see, you click the different tabs and the relative information comes up. 1)How can I change the code so that if one description is currently on-screen, when another tab is clicked, i want to hide the currently displayed information, and show the relative information to that particular tab. 2)As you can see, clicking the tabs just brings up text saying 'Description for Tab' + #. This is added using the DOM, but i want to add a lot of description and obviously do not want to put an awful lot of text into the function. What is the best way to add this content dynamically? Should I create an XML file and access this file using javascript to display the different information? I understand question 2 could be done using ajax and php but I know nothing about either so i was wondering if there was another way to achieve this? Now i have to generate the hrefs dynamically and the problem is the menus are created by the plugin so i can edit that file So i was thinking of loading the new url in hidden elemenst and when the page loads then chnage the hrefs of those menus. I want to ask that where on the page should i display the hidden elements so that when the page loads then by using JS i can chnage the href of few menu items I was thinking of doing that on the top of page but that does not look nice to have any element before body |
