JavaScript - Capture Parameter From Iframe To Main.html
I have the following HTML code in main.html:
Quote: ............. ............. <tr align="right"> <td width="50%"> ... ... ... </td> <td width="50%"> <iframe src="../createproject.html width="100%" height="400pt" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"> </iframe> </td> </tr> ........... ........... and createproject.html: Quote: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../user.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="../projects.js"></script> <head> <body onload="return capture_profile()"> <div align="right" class="data-font"> <form action="/cgi-bin/createproj.cgi" method="POST"> <fieldset> ....... ....... ....... </fieldset> </form><br/> </div> </body> </html> I'd like capture with capture_profile() function in createproject.html a value into main.html page. How can I solve this problem with javascript? Similar TutorialsFirst, apologies I'm a newbie with javascript. Here's the problem: I have javascript in an iframe that controls showing/hiding of divs. This works great, but after the javascript is executed it changes the behavior of anchor tags of the main window of the website (namely - links in the main window all open in new windows and not in the specified target iframe). I've searched and searched and looked up all sorts of things, rendering me a confused and frustrated fellow. here's the script: <script language="javascript"> function show(thechosenone) { var newboxes = document.getElementsByTagName("div"); for(var x=0; x<newboxes.length; x++) { name = newboxes[x].getAttribute("name"); if (name == 'newboxes') { if (newboxes[x].id == thechosenone) { newboxes[x].style.display = 'block'; } else { newboxes[x].style.display = 'none'; } } } } </script> and in the body: <a id="myHeader2" href="javascript:show('myDiv');" >click here to show div</a> ANY help is greatly appreciated! Ok, 'nother head-banger for the hardcore! I have a "contact us" <a> with the id 'contact' on the main page, which is supposed to change the source file of an iframe to the contact page. Except when I click on "contact us" nothing happens. I've tried to get this to work several different ways, and suspect that the problem is purely syntax, but I just haven't been able to figure it out. Here's the code: The snippet on the main page (index.html): Code: <div id="linkListContact" class="LinkList"> <img id="linkListContactBg" class="SideBarBgImg" src="Assets/Backgrounds/SideBar/ContactBg.png"></img> <span> <ul> <li> <div><a id="contact">Contact Us</a> </div> </li> </ul> </span> </div> ... and the relevant Javascript: Code: function setIFrame(frameSource) { document.getElementById('mainWindow').src = frameSource; } function setContactLink() { var contactURL = "http://katabasis.spreadshirt.com/shop/imprint" document.getElementById('contact').onclick = new Function ( "setIFrame( 'contactURL' )" ); } The setIFrame function is used to call the content initially when the page loads, and is working beautifully in that context. You can see the problem in action at the actual site: www.katabasis-apparel.com. Thanks. Hi, I have a search box he http://www.michael-williams.com.au/index.html I am using the below Java Script and form code to pass the entered value to search.html: <script type="text/javascript"> function searchVerify() { if(document.search.qt.value=="Enter keywords...") document.search.qt.value="";return true;} </script> <form id="search" method="get" action="search.html" onsubmit="return searchVerify()"> <p><input type="hidden" name="col" value="eu" ID="Hidden1"/><input type="hidden" name="style" value="nonpbs" ID="Hidden2"/><input type="hidden" name="nh" value="50" ID="Hidden3"/></p> <p style="float:left;"><label for="Search">Search:</label><input id="Text1" name="qt" type="text" value="Enter keywords..." class="textfield" onfocus="this.value=''" /><input type="submit" value="Go" class="button" ID="Submit1" NAME="Submit1"/></p> </form> I want to know how I can pass the entered value into the google search in the iframe on search.html. Can anyone help with this issue? Thanks. Hi my code returns all the html of the iframe. I would like just the body html. Any one know how to amend to suit? Code: alert( $("#uploaderIframe").contents()[0].documentElement.innerHTML ); I have a html where the user will just need to keyin the .pdf value and it will retrieve the file and it will be copied to local drive for certain reason. Once it's copied to local file, it will be display in IE. After the user has finished reading the .pdf, the user will click on one button to reload the html. Now I want to add in a delete function to delete the local saved .pdf. When I try to call the function after my "window.location.reload()" , the delete function will definitely not running. So, is it possible to close the .pdf file with javascript first, then delete the local saved .pdf, then here we reload the html ? Thanks for suggestion. Note : The .pdf will be display in the same window and same tab of IE. Whole html will be running in only one tab and window. Code: function reloadPage() { window.location.reload() remove(); } function remove() { var sBnr = document.getElementById("txtBnr").value; var myObject; var fso = myObject = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); fso.DeleteFile("C:\\eBondingDiagram\\" + sBnr + ".pdf"); } I save an Access query as an HTML file (query.html) I then load an HTML page (TopStyle.html). This loads the query.html. I want query.html to autoscroll to the end of the page, and then either scroll to the top or just start again. [code] <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript" ></script> <title>How to Scroll the Page With JavaScript</title> <meta name="description" content="How to scroll the page automatically using JavaScript." /> <meta name="keywords" content="javascript, page, scroll" /> <script type="text/javascript"> function pageScroll() { window.scrollBy(0,50); scrolldelay = setTimeout('pageScroll()',10000); // scrolls every 1000 milliseconds } </script> </head> <iframe src="file:///D:/PrivateDocs/WorkflowPage/Query1.html" name="frame1" scrolling="auto" frameborder="no" style="float:left" height = "100%" width = "100%"></iframe> <body> <body onLoad="pageScroll()"> </body> </html> [icode] Problem 1 is I can't get the height 100% to work. I get a box about 150px high. Problem two is the main HTML page does a small scroll but how do I get the Query in the Iframe to scroll? All help appreciated. Harle Hey the Title basically says I need a way to read the iframe url even when you navigate to a different page it will read again and keep tracking where the URL is on. Thank you Hi I own two websites, site1.com and site2.com site1.com is Java jsp site2.com is Apache php I don't know if this is possible I think no but at least let me clear what I am plaining to do. The site1.com has the following form and I want the data submitted to that form get stored in site2.com. The form in brief is as following : Code: <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="SaveName.jsp"> What's your name? <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=username SIZE=20><BR> What's your e-mail address? <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=email SIZE=20><BR> What's your age? <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=age SIZE=4> <P><INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT> </FORM> Regards I have an HTML page that is making use of JQUERY and many other JQUERY plugins. Inside this HTML page there are 2 different types of iFrames that display PHP forms. One is a normal iFrame: Code: <iframe height="740" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" style="width:100%;border:none;overflow-x:hidden" src="https://www.website.com/machform/embed.php?id=9" title="Contact Us"><a href="https://www.website.com/machform/view.php?id=9" title="Contact Us">Contact Us</a></iframe> The other makes use of a JQUERY plugin called Shadowbox: Code: <a href="https://www.website.com/machform/embed.php?id=8" rel="shadowbox;width=1100;height=950;player=iframe" class="button1"><span></span><strong>Click Here</strong></a> Inside these iFrames are PHP forms from a PHP form application called MachForm, which is highly customizable. Here are the questions. Ultimately, I want to accomplish 2 things: 1. I would like to send variable information from the PHP form in the iFrame to my HTML page, to be displayed within javascripts. For example: If someone fills out a PHP form in my iFrame and clicks submit, I want to have a JQUERY popup say, "Thank you, [NAME]". 2. When the user submits the form, the action of clicking the submit button in the PHP form should enable #1, above. There needs to be a way to tell the HTML/Javascript that the submit button on the PHP form in the iFrame has been clicked. I realize this is all fairly vague, especially without the addition of more code. However, I am not even sure if I am posting this in the correct forum, since it incorporates a little of several languages and styles. From this point any direction or idea would be very helpful! I can't seem to capture keystrokes (via onkeydown) in Firefox. Now before you judge too quickly, here is a snippet that DOES work in Firefox -- but only by itself; not when pasted into my program: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <script language=javascript> <!-- function vProcessKeyboard(e) { e = e || window.event; var code = e.keyCode || e.which; document.getElementById("chardisplay").innerHTML = code; } //--> </script> <body> <script language=javascript> <!-- document.onkeydown = vProcessKeyboard //--> </script> <div id="chardisplay"></div> </body> </html> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's my question: What would cause the above code to fail, when used in a larger, more complicated webpage? If I debug my webpage (using FireBug 1.4.5), I note that "onkeydown" indeed points to my keyboard handler. But when I put a simple debug message in that handler, I get absolutely nothing -- no matter what code I paste in the keyboard handler, it doesn't run. No matter how many keys I press! I run the same program in Internet Explorer and it runs fine. I run the keyboard code by itself in Firefox and it runs fine. I've spent about 10 hours Googling this, and all I can find is discussions of how to capture keystrokes in Firefox vs. IE. I found about 20 different variations on the code I pasted above. The "program" I'm trying to use with this keyboard capture code with is a large browser game -- a glorified webpage, even if it behaves like a Windows game -- with hundreds of objects (divs). There are several layers of graphics to make the game happen. I'm just trying to figure out what is FUNDAMENTALLY different between my large program and a simple webpage, when it comes to something simple like keyboard capture. Is it the size, in bytes, of my webpage? Is it the large number of DIVs? The large number of functions? Incidentally, I'm not using Frames. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Matthew Dear Friends, I am breaking my head over this since yesterday. Can anyone help me with a javascript which can be used to replace the inner text (count of downloads) with new text based on how many people save my image using Right-Click Save Image As option. Thank you PS: Without database support. Code: <table border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1" width="200"> <tbody> <tr> <td><img border="0" id="s1" alt="" src="s1.gif" /></td> <td><img border="0" id="s2" alt="" src="s2.gif" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: center">7 Download(s)</td> <td style="text-align: center">1 Download(s)</td> </tr> <tr> <td><img border="0" id="s3" alt="" src="s3.gif" /></td> <td><img border="0" id="s4" alt="" src="s4.gif" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: center">0 Download(s)</td> <td style="text-align: center">10 Download(s)</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Hi. Please help. I have a credit card donation page and what I wanted to do is after they click the submit button and transaction is successfult I wanted to capture the donation amount they enter from the donation page and show it to the next page. I know that is possible but I just don't know how to do it. I am new in Javascript and still consider as a baby. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.
I have a web application (Javascript) that captures keyboard input. The code works independently -- in fact, I've tried several different variations/code snippets that other people have used/recommended. They all work, and are functionally equivalent. But here's the clincher -- my whole program works fine -- keyboard and all -- once I run Venkman's Javascript debugger and then return to my program window! It's as if Venkman's is doing something (setup, initialization) that my program isn't. What could it be though? Thanks, Matthew Here is the keyboard portion of my program: Code: function keyboard_handler(e) { e = e || window.event; var keyunicode = e.charCode || e.keyCode var KeyID = e.keyCode || e.which; vDebugPrint("Keyboard pressed: " + KeyID); vDebugPrint("Unicode: " + keyunicode); } document.onkeydown = keyboard_handler; Hi all, I hope you can help I have some code which: 1) Opens a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirects the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) after it has loaded... This works exactly as I need. What I'd like to do is the following: 1) Open a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirect the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) in a full-screen iframe 3) The address bar of the full-screen iframe should be my domain (obviously!) Here's what I have so far... Hidden iframe -> New URL Code: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var page_body = document.getElementsByTagName('body'); var myframe = document.createElement('iframe'); var id = Math.random(); myframe.setAttribute('id', 'myFrame'+id); myframe.src = 'http://google.com'; //First open Google in hidden iframe myframe.setAttribute('frameborder', '0') myframe.setAttribute('width', '0'); myframe.setAttribute('height', '0'); if (myframe.attachEvent) { myframe.attachEvent('onload', function() { top.location = 'http://yahoo.com'; //Once loaded redirect to Yahoo -- but the address bar shows yahoo.com -- I want the address bar to display mydomain.com/page.html }); } else if (myframe.addEventListener) { myframe.addEventListener('load', function() { top.location = ('http://yahoo.com'); }, false); } page_body[0].appendChild(myframe); </script> </body> </html> I have an example of some code which displays the full screen iframe, but my problem is... ...I can't figure out how to redirect to this after the hidden iframe has loaded Here's an example of how I want the redirect to display -- after the initial hidden iframe has loaded: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function sendParams() { document.body.style.overflow = "hidden"; } </script> </head> <body> <!--Open Yahoo.com in a full screen iframe, and disable extra scrollbar --> <iframe height="100%" width="100%" frameBorder="no" onload="sendParams()" src="http://yahoo.com"></iframe> </body> </html> I've been beating my head against the wall today trying to figure this out, and I'm fresh out of ideas. If you can help, you'll have some serious gratitude and good karma thrown your way! Best wishes, and thanks in advance, Paul Is there a way to resize an iframe dynamically so that you never get the scroll bar and essentially hide that there is an iframe? Better integration really. Basically I want to iframe a forum into my site so that the design down the sides and top which my friend does using iweb are not messed with. We have a central area which can be longer or shorter depending on the forum. |
