I have the following code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function timedMsg() { document.write("Timed Messege."); } And the button: Code: <form> <input type="button" value="Display timed alertbox!" onClick="timedMsg()" /> </form>[ I guess document.write is not the correct command to use in such situations, since it just replaces the whole page. Which command should I use so that the wanted text appears within the page, without reloading or replacing it? Thanks in advance. I could not find a proper command in my search. Hi there! I need help! Basically, I need to create a sentence and on one of the words the person accessing the site can click the word and it will change to another word and then again to a third word and so on for 5 words then it will, on click, return to the 1st word again. like a circle of various words. I've managed to get it to work with 2 words back and forth - but I need it to have multiple states. I need the JS and how to impliment it in the HTML. JS isnt my strong point just yet Please help me! Thanks so so much! follow me on twitter - @robyn_90 Is the hiding/showing of text fields done differently than for buttons? I ask because I have the following text field: Code: <input type="text" name="case_id_c" class="sqsEnabled" tabindex="0" id="case_id_c" size="" value="" > And if I call the following javascript, this field disappears: Code: document.getElementById('case_id_c').style.display = 'none'; However, I have the following button: Code: <input type="button" name="btn_clr_case_id_c" tabindex="0" title="Clear [Alt+C]" accessKey="C" class="button" onclick="this.form.case_id_c.value = ''; value="Clear"> And if I run the following code, nothing happens: Code: document.getElementsByName("btn_clr_case_id_c").style.display = 'none'; Not sure what's going on. Any thoughts??? Hi, I'm having a problem trying to get my html web form to work. I have a list of 8 radio button options for people to choose one option with the last option being other - and then I want if the user clicks other that the text field box next to it becomes a required field and the form will not submit until this text field is filled in. If the user selects one of the other radio button options then the text field is not compulsory. I am using a linked javascript validation file which checks that all fields on the form which I have stated as required - become required, but I am having problems getting this "Other" button and text field to work with it all and not have the submit continue without this text field being completed! any help would really be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Hi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. But how can I make the URL? And how is it called? posting URL request? I will be using firefox or I can make HTML file & execute it in IE for every file. PHP Code: <form action="http://uploading.com/files/get/S4WYPP73/" method="post" id="downloadform"> <input type="hidden" name="action" value="second_page" /> <input type="hidden" name="file_id" value="4663720" /> PHP Code: function do_step_1() { do_request('files', 'get', {file_id: 4663720, action: 'step_1'}, function(wait_time){ if(wait_time > 0) start_timer(wait_time); else if(wait_time <= 0) download(); }); } function do_step_2() { do_request('files', 'get', {file_id: 4663720, action: 'step_2'}); } PHP Code: function download() { $('#waitblock').html('Free Download'); $('#waitblock').click(function(){ do_step_2(); }); } Hello, I am working on a tool for hardware quoting, I'm currently trying to add a button for adding line items to the quote. Here is what I currently have: The HTML: Code: <html> ... <input type="button" id="sbutt" onclick="buttinc()" value="Click Me" /> <div id="txtarea"></div> ... </html> The script: Code: vbutt = 0 function buttinc() { var buttona = document.getElementById("txtarea"); if (vbutt<100) { buttona.innerHTML="<div id='newdiv" + vbutt + "'></div><br />"; var buttb = document.getElementById("newdiv"+vbutt); buttb.innerHTML = "some text" + vbutt + "close tags and stuff"; vbutt = vbutt + 1; } } Now, it is sort of working the way I expect. When the button is clicked, it creates the new div, starts the id at 0, and increments the div id each time the button is pressed afterwards. It also displays the text (buttb.innerHTML) in the new div. However, it only increments the id of the same div, it doesn't create a new div under the first one. What I am hoping for is: click 1 : <div id="newdiv0">0</div> click 2 : <div id="newdiv1">1</div> click 3 : <div id="newdiv2">2</div> etc What it is doing: click 1 : <div id="newdiv0">0</div> click 2 : <div id="newdiv1">1</div> (newdiv0 disappears) click 3 : <div id="newdiv2">2</div> (newdiv1 disappears) What am I missing? Any help is appreciated. I want to show an hourglass instead of a mouse pointer on click of a button. I'm having both client and server side validations on the button click event. I have written the code for hourglass in the javascript function along with the validations. Now, on click of the button the hourglass gets displayed after 3-4 seconds and not immediately. According to me, the hourglass is getting displayed after the javascript function(client side validation) is executed and before server side validation begins. Is there any way to display the hourglass without delays ? Kindly let me know if there is any fix for eliminating this delay. I hope my question is clear. Please let me know if i'm wrong somewhere as i'm new to javascript programming. Thanks in advance. zizou. hi to all, sorry for this question. First I have to say this that I'm very noob in javascript. My question is how to show the value of my radio button when click. I have this code: Code: <tr><td width="10px"></td><td width="60%">Neatness</td> <td width="40%"> <input name="neat" type="radio" class="hover-star" value="1" title="Poor"/> <input name="neat" type="radio" class="hover-star" value="2" title="Fair"/> <input name="neat" type="radio" class="hover-star" value="3" title="Satisfactory"/> <input name="neat" type="radio" class="hover-star" value="4" title="Outstanding"/> </td></tr> say when my 1st radio button it will show 1 or so on.. How can I achieve this? Or better yet does anyone know hot to do this in jquery. How can I do this? I'm new to JavaScript. I tried messing with While but it just caused lag as it kept looping infinitely. The problem I think is that I have a variable that changes every time I click the button. The function changes the variable. So it successfully changes the variable once to my likings, then when I click the button (thus running the function) it does nothing. Here's an example I created to show you Quote: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var x = 50; var y = Math.floor(Math.random()*5); function test() { var a = x+y document.getElementById("testing").innerHTML=a; } </head> <body> <p id="testing"></p> <input type="button" value="asdf" onclick="test()" /> </body> </html> So in this case, I need to click the button multiple times in which each time it should add y to x. It only works once and then goes kaput. Thanks! Hello I am new to javascript (4 months), I would like to add an hour to the current time each time a button is clicked.
