Hello,
I'm trying to remove one of the $ signs from this string below. I've gotten as far as removing them both. I'm having trouble removing one of them. Can someone help? Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ /*v = $("span.name").html().replace(/,/g,''); $("span.name").html(v);*/ v = $("div.test td").html().replace(/\$/g,''); $("div.test td").html(v); }); </script> <!-- <span class="name"><span class="gost">Yahoo</span>, </span>--> <div class="test"> <table><tr> <td>3-7 Business Days $$0</td></tr></table> </div> </body> </html> Similar TutorialsIs it possible to convert "xyz123456xyz789" into "123456xyz789"? What I'm trying to say is, remove the first occurence of "xyz" from the string, so that all the other occurrences of "xyz" that aren't the first one, remain. Help is appreciated. Thanks, Jazzo So say if my string was.. Code: a = "Hello"; alert(a); How do I get it to say; Code: alert("ello"); So how do I take off the 'H' in this example.. Suppose I have the string 'ello'. I want to insert the letter 'h' in the beginning of that string. How do I do that without using a special function? I can only use the functions charAt and indexOf - anyone has any idea? Hi all I am fairly used to programming, but not javascript, and I'm struggling a bit here... I am building a string inside a variable prior to printing it on screen as follows : Code: myclock += hours+':'+minutes; where "hours" and "minutes" are variables initialised elsewhere. How can I add a carriage return or new line character to the end of this line, so that anything else cocatenated to this variable is displayed on the next line. Thanks and have a nice evening. DeeJayBee Is there a way to do this? Maybe something like this... Code: $("td:contains(' ')").css("display", "none"); Although for whatever reason, the code above isn't working... Hi. I have a script which adds table rows dynamically to a table, when I delete a few removes with the jquery .remove(); sometimes the browser hangs and I have to refresh the page to make the page to work. Any ideas? I was thinking to put a sleep or timeout command just after the row removal, because if I remove rows slowly it won't crash, but if you remove 3-4 rows quickly it will crash, please help! Hi. I want to make jQuery check, whether if I've supplied text into all fields. If not, then jQuery adds some styling to the input boxes pointing out, the user must type something. However, I do not want to do many, many lines of jQuery to do this with all of the inputs. Is there a way to check which input is empty, and then add styling to the individual one? And then remove the style, if it's no longer empty. Like - ONE piece of code, that checks all of the inputs, and adds style to the ones, that are empty. Here's what I have right now. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ $('#register').click(function(){ var username = $('#username').val(); var password = $('#password').val(); if(username == ""){ $('#username').css({ background: '#F3CACA', border: '1px solid #E61A1A' }); }else{ $('#username').removeAttr('style'); } return false; }); }); </script> I played around with if(username == "" || password == ""). It works, but then I got lost on how to add styles to the individual input that is empty. is there a function in JS to remove a string from some text but without using the replace function? I am removing a specific string from my text using and using the replace function of the match text with a non breaking space but what i really do not want to add anything to my html. The replace is been place in a visual editor box after the user adds text and save the form, this is the code i am using to replace the code, i am using a regular expression to look for <META content="MSHTML 6.00.6000.16890" name="GENERATOR"><LINK title="/iw/ewebeditpro20/ektnormal.css" href="/iw/ewebeditpro20/ektnormal.css" rel="stylesheet"> : // Pass 1 - Removes extra code checks on Regular Expression inside replace function var newstrchanged = strEscaped.replace(/^%26%2365279%3B%20%3CMETA%20content%3D%22MSHTML%20.+.stylesheet%22%3E/g, ''); First of all, I wanna make my code using (while loop, do while loop, int, double, if, else, else if, Math.random, Scanner-- not string or boolean). -Actually the game goes like, after the user and the computer has has selections it is gonna be displayed and then tell who wins and who does not--I dont know how to do it. - When user presses 4, the the computer tells wins, loses and ties. This happens to me after two tries, wheteher i press 4 or not.