The part I am having trouble at is the text being a php include. Here is the line that works for pre-typed in information: Code: divbody.innerHTML = "Some random text here."; Then when I want to do something like this: Code: divbody.innerHTML = "<?php include('widgets/products.php'); ?>"; Then the actual innerHTML comes out like this: Code: <!--?php include('widgets/products.php'); ?--> It seems as if it is changing '<' and '>' to '<!--' and '-->' respectively. I am trying to get 2 versions of the code below to run simultaneously on the same page (in different div tags), but with different pictures and timer. I can get both to work seperately so I know the code works, but when I put both on the same page only one works. Can anyone solve this problem? Any recommendations of what route I should take to figure this out? Thanks! When i try to understand why a control is not raised - i check the F12 "code".. then, when i look for the required control there - it appears under CDATA tag. So - why? thx, Rach Hi I was wondering if it is possible to add js logging onto a webpage and have this writing out to a separate file with the details? I have a page which is only showing the header and not the rest of the page, I want to add loggin code to find out where it is breaking. Is this possible and how would I go about setting it up? Hey guys, On my personal website, I just created a rollover image gallery using Javascript. Each time you roll over a thumbnail, the image above changes to the corresponding thumbnail image. http://www.thelittlelizzard.com/Bahamas.html After spending hours getting that to work properly, my footer is now showing as one huge blue link. I believe I'm forgetting to close a tag somewhere? Being new to Javascript, I don't have a clue what I am forgetting to close to cause my footer to become a huge blue link like that. Does anyone have any ideas? Here is a copy of the code of my body section where I believe the problem may be... The .php requests a random word from a table of words in a mysql database. I wrote a html form to display the requested word in a text box. Here is my html file: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function myfunction() { var xmlhttp; if(window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp= newHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if(xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.myLingo.word.value=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET", "get_Word.php",true); xmlhttp.send(null); } </script> <form name="myLingo"> <input type="button" name="button" value="New Word" onClick="myFunction();" /> <input type="text" name="word" /> </form> </body> </html> and here is my .php script: Code: <?php $con=mysql_connect('localhost', 'xxxx', 'xxxx'); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: '.mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("my_lingo", $con); $sql=mysql_query("SELECT `word` FROM `words` ORDER BY RAND()") or trigger_error('Error: ' .mysql_error()); $word=mysql_fetch_array($sql); echo $word[0]; mysql_close($con); ?> When I run this in Internet Explorer; I get a error that is asking for an object on line 32 which is the line that has my button in the javascript. When i run it in firefox, I don't receive an error, but the page still does nothing. Any suggestions? The main function of the page is that, when I click the button, it's supposed to return me a random word from the .php script Thanks, jcjst21 I am having problems calling a JS function from asp.net code behind button click after some code is ran. The first time the button is clicked and it calls the JSfunction the readyState = loading and it cannot find the element. The second time the button is clicked the readystate is complete and it finds the element. Anybody have any suggestions? Here is the code behind ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "CC", "<SCRIPT language='javascript'>parent.abc('button1')</SCRIPT>") and javascript function abc(src) { if (document.readyState == 'loading') { alert(document.readyState); } else { document.getElementById(src).click(); } } Hi, I have a jsp which has a function gets called during the page unload. This jsp has a form with an action attribute to one servlet. Please find below the code snippet. ---- Java script code --- function logoff() { document.forms["FormName"].rel="nofollow" target="_self"; alert('Submitting the form'); document.forms["FormName"].submit(); } --- HTML form code ----- <body onUnload='logOff()'> <form name ="FormName" method="POST" action='<%=sLogoutResponseURL %>'> Whenever the page gets unloaded always logoff function is getting called. I also get the alert message "Submitting the form". But my servrlet does not get invoked. My application supports logging in with the same user id more than once. Scenario it works: User logs in. Close the application. logoff function is called and servlet gets invoked. Scenario it does not work: User logs in one window. Open one more IE window and and open the application with same user id. this can be repeated. Now when i close the application logoff function is called for all of the window close. But servlet does not gets invoked all the time. Sometimes it stops calling servlet. I have searched over the net and found one solution. Below piece of code will make sure form gets always submitted. -------------------------Start ----------------- function fakeSubmit(event) { var target = event ? event.target : this; /* Fire a submit event */ var fakeEvent = $(target).fire("form:submit"); if (fakeEvent.stopped == false) { /* Call the real submit function */ this._submit(); } } if(window.HTMLElement){ /* DOM-compliant Browsers */ HTMLFormElement.prototype._submit = HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit; HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit = fakeSubmit; } else { /* IE does not expose it's HTMLElement object or its children Let the document load so all forms are accounted for */ document.observe("dom:loaded", function(){ for(var i = 0; i < document.forms.length; i ){ document.forms[i]._submit = document.forms[i].submit; document.forms[i].submit = fakeSubmit; } }); } -----------End ------------------ But this resulted in script error while loading the page "object does not support this method or property" at line where document.observe is there. Kindly help at the earliest. Thanks in advance Santosh Hey all, so im working on a piece of jquery/JS which executes (drops down a new div) when you click a link. I have the links setup as <a href="#" id="d0">Execute 1</a> <a href="#" id="d1">Execute 2</a> <a href="#" id="d2">Execute 3</a> And the jscript detects when d0, d1 or d2 is clicked and executes my script. It all works perfectly, however when you click on a link it will jump to the top of the page as a side effect of the a href="#" I assume? Is there anyway to have my same effect work inline (without jumping the page to the top) ? Thank you very much! I want to - after the page has loaded - detect a text string in the code.. something similar to Code: function afterPageLoadsDetect() { Quote: Simply put -- I want javascript to detect a text string in the source code and return it to me -- AFTER the page is fully loaded. THANKS. Thank you. Clement Osei This post will contain a few guidelines for what you can do to get better help from us. Let's start with the obvious ones: - Use regular language. A spelling mistake or two isn't anything I'd complain about, but 1337-speak, all-lower-case-with-no-punctuation or huge amounts of run-in text in a single paragraph doesn't make it easier for us to help you. - Be verbose. We can't look in our crystal bowl and see the problem you have, so describe it in as much detail as possible. - Cut-and-paste the problem code. Don't retype it into the post, do a cut-and-paste of the actual production code. It's hard to debug code if we can't see it, and this way you make sure any spelling errors or such are caught and no new ones are introduced. - Post code within code tags, like this [code]your code here[/code]. This will display like so: Code: alert("This is some JavaScript code!") - Please, post the relevant code. If the code is large and complex, give us a link so we can see it in action, and just post snippets of it on the boards. - If the code is on an intranet or otherwise is not openly accessible, put it somewhere where we can access it. - Tell us any error messages from the JavaScript console in Firefox or Opera. (If you haven't tested it in those browsers, please do!) - If the code has both HTML/XML and JavaScript components, please show us both and not just part of it. - If the code has frames, iframes, objects, embeds, popups, XMLHttpRequest or similar components, tell us if you are trying it locally or from a server, and if the code is on the same or different servers. - We don't want to see the server side code in the form of PHP, PERL, ASP, JSP, ColdFusion or any other server side format. Show us the same code you send the browser. That is, show us the generated code, after the server has done it's thing. Generally, this is the code you see on a view-source in the browser, and specifically NOT the .php or .asp (or whatever) source code. |
