JavaScript - Javascript To Display Financial Period Number Based On 4 Weekly Runnig Date
Similar TutorialsI'm new to coding and recently undertook the position as my school district's webmaster. We use a six day schedule where the days are labeled A-F. I want to be able to display the Today is...A graphic based on the date. I tried some scripts from other forums, but it does not appear to be working. Any suggestions? TY <code> <script language="javascript"> <!-- var picture=''; mytime=new Date(); mymonth=mytime.getMonth()+1; mydate=mytime.getDate(); if (mymonth==9 && mydate==13){picture="<img src=/images/d.gif>"; } if (mymonth==9 && mydate==14){picture="<img src=/images/e.gif width=150 height=150 alt=E>"; } if (mymonth==9 && mydate==15){picture="<img src=/images/f.gif width=150 height=150 alt=F>"; } if (mymonth==9 && mydate==16){picture="<img src=/images/A.gif width=150 height=150 alt=A>"; } if (mymonth==9 && mydate==19){picture="<img src=/images/B.gif width=150 height=150 alt=B>"; } if (mymonth==9 && mydate==20){picture="<img src=/images/c.gif width=150 height=150 alt=C>"; } //--> </script></code> I am very new to Javascript and I am hopeful someone can help me with this issue. I am trying to create a weekly countdown timer that will countdown until a certain date and time in the week (Friday at 4 PM EST). Once that date is reached I would like to have the counter reset automatically and once the date and time is reached I would like to have the counter show the remaining time until the next 4 PM on Friday. I would like to be able to show how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left between the current time and set time. I have found some code on this site already and I have started to modify it to try and achieve what I am after but I am running into issues. I can not get my day calculation to work as well as figure out how to change the end date that the timer counts down until. I had thought about calculating the seconds left until that date and subtracting the current time (seconds) from that number to give me a time value, but I'm not sure if that is the best practice? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my code: Code: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> function getSeconds() { var now = new Date(); var time = now.getTime(); // time now in milliseconds var midnight = new Date(now.getFullYear(),now.getMonth(),now.getDate(),0,15,0); // midnight 0000 hrs // midnight - change time hh,mm,ss to whatever time required, e.g. 9,15,0 (0915) var ft = midnight.getTime() + 86400000 + 43200000; // add one day 12 hours var offset = now.getTimezoneOffset(); // local time in minutes vs GMT offset = offset * 60000; // milliseconds ft = ft + offset; var diff = ft - time; diff = parseInt(diff/1000); if (diff > 129600) {diff = diff - 129600} startTimer (diff); } var timeInSecs; var ticker; function startTimer(secs){ timeInSecs = parseInt(secs); ticker = setInterval("tick()",1000); tick(); // to start counter display right away } function tick() { var secs = timeInSecs; if (secs>0) { timeInSecs--; } else { clearInterval(ticker); // stop counting at zero //getSeconds(); // and start again if required } var days = Math.floor(secs/864000); secs %= 86400; var hours= Math.floor(secs/3600); secs %= 3600; var mins = Math.floor(secs/60); secs %= 60; var result = + days + " days " + ((hours < 10 ) ? "0" : "" ) + hours + " hours " + ( (mins < 10) ? "0" : "" ) + mins + " minutes " + ( (secs < 10) ? "0" : "" ) + secs + " seconds "; document.getElementById("countdown").innerHTML = result; } </script> </head> <body onload = "getSeconds()"> <span id="countdown" style="font-weight: bold;"></span> </body> </html> Hello. I open a new forum thread as adviced by jmrker. Old forum thread related to this topic: http://www.codingforums.com/showthre...8#post12243889 Here is my code, based on the latest Philip M's work : Code: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> var cday; var timeInSecs; var ticker; function getSeconds() { var now = new Date(); var nowtime= now.getTime(); // time now in milliseconds var countdowntime = new Date(now.getFullYear(),now.getMonth(),now.getDate(),20,0,0); // 16 hrs = 4 pm // countdowntime - change time hh,mm,ss to whatever time required, e.g. 7,50,0 (0750) var dy = 5 ; // Friday (day 5) - change for other days 0-6 var atime = countdowntime.getTime(); var diff = parseInt((atime - nowtime)/1000); // positive if date is in future if (diff >0) { cday = dy - now.getDay(); } else { cday = dy - now.getDay() -1; } if (cday < 0) { cday += 7; } // aleady passed countdown time, so go for next week if (diff <= 0) { diff += (86400 * 7) } startTimer (diff); } function startTimer(secs) { timeInSecs = parseInt(secs); ticker = setInterval("tick()",1000); tick(); // to start counter display right away } function tick() { var secs = timeInSecs; if (secs>0) { timeInSecs--; } else { clearInterval(ticker); // stop counting at zero getSeconds(); // and