JavaScript - Color Not Defined?
I am writing a greasemonkey userscript that simply just takes the underlying width of a td tag, and prints the text in white font over the table so it is viewable to everyone. I wrote the following code

however, When i installed the script.. firefox tells me that "color" is not defined. Is there another way of doing this? Just wanting the width is white font. Similar TutorialsHi! New to JS... have been trying to rework this to call additional, independent sets of colors to cycle through (so it would loop thru a set of grays, a set of primary colors, etc). I would use perhaps a different function name in the HTML to call different sets of colors. If this is more complex than I think it is, I think 3 sets would be plenty. These functions are used to show or hide div blocks. These blocks are, for example, specified in the following way: Code: <div id="l_gct5tekst" style="display:none"> <b>GCT 5. However, when using IE7 I get an error msg like "Invalid value for property". When I use the Color propert iso the BackgroundColor property I get no error anymore but of course I don't have a background color anymore then. In what way can I specify the use of a background color under IE7 ? Or is just not possible in one way or the other. Furthermore, what more differences between JS under IE7 and IE8 do I have to take into account ? Do I also have to rewrite my div block in some way (using some attribs ?) to cope with IE7 ? Now, that code above fires off AFTER I call an init function that just runs thru some things... But not only that, that function "countdwn_clear()" loads before I call the code above... so its there. Now, the "element" I am trying to attach that event handler in an anchor tag in a UL element ala. Code: <ul id="buttons" style="display: none;">

so, I originally thought it that I was trying to attach an event handler to an element in another that had a display of none -- so I switched it to block and I'd still get this error: countdwn_clear is not defined NOW -- if put this right below the function call, ala: Code: function countdwn_clear(){d_some_code_here}

In one case, i am calling it right below the function and I am using a different reference: $$("#buttons li")[1] in the code where I "build" it, I have: $('spot_btn_' + n).observe("click", function(){countdwn_clear();} ); ???? could it be the event is on the "li" instead of the "a" or ? I don't get it. Any ideas? Whole thread based on my mistake.

It says the mod_selection is not defined. I'm doing alert('hi'); for testing purposes and it won't print hi.. sooooo I feel like I need a second pair of eyes. The example from w3schools works perfectly fine as long as the XML does not have XMLNS attribute to the root element. The same example code does not work with xmlns attribute specified. Similarly, the xml I receive from my SOAP service has xmlns as below: <DescribeInstancesResponse xmlns="http://ec2.amazonaws.com/doc/2009-07-15/"> However, I am unable to read values from my xml, inspite of specifying a 'name space resolver'. I have tried with simple namespace resolver which just returns the above URI as a string and also tried creating NSResolver following the instructions given here. Some of the aspects in this function are new to me, xml stuff. Basically, I'm arranging several hundred small divs on a page. This code writes each of them onload , and checks urlArray to see if the specific div being written has a function attached to it, then enables onmouseover / onmouseout hand pointer/default pointers to it, and, of course, runs the function onclick . The script as it appears here runs great in chrome, but Firefox tells me that "main" is undefined whenever I click or roll over the div, and IE says "object expected" when I click. "main" is the name of a function defined in an external js file (though pasting the function into the main document doesn't do anything).
