JavaScript - Javascript Not Working On Sub Menu Items On Dnn Site
Hi, I really need urgent help. I am using a javascript on a DotNetNuke CMS site to allow the user to choose text/background colour, basically it changes stylesheets. Here is the code that I have used: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...etswitcher.htm and here is my example: http://lrptintranet.com.dnnmax.com/ - you can see the colour image buttons top right under the main menu. The style sheet changer seems to work on the top menu level items but as soon as you choose a submenu the javascript doesn't seem to work. I don't know anything at all about javascript - can anyone offer any advice how I can get this working on the sub menu pages?
Similar TutorialsI'm creating a menu using html, css and a javascript, I found a tutorial to follow online. What I am trying to achieve is when the mouse hovers over the menu items, each item will have a different colour background. the problem is that i can do this but it only works with one colour and not different colours. this is the html: Code: <ul> <li><a href="1.php">Things</a></li> <li><a href="2.php">Animals</a> <ul> <li><a href="2-1.php">Cani</a> <ul> <li><a href="2-1-1.php">Domestic dogs</a></li> <li><a href="2-1-2.php">Wolves</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="2-2.php">Felidae</a> <ul> <li><a href="2-2-1.php">Domestic cats</a></li> <li><a href="2-2-2.php">Wild cats</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="3.php">Humans</a></li> </ul> the css is as follows: Code: div#s1 { width: 200px; /* menu width */ } div#s1 ul { background-color: #036; list-style-type: none; /* get rid of the bullets */ padding:0; /* no padding */ margin:0; /* no margin for IE either */ } div#s1 ul li { margin: 0; padding: 0; background-color: #036; display:block; border-top: 1px solid white; /* lines */ } div#s1 ul li a { display: block; /* lines extend to right, make area clickable */ color: white; background-color: #036; padding: 3px 3px 3px 23px; margin:0; text-decoration: none; height:15px; /* hint for IE, alternatively remove whitespace from HTML */ } div#s1 ul ul li a { margin-left: 20px; /* indent level 1 */ } div#s1 ul ul ul li a { margin-left: 40px; /* indent level 2 */ } div#s1 ul ul ul ul li a { margin-left: 60px; /* indent level 3 */ } div#s1 li ul, div#s1 li.open li.closed ul { display: none; /* collapse */ } div#s1 li.open ul { display: block; /* expand */ } div#s1 ul li.open a { background-image: url(bullet_open.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; } div#s1 ul li.closed a { background-image: url(bullet_closed.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; } div#s1 ul li.leaf a { background-image: url(bullet_leaf.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; } div#s1 li.active a { background-position: 0px -20px; color: red; /* highlight text */ } div#s1 li.active li a { background-position: 0px 0px; color: white; /* fix lower levels */ } div#s1 ul li a:hover { color: red; background-color: #06C; /* rollover effect */ } and finally the javascript: Code: var menu_active_class = "active"; var menu_leaf_class = "leaf"; var menu_open_class = "open"; var menu_closed_class = "closed"; //the default page that is displayed if URL ends in / var menu_default_page = "index.php"; var menu_url; //main function //menu_id : id of the element containing the navigation function menu_main(menu_id) { var url = location.href; if (url.lastIndexOf("/") == (url.length-1)) { url = url+menu_default_page; } if (url.lastIndexOf("?") >= 0) { url = url.substring(0, url.lastIndexOf("?")); } if (url.lastIndexOf("#") >= 0) { url = url.substring(0, url.lastIndexOf("#")); } menu_url = url; var main = document.getElementById(menu_id); if (!main) alert("No element with id '"+ menu_id +"' found"); menu_traverse(main); } /* Walks down the subtree and on the way back sets properties. returns bit set 1: set = element is a node, unset = element is a leaf 2: set = element contains the active node 4: set = element is the active A node */ function menu_traverse(element) { var props = 0; // walk down for (var i=0; i<element.childNodes.length; i++) { var child = element.childNodes[i]; props |= menu_traverse(child); // aggregate bits } // on the way back now switch (element.tagName) { case "UL": props |= 1; break; case "LI": var c1 = (props & 1) ? Really need some help on this one. Hi all. I am creating a website and it utilizes the Apple Touch Icon: Code: <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/customIcon.png"/> Basically, I want to be able to change the bolded part from a drop down menu. Like, the user would select a certain item in the drop down menu and it would change the bolded part to a different link (the one corresponding to the drop down menu selection). Any ideas? Not sure how easy this is, but I would like to have 4 checkboxes that effect the items shown in a drop down menu. For example: [x] School #1 [x] School #2 [ ] School #3 The drop down (select) box will only show the majors that are offered at the checked schools. I know this involves either hiding or showing the certain elements of the drop down menu, but I'm not well versed in JS. Thanks in advance. I have a scenario where I show a drop-down-with-few-items in a JSP page, to the user. The length of few options in the drop down is greater than that of the drop down's, hence our requirement is to show the hovered (not selected) option as tooltip for user's convenience. I am not able to use title attribute for displaying tooltips in my browser. Now the code in http://dossett.org/11/No_onmouseover_for_options_in_IE/ implements a tooltip for multiple select drop down menu. Can you modify the code for single select Hi all, I having a problem. I am having 10 images, and I three places on a webpage where I want to show 3 out of those 10 images randomly. But when for example image 5 is shown on spot 1, it cannot be shown on spot 2 or 3 and the same for spot 2 and 3. Is this possible with Javascript? Greetz, Bob I create a webpage where i use pagination where it is predefined that i want to show 10 item per page. But i want to do that when a user logged in he have a option that how many items he wants to show per page?javascriptkit.com site use this type?please any one help me how can i do this?
