JavaScript - Javascript Slider Messing Up The Rest Of The Site....need Help!
OK, a friend and I have been working on implementing the javascript slider you see in the header of my website http://www.billboardfamily.com (hover over the facebook icon under the search area).
For some reason, this is causing a lot of the other items on the site to stop functioning all together. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this? NOTE: Running Wordpress Here are some of the problems: 1) http://billboardfamily.com/videos/ The thumbnail videos do not work when you click them 2) http://billboardfamily.com/the-process/ All 4 slides are on the page, but the slider is not working at all. 3) http://billboardfamily.com/contact-us/ The contact forms I have running are not working correctly, and the styling is no longer correct. Similar TutorialsAt least, I think it is. On my test site (http://goo.gl/P4SLu), you'll see that the URL first goes to "emineer.com/thesis/," but then quickly changes to "emineer.com/thesis/#page=tabsservices" which refers to a piece of .js I have lower on the page (the tabbed navigation). Is there a way for me to configure this js or CSS so that the URLs are unchanged? I know it's possible because my main site functions perfectly fine: (emineer.com). The code on my main site is just clunky so I decided to start from scratch. Any help here? I'd really like my URLs clean and free of any tags or anything like that. Thanks, Brandon This is the weirdest thing I've come across in awhile. I have some code that formats a input field for a date format. This code runs fine on all browser when the form tag isn't wrapped around the inputs. The second I wrap the form tag around the inputs everything messes up. The Javascript error I'm getting is "Object doesn't support this property or method." on line 45 which is the line of the date input field. I'm totally clueless what I'm doing wrong here. And so I'll leave it up to you the wonderful community to give me some help. Thanks, Jon W Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html leng="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function dob(val,e) { if(e.keyCode != 8) { if(val.length == 2 || val.length == 5) { if(val.match(/[\/]$/) != "/") { document.getElementById('dob').value += "/"; } } var regex = /[a-zA-Z]|\+|\-|\&|\\|\(|\)|\%\|\$|\#|\@|\*|\_|\?|\>|\<|\,|\./; if(val.match(regex)) { newStr = val.replace(regex,''); document.getElementById('dob').value = newStr; } } } </script> <style type="text/css">@import url(/css/home.css);</style> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="header"> <div id="logo"><a href="/index.php"><img src="/images/logo.png" /></a></div> </div> <div id="container-arrow"></div> <div id="container"> <img src="/images/no_image.png" /> <div id="sign-container"> <span class="sign-header"> Sign Up </span> <div id="sign-arrow-up"></div> <div id="sign-content"> <form method="post" action="/account/index.php" name="sign"> <label for="email">Email</label><input name="email" class="sign-inputs" type="text" /> <p> </p> <label for="password">Password</label><input name="password" class="sign-inputs" type="password" /> <p> </p> <label for="dob">Date Of Birth</label> <input type="text" name="dob" style="text-align:center;" maxlength="10" class="sign-inputs" id="dob" value="MM/DD/YYY" onkeyup="dob(this.value,event);" onkeydown="dob(this.value,event);" onfocus="if(this.value=='MM/DD/YYY') this.value='';" title="MM/DD/YYY" /> <p> </p> <input name="submit" type="submit" class="sign-submit" value="Sign Up" /> </form> </div> </form> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> For part of a project, I'm trying to create an order form with a real-time calculator (so, for example, if you enter in a quantity of a product into a form input box, it will multiply that quantity with the price of the product and display the total price in a different form input box). Most of the code works, in the sense that when I press the submit button on the form, I can see all of the values of each of the form input boxes in the address bar. However, when I wrote a function that sums all of the individual total prices into a final price and displays that in another form input box, pressing the submit button no longer puts the value of each field into the address bar. (In effect, everything works if I remove this code...but I really want to include it, since it seems like such a logical part of my intentions with this webpage.) Here's the function that I'm trying to get to work with the form. ("orderform" is the name of the form, and all of the "t#"s are the individual total prices that I'm trying to sum.) I know this code is probably far from the most efficient solution, but as long as it works...ahaha... Code: function totaled(){ b = parseInt(document.orderform["t0"].value); c = parseInt(document.orderform["t1"].value); d = parseInt(document.orderform["t2"].value); e = parseInt(document.orderform["t3"].value); f = parseInt(document.orderform["t4"].value); g = parseInt(document.orderform["t5"].value); h = parseInt(document.orderform["t6"].value); i = parseInt(document.orderform["t7"].value); j = parseInt(document.orderform["t8"].value); a = b+c+d+e+f+g+h+i+j; document.orderform["total"].value = a; } Could anyone help me out, in explaining why my code is messing up the form submission? And I really really apologize if anyone out there is appalled by some ignorance of mine - I'm only just starting to learn how to use JavaScript. (Also, I'm sorry