SOLUTION: I accidentally used <\ul> instead of </ul> ... IE actually threw a proper error, since \u escapes a unicode string (in hex)

When i click the links the functions work, however the setTimeout doesnt, can anyone help me figure this out?

Using IE Developer Tools, during debugging, I get this error:

I'm new to js and this forum.
This is driving me nuts. I've been trying for days looking for the answer but no luck. I have a page that looks fine in all major browsers except IE. An error exclamation mark shows up in the bottom right corner of the page. When clicked it says

We have an issue with some code in a js file. Could someone look at a portion of the code below that appears to start the problem, and let me know why this sends the program into an infinite loop. Any help would be appreciated....See below:

I am having trouble getting this to work properly. What I am trying to do is come up with a simple vat deduction + student discount calculator. I cannot seem to get it working.
