JavaScript - Jquery And Xml Problem With Playlists
Hi, JPlayer supports playlists, but it keeps the playlist in the javascript:
Code: var myPlayList = [ {name:"Tempered Song",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-01-Tempered-song.mp3"}, {name:"Hidden",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-02-Hidden.mp3"}, {name:"Lentement",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-03-Lentement.mp3"}, {name:"Lismore",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-04-Lismore.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-04-Lismore.ogg"}, {name:"The Separation",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-05-The-separation.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-05-The-separation.ogg"}, {name:"Beside Me",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-06-Beside-me.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-06-Beside-me.ogg"}, {name:"Bubble",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-07-Bubble.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-07-Bubble.ogg"}, {name:"Stirring of a Fool",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-08-Stirring-of-a-fool.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-08-Stirring-of-a-fool.ogg"}, {name:"Partir",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-09-Partir.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-09-Partir.ogg"}, {name:"Thin Ice",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-10-Thin-ice.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-10-Thin-ice.ogg"} ]; I'm trying to read in an xml file into this "myPlayList" array so that I can have an easy way of updating it, but I'm having trouble understanding this array structure. In the JPlayer code they use "myPlayList[i].name" and "myPlayList[i].mp3" in a for loop to cycle through the playlist and display the links in a list. My idea was to get rid of the "myPlayList" var declaration and dynamically populate the array variable from my xml file: Code: var xmlDoc; var myPlayList = [] if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlDoc=new window.XMLHttpRequest(); xmlDoc.open("GET","playlist.xml",false); xmlDoc.send(""); xmlDoc=xmlDoc.responseXML; } // IE 5 and IE 6 else if (ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM")) { xmlDoc=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.async=false; xmlDoc.load("playlist.xml"); } x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("track"); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { myPlayList[i].name = x[i].childNodes[0].nodeName; myPlayList[i].mp3 = x[i].childNodes[1].nodeName; } It didn't display any songs I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help. Also, I'm guessing this has been done before (although I did a google search and couldn't find anything), so If you could point me to some resources I'd appreciate it. If there is another simpler option (over xml) I'd like to know. Thanks. Similar TutorialsPlease take a look at oceangamer.com Press the login/Sign up in the header of the page. It slides down fine in IE but in mine it refuses to slide up if i click close. Every other browser, it works??? Whats the problem? Hi, First of all, please excuse my ignorance of JQuery(and coding in general) - Although I hastily grab plugins and try to use them, I really do appreciate them, and also the help you may provide me with my problem! My problem is this - I was looking for a simple and effective slideshow to use in a website I was making. SimpleSli.de(http://www.simplesli.de/) was exactly what I was looking for. It works great when it works but sometimes when I load the page it kind of doesn't work. I don't know what is going on but only approximately 50 pixels of the slideshow is visible. This happens sporadically when you refresh the page multiple times, and seems to not work more often on Google Chrome. I've eliminated every possible wrong doing in my code and tried installing firebug to help me identify the problem but for now this is beyond my understanding. JS Lint also purged errors in the code but still the same intermittent problem. I tried to contact David Drew - the creator of SimpleSli.de but he has not responded to me. On top of this I was trying to Auto Play the slideshow on load but could not get this to work. The code for it is available on the SimpleSli.de website but I tried to implement it in every possible way but it did not work. This problem is secondary and not really a proper problem so no worries if you can't help me on this one. The website in question is http://www.argsecurityscotland.co.uk/ Thank you in advance for your time and expertise, I really appreciate it. Hi, I have a problem with a fade script using jquery, in firefox etc.. all is ok. But IE the fade does not fade it just comes in & out. If any one would be kind enough to have a quick look I would appreciate it. You can see the js in the main page, not an external file. The url is www.thecityspa.co.uk I am aware that there are common problems with this and that the fix is probably this: Code: $(function() { var zIndexNumber = 1000; $('div').each(function() { $(this).css('zIndex', zIndexNumber); zIndexNumber -= 10; }); }); However I can't figure out how to make my menu get in front of my jquery banner in ie6 and 