Similar TutorialsHi All, I am trying to create a website and am having problems editing a piece of code. A working example can be seen Here The only problem is that the "pages" are open when a user arrives on the site and I want them to be " closed" until a user clicks them, much like the "Search, Profile & Draw" tabs. I have included all the coding used to this, the only thing I haven't included are the images. Anyone got any idea how this is possible? Regards Jake I'm using a nice little script which replaces the usual file upload input with whatever image you want and then with JS makes sure that an invisible 'browse' button is underneath the mouse pointer whenever the mouse is moved over the image you want to use. Nice It works on every browser ie7 ie8 ie9 FF safari chrome but not on opera. On Opera the regular file input appears. I've had a good hoke round the 'net and I know there's loads of scripts which do similar things. But either they are too complicated for me to figure out how to use them eg uploadify (bit of a newbie) or they do similar things but just not as well - like making the custom image the same size as the file input would be (there's issues with that too). here's the script I'm using - there's not much to it How come it doesn't work in Opera grrrr... Is there anyway to fix it? This is perfect for what I want apart from not working in Opera Hi all, I have just joined this forum hoping for some help on a problem i am having, i have a feeling the solution is simple but im a noob at JAVA so i have no idea how to work it out. The site is.... http://inspirecalendar.net/html/purchase.html The problem is the following.... When you select US (West Coast) as your location it doesn't update the price on the right properly. If you select it first it just won't display anything. if you select it after choosing another one and hitting continue then it doesn't change. Any help would be appreciated, hope i explain the problem properly if you have any questions feel free to ask... Thnks in advance :Smiley I am looking for help to develop a java code for my e-commerce site mini cart. I have looked locally (kijiji) and on Coding Forums market place and haven't received a great response. Either the person had other projects they were working on or they were trying to "sell" me more than what I was asking for (ie web and graphic design). I have a mini cart on my site that I would like to have a few specific features. I am hoping someone in this forum can help me out (as I have received wonderful help before!!) I need a javascript code/feature that will: - highlight the most recent item that has been added to slide down mini cart window - refresh the mini cart div content to update item count and price. On the site I am hosted on there is a built in feature to show how many items are in the cart and total price, but I don't know how to get it to update successfully - when slide down mini cart window refreshes it should'nt scroll to the top (if there is a scrollbar) ie: looking to implement a javascript: void (0) if possible - have the slide down minicart window appear for 5-10 seconds then automatically slide back up. (the visitor can also have the option to close the window before the 5 seconds) I would really appreciate any help with this. I find javascript hard and I have tried to learn it, but unfortunately I can't seem to grasp it . As part of course work for class I must write JavaScript/XML (with CSS) to carry out the following tasks. In essence it is a micro version of twitter. Users must be able to login, make posts, edit them. A text box should appear, with reset/update buttons. When the Update button is clicked the following occurs: 1. The user name is added to the message text typed by the user 2. A time stamp is added after the message text 3. A photo is added at the left 4. Any URLs are made into hyperlinks 5. The combined photo and text, formatted suitably, is prepended to the list of previous messages below the input area, i.e. the most recent item is at the top of the places visited. 6. The message box is cleared to allow further user input. - When the Clear button is clicked the text area is cleared. Additionally 1. Using a manually created XML file users must be able to "register themselves" 2. Posts must be manually saved in an XML file which loads upon login 3. When anyone opens the default page they are presented with a list of all your journey and comments (retrieved from the server). 4. Allow a registered user who has logged in to add, delete or modify only their comments. 5. Use one or more XML files to record registered users and passwords as well as posts and comments. These are manually created in 1& 2 above. ---- I initally tackled the first section using innerHTML and other various Javascript components but am at a total loss as to how to achieve the same thing using nodes (and XML). Any help with regards with where to begin would be much appreciated. Hi to every one. I'w created a mini javascript game for my site where you click on red button as fastest as you can for 10 seonds to achieve as best as you can click numbers per second. And the end score is a variable which I send to a function which reads the array that contains ten best scores and write your score in same array if it's among 10 best. Now I want to make somehow to save that array on server so I could read it on page load to show a high score list, but I'm having trouble to write that array in any kind of data on server that I could read it again from same data. I would be very grateful if someone can help me! Hi folks, I have some complex (to me) JS code that displays time and date for the selected location from a drop-down. It can handle half hours and DST adjustments. But it only displays the results in IE. Here is where I call it in html. Code: <font color="#894DFB" size="3"><b><em><span id="wc_clock"></span></em></b></font> <br><span id="wc_date"></span> Ok, I've determined that my problem wasn't in the script itself, but in the fact that Opera 10 Beta 2 apparently does not recognize the "onload" attribute of the body tag. Is there a way to work around this?
This website details how to make a gallery with javascript. http://monc.se/kitchen/80/lightweigh...ith-thumbnails My problem here is that instead of a cropped image in the thumbnails, I would like a re sized image. This is the CSS and javascript code.

