JavaScript - Help On Javascript Function To Dynamically Calculate
Hi everyone,
I am pretty new to JS and I am looking for help writing a function that will dynamically calculate filed values. I have a PHP-generated form which may have a varying number of fields. I need to: 1. calculate the line total for each row -- unitprice * units = linetotal 2. calculate total of all linetotals. I have named my fields as follows: unitprice[1], unitprice[2]... , units[1], units[2], ... I have the following calculate function: Code: function calculateOld() {

This does calculate what I need but only if I have up to two rows. I need to make the function dynamically count how many rows there are, and calculate the linetotal for each row. And here's where my limited JS knowledge brings me to a halt. I have been thinking about what this new and dynamic function should look like, but that's the best I could produce... The <div class="child"> width value is always 10 pixels less than <div id="parent"> width value. How can it be calculated so any width value is given to <div id="parent">, its child gets 10 pixels less than that? Any help is very much appreciated! What should be happening: The 'onchange' command should pass the 'price' of the item to the function, the function should then cycle through all the dropdowns (or checkboxes or fields) and calculate the total. What is happening: It is only picking up the last checkbox. It seems that the 'for' loop only remembers the last item in the array. What am I doing wrong? Lottery: A tax on people who are bad at math. I've been messing with this code for about a couple of hours, and I did everything down to the wire..yet still I am unable to get it to work. When I input the numbers, and click off to the side nothing appears down at the final textarea of the form which is suppose to show the average. I've tried just about everything, sadly all I have to go by is other example codes, and the very intricate instructions which states I must pass the values to the calcAvg() to the second function of performCalc(), which I did, and then I assigned the var calcResult another value. From there I did the return..and after that I'm rather loss as to what to do next to get this code to work, any tips? Code:

There is a function "func" and with the above method i want to add a new function "newfunc" to this function, so when i call "func" in the futur, both functions will be executed. It works good, but suppose i want to add multiple functions to func, each time with the described method...could there be a problem with the stack? As far as i understand, the program creates something like a wrapper-function each time, that contains the two functions it combines. So in the case of adding 3 functions, a call of "func" would lead to this: call "wrapper 2", call "wrapper 1", call func1, call func2, call func3, call func 4. The really poor graphic should illustrate what i mean __________ F1|....|....| __|W1|....| F2|....|....| __|___|W2| ...|F3 |....| ...|___|___| ..........| F4| ..........|___| Has anyone an idea, if my thoughts on that are correct oder if this behaviour could be a problem? I am working on a form that has 15 rows for order entry. This works fine for the first row, but I need it to scale for the rest of the rows, and also allow for future addition/expansion. Unfortunately, I am Javascript-tarded and can't figure it out, despite numerous examples online... I also need to find a way to recalculate the "grandtotal" box on the form based on whether or not the checkbox called "taxChecked" is checked. If the user checks it, I need it to recalculate the "grandtotal" field with a tax rate, and if they un-check it, it should recalcuate "grandtotal" WITHOUT the tax rate. Everything works fine except for the onclick event. In the hover message of the icon, the correct project ID is displayed in the message, hoever in the function, the onclick funtion always loads the page with the last set project id. How can I pass the project id into the onclick function and make it stay fixed and not be the value of that it was last set to? TIA, Dale Hi everyone. New to javascript here.... I would like to somehow make it so that when I click on something in one frame (with one PHP page loaded in it - game.php), it automatically/dynamically updates one of the other PHP pages (inventory.php) in another frame. What will happen is when the thing is clicked on in game.php, an entry will be added to the database, and the second PHP page (which retrieves information from the database) will notice that there is a new relevant record, and will add it to the inventory.php page in the table I have constructed there. From my googling it seems I need to use JavaScript to do this, but I'm not quite sure how - any ideas ? Thanks very much! |