start all over again! } var days = Math.floor(secs/86400); secs %= 86400; var hours= Math.floor(secs/3600); secs %= 3600; var mins = Math.floor(secs/60); secs %= 60; var result = days +':'; result += ((hours < 10 ) ? "0":"" ) + hours + ":" + ( (mins < 10) ? "0" : "" ) + mins + ":" + ( (secs < 10) ? "0":"" ) + secs + ""; document.getElementById("countdown").innerHTML = result; } </script> </head> <body onload = "getSeconds()" style="background-color: #ffffff;"> <br><br> <div id="CountDownLogo" style="background-color: #ffffff; width:300px; height: 180px; background-image:url(ScreenShot002.png) "> <span id="title" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 20; font-weight: bold; color: #ffffff; position: relative; top:27px; left:60px; z-index:1;">Weekend Cup 2012</span> <br><br> <span id="countdown" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 25; font-weight: bold; color: #3b3b3b; position: relative; top:34px; left:127px; z-index:1;"> </span> <br><br> </div> </body> </html> My event takes place at 8pm on fridays. To see if this script works in all conditions, I change my system date and time (to see if the script displays the good remaining duration). TESTS: Friday - So I set my system date on friday but at different times. When I do that, everything seems to work fine. - If I chose an earlier time (11am for example), it's fine too. - If I chose 7:59:45 pm (and wait a few seconds) I can see the countdown resetting and displaying 6 days 23 hours 59 min 59 sec. So it's fine too. Saturday - But if I chose saturday 00:00:01 am it doesn't work. It displays 0:19:59:59 (as if the event occured the same day, saturday). - And if I chose saturday 7:59:45 pm, the counter resets and displays 6 days 23 hours 59 min 59 sec.. Which is also wrong because it would mean that the even occurs on saturdays 8pm. Sunday - Same for sunday (the same errors like saturdays) Btw, could it be possible to display on the HTML page, all variable values ? This could help me understand how the script is done. (I am a poor coder). Thank you very much. I'm trying to find a way to display a future date in short format (as an expiration date) with Javascript. I've figured out how to do it with long format, but have no idea how to convert it and I'm not great with Javascript. Here is code that I found on another forum and modified: Code: <!doctype html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <!doctype html> <head> <title>Expires</title> </head> <body> <script> var myDelayInDays=6, myDate=new Date(); myDate.setDate(myDate.getDate()+myDelayInDays); document.write('Expires: ' + myDate.toLocaleDateString()); </script> </body> </html> </body> </html> Which displays: "Expires: Monday, May 21, 2012" I would like it to display: "Expires: 05/21/2012" Can anyone help?! I have a function below where every time a question is submitted, it will add a new row in the table with a textbox which allows numbers entry only. My question is that I don't know how to code these features in this function: 1: I want the text box to be between 0 and 100, so if text box contains a number which is above 100, it will automatically change the number to the maximum number which is 100. Does any one know how to code this in my function below in javascript: Code: function insertQuestion(form) { var row = document.createElement("tr"); var cell, input; cell = document.createElement("td"); cell.className = "weight"; input = document.createElement("input"); input.name = "weight_" + qnum; input.onkeypress = "return isNumberKey(event)"; cell.appendChild(input); row.appendChild(cell); } I have a drop down menu where people can select a month, day and year. Based on their selection, I want to show them an image. If their selection is >= July 26, 2010 but <= July 25, 2011, show the red image; If their selection is >= July 26, 2011 but <= July 25, 2012, show the white image; If their selection is >= July 26, 2012 but <= July 25, 2013, show the blue image; If their selection is >= July 26, 2013 but <= July 25, 2014, show the yellow image; I don't know how to compare a selected date to a range of dates like this. I am delving into the coding world and while I understand the basic principle of cookies, conditional statements, arrays, etc... I am still learning how to properly implement them. Any asistance with the following situation would be greatly appreciated and help with my learning as I try to reverse engineer the logic. I have looked around the web and this forum with little success. If the situation below is too complicated, I would really appreciate even a shove in the right direction regarding the logic. ----------------- How could I show a preset counter which counts up from a preset, beginning number toward a preset, end number? I imagine the increment and speed is set be the difference between the two numbers and a timeframe. Assumptions: I would rather not set the increment but edit the end number to show a steady increase. As I update that number, the increment adapts dynamically. I would want the number/script to be useful, so it should not refresh to the beginning number on each page load (i.e. num=0). When a visitor comes to the page, it must seem like the counter has been steadily been increasing in their absence. Coke or Pesi did something similar one time regarding cans sold to date (doubt it was plugged into a DB somewhere but rather based on a steady sales figure) and it was pretty cool. All the best! Hi all, I currently have this javascript that will change the cell to green with one click... Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function ColorChange(obj){ obj.style.color='#FFFFFF'; obj.style.backgroundColor='#66CC33'; obj.parentNode.style.backgroundColor='#66CC33'; } </script> echo "<td align=\"center\" bgcolor=\"#EEEEEE\"><a href=\"#\" onclick=\"ColorChange(this)\">$day_num</a></td>"; the problem is that I need around 3 different colors to be possible.. e.g. 1 click turns cell green | 2 turns is red | 3 turns it orange. I'm not sure how to take this javascript further? Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Greens85 Need help - sorry for the novice-ness of this. Have a computed field ("Subtotal"). With that number, need to set up rule such that if Subtotal is a certain number, a certain number will print in the new field (lets call it "First"). Here's what I have so far... var a=getField("Subtotal").value; var b=5000; var c=9000; var d=33000; var e=53000; var f=68000; var g=78000; var h=83000; var i=0; Code: if (a.value<=100000){ event.value=b } else if (a.value<=200000 && a>100000){ event.value=c.value } else if (a.value<=1000000 && a>200000){ event.value=d.value } else if (a.value<=2000000 && a>1000000){ event.value=e.value } else if (a.value<=3000000 && a>2000000){ event.value=f.value } else if (a.value<=4000000 && a>3000000){ event.value=g.value } else if (a.value<=5000000 && a>4000000){ event.value=h.value } else if (a.value==0){ event.value=i.value } Any thoughts??? Help is GREATLY appreciated. D I am working on an HTML project that displays a field with a number in the field by each day. What it does is start at 0 on day one. Each day it adds a 1 to the field. Day 2, the field would say 1, then day 3 would say 2, and so on. I am not sure how to approach this. This is also displayed in an HTML format. I want to to be automatic and change as the date changes. I will also need a way to reset it back to zero if possible.
I'm not too sure how to approach this but I have a date input that uses a jQuery pop-up for a calendar, and enters the date in a format d MMM yy (1 Jan 11). Not everyone wants to be clicking and choosing the date from the calendar but to be entering it just as a number such as 0101, 010111 or 01012011 which can be faster. This would then need to be converted to the d MMM yy format as per the jQuery pop-up when they exit the input box. So really only if it's a number format it needs to look at the number of digits... and does the conversion. Has anyone done something like this before? Or is there a link to how I could go about achieving this? Many thanks David Hello all. I have created a 2 frame site where I want the top frame (header) to redirect the other frame (main) to a different page depending on the date, time, and second. For example, on 12 FEB at 07:00:00, I would like the header frame to redirect the main frames page to EmmasBday.html; in which I would be alerted of my little sisters Birthday. This is for personal use and isn't going to be hosted online so I will just use JavaScript, it's basically a simple system to remind me of crucial events at certain times and dates so I don't forget them. The same events will apply every year, so there is no need to programme in specific years although having the option could prove useful. I am aware of other alternatives to achieve this, but would very much like to work with JavaScript; as I can expand it. As I state, this is for personal use and therefore won't be hosting it; I will use JavaScript throughout and cannot use anything else like PHP, Perl, etc. I am aware JavaScript takes the time & date from the computer hosting it (unlike PHP), which is fine. So, for example; at 14:30:00 I will be informed to get dinner; and at 15:00:45 I'll be informed to study. The knowledge you guys have presented so far is phenomenal, and I couldn't think of anybody better to ask for assistance. Anyway, I hope you can resolve my problem and I'm looking forward to a response! Thanks for your concern, you brain Gods you! AHa. Hi guys. I am kind of new to javascript, and was hoping that someone here could help out on a problem I have been having. What I am trying to do is to make a page which will redirect to three diffrent sites, based on date. I want it to change to diffrent sites during the time before summer to summer, the time before xmas till xmas and from before easter till easter. A bit more spesific this