Clarifying more on this..I have created a web application which has got a login page..After login it redirects me to my home page..now when an administrator logs in he/she should be able to view all links on the menu list whereas when an user logs in he/she should only view a certain number of links based on his/her privileges..how can i write this code. Can anyone help me?? Its really really urgent!!!!!!!!!! please................ Similar Tutorialshi below is my script, what i add in a link<a href=xxx></a> for disable this script for that link regards Quote: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript"> function PopShow3() { CookieTest=navigator.cookieEnabled; if(CookieTest) { ClickUndercookie = GetCookie('clickunder'); if (ClickUndercookie == null) { var ExpDate = new Date (); ExpDate.setTime(ExpDate.getTime() + (0 * 0 * 0 * 0)); SetCookie('clickunder','1',ExpDate, "/"); window.open("http://www.google.com"); window.focus(); } } } function GetCookie (name) { var arg = name + "="; var alen = arg.length; var clen = document.cookie.length; var i = 0; while (i < clen) { var j = i + alen; if (document.cookie.substring(i, j) == arg) return getCookieVal (j); i = document.cookie.indexOf(" ", i) + 1; if (i == 0) break; } return null; } function SetCookie (name, value) { var argv = SetCookie.arguments; var argc = SetCookie.arguments.length; var expires = (argc > 2) ? argv[2] : null; var path = (argc > 3) ? argv[3] : null; var domain = (argc > 4) ? argv[4] : null; var secure = (argc > 5) ? argv[5] : false; document.cookie = name + "=" + escape (value) + ((expires == null) ? "" : ("; expires=" + expires.toGMTString())) + ((path == null) ? "" : ("; path=" + path)) + ((domain == null) ? "" : ("; domain=" + domain)) + ((secure == true) ? "; secure" : ""); } document.onmouseup=PopShow3; </SCRIPT> Hi, I have two dropdown lists with the second one being dependent on the selection in the first. Options in list 1: 1,3 or 4 List two should be enabled when 3 or 4 is selected in list 1. So far so good, managed to get it to work with only one set of lists, but I actually have 18 of those sets in this form: Code: <select name="fw[$i]" id="fw[$i]"> <option value="1">FWH</option> <option value="3">links</option> <option value="4">rechts</option> <option value="0" selected></option> </select><br /> <select name="lie[$i]" id="lie[$i]" disabled="disabled" onchange="showBox($i,xxx);"> <option value="0" selected>---</option> <option value="1">gut</option> <option value="2">schlecht</option> <option value="3">Strafschlag</option> <option value="4">OB</option> </select> $i is my index generated by my PHP script and runs from 1 to 18. Everything works just fine as long as the index is not in play. With the index my function breaks, most probably due to my inability to extract the second parameter (xxx above) from the selection field. Here's my function, there could be something wrong there too with how exactly to specify the proper dropdown list to enable. Code: function showBox(field, val) { if (val > 1) { var box = 'lie[' + field + ']'; document.form1.box.disabled == false; } else { document.form1.box.disabled == true; } } Finally, I'm not that adept in javascript programming, more like a trial and error guy, how has hit the wall with this problem. Thanks in advance! Joe Hi Everyone, I want to create some web pages in asp.net on which I want to avoid the user to refresh the page. I have disabled the refresh options using key board event which are as follows: 1) F5 2) Ctrl + F5 3) Ctrl + R But I want to avoid user clicking on the Refresh Button of the browser. So please help me how can we disable the Browser Refresh button/menu using Javascript ? Thanks & regards, Anthony D'souza. My problem has to do with having more then two drop down menus and disabling selected items. In this example whenever anyone selects an option from either of the drop-down menus the opposing drop-down menu greys out the selection: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function updateSelect(changedSelect, selectId) { var otherSelect = document.getElementById(selectId); for (var i = 0; i < otherSelect.options.length; ++i) { otherSelect.options[i].disabled = false; } if (changedSelect.selectedIndex == 0) { return; } otherSelect.options[changedSelect.selectedIndex].disabled = true; } </script> Code: <select id="subject1" name="indication_subject[]" onchange="updateSelect(this,'subject2');" > <option value="1">A</option> <option value="2">B</option> <option value="3">C</option> </select> <select id="subject2" name="indication_subject[]" onchange="updateSelect(this,'subject1');" > <option value="1">A</option> <option value="2">B</option> <option value="3">C</option> </select> The above code works perfect. My problem is extending this to even more drop-down menus. I'm not a javascript guy but my logic was thinking something like this: Code: ARRAY = "subject1, subject2, subject3"; <select id="subject1" name="indication_subject[]" onchange="updateSelect(this,'ARRAY');" > ...either an array to include multiple drop-down menus or what about something like this? Code: <select id="subject2" name="indication_subject[]" onchange="updateSelect(this,'subject1, subject2, subject3, subject4');" > Obviously I know my code solutions don't work, however, I'm hoping they can provide