I have a loading bar, created with CSS. Although, I want to fill the loading bar (Increasing the width) with javascript (onload) Is this possible? Thanks. I created a drawEllipse function for a Canvas library I'm making, and it works fine in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, but in Opera, the rotation doesn't work. The function is as follows: Code: ctx.drawEllipse = function (fill, x, y, rad1, rad2, r) { ctx.save(); if (r) { ctx.translate(x, y); ctx.rotate(r); ctx.translate(-x, -y); } ctx.scale(rad1, rad2); ctx.beginPath(); ctx.arc()(x / rad1, y / rad2, 1); ctx[fill](); ctx.restore(); }; When I add rotation to the ellipse, in Opera, it doesn't rotate and just gets bigger. I have no idea why. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks, Julian I have a web page which lists and displays all the characters for which a Named Entity code exists, with coding details etc.. Some of these characters are quite obscure and the reader will only be able to see them if they have a suitable Unicode font on their own PC/browser. If not, they will just see placeholder squares. For these obscure characters, I've set up a popup window. Click on a placeholder square and a small window appears which shows a .gif of what the character should look like, and a label saying what it's called. If the user closes the window after viewing, there's no problem. The difficulty comes in if somebody wants to click on a succession of placeholders and view a succession of character .gifs, and meanwhile the initial child window has slipped to the back of the stack and is behind the webpage instead of in front. In IE, Netscape and Safari, it's easy - I just use .focus to bring the child window to the fore. In Chrome, which doesn't recognise the .focus command, I close the child window and re-open it. [There's code further up the document which identifies the browser.] However, neither .focus nor closing and re-opening the window works with Opera, which turns the child window into a tab rather than a separate window, and then shoves that tab to the back. Anybody know how I can get Opera to either move the focus to the child-tab on command, or close it on command so it can be re-opened? This is the code that generates the child window: Code: function charDisplayer() { if (isIEorInnerGroup == "Yes") {codeWidth = windowWidth*.171, codeHeight = windowWidth*.239, codeInset = windowWidth*.041} else {adjust(200), codeWidth = adjust_by, adjust(280), codeHeight = adjust_by, adjust(48), codeInset = adjust_by} if (isChrome == "Yes") { if (window.generator) { window.generator.close(); window.generator= null; } } window.generator=window.open('', 'charwindow', 'height='+codeHeight+', width='+codeWidth+', left='+codeInset+', top='+codeInset*2+', scrollbars=yes'); window.generator.document.write('<html><head><title>Character sample</title>'); window.generator.document.write('<link rel="stylesheet" href="'+styleType+'">'); window.generator.document.write('</head><body>'); window.generator.document.write('<p style="text-align: center;"><div class=centred><table class=centred><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><div class=centred><img src="artwork/font_characters/'+charID+'.gif" border=3 alt="'+charName+'" align=bottom border=0 width='+charWidth+'></div>'+charName+'</td></tr></table></div>'); window.generator.document.write('<hr /><a href="javascript:self.close()">Close</a> the popup if you have finished viewing characters.</p>'); window.generator.document.write('</body></html>'); window.generator.document.close(); if (window.focus) {window.generator.focus()} } Ignore the line which begins if (isIEorInnerGroup == "Yes") - this is part of a setup which resizes all art, tables etc to maintain a constant size across all browsers and screen resolutions. "stylesheet" is passed as a variable because I have two different stylesheets on the go, to accommodate the fact that Netscape handles text-size differently from the other browsers. There's a function elsewhere which sets the value of stylesheet according to whether the browser is Netscape or not, and whether the platform is a Mac or not. "charID" is a variable which identifies the code name of the character (taken from the Named Entity code) and looks it up under that name in a list of .gifs. "charName" is a variable which passes a text-string saying what the character is called, e.g. "Not a subset of". There is an "isOpera" variable which can be used to start a specific action if the browser is Opera. http://javascript.internet.com/misce...lide-show.html any ideas to get this crossfading outside IE? Is there a way to make a script that edits something on a different page.
Hi there, I have a listbox and an Edit button. The user will need to click on the email address in the listbox before clicking on the button to edit. But then, the email address will be displayed on the prompt box's textbox, and even without editing it, the user can get scot-free. I would want to remove the email address on the prompt box's textbox, and also to check for null entries. If it is null, it will display an alert message. Else, it will check if it is a valid email address. My code is as follow: Code: function editItem() { var listbox = document.getElementById('listBox'); // listbox control id var newValue = lst.value; if(newValue != "") { var newItem = prompt("Enter the new email address",newValue); if(newItem == "") { alert("Please key in an email address into the textbox."); return false; } else { listbox.options[listbox.selectedIndex] = new Option(newItem, newItem, false, false); return false; arrTexts = new Array(); validRegExp =/^\w+@[a-zA-Z_]+?\.[a-zA-Z]{2,3}$/ // search email text for regular exp matches if (arrTexts.value.search(validRegExp) ==-1 ) { alert('A valid e-mail address is required.\nPlease try again.'); return false; } else { for(i=0; i<listbox.length; i++) { arrTexts[i] = lst.options[i].text; } arrTexts.sort(); for(i=0; i<listbox.length; i++) { listbox.options[i].text = arrTexts[i]; listbox.options[i].value = arrTexts[i]; } } } } else { alert('Select Item From The List To Edit '); } } HTML Code: select id="lstBxEmail" name="listBoxEmail" size="6" style="width: 580px;"> <option>figFruit@msn.com</option> <option>apple@hotmail.com</option> <option>cherry@yahoo.com</option> <option>banana@hotmail.com</option> <option>elephantApple@ymail.com</option> <option>durian@gmail.com</option> </select> <select id="listBox" name="listBox" size="3" style="width: 580px;"> <option>hello@msn.com</option> <option>wowAmusers@hotmail.com</option> <option>yrulikethis@yahoo.com</option> </select> Could someone edit this script so the date is always 2 weeks infront of the actual date? <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- var now = new Date(); var days = new Array( 'Sunday','Monday','Tuesday', 'Wednesday','Thursday','Friday','Saturday'); var months = new Array( 'January','February','March','April','May', 'June','July','August','September','October', 'November','December'); var date = ((now.getDate()<10) ?