if I referred to things with the wrong terms and confused anyone. I'm not too good with proper naming either.) Oh, right! Just wanted to add, the code does exactly what it's supposed to do (minus the messed up form submission) and nothing comes up in the Error Console when I open my webpage, so there's no help to be found there. (I doubt that was actually helpful, but just in case...) I'm trying to create a demo to display a new way of showing our data. I thought I remembered this being pretty simple but I'm hitting a snag. The table, the mouse over, and the check row by clicking on the row all work separately but when the check row by clicking function is on, seen in the first row, the checkbox stops working. Any insight into why this may be true? Any help is greatly appreciated Code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function selectRow(row) { var firstInput = row.getElementsByTagName('input')[0]; firstInput.checked = !firstInput.checked; } </script> </head> <body> <table id="tbl" border="2"> <thead> <tr> <td></td> <td>First Row</td> <td>Second Row</td> <td>Third Row</td> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr onclick="selectRow(this)" onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>1</td> <td>1</td> <td>1</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>2</td> <td>2</td> <td>2</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>3</td> <td>3</td> <td>3</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>4</td> <td>4</td> <td>4</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>5</td> <td>5</td> <td>5</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>6</td> <td>6</td> <td>6</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>7</td> <td>7</td> <td>7</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>8</td> <td>8</td> <td>8</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>9</td> <td>9</td> <td>9</td> </tr> <tr onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand'"> <td> <input type="checkbox" class = "chcktbl"/> </td> <td>10</td> <td>10</td> <td>10</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html> Hi i am very new to javascript. i want the slider type effect where i can show some images. Please see here in this site www.indiabazaaronline.com i want this kind of slider effect. Plzz any body help me. Thx in advance Hi All I'm new here. I'm not a javascript coder but I can copy/paste and follow instructions. I'm using easyslider1.7 which is based on jquery. I have it set up and it's working. The problem I'm having with it is when I refresh the page or go to a different page on my site the slide images seem to "spill" out of the slider and it takes a second or so for the images to get back into position. I see this same slider on other sites and this problem doesn't happen. I've tried giving the container div a fixed height but that didn't help. Does anyone know what might cause this and what I should look for? thanks marloo Hello there, I am new to UI Development, I had an issue in displaying slider, i have to use 3 sliders in my page, 2 are working fine but the 3rd slide is not getting displayed even though the code is same as the remaining 2. However, it appears that the javascript:slidelink() is still running beyond the intended area as some of my content below the container is now underlined as if it were a link, when it should not be. I can tell that the script is the issue because when hovering over the content it shows "javascript:slidelink()" but will not go to anything when clicked. Here is the code I'm using, which is placed in a Wordpress theme container: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- //preload images var image1=new Image() image1.src="image1.png" var image2=new Image() image2.src="image2.png" var image3=new Image() image3.src="image3.png" var image4=new Image() image4.src="image4.png" var image5=new Image() image5.src="image5.png" var image6=new Image() image6.src="image6.png" //--> </script> </head> <body> <a href="javascript:slidelink()"> <img src="image1.png" name="slide" width="100" /> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var step=1 var whichimage=1 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") whichimage=step if (step<3) step++ else step=1 setTimeout("slideit()",1800) } slideit() function slidelink(){ if (whichimage==1) window.location="link1.htm" else if (whichimage==2) window.location="link2.htm" else if (whichimage==3) window.location="link3.htm" else if (whichimage==4) window.location="link4.htm" else if (whichimage==5) window.location="link5.htm" else if (whichimage==6) window.location="link6.htm" } //--> </script> </body> </html> Can anyone spot what might be causing the issue? Thanks in advance! Hello everyone, Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't fine one... I basically want a slider for my website so the user can click on the arrows overlaid onto of the image, and it will slide the image to the next one. There will need to be lots on the page at one time as it is a gallery theme website, so can't be processor hungry! Can someone point me in the right direction please? I have found several but the buttons are always on the outside of the image div. And also do not work well with more than one on the page at one time? Also... Is there a way to snap the scrolling so the mouse wheel is scrolled down, and then the page snaps to the next 'projectcontainter' div on my website? iScroll I was told is used for this buy I can't seem to find out where or how. I am new to all this javascript so any help would be appreciated! Website is located at: www.jb-design.me/marchupdate/ Thanks so much! I am using a JQuery Slider function in one of my forms that has the folowing code: Code: <script> $(function() { $( "#slider" ).slider({ value:100, min: 0, max: 100, step: 1, slide: function( event, ui ) { $( "#amount" ).val( ui.value + "% Clear" ); } }); $( "#amount" ).val( $( "#slider" ).slider( "value" ) + "% Clear" ); }); </script> And the form looks like: Code: <form method=POST etc...