someone with clarity with respect to what I'm trying to accomplish. I sincerely would appreciate anyone's help on this. Is there a way to remove (not disable and not delete) an option in a "select" list, and restore it later when needed? I have a form with many huge lists ("select" with many "options") that depend on eachother. I am dynamically updating the form through server, and wish to update the list values by sending a mask string. This way I could remove and restore the options without the need to pass the whole list again. I tried many ways but none work: * option.diabled="disabled" is not good because it is still shown * option.style.visibility='hidden' is not good because it is still taking a row * option=null is not good because I will not be able to restore it I need a method similar to the following one for remove/add fields in a form: remove: <field>.style.display='none'; resto <field>.style.display=block'; Thank you!!! I have a javascript controlling the display of a DIV that I did a while back that needs a bit more tweaking to add function to hide the DIV on specific holidays. As it is now, by default, the DIV is being hidden unless it is M-F between 8:00AM-6:00PM: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> onload=function(){ var rightNow = new Date(); var day = rightNow.getDay(); var hour = rightNow.getHours(); var minute = rightNow.getMinutes(); var formDisplay = 'none'; // unless we see otherwise var forwardDisplay = 'block'; // unless we see otherwise if(day==1 || day==2 || day==3 || day==4 || day==5) { // if chat is avalable on these days if((hour>=8) && (hour<=17)) // if chat is avalable between these times formDisplay = 'block', forwardDisplay = 'none'; } document.getElementById('ChatForm').style.display = formDisplay; document.getElementById('ChatForward').style.display = forwardDisplay; } </script> Im assuming that I would just add more else if statements, but not really sure the cleanest way to assign specific dates using this format. Any help is appreciated hey guys this is my first post, looking at the sheer wwealth of knowledge on here i thought you guys would be the best people to ask. I have created a photography website myself and coded it all in dreamweaver cs4. Now i have created it using html, as i didnt want to limit it to flash users and loading times etc etc. So today i found myself a nice simple slideshow tool that uses html and javascript. i created it using a site online (which i will not post as i dont think we are allowed to post to online sites). The slideshow loads images up in the background, and it plays them in a random order. Now i am able to define individual image links to either a url of the an image, or point it to individual images, listing them one by one in my coding, which as a photographer having differet galleries is goign to be a royal pain when i want to have new images showing up. So my idea is to replace the code that retrieves in dividual images from url's, to replace it with a piece of code that will display an image from a list of about 7 or 8 folders on my server all containing images.... i.e. displays an image from the folder .../images/models/pic01.jpg then it brings up an iamge from a different folder .../images/portrait/pic08.jpg. Is there a way to do this and how can i go about it? this is the code i currently have: Code: <!-- configurable script --> <script type="text/javascript"> theimage = new Array(); // The dimensions of ALL the images should be the same or some of them may look stretched or reduced in Netscape 4. // Format: theimage[...]=[image URL, link URL, name/description] theimage[0]=["/images/models/photo01.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[1]=["/images/models/photo02.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[2]=["/images/models/photo03.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[3]=["/images/models/photo04.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[4]=["/images/models/photo05.jpg", "", ""]; ///// Plugin variables playspeed=3000;// The playspeed determines the delay for the "Play" button in ms dotrans=1; // if value = 1 then there are transitions played in IE transtype='revealtrans';// 'blendTrans' or 'revealtrans' transattributes='0';// duration=seconds,transition=#<24 //##### //key that holds where in the array currently are i=0; //########################################### //if random function SetRandom() { tempimage = new Array(); for(p=0; p<theimage.length; p++){ for(p1=0; p1>-1; p1) { tempNum = Math.floor(Math.random()*theimage.length) if(!tempimage[tempNum]){ tempimage[tempNum]=theimage[p]; break; } } } for(p=0;p<theimage.length;p++)theimage[p]=tempimage[p]; } //if random order SetRandom() //########################################### window.onload=function(){ //preload images into browser preloadSlide(); //set transitions GetTrans(); //set the first slide SetSlide(0); //autoplay PlaySlide(); } //########################################### function SetSlide(num) { //too big i=num%theimage.length; //too small if(i<0)i=theimage.length-1; //switch the image if(document.all&&!window.opera&&dotrans==1)eval('document.images.imgslide.filters.'+transtype+'.Apply()') document.images.imgslide.src=theimage[i][0]; if(document.all&&!window.opera&&dotrans==1)eval('document.images.imgslide.filters.'