would be: From 29. march --> 22. july (summer) From 22. august --> 24. december (xmas) From 3. january --> 22. march (easter) Could you help me out? I have tried lots of diffrent ways to do this with javascripts if...else statements, but I havent yet found a way to make it work properly. Really thankful for answers! Javascript novice here looking to create a dynamic dropdown based on date. It's a list of preset prices that will change each month to reflect a pro-rated system. Any thoughts/examples on how I would go about setting this up using javascript would be much appreciated. Thanks. Here's what I need: In September, the dropdown will display these prices Code: <option value="100">Product 1</option> <option value="150">Product 2</option> <option value="200">Product 3</option> In October, the dropdown will display these prices <option value="50">Product 1</option> <option value="100">Product 2</option> <option value="150">Product 3</option> I have this script that I got from some site. When you click on a link tied to a div it hides all other divs and displays just that one. Well, that works, but I want it to display one of the divs on page load based on today's date. For example, it will display the "summer" div if today's date is anywhere between June 1 and August 31. When links to other divs are clicked that div will disappear and other ones will appear in its place. Anyway, here's the code, and I don't know anything about javascript so I have no idea where to even start editing it. Please help Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- Layer Show/Hide Script last="" function changeDiv(the_div,the_change) { var the_style = getStyleObject(the_div); if (the_style != false) { the_style.display = "block" if(last!="") { last.display = "none" } } last=the_style } function getStyleObject(objectId) { if (document.getElementById && document.getElementById(objectId)) { return document.getElementById(objectId).style; } else if (document.all && document.all(objectId)) { return document.all(objectId).style; } else { return false; } } //--> </script> Hello, I've been trying to figure this script out for awhile and I've hit a wall. Basically, what I want to do for my organization's website is to use JS to display an image containing our hours and have it change each day of the week. The hard part (for me) is that there are certain days we're closed. Ideally, I'd like a separate "We're Closed" message to overwrite the image carrying our hours on specific days (major holidays like Xmas, New Years, Vet's Day, furlough periods, etc. etc.). Here's the code I've managed to cobble together (I have a real basic understanding of JS, so I've been pulling scripts from sites offering free copy/pastecode): [CODE] <script language="javascript"> mytime=new Date(); mymonth=mytime.getMonth()+1; mydate=mytime.getDate(); myday=mytime.getDay(); arday = new Array("sunday.png", "monday.png", "tuesday.png", "wednesday.png", "thursday.png", "friday.png", "saturday.png"); document.write("<img src='" + arday[myday] + "'>"); if (mymonth==12 && mydate==24){document.write("<img src='closure.png'>"); } </script> [CODE] For the most part, this code works just fine. However, if I jump my system clock to December 24, the "closure.png" comes up appears ALONGSIDE the hours image for that day of the week. In other words, I've got two images appearing right next to each other - that's not what I want. How can I work the code in such a way that when a closure date comes up (in this case, 12/24), just the "closure.png" image shows up by itself? Thank you all so much for your time and patience. Hi All, I have a form that captures member registration details. In the admin section .. I would like to change the Status field of a record/s from NEW to PAYMENT DUE after 14 days from the data of submission. The status change should automatically trigger on the 15th day. So when the admin checks the list page he/she should be able to view the updated status field. Any pointers how to accomplish this? Thanks in advance. Vinny Not sure if this is possible in javascript: I'm looking for two different dates (bill date and due date) on an invoice that are captured by OCR. If one of them exists, but the other does not, I want the empty field to be 14 days before (or after) the other. For example: if the bill date is 7/27/2010 and the due date was not captured, I want to set the due date as 8/10/2010 (14 days after the bill date). If the due date was captured as 8/10/2010, but the due date is blank, I want to assign the bill date as 7/27/2010 (14 days before the due date). if both dates have values, do nothing. Thanks. Just wondering what the code is for a phone number to be displayed nn-nnnnnnnn for example: 67 43289482 current code is Code: var pn = document.contact_form.phonenum.value; if ((pn.length != 10) || (/[^0-9]/g.test(pn))) { // 10-digit phone number alert ( "Please fill in your 10-digit telephone number" ); return false; } |