7!! Ive been literally trying all day. Then I found that site explaining that that code would fix it. however I cannot get it to work with my site! Here is the link to my page: http://bit.ly/5fwhPP I'm not sure if just plopping that javascript before my other scripts will do it but it sounded like it from the page I found the code on. I could really use some help here I am completely jammed up and cant focus on anything else until i fix this stupid issue! Any help is therefore greatly appreciated! Hi, could someone please take a look at my page with a jQuery gallery that refuses to work, however, it works perfectly on my local computer. View Page What is the problem, and how do I fix it? I am trying to make a lightbox type plugin and I am running into a problem. I hope it is something simple that I am overlooking. Here is my code: jQuery.fn.overlay = function() { $(this).click(function() { $('body').append('<div id="over"></div>'); $('#over').fadeIn(); }); }; It (almost) does what it should. It draws the #over div to the screen just fine. The problem is when I try to access it. I try something like this and get no response: $(function() { $('#over').click(function() { alert('moo'); }); }); Its like the element is not getting the ID assigned to it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Hello, I have a problem with autocomplete of jQuery. Could anyone help me Oh, just noticed there is a Jquery help section... Sorry Hello guys, I have implemented the jquery validation in one of my projects. I have a <div> which has all the billing details & another <div> below it which has the shipping details. There is a checkbox in between these <div>'s which says "Same as Billing Address". It is used to populate all the shipping fields from the billing fields. Well, on this particular form there are some fields which are mandatory & which I have validated by jquery validation. I have used the $("#form_id").validate().form(); statement to check validation on the click event of the checkbox. The actual problem is that after page loads, I directly click on the checkbox & submit the page, the page gets submitted & validation does not execute. If I click the submit button with the checkbox unchecked then the validation runs properly. Why is my form not being validated if I checked the checkbox? Please guys, help me out. Thanks in advance. Bhavik. I am being told that a snippet of JQuery code in a website that I have inherited is having problems with a $() JQuery Library Implementation. It seems to keep throwing a "tagName" error. An offered solution was to recode the JQuery into traditional JavaScript using getElementById(). I'm new to JavaScript and clueless to JQuery. I'm not exactly sure how to start. How would something like this be changeable to Javascript? Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".signin").click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $("fieldset#signin_menu").toggle(); $(".signin").toggleClass("menu-open"); document.forms["loginForm"].elements.loginUser.focus(); }); $("fieldset#signin_menu").mouseup(function() { return false }); $(document).mouseup(function(e) { if($(e.target).parent("a.signin").length==0) { $(".signin").removeClass("menu-open"); $("fieldset#signin_menu").hide(); } }); }); </script> Hi, This must be a 1st. It works ok in IE...But not in Firefox? I need to use white text over a dark bg color or if possible over an image. The problem is in FF the white text distorts on fade The black text works ok when adding the white bg. See my test code below. (It can be copied straight in to test) If anyone could please take a quick look and give some pointers. I have no idea how to do what they want. Can anyone help me out? "Hi The Billboard Family, We just took a look at your output. It looks like you have jquery loading 3 times, which is not good. This will cause most all jQuery plugins/code to break if you load the jquery library more than once. It looks like you have it loading with your "Enhanced Search Box" and then again at the end of your head just before your "Cycle. All" script. Please be sure that the PHP method wp_head() is that LAST piece of code running before your close head tag in your header.php file as well as wp_footer() being the LAST piece of code running before your close body tag in your footer.php file. I would also recommend running WordPress' wp_enqueu_scripts() method, detailed here by Jamie: http://getsatisfaction.com/slidedeck/... Once you get those changes made and jQuery running only once please let us know if you are still having problems. Cheers! " MY SITE: http://billboardfamily.com/?page_id=4 So, basically what i'm doing here is hovering over the h2 heading and toggling the paragraph text. What i'm having a problem doing is changing the h3 headings so that they toggle the same way...is there a way to do this within this function without ids/classes? Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#hdg').hover(function() { $('div[title=latin]').toggle(); $('div[title=english]').toggle(); $('#').html('<h3>English</h3>'); }); }); </script> Hi pals, I am really tired in this problem of event keyup. I given same in my keyup function like: $(document).ready(function () { alert("GGG"+parseInt(jQuery.browser.version)); //To display test value working $("#find_text").keyup(function(e) { if(e.which == 13) { alert('Enter key was pressed'); //enter Here alert("FFF"+parseInt(jQuery.browser.version)); //Here got Error } }); }); I got Error : jQuery is not defined alert("FFF"+parseInt(jQuery.browser.version)); I use keycode, which , but no help, It's Work nicely in Chrome Browser but not in FF. Please give a Solution reply ASAP, I am really Tired. The code enter the Condition But that jQuery part make error. Thankfully Anes P.A I'm having a slight problem with php pagination and jquery/js. On the following page http://dev2.bluemuledesign.com/athletes.php you'll see an "athlete profile" area. Whenever an athlete photo is selected, javascript/php are used to switch out the athlete info. This works perfectly fine. The problem occurs if I use the left or right arrows to view more athletes (the left and right arrows are set with php pagination to switch to the next four records in the database). Whenever I do this, the athlete info defaults back to the first person from the initial load. Also, the javascript/jquery quits working and won't let me view the info for one of the newly displayed athletes. So I have two questions: 1) Can anyone tell me why it defaults back to the original athlete info? I'm assuming it has something to do with me not setting a cookie to remember the currently selected athlete. 2) Why does the javascript quit working when I view the next set of athletes? Also, the jquery slideshow that I am implementing is an alteration of this: http://designm.ag/tutorials/image-rotator-css-jquery/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I am using jQuery datepicker's date range, I have a dynamic form where date range fields are added dynamically, for this reason I have set the two selectors for jQuery date range to classes. Below is my code: Code: $( ".datepicker_start_date, .datepicker_end_date" ).livequery(function() { var dates = $( ".datepicker_start_date, .datepicker_end_date" ).datepicker({ defaultDate: "+1w", changeMonth: false, dateFormat: 'dd-mm-yy', numberOfMonths: 1, onSelect: function( selectedDate ) { var getclass = $(this).attr("class"); var option = getclass.indexOf("datepicker_start_date") != -1 ? "minDate" : "maxDate", instance = $(this ).data( "datepicker" ), date = $.datepicker.parseDate( instance.settings.dateFormat || $.datepicker._defaults.dateFormat, selectedDate, instance.settings ); dates.not( this ).datepicker( "option", option, date ); } }); }); The above works perfect if I have just two field to range the date such as fields with class .datepicker_start_date and .datepicker_end_date. But if I have multiple fields like have 3-4 more date range fields, it will just mess the dates and add dates of field1 to field 3 and vice versa. I would appreciate if someone could help. Many Thanks Hey, I'm working on a script that uses a function (called on click) to change the content of a div (called description) within the page. It contains an unordered list and list items. The first one has the class "show" and the ID "1", the second with just the ID "2", and so forth. (see code below). I am using jQuery to control the onclick function. the jQuery gets the current object with the "show" class. If there is no show class, it takes the first. It then puts a variable string together that represents the UL LI that is needed to be shown. Code: var descurrent = ($('div#description ul li.show')? $('div#description ul li.show') : $('div#description ul li:first')); var desclass = '#description li#'+x; Note: x is a variable transfered from the function change(x); where x is the ID that is to be shown HTML CODE: Code: <div id="description"> <ul> <li class="show" id="1">blahblah </li> <li id="2"> etc </li> </ul> The jQuery i'm trying to get to work is: Code: //Hide the current image descurrent.animate({opacity: 0.0}, 1000) .removeClass('show'); //Show new image $(desclass).addClass('show') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000); Note: the class "show" has a higer z-index Thanks in advance, Hope this can be resolved soon, been giving me headaches! Cheers, John hi I am trying to play a video from youtube. What I have done so far is getting videos from my database and displaying all those videos thumbnails. So now what i want is to when i click any thumbnail it should play that video in my website. How can I do this? Here is my code Code: function showResult(result) { $('#videosLoader').css('display','none'); var videoId = result.split(" "); for(i = 0; i < videoId.length - 1; i++) { var vidId = $.trim(videoId[i]); vidLink = getScreen(vidId,"small"); $('#videosList').append("<div class='playVid'>" + "<img width=80 height=80 src=" + vidLink + " alt='' /> " + "<input type='hidden' name='vidId' value='" + vidId + "' />" + "</div>").addClass("playVid"); } $('.playVid').click(function() { var val = $("input[name='vidId']").val(); alert("val"); $("#haveYourDefinition").append("<embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/" + val + "&rel=1' pluginspage='http://adobe.com/go/getflashplayer' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' quality='high' width='450' height='376' bgcolor='#ffffff' loop='false'></embed>"); }); When I click any thumbnail it does nothing. Why and please tell me how to do this? Help |