(actully its |y/n| in mine and i want to change it to just 4 to quit). -The user is only allowed numbers from 1 to 4, but apparently, i add any number and it works. -My code gos like this: import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Random; public class boobitty { public static void main (String[] args) { int Computer=0,Player=0,tie=0,compic,pscore; String str="y"; Random generate= new Random(); Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in); while (str.equals("y")) { compic=generate.nextInt(3)+1; System.out.println ("Enter 1 for Rock, 2 for Paper, and 3 for Scissors"); pscore=scan.nextInt(); if (compic==pscore) { System.out.println("Tie Game"); tie++; } else { switch (pscore) { case 1: { if (compic==2) { System.out.println ("Paper beats Rock"); System.out.println ("Computer wins"); Computer++; } else { System.out.println ("Rock beats Scissors"); System.out.println ("Player wins!"); Player++; } break; } case 2: { if (compic==1) { System.out.println ("Paper beats Rock"); System.out.println ("Player wins!"); Player++; } else { System.out.println ("Scissors beat Paper"); System.out.println ("Computer wins!"); Computer++; } break; } case 3: { if (compic==1) { System.out.println ("Rock beats Scissors"); System.out.println ("Computer wins"); Computer++; } else { System.out.println ("Scissors beat Paper"); System.out.println ("Player wins"); Player++; } break; } default: { System.out.println("Enter 1 2 or 3"); break; } } } Scanner scen = new Scanner (System.in); System.out.println ("Play again? y/n"); str = scen.nextLine(); if(!(str.equals("y"))) { System.out.println ("Scores:"); System.out.println ("Ties= "+tie+" Wins= "+Player+" Losses= "+Computer); } else { System.out.println ("playing again"); } } } } I am trying to set up a script that looks in the code on one page, counts the number of instances of an element by ID, and then delivers that information back to another page in order to set the height for an area on that page. Context: I have a PHP page with an include statement and the included content is overflowing. Scrolls won't emerge (IMO) unless the container PHP page is told what is the height of the included content. I know almost nothing about javascript, so this is becoming a significant challenge. I cobbled together two scripts, just to get started: one that searches for occurrences of a word in a document, and another that converts that information into the height for the "div" tag in my PHP page. Obvious issues: 1) The first script will not search outside of the form for the word occurrence. I don't even want the count to be delivered in a form; I want it passed to the second script without any user involvement at all. 2) I am not sure how to set write the code so that it searches another document entirely. I bookmarked this site thinking that there might be some solutions in there. Code: <script language="Javascript"> function countInstances(string, word) { var substrings = string.split("navpic3"); return substrings.length - 1; } </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var thumbinstance=countInstances var thumbheight=[(50*thumbinstance)+300] function menuspace(images){ document.write("<div style="+'"'+"height: "+thumbheight+"px;"+'"'+">") } </script> <script type="text/javascript">menuspace(255)</script>content</div> <form> <input type="label" name="string" value="navpic3 navpic3"> <input type="button" value="count instances" onClick="document.write(countInstances(string.value))"> </form> Thanks in advance for any help. Elizabeth So, i have this code which retrieves php files for me using jquery and id love to get it working with Jquery history plugin. I tried modifying the code i got from the ajax demo to work for me, but i just couldnt do it as i do not know any javascript really.. ( actually what i tried was simply to change "#ajax-links a" to "#menu li a" and .html to .php ..but nothing.. Id be very gratefull if someone would help me out with this one. All related code can be found bellow (the ones that should be needed anyways): This is the code that retrieves php files inside "#content" when item from "#menu li a" with the specified id is clicked Code: $(document).ready(function(){ //References var change = $("#menu li a"); var loading = $("#loading"); var content = $("#content"); //Manage click events change.click(function(){ //show the loading bar showLoading(); //load selected section if(this.id == "home") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/index.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else if(this.id == "secondpage") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/secondpage.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else { //hide loading bar if there is no selected section hideLoading(); } }); //show loading bar function showLoading(){ loading .css({visibility:"visible"}) .css({opacity:"1"}) .css({display:"block"}) ; } //hide loading bar function hideLoading(){ loading.fadeTo(1000, 0); }; }); Heres the structure of the menu/content Code: <ul id="menu"> <li><a id="home" class="normal" href="#Home"></a></li> <li><a id="secondpage" class="normal" href="#Secondpage"></a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> <ul id="sec-menu"> <li><a id="link1" class="normal" href="#">Link1</a></li> <li><a id="link2" class="normal" href="#">Link2</a></li> </ul> </div> Heres the code that jquery history plugin uses in demo for ajax Code: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#content').