JavaScript - Backbox Will Not Open In Ie
Hi i am designing a site for my cross country team, it can be seen here..
http://craterxc.angelfire.com/ If you click the photos link you will see one image on the page.. when you click it it is supposed to open the backbox image viewer which i got from.. http://javascriptkit.com/script/script2/backbox/ If you are using IE you will notice instead of opening the image viewer it opens a new page with a larger version of the original picture. All other browsers work correctly and open the backbox image viewer.. Please help me figure out why this does not work in IE as i've searched for an answer for a few days now and have had no luck! Thanks Similar TutorialsI have nearly successfully implemented a gallery using Backbox: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...ox/index.shtml However, when I test it in IE (7 & 8), it looks like it's invoking the javascripts and loading the large image from the thumbnail link, but then it just hangs up on the loading waiting to get the image. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks. I'm using the BackBox Script for image viewing on my HTML doc. However, the code is good for the use of one thumbnail with images that can be loaded. What if I want more than one thumbnail image using its own set of images? How can I have multiple thumbnails with their own set of large images to view? Does that make since? Any help would be much appreciated! Kenneth Hi, I've added this JavaScript to my site; http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/backbox/ It's working 100% on Safari, Chrome and Firefox. When I try to run it on Internet Explorer it just doesn't work. I click the image I want to view, a white box comes up with the loading bar, but after 5-10 seconds the loading bar goes and a small white box stays. I've left it for a minute to see if it's downloading any files, but it's not (Tested it on my actual .co.uk site) If anyone could give me a hand I would be very greatful. Thanks guys. John Hello everyone So I'm new and I have searched but I still got two questions. I'm gonna use the backbox scrip on my site and of course I got it from javascriptkit.com but - I would like to close the image not only by clicking outside of box or at the Close-button - but also by clicking the image itself. The orignal script works really well - except for one small thing - when the backbox displays large images - I can't close them by clicking outside the image on the left and right sides - it only works closing when I click above or under the box. Anyway; internet gave me this small code: Code: objLightbox.onclick = function(e) { // close Lightbox is user clicks shadow overlay if (!e) var e = window.event; var clickObj = Event.element(e).id; if ( !/(prevLink)|(nextLink)/.test(clickObj) ) { myLightbox.end(); } }; And I was wondering if you guys know where to put it in the lightbox.jg file for it to work (or if it even will work at all?) - Or maybe I can change the original code for this to happen (Without adding this new code?) Me then - I have notepad + + and I just recently learned CSS - Java is a tad more complicated when I look at the code The last question I have is if you guys got any good site for me to read and learn Java? Like I need to understand the logic behind it - how it thinks. I just learned how CSS "thinks and acts" a few months ago - but I guess Java isn't anything like that. Regards Fredrik Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem. I have downloaded and installed the Cut & Paste BackBox Image Viewer: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...ox/index.shtml When I click the image to activate the script, the pop-up displays at the very bottom left of the page. It's also not formatted correctly. For instance, I'm unable to see the Auto and Close buttons, the caption information is at the top and things are just generally out of whack. Everything seems to be in the correct directories. I've tried cutting and pasting the script into a plain document and the same thing happens. I'm working on this locally, so I don't have a live example. Can someone please help. I've been working at this for two days and just about wanna scream. lol Thank you in advance for your response. Hi, I want to restrict opening my popup window if it is already opened. For simple scenario, it is quite possible to do but in my case -- 1) When parent page is opening popup window, it is getting refreshed (required from client for some reason). 