JavaScript - How To Create Clickable Link In Javascript?
I have called a table through XML with four fields. One of them is Excel file name. I like to make a clickable link with Excel file name to open it.
XML code: Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <searchable_index> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> </searchable_index> Javascript code document.write('<table border="1" style="width: 100%;">'); document.write('<tr><th>name</th><th>title</th><th>link</th></tr>'); for(var i=0; i<results.length; i++) { document.write('<tr>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("name") + '</td>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("title") + '</td>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("link")" > + '</td>'); //<a href="url">Link text</a> document.write('</tr>'); } document.write('<table>'); document.close(); Similar TutorialsI have created a slideshow before but I want to create a slideshow where a person clicks on a link and it goes to a certain picture which might have one or more links embedded into the picture something like this: http://www.myeloma.org.uk/ any guides on how to do this? help much appreciated Hi! Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm using Javascript so it kinda made sense I have some Javascript that is selecting text from a form textarea and copying it to the clipboard: Code: document.myForm.myTextarea.focus(); document.myForm.myTextarea.select(); document.execCommand( 'Copy' ); This works great. However there is a problem when I try to paste the text somewhere else. Assuming that the text that is being copied is a URL ( ie. http://www.google.com ), I would like it to be pasted as a link. When I grab a URL from the address bar inside a web browser and paste it somewhere ( such as an e-mail ), it automatically shows up as a clickable link. When I put a URL into my form textarea and run the javascript, it gets pasted as a plain text ( ie. not underlined and not clickable ). Why are these two different? I've tried running a program to see what is actually copied into the clipboard and I don't see any differences. There must be something that denotes the URL copied from the address bar as a link and therefore makes it clickable when pasted. Is there a way to force this in order to make what is copied to the clipboard from my form textarea a clickable link? Thanks! My slideshow links will only open inside my inline frame. I'm sure there's something simple I need to change in the code to make it open full screen. Here is my code. Any help would be so much appreciated! Thank you. Shawnel <head> <style type="text/css"> .style1 { vertical-align: top; } </style> </head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- //preload images var image1=new Image() image1.src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox1.jpg" var image2=new Image() image2.src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox2.jpg" var image3=new Image() image3.src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox3.jpg" var image4=new Image() image4.src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox4.jpg" var image5=new Image() image5.src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox5.jpg" //--> </script> <body style="margin-top: 0"> <a href="javascript:slidelink()"><img src="Images/Picture Box/PictureBox1.jpg" name="slide" border="0" width="539" height="314" class="style1" /></a> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var step=1 var whichimage=1 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") whichimage=step if (step<5) step++ else step=1 setTimeout("slideit()",3000) } slideit() function slidelink(){ if (whichimage==1) window.location="learnmore.htm" else if (whichimage==2) window.location="contactus.htm" else if (whichimage==3) window.location="hungerheroes.htm" else if (whichimage==4) window.location="donate.htm" else if (whichimage==5) window.location="volunteer.htm" } //--> </script> First, I did this for testing Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var cururl = window.location.href + "?style=1" document.write(cururl); //--> </script> and it works. It gets the current url of the page and appends ?style=1 then writes out the URL. However getting it as a clickable link is what's stumping me. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function goURL() { window.location.href + "?style=1" } //--> </script> <a href="javascript:goURL()">Go There</a> Doesn't work in my test. As you can probably see, I'm not very well versed in javascript. I would like to create a link from one page to another. Easy - I know. But I would like that link to to take me to a certain part of the other page, specifically towards the bottom of the page. Is that possible to do? And if so, what are the different ways I can specify where in the page to go? (i.e. what are the parameters that I can play with) Thanks! Hello, I'm trying to create a textarea using Javascript, the function creates a textarea in IE, but it does not create that element in Firefox and chrome. JavaScript Code:- Code: function addRow() { alert("function start"); var table = document.getElementById('tableId'); var rowCount = table.rows.length; var row = table.insertRow(rowCount); var cell1 = row.insertCell(0); var textNode = document.createTextNode(rowCount + 1); cell1.appendChild(textNode); var cell2 = row.insertCell(1); var textArea = zxcFormField('TEXTAREA','option1'); textArea.setAttribute("cols","20"); textArea.style.height = "42px"; textArea.style.width = "496px"; cell2.appendChild(textArea); alert("function end"); } function zxcFormField(tag, nme, type){ alert("2 function start"); var el; try { alert("In Try"); el=document.createElement('<'+tag+(type?' type='+type:'')+' name='+nme+' >'); } catch (e){ alert("In Catch"); el=document.createElement(tag); if (type) el.type=type; el.name=nme; } return el; } When I call this function it goes in the catch block in Firefox and Chrome, the textarea is displayed and it disappears with a flash. I've banged my head against wall trying to figure this out. Thanks, Abhishek Hi i need to use an equivalent of the php function array_count_values() Any help with that please cheers ewire I'm writing a script in javascript(actually a chrome extension) and I need an object that I can write to it like this(sorry, don't know how to explain it better) and then I convert it to string with format of json. Code: id[129].weekDay[6].hour[23] = 0 Here, id is an array, that each element in it contain another array(weeksDay) and in that array each contain another array(hour). The id indices are unlimited, for weekDay 7 and hour 24. I searched in google but i couldn't find what I wanted. Actually don't know the best keyword to search.(objects in arrays?) I don't know what exactly it is called, I can write it's declaration in VB.NET if that helps you. I need to create an interactive map similar to the one on this site: http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/#!/map/ It is a map of a fictional area ( a real area but there are fictional buildings and characters on it) so I don't think google maps plugins are suitable. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so if anybody has a good suggestion of a good jquery/javascript solution for interactive maps, please refer me to the relevant information. In other words, I need a map where by clicking the objects on the map, a popup window pops up with additional information about the 'scene' or a 'character'. In addition, the map will be dark from the beginning and more and more sites and characters will be revealed on it every week. The only reason I'm using JS on a URL is because my link opens a PDF file, and I'm forcing it not to cache so users have the latest version. I tried the <script><noscript> tags, but I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly, as my URL completely disappears. Below is my HTML/Javascript code: <p class="download"> <script type="text/javascript">document.write("<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\" onclick=\"window.open( 'http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf?nocache='+ Math.floor( Math.random()*11 ) );\" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB) ");</script> <noscript><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB)</noscript> </p> Thanks for any help, Michael Hi... is there a way to create iframes using cookies and javascript ? What i need to do is to have a way to create a cookie on page one, and use the info on page two to create the iframe. Users will see a list of "external links", once they click on a link, they will be redirected to a page that will generate a iframe of the chosen link. My guess is that if there is a way, it must need to use cookies to store the info (url) to get used by the script that will create the iframe on the page that will be used to show all iframes. Any ideas or help with this will be apriciated. Sorry for my poor english. Hi, I am in need of creating a image toolbox in a web browser using javascript. Please find the requirements below. 1) The toolbox will contain some images within it. The toolbox can be moved anywhere within the window. 2) It is possible to drag and drop a image clone from the toolbox to the window. 3) It should be possible to click on the image in the toolbox and can be placed when click on the window (at the clicked position). 4) on double clicking the image in the toolbox, the selected image should get cleared. Please provide suggestion as well as the code snippets to achieve the requirements. Kindly reply ASAP. Thanks, Vinoth.K I know I can use the functions like parseFromString() to access and modify an existing XML documents, but is it possible to use JavaScript to create a blank xml document? I want to take data entered into the client, package it up as XML and use ajax to transmit it to the server. So far I've written my own class to create a simple xml document, but I'd like to do it properly with the inbuilt functions. I read the posting guidelines but I still have questions that I would love to be answered by anyone willing to tolerate me. I started studying javascript when I decided that I wanted to create a dynamic webpage after viewing some books that were made to pageflip with Javascript and after viewing a ton of animations. So I figured since everyone keeps saying Javascript is simple that if all I wanted to do was to make a book extend outwards on mouseover and then open up on click and flip pages which they already have a code for that it wouldn't be so difficult. I've read everything I could practiced a little bit, I'm not fluent but I do have a goal and a time. The problem for me comes up with figuring out what I need to do in order to make it appear as if the book is coming out of a book shelf. There is a lot of information on animations where flat objects rise above clouds. I am thinking that I would have to use some sort of sprite of a row of books both sorta sideways where you can see the side of the book as well as the edge, and both a row of books on a shelf, or perhaps a row of books with some of the books being pulled out and then on mouse over animate the scene so that it looks like the book is being pulled out. Would that work? Or is there a simpler way? Another way or I don't know. Is there a code that can make it look like a book is extending outwards without an animation or would I need to create an animation for that? Thank you. How do I use JavaScript or JavaScript API to implement camera viewing?