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#ajax-links a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); hi, i have a jquery problem... this script is not working with jquery-1.4.2.min, but it works with jquery-1.2.6.min.js, can anyone help me???the script is the above: (it is not working the tab actions, the slideout works...) http://www.benjaminsterling.com/wp-c...es/sidetab.htm the javascript code is the above: PHP Code: var jqsideTabs; var tabs, h = 50, r = 0,ra = 0; $(document) .ready(function(){ jqsideTabs = $('#sideTabs').addClass('closed'); tabs = jqsideTabs .find('.tab h3') .clone() .appendTo(jqsideTabs) .each(function(i){ var that = $(this), cls = '',ow,newThis, newEl; if( i == 0 ) cls = ' active'; newEl = $('<a href="#" class="tabLinks'+cls+'">' + that.text() + '</a>'); that.replaceWith(newEl); ow = newEl.outerWidth(); if( i == 0 ) ra = ow; else r = ow; h = newEl.css({'top':h , 'right': -ow }).height() + h; newThis = newEl.get(0); newThis.jq = newEl; newThis.i = i; newEl.click(function(){ var el = this.jq; if( jqsideTabs.hasClass( 'closed' ) ){ jqsideTabs.removeClass('closed'); } else if( !jqsideTabs.hasClass( 'closed' ) && el.hasClass('active') ){ jqsideTabs.addClass('closed'); } el .siblings() .removeClass('active') .css({'right': -r }) .end() .addClass('active') .css({'right': -ra }); tabs.eq( this.i ).show().siblings('.tab').hide(); return false; }); }) .end() .parent() .eq(0) .addClass('active') .end() .filter(':not(:eq(0))') .hide() .end(); jqsideTabs.bind("mouseleave",function(){ jqsideTabs .animate({left:-310}, 'fast', function(){ jqsideTabs.addClass('closed').removeAttr('style'); }); }); }); and the html file is: [HTML] <div id="sideTabs"> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 1</h3> <div class="gut"> <p>Some text</p> </div> </div> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 2</h3> <div class="gut"> <ul> <li>link</li> </ul> </div> </div> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 3</h3> <div class="gut"> <ul> <li>link</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> [/HTML] the problem is that the tab button works, but the content doesnt change...in all of tabs showing the same text(showing all tbas content).... can anyone help...please..... i keep getting the error GET http://code.jquery.com/jquery.min.map net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS & Failed to load resource: net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS when i load my page...and the havascript doesn't work properly on ym page...how do i resolve this. thanx in advance var s="attr" var i=$(s) // jQuery(elem).attr(attr, eval("elm"+attr)); jQuery(elem).$(s)(attr,eval("elm"+attr));//i tried this. how to assign a variable name in the above code(in place of s) so that i need to add an attribute to the element "elem". Hey all, I have a simple example below showing how when I pass in the value of the value attribute of option node, and then use if operator to check whether parameter is a string or not, even though it's a string, it converts it to false boolean and triggers the else statement rather than calling a function: Code: <body> <select> <option value="createMsg">Add Message</option> <option value="removeMsg">Remove Message</option> </select> </body> Code: var menu = { handleMenu : function(callback){ if(callback === "string"){ menu[callback](); } else { console.log("Issue occurred") } }, createMsg : function(){ var content = document.createTextNode("Please give additional information."), heading = document.createElement("h1"); heading.appendChild(content); document.body.appendChild(heading); }, removeMsg : function(){ } } document.getElementsByTagName('select')[0].onchange = function(){ menu.handleMenu(this.value)}; callback should be a string so why is it saying otherwise? Thanks for response Specifically i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to select the specific character when hovering over a word? I have not been able to find any documentation on this however, there is a demo site i found for a plugin that allows character selection. http://labs.bitmeister.jp/moamoa/demo.html i dont need anything that large and elaborate... Edit I'm pretty wel experinced with jquery, I know it's possible with jquery Hi Im new to javascript and need some help with a project I have, the task I have is: Create a page that can take a bloke of text and out put the following o How many times each letter occurs o How many spaces o How many words o How many times each word occurs o A list of things that are not words or special characters I think maybe use an array but im not sure, like I said im new to this so not too sure on how to do it. I know it would read into a file say a txt file and sort through it this way, possibly using some kind of loop to read through all of the text before sorting it and I know it might use variables. I know how to kind of work through the task I have, but to actually implement the mechanics of the javascript is something that I then struggle with Thanks to all that help. Hi all, I cant get this code to work because I do not know how to include the % character. Any help would be appreciated. My line break isnt working either Cheers, Adrian Code: rightButton.innerHTML = (rightOutcome1Prob+" chance of "+rightOutcome1+"\r\n else "+rightOutcome2); |
