JavaScript - Dropdown Value To Change Text Field Value
Hello, I am needing the coding to do the follow:
When a user makes a selection from a dropdown, the value is placed in a text input. SELECT >>> INPUT Thank you so much for your help! Similar Tutorialsi m required to script the coding in which if we select an option from dropdown menu a text should be apprehend in disabled text field.. i dont have any idea about javascripting so sorry for being so dump... i need resultant in this form Hi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. like for example i have text areas named upload1 and upload2 when I click or add input on upload1 a drop down list below upload2 will not change, but when I add input on upload2 the dropdown will select "parts" I have a text field, call it income, that when the input is > 0 I need to dynamically show the next text box, and if it is blank hide the next text box. I would like to use onBlur but can't seem to get it to work. Can I do this? Help Hi Coders, I have a Javascript on my credit card page which populates the elements of a dropdown field (The Year field). It just works with Internet Explorer and not Firefox. Here is the script: <script type="text/javascript"> <% Dim orderDateYearx orderDateYearx = cStr(Year(Date)) %> yy="<%=orderDateYearx%>"; yyyy=parseInt(yy); yyyy=yyyy var listDocUpload = document.getElementById("expDate2"); var optn = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn.value = yyyy; yyyy=yyyy+"" optn.text = yyyy.replace("20",""); listDocUpload.options.add(optn); yyyy=parseInt(yyyy)+1 var optn2 = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn2.value = yyyy; yyyy=yyyy+"" optn2.text = yyyy.replace("20",""); listDocUpload.options.add(optn2); yyyy=parseInt(yyyy)+1 var optn3 = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn3.value = yyyy; yyyy=yyyy+"" optn3.text = yyyy.replace("20",""); listDocUpload.options.add(optn3); </script> The dropdown field in Firefox is just blank. I mean no elements reside within it. (but its clickable) Any ideas why this dropdown field in Firefox is not going to be populated? Thank you for all the comments. Hello, I have been looking for this all day - Change currencies throughout the page when choosing between countries or currencies from dropdown menu. What I basically need is a dropdown menu which shows countries or currencies. When you select anyone of it like USD all the prices throughout the page are changed to USD. Now if you change it AUD/CAD/PKR etc they will be changed accordingly. A very good example of this is: http://creativeon.com. When you change currency from right top dropdown menu - it changes the currencies of all the packages in the main content. I am a HTML developer and do not know much about javascripting. Please help me. P.S. I have searched codingforums.com too and found only two links which are not of my use because they are currency converter: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=196577 http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=196373 Best Regards and Thanks in Advance. Hey all, I'm in process of writing my own script (I don't want to use any jquery plugins) to render a table and allow for filtering/searching. So when user clicks on link, by default there will be parameters passed in query string as you can see in the setDefaults private method below. However, I'm stuck trying to figure out the best way to append values selected from filter dropdown to the query string. I know it will involve something along the lines of $("select").change(function(){var option = $(this).val()}). But I am having difficulty figuring out how to incorporate it with this. I would like to make use of the below buildFilter function somehow: Code: (function($){ var listview = $('#listview'); var lists = (function(){ var criteria = { drop_filter: { check: function(value){ if(value) return }, msg: "Loading..." }, search_filter: { check: function(value){ if(value) return }, msg: "Loading..." } } var handleFilter = function(){ } return { create: function(component){ var component = component.href.substring(component.href.lastIndexOf('#') + 1); return component; }, setDefaults: function(component){ var parameter = {}; switch(component){ case "sites": parameter = { 'order': 'site_num', 'per_page': '20', 'url': '/sites' } } return parameter; }, buildFilter: function(){ if(event == "change") return criteria.drop_filter(); } } })(); $('#dashboard a').click(function(){ var currentComponent = lists.create(this); var custom = lists.setDefaults(currentComponent); initializeTable(custom); }); var initializeTable = function(custom){ var defaults = {}; var query_string = $.extend(defaults, custom); var params = []; $.each(query_string, function(key, value){ params += key + ': ' + value; }) alert(params); } })(jQuery) Thanks for any response. Hi all. I am creating a website and it utilizes the Apple Touch Icon: Code: <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/customIcon.png"/> Basically, I want to be able to change the bolded part from a drop down menu. Like, the user would select a certain item in the drop down menu and it would change the bolded part to a different link (the one corresponding to the drop down menu selection). Any ideas? I'm in the middle of teaching myself PHP and SQL so I'm only at the paste-and-tweak level with Javascript. Bear with my newbie-ness. I've seen a few solutions for creating a form dropdown menu that changes a nearby image based on what is selected. I want exactly that, but is it possible to have the images also appear on mouseover? I found a menu solution using CSS, but when I applied it to a form, it didn't work. Can anyone put me in the right direction on how to do that? I've started with this code, but need to tweak it to do this if possible: Code: <html> <body> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="100%"><form name="ddmessage"><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="100%"><select name="selectbox" size="1" onChange="changecontent(this)"> <option selected value="What is JavaScript?">What is JavaScript?