JavaScript - Using Button To Trigger Confirmation Window And Then Post A Variable
Code:
<fieldset class="submit" style="padding-left: 200px;"> <?php if ($site_exist >= 1){ echo "<input type=\"submit\" name=\"submit\" value=\"Update\">"; } else { echo "<input type=\"submit\" name=\"submit\" value=\"Submit\">";} ?> <!-- This is the button I am having trouble with. --> <input type="button" name="delete" value="Delete" onClick="return confirmSubmit()"> </fieldset> </form> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- function confirmSubmit(){ var agree=confirm("Are you want to delete this site from our index?"); if (agree) return true ; else return false ; } // --> </script> Not entirely sure which forum this should go in, since the problem could probably be fixed with HTML, PHP or Javascript. Anyway, I have the confirmation window working. What I need is for the button to post a variable (siteDelete = 'true') when it is pressed. I would prefer to do that part without javascript, but I want the data to be posted after and only after the confirmation window returns true. I can do that with a submit button, but I'm not sure what code to use and where to use it when using a non-submit button. Similar TutorialsI can't seem to figure out how to post a variable to a javascript pop-up window. I'm trying to get a the users input to post directly to the URL. For example: Code: <!--Pop-up--> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function expo() { window.open( "export.php?&export=<?PHP $myvar = $_POST['exportthis']; echo $myvar; ?>", "myWindow", "status = 1, height = 300, width = 300, resizable = 0" ) } //--> </script> <form action="" method="post"><input type=text value="pass-this-variable" name="exportthis"> <input type=button value="Export" name="Exp" onClick="expo()"> </form> Any suggestions? I am quite unexperienced in javascript (my only related experience is work with actionscript), so this problem is likely extremely simple. I am trying to alter a bit of code from a Firefox Jetpack extension (ClicktoFlash, if that helps) to suit my needs, and am having some trouble executing a time based event. The pertinent section of the extension's code is as follows: Code: placeHolder.click(function(eventObject){ $(this).replaceWith(jQuery.data( placeHolder, "myEmbed") ); }); The bit of code executed within the function is what I wish to maintain, but I want the code to instead be executed within a certain timeframe. My makeshift attempt to alter the code read like this: Code: var currentTime = new Date(); var hour = currentTime.getHours(); if((hour >= 2) && (hour < 7)){ $(this).replaceWith(jQuery.data( placeHolder, "myEmbed") ); }; This didn't work quite like I had hoped (though I think the code itself is solid), and I think under the circumstances I might need to replicate the placeHolder.click() segment while 7>hour>=2 for the code to execute properly; however, I am having quite a bit of trouble trying to do this. In short, is it possible to trigger a button press without the mouse ever clicking the button, or is there a glaringly apparent easier solution that I'm missing? Thanks in advance. Hello, I need your help. I basically need, when the enter button is pressed on the keyboard to trigger a button. Currently, my code works but it just refreshes the page and does not actually trigger the desired button: Code: //HERES MY CUSTOM BUTTON: <BUTTON TYPE="submit" onMouseOver="goLite(this.name)" onMouseOut="goDim(this.name)" onclick="javascript:v7_search()" CLASS="btn_std" NAME="btn_search" > ? Search </BUTTON> Here's the code to make the enter button work: Code: <form name="frmIMTS" onkeydown="javascript:if (event.which || event.keyCode){if ((event.which == 13) || (event.keyCode == 13)) {document.getElementById('btn_search').click();}};" > Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Cheers, J I have some code that will check a users screen resolution and open a new window with a particular version of my website in, I have several sites for different page sizes. But when this code runs in Safari the pop-up is blocked so I would like the image on my page to be a button that runs the code to open the 'correct' window (based on the screen res) and as a button is launching the new window Safari should be okay about it. Unless I am doing something wrong? http://www.meta.projectmio.com/pop.html But how do I modify the code to do this, I'm hopeless? Thanks. I have a js confirmation function: PHP Code: function r_u_sure(message, url){ if(confirm(message)) location.href = url; } if I were calling this function with a regular href, I would use the following: PHP Code: <a HREF="javascript:r_u_sure('Are Sure You want to Delete or Modify Car Information?!','www.somewhere.com)"><a/> however my html link which begins the deletion process of a records opens a popup box that performs. the link is the following: PHP Code: <a onmouseover='this.style.cursor=\"pointer\" ' onfocus='this.blur();' onclick="document.getElementById('PopUp10').style.display = 'block' \"><span><img border='0' src='../images/editcar_info.png' width='40' height='40' title='Delete or Modify Car'></span></a> Any thoughts on how can conbine both so that onclick of the link, first, the confirm box appears, if "ok" is selected, the pop up box will open, else the dialogue box closes and nothing happens. Mossa-- Hi friends, I am trying to use the window.setTimeout feature so that a message pop-up with yes/no appears on the screen asking whether to extend the session. The actual sessions expires on 5 seconds. *If yes is clicked, the current page reloads. *If no is clicked, nothing happens. (the session will expire anyway). I tried the below but what happens is the new window "foo.php" opens but no POST variables are present and also the parent page refreshes when I want it to remain static. Code: <form method="POST" onsubmit="return validateForm(this) && transferListValuesToCSV(document.theForm.box2) && window.open('foo.php', 'foo', 'width=450,height=300,status=yes,resizable=no,scrollbars=no')"; name="theForm" > Situation: adding code to an HTML page that I can add to, but not change any existing code, as it is from a vendor and gets generated on the fly. I need to add a button within the existing <form></form> construct that already has a submit button and the form has an "action=" in it. What I have done is added <input type=button onClick=myscript().... Myscript() opens a .php file as a popup, positions it correctly, and all that. What it doesn't do is move the values to the .php like a method=POST would. Is there anyway to to do this, or do I have to do a set of document.write statements? Existing code: Code: <!