Right now this javascript shopping cart works to 1. charge shipping based on the item, 2. the destination country, 3. it combines shipping for a quantity over 1 of the SAME item. Each item has 2 different possible shipping charges. I am trying to get the javascript to check the shopping cart to see what item in the cart has the highest possible shipping charge, charge that amount to that item, and charge the lowest possible shipping charge on all other items in the cart. If item A is purchased alone shipping is $5.00. If purchased with item B, which costs $10.00 to ship alone, the $10.00 is charged for item B and only $3.00 for item A. Because item B had the higher shipping charge at a quantity of one. I have tried adding various things like me.items[current], item.shipping, me.shipping, this.shipping, shipping_Cost, and other things next to the second && in the part of the script that shows the country. I have also tried adding && if (me.whatever) and && if (item.whatever) and similar things at the beginning of the script next to if (this.country). I have found the parts of the script that pertain to cart items and to updating the shopping cart. Now I am stuck. The javascript is in 2 parts. One part goes in the item page, which I will post first. The second part goes in an external javascript file which I will post at the bottom. In between there is the part that shows the shopping cart. It isn't part of the javascript. Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="simpleCart.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- simpleCart.checkoutTo = PayPal; simpleCart.email = "my Paypal email address"; simpleCart.cartHeaders = ["Name" , "Price" , "Quantity" , "remove" ]; CartItem.prototype.shipping=function(){ // we are using a 'country' field to calculate the shipping, // so we first make sure the item has a country if(this.country){ if( this.country == 'United States' && this.quantity == '1'){ return this.quantity*5.00; } else if( this.country == 'United States' && this.quantity >= '2') { return this.quantity*3.00; } else if( this.country == 'Belgium' && this.quantity == '1') { return this.quantity*12.00; } else if( this.country == 'Belgium' && this.quantity >= '2') { return this.quantity*9.00; else { return this.quantity*0.00; } } else { // use a default of $0.00 per item if there is no 'country' field return this.quantity*0.00; } } // --></script> Code: <div style="display:block;"></div> <div>SHOPPING CART</div> <div class="cartHeaders"></div><br><br><br> <div class="simpleCart_items"></div> <div id="totals"> Item Total: <span class="simpleCart_total"></span><br>Shipping Total: <span class="simpleCart_shippingCost"></span><br>Tax: <span class="simpleCart_taxCost"></span><br>Final Total: <span class="simpleCart_finalTotal"></span> </div> <br><br><br><br> <br><br> <a href="javascript:;" class="simpleCart_empty">Empty Shopping Cart</a><br><br> <a href="javascript:;" class="simpleCart_checkout">Checkout Through Paypal</a> </div></div> separate javascript file is here http://simplecartjs.com/documentation.html Hi everyone, now I need to add items into a dropdown list, and the items would be sorted alphabetically and it does not allow duplicate items to be added. Can anyone help take a look and see what's wrong with my code? Javascript Code: function addAnotherOption() { var newItem = document.getElementById("Text44"); if (!newItem.value == "") { var answer = confirm ("Are you sure you want to add? ") if (answer)//if answer is true { var lst = document.getElementById('comboBox'); // listbox control id // Now we need to create a new 'option' tag to add to MyListbox var newOption = document.createElement("option"); newOption.value = newItem.value; // The value that this option will have newOption.innerHTML = newItem.value; // The displayed text inside of the <option> tags for (var i = 0; i < lst.options.length; i++) { arrTexts = lst.options[i].text; if (arrTexts.toLowerCase() == newItem.toLowerCase()) { alert ("That option is already included in the list - please enter another item."); return false; } else { // Finally, add the new option to the listbox lst.appendChild(newOption); //sort items in listbox in alpha order arrTexts = new Array(); for(i=0; i<lst.length; i++) { arrTexts[i] = lst.options[i].text; } arrTexts.sort(); for(i=0; i<lst.length; i++) { lst.options[i].text = arrTexts[i]; lst.options[i].value = arrTexts[i]; } } } } } else { if(newItem.value == "") { alert("Key something to textbox please."); } else alert("Cancelled."); } } HTML Code: <input id="Text44" type="text" /> <input id="Submit22" type="submit" value="Add" onclick="addAnotherOption()" /><br /> <select name="combo" id= "comboBox" style="width: 323px"> <option value="H">Hearts</option> <option value="D">Diamonds</option> <option value="C">Clubs</option> <option value="S">Spades</option> </select> Hi, I would like to prevent the addition of duplicate items in the following situation. Firstly, I have a listbox with a few options such as Code: <select id="listbox" name="listbox" multiple="multiple" style="width: 580px;"> <option>Java</option> <option>PHP</option> <option>Perl</option> <option>Javascript</option> <option>C#</option> <option>Powershell</option> </select> Next, I have a submit button with a textbox. The user will be able to submit new options into the listbox via the textbox and submit button. Therefore, I need to