JavaScript - Javascript Help, Click Counter
Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to set up two different buttons that count their own individual clicks. So far I have everything except where one button leaves off, the other picks up. So if I click the left one three times it shows the number 3, and then if I click the button next to it, that button picks up at 4. I want each button to have its own count. Any ideas? Here's what I have so far. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var counter = 0; function increaseloveit() { counter += 1; document.getElementById('loveit').value = counter; } var counter = 0; function increasehateit() { counter += 1; document.getElementById('hateit').value = counter; } </script> </head> <body> <form> <a href="#" onclick="javascript:increaseloveit();"><input type="button" value="Love It!" name="loveit" onclick="" /></a><input id="loveit" value="0" size="2" /></form> <form> <a href="#" onclick="javascript:increasehateit();"><input type="button" value="Hate It!" name="hateit" onclick="" /></a><input id="hateit" value="0" size="2" /></form> </body> </html> Similar TutorialsSo I'm really new to javascript and html. I have two images - each with their own click count. Right now each time the page loads the counter goes back to zero. I would assume I need some kind of server side coding. Any recommendations? How do i get a script that will count the data being written in the text box to show increments of 100 and write the value to the bottom of the textbox. e.g. When u get to 100, at the bottom it says "1st hundred" ... and to 200 it writes "2nd hundred" UP to 500 ??? Please help thanks Hi, I am trying to build a counter in javascript. The time on the counter should be displayed in hours, minutes and seconds<24:00:00>. When the counter reaches 00:00:00, it should stop.I read some books and they say that I must use the setInterval function to implement the timer. The problem is I don't know how to begin it. Could anybody give me some guidance on where to begin to do something like this. My javascript skills are basic as you can probably tell but I do like to learn it step by step. Thanks in advance I am using the counter script below to display a count from 1-36. Does anyone know how to edit the javascript to flash or blink the number 36 a few times, and then loop the script to start over and count from 1-36 again (and again)? Here's the script: <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <script type="text/javascript"> var t, max, i; function Increase(amount) { max = amount; i = parseInt(document.getElementById("count").value); t = setInterval("SetIncrease()", 500); } function SetIncrease() { document.getElementById("count").value = ++i; if(i == max) { clearTimeout(t); } } </script> <body onLoad="Increase(36);"> <input id="count" type="text" value="1" style="width:40px;font-family:georgia;font-size:30px;font-weight:bold;color:#CC0000;border: 0px solid #000000;text-align:right;background-color:#FFFF00;" align="center"> </body> </html> Many thanks! Hello, I actually use a counter on a webpage (It works) To do it, I use an inline javascript but I would like to unify the entire page and call that counter directly in the external Javascript that manages the whole site. Here's the actual code... Regards, Divya Hey guys. I need a Javascript that clicks on particular co-ordinates on page load. I'll even make do with a script that clicks on a random co-ordinate on page load. Just a simple click has to be made automatically on page load on the page. I tried using and editing this code: Code: <html> <head> <script> window.onload = function(){ document.getElementById("autoid").click(); } </script> </head> <body> <a href="http://google.com" id="autoid">Search Engine</a> </body> </html> but its of no use because I want it to click on another javascript, thats another Code: <script type="text/javascript"> [Script data goes here that takes about 700 x 700 pixels on the screen] </script> I want a click to be made on this script somehow. I can add Code: window.setTimeout('clickit()',5000); function clickit(){ location.href = document.getElementById("autoid"); myself which will delay it so the click occurs after page load but I just want a click to happen on top of that javascript. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers! Hi guys I'm trying to simulate links clicking on web pages, don't know how to deal with javascript links. The link I'm trying to click contains a tag like this: <a href="javascript:function(1243423)">text</a> Would somebody help me out please? Thanks a lot I want to show an hourglass instead of a mouse pointer on click of a button. I'm having both client and server side validations on the button click event. I have written the code for hourglass in the javascript function along with the validations. Now, on click of the button the hourglass gets displayed after 3-4 seconds and not immediately. According to me, the hourglass is getting displayed after the javascript function(client side validation) is executed and before server side validation begins. Is there any way to display the hourglass without delays ? Kindly let me know if there is any fix for eliminating this delay. I hope my question is clear. Please let me know if i'm wrong somewhere as i'm new to javascript programming. Thanks in advance. zizou. Hi, i need a javascript for my website. what i wanna do is that when smone loads my website, the script initiate the left mouse click automatically. that is on page load mouse click is stimulated. dnt know if its possible or not. need help. Thanx in advance I have these buttons that I need to have switch accounts on and off. They work, but for some reason the words on the buttons are not changing from Activate to Deactivate... It seems as though the button is not updating itself after success of the function. First post on here so I apologize if I am doing this wrong. Problem code in jsbin--> http://jsbin.com/okifa3/ Code: $(function() { var activateOwner = function(u) { var dataString = 'oid=' + u + "&a=1"; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "{/literal}{$site_root_path}{literal}account/toggle-owneractive.php", data: dataString, success: function() { $('#spanowneractivation' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#message1' + u).html("Activated!").hide().fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#message1' + u); }); $('#spanownernamelink' + u).css('display', 'inline'); $('#' + u).val('Deactivate'); $('#spanownernametext' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#' + u).removeClass('btnActivate'); $('#' + u).addClass('btnDectivate'); setTimeout(function() { $('#message1' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#spanowneractivation' + u).hide().fadeIn(1500); }, 2000 ); } }); return false; }; var deactivateOwner = function(u) { var dataString = 'oid=' + u + "&a=0"; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "{/literal}{$site_root_path}{literal}account/toggle-owneractive.php", data: dataString, success: function() { $('#spanowneractivation' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#message1' + u).html("Deactivated!").hide().fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#message1' + u); }); $('#spanownernamelink' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#spanownernametext' + u).css('display', 'inline'); $('#' + u).val = 'Activate'; $('#' + u).removeClass('btnDeactivate'); $('#' + u).addClass('btnActivate'); setTimeout(function() { $('#message1' + u).css('display', 'none'); $('#spanowneractivation' + u).hide().fadeIn(1500); }, 2000 ); } }); return false; }; $(".toggleOwnerButton").click(function() { if($(this).val() == 'Activate') { activateOwner($(this).attr("id")); } else { deactivateOwner($(this).attr("id")); } }); }); So I wrote a script to slide various divs horizontally. It takes 2 seconds to start and then begins, sliding, then stops, then slides, until all four slides are shown, and the slides back to the first one. My issue is I have two buttons that should take over and kill the auto sliding. Also the script is giving me errors. That mastertimer, and loopertimer is not defined... Why is that? Here is the code Code: <script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[ function restartSlide(item){ item.style.left = parseInt(item.style.left) + 60 +'px'; var resetLooperSl = setTimeout(function(){restartSlide(item)},15); if(parseInt(item.style.left) >= 0){clearTimeout(resetLooperSl);return;} } function stopSlide(){ clearTimeout(loopTimer); } function animateSlide(element, limit, transition){ if(transition == "stop" && parseInt(element.style.left) > -2460){ limit = limit - 820; } else if(transition == "stop" && parseInt(element.style.left) <= -2460){ limit = limit + 820; stopSlide(); } element.style.left = parseInt(element.style.left) -20 + 'px'; if(parseInt(element.style.left)<= limit){ setTimeout(function(){animateSlide(element,limit,"stop")},4000); clearTimeout(MasterTimer); } var loopTimer = setTimeout(function(){animateSlide(element,limit,"flow")},15); } function autoSlide(){ var MasterTimer; var RestarterTime; var adContainer = document.getElementById('adwrap'); adContainer.style.left = '0px'; MasterTimer = setTimeout(function(){animateSlide(adContainer,0,"stop")},3000); RestarterTimer = setTimeout(function(){restartSlide(adContainer)},25000); } addEvent(window, 'load', autoSlide); function btnSlideNow(elem, incremental){ elem.style.left = parseInt(elem.style.left) + incremental + 'px'; setTimeout(function(){btnSlideNow(elem, incremental)},30) } function btnActions(elem){ var incremental; if(elem.id == 'btnAdLeft'){incremental = 30} else if(elem.id == 'btnAdRight'){incremental = -30} btnSlideNow(elem, incremental); } function adButtons(){ document.getElementById('btnAdLeft').onclick = function(){btnActions(this)} document.getElementById('btnAdRight').onclick = function(){btnActions(this)} } addEvent(window, 'load', adButtons); // ]]></script> Also I'd like to see how you experienced scripters would write this cleaner. I'd like to see that, as I am new to js. It would help me learn. thanks Hi, Im new to javascript so thankyou in advance for reading this! Im trying to create a video gallery, with thumbnails below a main content div, which when clicked display the relevant video in the said div. This isn't a problem and I have managed to do this... However, I also need to display descriptive text (different for every video) in a seperate div, and the first video also needs to autoplay when the page is loaded (rather than waiting until the user requests a video by clicking a thumbnail) I've made an example of where Im at so far and its viewable here... http://www.phixfilm.com/video_thumbn...ideo_test.html The div 'a few lines of info about vid here' is currently just static but this is what i need to change each time a different video is requested by the user (sorry if thats obvious but just in case its not clear) I will be using .movs but I've embedded youtube for now although I don't think that makes any difference... Im presuming it will be a case of having text that is hidden until the thumbnail is clicked...? Which I guess I could do with css but that way seems a little clumsy, I really am a newbie to javascript so a helping hand in the right direction would be very much appreciated. THANKYOU! ps- an example of something similar to what Im trying to achieve is here... http://somesuchandco.com/#670098/Nathalie-Canguilhem Hi, I have a page with an iframe in it. I need my script to search the contents of the iframe for a specified string, and click the link within it. Here is my coding. Code: <script> setTimeout(function() { window.location.reload(); }, 2000); // 2 seconds, e.g. $(document).ready(function() { $('a[href*="13468100"]', $("game").contents()).closest('tr').find('.fightActionInnerInner').parent("a").trigger("click"); }); </script> </head> <body> <iframe src="http://vl.storm8.com/hitlist.php" width="100%" height="800px" id="game"></iframe> In the post below is the content of the iframe. At the moment the script doesn't want to click the link, it just refreshes the page. Can anyone advise?