-- vendor's untouchable code --> <form method=post name="MainForm" action="xxx.asp?yyy" onsubmit="the_vendors_code();> <input type="text" name="fielda" value="" > <!-- several more fields --> <!-- my code --> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript" SRC="xxx.js"></SCRIPT> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript"> function popupForm(myForm, windowName) { var scrny=0 ; var scrnx=200 <-! code to set scrny and scrnx based on browser --> fielda_h.value = fielda.value ; <!-- etc ..> <!-- here's the place I need help --> newWin= window.open("myPopup.php", windowName, 'height=600,width=550,and a whole bunch of other parameters') ; newWin.moveTo(scrnx, scrny) ; myForm.rel="nofollow" target=windowName; return true ; } </script> <input type="hidden" name="fielda_h" > <input type="button" name="preview" value="See Preview" onClick="popupForm(this, 'join')"/> Note that some of the code was taken from examples found on the net, so there's not a ton of originality here. So, again, just to restate, I know how to do a submit button/form to do action=post, but I am trying to simulate it with a regular button as I cannot change the existing <form></form> construct. Thanks for any and all pointers. Hi guys, hoping you can help me out again, with this new problem. I've got a form which is acting as a calculator. I am trying to follow this article on doing a POST request with AJAX and PHP and it works fine, but as soon as I switch from the default submit button to an image I get an error. I would really appreciate any assistance on why switching the submit button to an image would affect it. Thanks http://www.hiteshagrawal.com/ajax/form-post-in-php-using-ajax/comment-page-1 Hi guys, I've had a little trouble with this and haven't been able to find answers on google. I'm trying to set up a new window that contains a button. Then, if the user clicks the button, the window would display new information accordingly. I have written a simple test that won't seem to work: Code: <html> <head> <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"> var count = 0; function Window() { MyWindow = window.open('', 'myWin', 'height=250,width=250') MyWindow.document.write('<html>') MyWindow.document.write('<head>') MyWindow.document.write('<\/head>') MyWindow.document.write('<body>') MyWindow.document.write('<FORM method="post" name="aname">') MyWindow.document.write('<INPUT type="button" onclick="newfunc()" name="test" value="Click Me"\/>') MyWindow.document.write('<\/FORM>') MyWindow.document.write('<\/body>') MyWindow.document.write('<\/html>') MyWindow.focus() } function newfunc() { count++ MyWindow.document.write(count) } </script> </head> <body> <FORM method="post" name="me"> <INPUT name="opendis" value="Open Window" type="button" onclick="Window()"/> </body> </html> I am probably doing something very wrong. Is there a way for this to work? Thanks! I having trouble with this code, I have this timer running in a js file if the timer runs out then an alert box pops up letting the user know that they have been logged out. There is also a pop-up window and if the user press down on the key board then the timer resets. I have already done this in my test files, What I am trying to do is apply it to this other code and its a bit tricky. Below you will find my test code. test1.php PHP Code: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var test2 function popup() { test2=window.open( "test2.php", "myWindow", "status = 1, height = 300, width = 300, resizable = 0" ) } </script> </head> <body> <?php echo '<a href="#" onclick="popup()" >Click Here</a>'; echo '<embed src="logout_operator.wav" autostart="false" id="logout" width="0" height="1" loop="false">'; echo '<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="test.js"></script>'; echo '<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function timeout(logoutSound) { var soundLogout=document.getElementById(logoutSound); soundLogout.Play(); alert("Your session is expired please login again"); location = "http://www.google.com"; } </script>'; ?> </body> </html> test2.php (pop-up window) PHP Code: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="test.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> window.onkeydown = handle; function handle() { resetTimer(); return true; } </script> </body> </html> test.js Code: var timer = setTimeout("timeout('logout')", 5000); function resetTimer(d) { clearTimeout(timer); if (d!="done"){ if (location.href.indexOf("test2.php")!=-1){ window.opener.window.resetTimer("done"); } else{ test2.window.resetTimer("done"); } } timer = setTimeout("timeout('logout')", 5000); } What I am trying to do is apply the function and the button to this code: Code: var _h = { mi: function (link, title, ni, qi, width, height, ri) { return '<a href="' + link + '"' + (ri != null ? ' class="' + ri + '"' : '') + ' target="_blank" title="' + title + '" onclick="this.newWindow = window.open(\'' + link + '\', \'' + ni + '\', \'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,status=1,menubar=0,width=' + width + ',height=' + height + ',resizable=1\');this.newWindow.focus();this.newWindow.opener=window;return false;">' + qi + '</a>'; } I have tried to put the test2 variable as _h but that didn't work at all. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!!! Hi, I'm learning javascript and not sure what the script language is capable of.