</option> <option value="Why learn JavaScript?">Why learn JavaScript?</option> <option value="The difference between JavaScript and Java">The difference between Java and JavaScript</option> <option value="What is DHTML?">What is DHTML?</option> </select><br> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="100%"><div id="output"></div><br> <font face="arial" size="-2">This free script provided by <a href="http://javascriptkit.com">JavaScript Kit</a></font> </td> </tr> </table> </form> </td> </tr> </table> <p> <script language="JavaScript"> /* Drop down messages script By JavaScript Kit (http://javascriptkit.com) Over 400+ free scripts here! */ //change contents of message box, where the first one corresponds with the first drop down box, second with second box etc var thecontents=new Array() thecontents[0]='JavaScript is a scripting language developed by Netscape to add interactivity and power to web documents. I am trying to incorporate a javascript form field detection function that alerts the user that they have not submitted their changes if they try to navigate away. The detection works as designed, but the problem I am having is when the form is submitted, the script senses an unload and still fires the alert. The form submits to itself and updates the database and then reloads the page with the new values. Is there a way to have the script ignore the forms submit url and skip the form check? Here is the code ( NOT mine, found it somewhere else.) Code: <script language="javascript"> var ids = new Array('description'); var values = new Array('<?php echo $detail['description']; ?>'); function populateArrays() { // assign the default values to the items in the values array for (var i = 0; i < ids.length; i++) { var elem = document.getElementById(ids[i]); if (elem) if (elem.type == 'checkbox' || elem.type == 'radio') values[i] = elem.checked; else values[i] = elem.value; } } var needToConfirm = true; window.onbeforeunload = confirmExit; function confirmExit() { if (needToConfirm) { // check to see if any changes to the data entry fields have been made for (var i = 0; i < values.length; i++) { var elem = document.getElementById(ids[i]); if (elem) if ((elem.type == 'checkbox' || elem.type == 'radio') && values[i] != elem.checked) return "Your changes have not been saved. Are you sure you want to leave?"; else if (!(elem.type == 'checkbox' || elem.type == 'radio') && elem.value != values[i]) return "Your changes have not been saved. Are you sure you want to leave?"; } // no changes - return nothing } } </script> The url of the page is "edit.php?&mode=edit&t=2&id=284&cn=2009-002" The only detectable change to the query string would be the 't' variable. Basically what I want to do is have the script look for a change in the 't' variable and if detected, check the form values for changes. If 't' doesn't change, skip the script completely. Thanks.. basically i have a form with lots of fields.. drop down boxes and textarea's and standard input text.. now what i need is a way to change all of these fields with a fetch button. i can get the value for the fields from the perl script on my server side. the form basicslly sends lots of fields to my perl script and saves each field of data into seperate text docs. now my customer would like to retrieve the data back to the form to change aspects of it to be resubmitted . i am struggling with the simplist of codes to set the value of the fields from a javascript variable any ideas please. Hi, I'm hoping this will be an easy one for you experts out there. I am working on a convention registration form. What I'm trying to do is have the text "50.00" pop into the COST field when any text (even if it's only one character) is entered into the NAME field. If the text in the NAME field is deleted, the "50.00" should also be deleted. Does anyone have a script that does this? Thanks! Hi! I've been using this bit of code to limit the number of characters in a text field (taken from http://www.shiningstar.net/articles/...reacounter.asp: Code: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function textCounter(field, cntfield, maxlimit) { if (field.value.length > maxlimit) // if too long...trim it! field.value = field.value.substring(0, maxlimit); // otherwise, update 'characters left' counter else cntfield.value = maxlimit - field.value.length; } // End --> </script> <form name="myForm" action="/articles/articles/javascript/dynamictextareacounter.asp?ID=<%=siteID%>" method="post"> <b>One Function to Count and Limit Multiple Form Text Areas</b><br> <textarea name="message1" wrap="physical" cols="28" rows="5" onKeyDown="textCounter(document.myForm.message1,document.myForm.remLen1,125)" onKeyUp="textCounter(document.myForm.message1,document.myForm.remLen1,125)"></textarea> <br> <input readonly type="text" name="remLen1" size="3" maxlength="3" value="125"> characters left <br> <textarea name="message2" wrap="physical" cols="28" rows="5" onKeyDown="textCounter(document.myForm.message2,document.myForm.remLen2,125)" onKeyUp="textCounter(document.myForm.message2,document.myForm.remLen2,125)"></textarea> <br> <input readonly type="text" name="remLen2" size="3" maxlength="3" value="125"> characters left <br> <input type="Submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"> <br> </form> What I'd like to do is make the background colour and maybe the font colour change on the 'characters left' field depending on the value of that field. So most of the time the colour is green but when the field = 0, the background colour changes to red. Can I just add to the function above or will I need a new one? If anyone could help, that would be great Cheers Hello. The code below lets a user select a drop down option and a picture changes depending on the selection.