> <div id="slider"></div> <span><input type="text" id="amount" name="Percentage" style="border:0; color:#f6931f; font-weight:bold;" /></span> </form> Now, in the php, I have an error system set up, so that if one of the items in the form are left blank etc., an error will generate without posting the form. However, I am using <?php echo ?> in the form to repopulate the fields that were entered, so user does not have to fill them again. However, the slider always resets back to 100%... How can I fix this so that if the form does not POST, the slider will keep the value that the user set it at. Is this possible, I am having trouble figuring it out. Thanks! Hi. Can someone please tell me if a bent percentage silder is possible (something like this http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=173255 only I want it to be bent about 330 degrees, and I wouldn't want to link to another class-I would like to host the entire code on my website)? Also, the reason I want the slider to be bent, is because I would like the slider to be a sort of bent rectangle, and when the user clicks/drags the slider, the rectangle would "fill" to that point (change its background color up to where the mouse is). Thank you. Bye.
Hi, i would like to explain my situation, basically, i am trying to create a slider with thumbnails. The slider is complete, works very well. The only problem is that the captions are just not appearing properly. I had a situation where the captions did work but they had to be coming in from the slideOut functions but what i want is for it to be displayed when the person hovers over the image. This is what it looks like at the moment... This is when the caption is coming from the top. i would like to implement Code: http://web.enavu.com/demos/caption/ or this Code: http://www.sohtanaka.com/web-design/examples/image-hover/ Doesnt matter which one into my slider when an image is hovered over (not the thumbnail) the actual image, then the caption covers the whole image displaying whatever text... Hi Guys I am using a CMS where the blogging platform isn't the greatest. Basically I am wanting to give the first post preview different styling to the rest of the post previews on the page. Here is an example of what I am trying to achieve: http://www.stylingyou.com.au/ You can see the first post preview has a bg color and border etc. So here is the code my CMS outputs for the blog previews Code: <div id="catblogoutput"> <div class="blog-post"> 1st blog preview here </div> <div class="blog-post"> 2nd blog preview here </div> <div class="blog-post"> 3rd blog preview here </div> </div> As you can see each div is named the same and I can not change this. So I am thinking the JS would say something like: if it is the first div blog-post then use this css class Obviously I am no JS expert, so let me know if this is possible. Thanks I took a class with just a little bit of JavaScript in it and didn't learn as much as I'd hoped. Is there a website that walks through JavaScript that easy to understand? Thanks Can any one please tell me a way to get all the links in a web page using javascript?
I have a code for creating a search bar to search words on an unpublished site that i am developing. I was wondering where to enter the keywords, can anyone help me? Thanks; Code: <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Original by http://javascript.internet.com More javascripts http://www.************** --> var NS4 = (document.layers); // Which browser? var IE4 = (document.all); var win = window; // window to search. var n = 0; function findInPage(str) { var txt, i, found; if (str == "") return false; // Find next occurence of the given string on the page, wrap around to the // start of the page if necessary. if (NS4) { // Look for match starting at the current point. If not found, rewind // back to the first match. if (!win.find(str)) while(win.find(str, false, true)) n++; else n++; // If not found in either direction, give message. if (n == 0) alert("Not found."); } if (IE4) { txt = win.document.body.createTextRange(); // Find the nth match from the top of the page. for (i = 0; i <= n && (found = txt.findText(str)) != false; i++) { txt.moveStart("character", 1); txt.moveEnd("textedit"); } // If found, mark it and scroll it into view. if (found) { txt.moveStart("character", -1); txt.findText(str); txt.select(); txt.scrollIntoView(); n++; } // Otherwise, start over at the top of the page and find first match. else { if (n > 0) { n = 0; findInPage(str); } // Not found anywhere, give message. else alert("Not found."); } } return false; } </script> <form name="search" onSubmit="return findInPage(this.string.value);"> <div align="center" font size=3> <input name="string" type="text" size=15 onChange="n = 0;"> </font> <input type="submit" value="Search Page"> </div> </form> I have two main components running on this page below. http://vtpr.net/asociacion-relacioni...d=54&Itemid=23 Sobi directory and gavick photoslide.