prevent the user from entering duplicate items into the listbox. How should I do? The following code is used to add items into the listbox. Code: function addItem() { var lst = document.getElementById('listbox'); // listbox control id var newItem = prompt("Enter New Item","Enter Value Here"); //Option object is created for every option in a selection //new Option([text[, value[, defaultSelected[, selected]]]]) // Syntax if(newItem == null) { return false; } else { lst.options[lst.length] = new Option(newItem, newItem, false, false); return false; } } I have a website at: http://www.zionism101.org/defaultfornow.aspx The page works on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and IE-9. It sort-of works on IE-8, however, the problem is that on IE-8, there is about 2 seconds where everything is shown on top of everything else in a mess. This is bad. The website is unusual in that it uses a menu to slide screens from right to left. This has implications. For instance, I need the menu to appear on all screens, so I use absolute positioning, and then use javascript to calculate the center position. The same goes for a logo image. And on top of that, some screens (which are really DIVs) have items positioned by absolute and relative positioning within them, and those positions are often calculated via javascript (and then set). On IE-8, the result is not good. I think what is happening is that the browser first shows everything as it appears before javascript is run, and then slowly the javascript is run, which puts everything in the correct position. So initially, not only is everything in the wrong position, but different DIVs appear on top of each other. I could tell every user to get IE-9 or chrome, but thats not a good solution. Thanks, Gid P.S. one solution might be to make the screen go black for an instant, until everything has settled down. If thats the only solution, how would I do that? P.P.S. there are actually 3 pages in the site: the login page, the logout page, and the founders page. Everytime the user switches between them, the jumble for 2 seconds occurs. Hi,
I have designed a site. It's working properly in locally.
Now I want to insert a special javascript on my home page.
The job of that special javascript is, makes some errors in the site when site is going to publish on internet.
The site should run on locally but not on server I know that's a strange requirement . But that's a test for me... Is there any, this kind of special javascript...??? please help me. thanx Hello, We have jcarousel on our forum site which rotates automatically. It is vbulletine forum. In fact originally it was working fine with old design and rotating images automatically in horizontal direction with a set of 5 images visible at a time and total 12 images in set. But we have upgraded our forum design in last week and I started getting issues with Jcarousel scroller. Our site URL is http://newtest.naturalparenting.com.au Please go at any topic and post page finally, Below first post there is a scroller e.g http://newtest.naturalparenting.com....ad.php?t=42713 While old site design is still active at http://ninad.naturalparenting.com.au Please go at any topic and post page finally, Below first post there is a scroller e.g http://ninad.naturalparenting.com.au...ad.php?t=40745 At new design when we implemented jcarousel scroller it is showing only one image in a horizontal row at jscroller and it disappears immediately and after 3-4 min it do reappear again. When I inspected it using firebug I have noticed that other images are coming below vertically not horizontally, really strange. Also I noticed another thing is that it is not updating width at element.style in firebug for UL tag. It is showing fix width 220 px all time. I think due to that all images appearing vertically one after one rather than horizontally. It is really very strange issue for me. I have tried all ways to fix it but alas !!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any help would be very much appreciated... I have a feature on my website that allows users to choose the website background (using alternate css sheets) and then uses an externally linked javascript file to store the background choice as a cookie so it is consistent throughout the website. This works perfectly locally (i.e. when previewing my website on my computer) but now it is uploaded to my host it doesn't appear to be working. (with the same browser) My javascript is he http://www. b r p - e n v .com/javascript/backgroundchange.js (with no spaces) The website that the javascript file is linked to is http://www. b r p - e n v .com (with no spaces) In the head I have: <script type="text/javascript" src="../javascript/backgroundchange.js"></script> ...then I have: <body onload="set_style_from_cookie()"> ...and for users to choose which background: <form> <input type="image" src="../images/white-background-thumb.jpg" onclick="switch_style('bg1');return false;" name="theme" value="White" id="bg1"> etc... </form> My problem is: The background reverts back to the default when moving to a different page. This would indicate that the background choice is not being saved in cookies. But this works locally! I have tried putting the javascript directly onto each page but I still had the same problem. I hope someone can help, I will be so grateful if I can get this to work.