2) Once submit button is clicked from popup window, again parent page is getting refreshed (again its a requirement from client side). With these 2 conditions, I lost my saved value from variable and hence new popup is keep coming when the action is same. Currently I am using below code to open popup [CODE] function OpenWindow() { if(winPop && !winPop.closed) { alert("Popup is already open"); } else { winPop = window.open('MyPopupPage.aspx'); } } [CODE] Please help me to get rid of this problem. Thanks in advance. - Bhasker I do write some php, but have not much idea about JavaScript. I use window.open to open 10 pages simultaneously. I prefer to open them with a time delay from each other to put less load on the target server. This is my code with no delay. (I played around with setTimeout but can't get it to work.) PHP Code: <a href='http://www.".$new[9]."' onclick="window.open('http://www.".$new[0]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[1]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[2]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[3]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[4]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[5]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[6]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[7]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[8]."/')\" target='new300/'>Open 10</a> window.open() doesn't open an entirely new window in FF3.6, just a new tab suggestions? Edit: Yeah, ok, so if i specify a size smaller than the current standard window, it'll be forced to open a new window. but what if i want a new standard sized window to open entirely? and in any case, i wan t amore direct solution where possible, thanks. Hi, I have a .HTA application. Hta is an unknown file type for mozilla, it's a MS html application file type. Someone know any way for redirect to IE the .HTA application in question when the default browser is not IE, for example Mozilla? All the best. Bob Kuspe Hi, i'm very new with JS and have no idea where to go with this. Basically, i'm looking to have a dropdown menu open in new tab once clicked on Go To URL button. Here it is. Code: <div id="drop_box_nav"> <form action="#" onsubmit="return go_nav();"> <select name="my_links" id="my_links"> <option value="url">name</option> <option value="url">name</option> <option value="url">name</option> <option value="url">name</option> </select> <input type="submit" name="sub_nav" id="sub_nav" value="Go to URL" /> </form> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="subnav.js"></script> This should be extremely simple for most of you but i'm know squat about JS. Thank you. Noob, Linux, lost... I found a bit of sample code I want to mod&use that starts with: var fs = require("fs"); then later fs.open, fs.write/read... I've scanned the web, searched codingforums and the best I can come up with is NodeJS. I did a download/install and .... no joy. Thank you. Never mind (for now) it was really late, tired, not thinking (I do that a lot these days) and I CAN"T TPYE. I'm back. configure, make, make install -> 'install' finished successfully' - My first time adding external JS modules? I now have a file "fs.js". The code blows out on the first line: var fs = require("fs"); I've tried req(fs.js) with no luck. What do I need to do? Thanks Hi All: I have a problem with a free script for an internal site search and I would like to tweek. I know nothing about javascript so be patient. What I want to do is to open a new window when you select a hyperlink in the results returned page. Here's the relevant code: Code: // ---------- script properties ---------- var include_num = 1; var bold = 0; // ---------- sites ---------- var s = new Array(); s[0] = "JSE^form.html^Enter JSE in the example above ...^open source, free, client side"; s[1] = "JSE DOCUMENTATION^doc.txt^JSE is a client-side local site search engine. Written entirely in JavaScript 1.3 it works with browsers from Netscape 4.7 to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 ...