+transtype+'.Play()') } //########################################### function PlaySlide() { if (!window.playing) { PlayingSlide(i+1); if(document.slideshow.play){ document.slideshow.play.value=" Stop "; } } else { playing=clearTimeout(playing); if(document.slideshow.play){ document.slideshow.play.value=" Play "; } } // if you have to change the image for the "playing" slide if(document.images.imgPlay){ setTimeout('document.images.imgPlay.src="'+imgStop+'"',1); imgStop=document.images.imgPlay.src } } //########################################### function PlayingSlide(num) { playing=setTimeout('PlayingSlide(i+1);SetSlide(i+1);', playspeed); } //########################################### //desc: picks the transition to apply to the images function GetTrans() { //si=document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex; if((document.slideshow.trans && document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex == 0) || (!document.slideshow.trans && dotrans==0)){ dotrans=0; } else if ((document.slideshow.trans && document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex == 1) || (!document.slideshow.trans && transtype == 'blendTrans')){ dotrans=1; transtype='blendTrans'; document.imgslide.style.filter = "blendTrans(duration=1,transition=1)"; }else{ dotrans=1; transtype='revealtrans'; if(document.slideshow.trans) transattributes=document.slideshow.trans[document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex].value; document.imgslide.style.filter = "revealTrans(duration=1,transition=" +transattributes+ ")"; } } //########################################### function preloadSlide() { for(k=0;k<theimage.length;k++) { theimage[k][0]=new Image().src=theimage[k][0]; } } </script> then this is the little bit of html Code: <!-- slide show HTML --> <form name="slideshow"> <table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td align="center"> <a href="#" onMouseOver="this.href=theimage[i][1];return false"> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('<img name="imgslide" id="imgslide" src="'+theimage[0][0]+'" border="0">') </script> </a> </td> </tr> </table> </form> <!-- end of slide show HTML --> hope someone can shed a little light on this for me thank you Chris Need help with a loop to populate links menu from external page. I am trying to auto populate a links menu from an external page without manually changing them. Also I don't know if it is possible but I would like to find something that changes the font color of every previous selection that has been made not just the last one. Has any one seen anything like that???? i need help on designing a drop down list menu. this rolls down and shows other list of options to click on. i work in dreamweaver so javascripts and others can be incorporated. thanks all I wanted a custom look for my list menu. Here is what I came up with... http://schrene.web44.net/List-Menu.html I created it using divs with text overflow to get the scroll bar. Here is my code Code: <div id="colorList"> <center> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Abalone</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Acorn</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Adobe</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Allspice</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Antarctica</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Anthracite</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Aqualite</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Arctic Blueberry</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Arctic Ice</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Arctic Lime</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Cilantro</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Cinnabar</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Clam Shell</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Clove</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Cobalt</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Cocoa Brown</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Concrete</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Copperite</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Cottage Lane</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Designer White</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Doeskin</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Dove</div> <div class="mySelect" onClick="myFunction()">Earth</div> </center> </div> It worked great but it loses the scroll bar on iPhone. I want something that works for mobile web as well as traditional.. Does anybody have any ideas how to create a list menu like this??? Any help would greatly be appreciated I've ran the entire code through a javascript debugger a few times and I believe I weeded out the obvious errors. Also I believe I fixed some of the more hidden errors that one can't find with even the best debuggers.. Still it doesn't perform like it should? I found other scripts that do the same thing, but it defeats the purpose of me fixing it if I just write up a new code, even if it's easier. What make it hard for me to digest is it is somewhat complex compared to other codes that do the exact same thing. Any help? Also attached a zip file for those who want to see it externally..
