JavaScript - Perform Javascript On Element Created By Ajax
never mind
Similar TutorialsI have created a form with javascript embedded to dynamically assign value to
Code: document.myForm.myTextBox.value based on user inputs, and when submitting the form, the targeted php file will process the data and records them in MySQL. The problem is that the value of myTextBox remains 'null' even when the javascript assigns a value to it (and it is visible in the form). Here is the code of the javascript: Code: document.register.street.value = http.responseText.split('^')[0]; document.register.city.value = http.responseText.split('^')[1]; document.register.street.disabled = true; document.register.city.disabled = true; To prevent user-mistyping, the textbox will be disabled after the value is set. I tried to search but I found it is very difficult when I don't even know what key word to use to describe this issue. I hope anyone can help me with this here, and thanks for any inputs. I'm trying to check to see if a dynamically created element exists BEFORE creating another element of the same exact type...but my if statement at the beginning is not working and another element is just created. Code: function writeElement(id) { if(document.getElementsByTagName('transElement')[0]) { var id = id; killElement(); writeElement(id); } var id = id; var transElement = document.createElement('transElement'); var solidElement = document.createElement('solidElement'); var closeElement = document.createElement('closeElement'); //transElement.id = "transElement"; transElement.setAttribute('id', 'transElement'); solidElement.setAttribute('id', 'solidElement'); closeElement.setAttribute('id', 'closeElement'); closeElement.setAttribute('onClick', 'killElement()'); closeElement.innerHTML = "Close"; var content = "inject_poem.php?id=" + id; getdata(content, 'solidElement'); document.body.appendChild(transElement); document.body.appendChild(solidElement); document.body.appendChild(closeElement); } Does anyone know what is incorrect about my if statement? Hi, I am using a javascript datepicker which works fine with simple textboxes: For example: I have a textBox startDate1 in the table below: <form method="post" name="upload" action=""> <table id="tableId"> <tr> <td> <input type="text" name="startDate1" value="" readonly="true" size="10"/> <script language="JavaScript"> new tcal ({'formname': 'upload','controlname': 'startDate1'}); </script> <td> </tr> <table> </form> --Now I want to add rows dynamically to this table for which I have <a href="javascript:addRowToTable();" >Add Row</a> and the corresponding javascript function: <script type = "text/javascript"> function addRowToTable() { var tbl = document.getElementById('tableId'); var lastRow = tbl.rows.length; var iteration = lastRow; var row = tbl.insertRow(lastRow); var box = row.insertCell(0); var element = document.createElement('input'); element.setAttribute('type', 'text'); element.setAttribute('name', 'startDate' + iteration); box.appendChild(element); } </script> --This code creates the text boxes properly, but I am not being able to add the datepicker to it. Please suggest me a way to add the datepicker to the textboxes in the dynamically generated rows. Thank You Regards Rusho Shaw I'm trying to understand how forms, data, php, javascript all work together. So 1) I hardcoded some html form fields with values using php using "echo", then 2) I dynamically created some more html form fields with values using javascript using "createElement" and appending to the html form element. When I click on the submit form, the php created form fields still show on the webpage, but the javascript dynamically created form fields disappear. Can anyone shed some light for me? Why are the javascript created form fields disappearing when I click on submit and not the PHP created form fields? Thank you! Code: <form method="post" id="commentform" action="<?php echo $PHP_SELF?>"> Hello, I have the following DIV tag Code: <div id = "cbContainer"> </div> The div is initially hidden as the display is set to none. I have one text input in my form. Depending upon the changed text in that textbox, there is a javascript function which creates a list of checkboxes and by using the innerHTML, the above div is filled up with the check boxes like shown in the code below: Code: var chkboxes = ''; for(var r = 0; r < related.length; r++) { chkboxes = chkboxes + '<div class ="versionswidth">'+ '<input type="checkbox" name="version" value = related[r] />'+ related[r] + '</div>'; } var div = document.getElementById("cbContainer"); div.innerHTML = chkboxes; div display is then set as "block" which makes the div visible. The problem is that on form submission, the input of selected checkboxes is not submitting. I will be grateful for any help. Thank you. I am using a jQuery slider for a website but the W3C comes up with invalid because: document type does not allow element "div" here .before('<div id="buttons">') Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#slider') .before('<div id="buttons"></div>') .cycle({ fx: 'fade', // choose your transition type, ex: fade, scrollUp, shuffle, etc... pager: '#buttons' }); }); </script> Any help with this would be appreciated thanks. HI I want to write a search for my site .I make a new panel in the left of my menue and it has a text input and an image which when that user click on it javascript opens a new window which is a php page. The part I don't know how to do is when the user click on the image it should get the content of the text input and pass it to the url.For the hyperlink of the image I use "<a href="javascriptpen_window('includes/func/search.php?id=" But I don't know what should I write after that to get the content of the text input and put it in the next of the id. How can I do so? Thanks