^ faq, docs, instructions"; // ---------- end of script properties and sites ---------- var cookies = document.cookie; var p = cookies.indexOf("d="); if (p != -1) { var st = p + 2; var en = cookies.indexOf(";", st); if (en == -1) { en = cookies.length; } var d = cookies.substring(st, en); d = unescape(d); } var od = d; var m = 0; if (d.charAt(0) == '"' && d.charAt(d.length - 1) == '"') { m = 1; } var r = new Array(); var co = 0; if (m == 0) { var woin = new Array(); var w = d.split(" "); for (var a = 0; a < w.length; a++) { woin[a] = 0; if (w[a].charAt(0) == '-') { woin[a] = 1; } } for (var a = 0; a < w.length; a++) { w[a] = w[a].replace(/^\-|^\+/gi, ""); } a = 0; for (var c = 0; c < s.length; c++) { pa = 0; nh = 0; for (var i = 0; i < woin.length; i++) { if (woin[i] == 0) { nh++; var pat = new RegExp(w[i], "i"); var rn = s[c].search(pat); if (rn >= 0) { pa++; } else { pa = 0; } } if (woin[i] == 1) { var pat = new RegExp(w[i], "i"); var rn = s[c].search(pat); if (rn >= 0) { pa = 0; } } } if (pa == nh) { r[a] = s[c]; a++; } } co = a; } if (m == 1) { d = d.replace(/"/gi, ""); var a = 0; var pat = new RegExp(d, "i"); for (var c = 0; c < s.length; c++) { var rn = s[c].search(pat); if (rn >= 0) { r[a] = s[c]; a++; } } co = a; } function return_query() { document.jse_Form.d.value = od; } function num_jse() { document.write(co); } function out_jse() { if (co == 0) { document.write('Your search did not match any documents.<p>Make sure all keywords are spelt correctly.<br>Try different or more general keywords.'); return; } for (var a = 0; a < r.length; a++) { var os = r[a].split("^"); if (bold == 1 && m == 1) { var br = "<b>" + d + "</b>"; os[2] = os[2].replace(pat, br); } if (include_num == 1) { document.write(a + 1, '. <a href="', os[1], '">', os[0], '</a><br>', os[2], '<p>'); } else { document.write('<a href="', os[1], '">', os[0], '</a><br>', os[2], '<p>'); } } } You can see the search feature in action at http://qualityhealthplans.com It works great but I want to be able to select a particular page hyperlink and open it in a new window without leaving the search results page. Can anyone help? Hey guys, I have a quick question for you today I am coding a little login script, just password, the security is meant to be weak I'm using it as a teaching aid: Here is my problem, I want it to go to a page if the password is true, and go to another if it isnt, my code will explain. The window.open works but it takes you to another tab I want it to load in the same place. CODE:http://codepad.org/s34r3BQl Thanks in advanced Owen when a user click on a link, it would open a new window in HTML it is something like this: Code: <a href="http://google.com" target="_blank">click here</a> How do I do this in Javascript? So a user would click on the link and it would open a new window. Here's my code Code: document.writeln('<tr><td>' + "http://google.com" + '</td></tr>'); I know window.open(url) would open a new window, but how do I make it clickable?? Any comments or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thanks Hi Folks, here is the weirdest problem. I want open a url in the same window, replacing the current page. To test this I have created a simple script. The setup: I have two files in the same folder. abc.html and xyz.html. abc.html contains a button that calls this script: Code: function openWindow() { window.open( "xyz.html" ) ; } And this works fine, just as a test. But I want to open xyz.html in the same window, replacing abc.html . So I try: Code: window.open( "xyz.html" , "_self" ) ; does not work but simply reloads abc.html. I try: Code: window.location.href = "xyz.html"; does not work, but, again, simply reloads abc.html. What gives? The odd thing is, when it reloads the same page, abc.html, the address bar displays this at the end of the address: abc.html?button=Submit Any ideas on what may be going wrong here, or how I can get this to work? All this is being tested locally on my laptop - MacBook - and have tested in Safari and Firefox with the same results for both. Thanks in advance! Hi all, I found this bookmarklet which I'm using in Firefox. Would anyone here be willing to modify it to display its results in a new tab, instead of using the current tab? Thanks in advance. Code: javascript:q=""+(window.getSelection?window.getSelection():document.getSelection? document.getSelection():document.selection.createRange().text);if(!q) q=prompt("Search terms [leave selection and box blank to list all pages] ...").replace(/\s\+/g,"%252B");if(q!=null)location="http://www.google.com /search?q="+q.replace(/\s+/g,"+")+"+site:"+location.hostname;void(0); Hi, I am trying to open a FTP file in IE 6, but Its not opening, it throws "Page cannot be Displayed" message. Its work fine in Firefox. Below is the code: <A href="ftp://sysvine.lmt.com/reports/chart.doc">Category Chart</A> even I tried like this: <A href="ftp://username:password@sysvine.lmt.com/reports/chart.doc">Category Chart</A> Please let me know if there is any workaround.