I'm writing a web app and so far: - the user enters some information on the web page - user data is submitted to a PHP script (using AJAX, so w/o a page refresh) which processes the data and generates a list of items that need to be returned to the user Now, I need to return the data -- preferably in the form of a list, where each returned item has a check box (so the user can choose which items in this list the subsequent operations will affect). However, can a PHP script effectively add/remove contents from such a checklist, or would this be something done better through Javascript only? For example: this, I think, or something similar. Luckily the PHP script that processes the data is short at this point, so I'd like to know whether I should rewrite it in Javascript (assuming Javascript can deal with REST well) to avoid a hassle. Hello, I am using AJAX and got the output from AJAX like the below line Ajax function Code: if (http_request.readyState == 4) { if (http_request.status == 200) { var_output = http_request.responseText; document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = var_output; //value 100 displayed } else { alert('There was a problem with the request.'); } } In my javascript function, i need to get the value 100 from that innerHTML. Is it possible to get this value? Code: // I tried this way, but not working var txt = document.getElementById('result').innerHTML; or Store it in hidden field and get the value from javascript. Please suggest any idea to solve this problem Thanks I have to display a div before firing a sync ajax in javascript div is getting displayed in firefox but not in IE and chrome. I need to basically display a download bar to indicate the user that the request is in progress Someone built this application for me. It contained a web page, the user clicked on the detail button to view a detail page, and then clicked on an update button on the detail page to update the database. This type of navigation was unappealing to me. I prefer a free floating form that contains a list, then by clicking on expand, you get to see detail on the specific item, and then click update all within the same free floating form. Is this possible with javascript and ajax? If so, can anyone provide examples? Thanks.

I am new to javascript and would like to search for the element with id but the element id are changing if i use different navigation in that web page example: C21_W68_V69_notes_struct.text changes to C24_W78_V79_notes_struct.text or any other name next time hence i would like to search that element using a pattern like notes_struct.text as there exist only one element ending with this pattern. I am using old version IE and would like to use javascript only. Kindly help. I started using the Google News Web Element on my website. The website for Google News Web Element is: http://www.google.com/webelements/#!/news I want the links to open in a new window, which cannot be done with the iframe version. Their website only allows me to generate an iframe. I was told that this can be done by using the javascript version, but I have not been able to figure it out. This is their link to the documentation: http://code.google.com/apis/newssearch/newsshow/ I know very little about javascript, and have been trying to get it to work but have been unsuccessful. I want to use the Medium Rectangle size and I want the only topic to be "Swainsboro". The only modification that I want to make is for the links to open in a new window. If anyone can help me do this, it would be appreciated. This is the iframe data that was generated by the wizard: Code: <iframe frameborder=0 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 border=0 style="border:0;margin:0;width:300px;height:250px;" src="http://www.google.com/uds/modules/elements/newsshow/iframe.html?rsz=large&format=300x250&ned=us&hl=en&q=Swainsboro&element=true" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> Fairly new the javascript, as in only been tinkering around for about a day. So forgive me if this is a simple question. At the moment I have the following function for handling events such as onclick, mouseover, mouseout. Code: function switcher(action, img){ switch(action){ case "hover": //mouse is on image document.imgSeat.src = "images/hover.gif"; break; case "click": //mouse has clicked image document.imgSeat.src = "images/click.gif"; break; default: //mouse elsewhere document.imgSeat.src = "images/defaulter.gif"; break; } } And the html the function refers to Code: <body> <div id="imagesholder"> <a href="#nerf"><img border="0" id="seat0" src="images/available.gif"></a> </div> </body> What im trying to do change my function so that instead of it being hard coded for the id "imgSeat" i can use the id passed through the parameter "img" instead. However I seem to be banging my head against the wall. I've tried using the following Code: document.getElementById(img).src = "images/available.gif"; //no error, just does nothing //where img is "0" instead of "seat0" document.seat[img].src = "images/available.gif"; //error: document.seat is undefined Would be extremely greatful if someone should push me in the right direction or show me what im doing wrong. Hello. I have a table with td elements containing numbers in one row and td elements containing textareas in the second row like this: http://motionsroom.com/example.html I want to find an easy way for the user to click, draw a rectangle around or whatever around any several numbers so that they they would be put in a single td element instead of two or three (so we would have: "49 and 12" as the new value) and then the textareas below would also merge. Ideally, I would like to have a rectangle like in RTS games but then I would settle on whatever is easy. Is there any way I could do that? Thanks! |
